Denny Wood and Matley Wood Campsites
These two, beautiful grassland sites are just half a mile away from each other and both provide relaxing caravan and camping in idyllic settings.
Find a secret grassy spot among the scattered oaks and flowing bracken, pitch your tent and kick back and connect to the nature that’s all around you.
It’s so relaxed here that, like many local caravan and camping sites, the forest ponies roam freely around.
Because they are situated right in the heart of the New Forest, these sites are popular with walkers and cyclists alike.
From both sites you can cycle to nearby Lyndhurst (using forest paths nearly all the way) or if you prefer to walk, it’s just a half-hour to the village which has a good range of restaurants, shops and pubs.
In addition, picturesque Brockenhurst, which has a wide range of shop and amenities, is just a short drive away.
There are no toilets, showers or electricity at either site so it is essential that you bring your own chemical toilet.
Local attractions include Furzey Gardens with its rare plant collection, The New Forest Reptile Centre and The New Forest Wildlife Park.
Dogs are not accepted at Denny Wood although they are welcome at Matley Wood.
