Tour highlights

We are very excited to offer members a brand new Escorted Tour of Andalucía, in May 2013. This tour will take you off the tourist trail – and into the heart of one of the most loved, beautiful and culturally rich regions in Europe. Come and discover the scenery, gastronomy and hidden places that make Andalucía such a treasure and a delight. Three campsites, chosen to showcase the character of the region, are ready to welcome tour members, all of them offering authentic Andalucían hospitality, scenery and surroundings. This new adventure for Club members promises to leave you with a wonderful and memorable insight into the very special region that is Andalucía.

Tour itinerary


Day 1

Arrive on site from midday onwards and meet with your Club Tour Escorts and fellow members. Enjoy a welcome meal and drink on site in the evening
1 night Campsite near Córdoba

Day 2

Full day coach excursion from the site to discover the beautiful Baroque church towers of Ecija. You will then visit the Moorish Medina Azahara where you will find the carefully excavated remains of the Caliph’s stunning city palace, which was constructed in 936AD. The site was rediscovered in 1910 and it is the most significant medieval archaeological site in Europe. Lunch will be payable locally and you will finish the day at the castle of Almodovar del Rio, taking in the stunning views over the Guadalquivir valley.

Day 3

A free day to relax on site or explore the local area by foot or by bicycle (bikes may be rented from the site - subject to availability). Why not visit Osuna and see the impressive buildings?

Day 4

Full day coach excursion to visit a local bodega. Learn about the production methods and take the opportunity to sample the wine, before continuing to enjoy the local regional culture at an artisan pottery factory. Lunch will be payable locally before the final visit of the day takes you to a nature reserve wetland to see hundreds of flamingos in their natural habitat.

Day 5

Full day excursion from the campsite to nearby Córdoba for a visit to the vibrant annual Patio festival, where local residents open up their cool courtyards and patios to visitors, displaying their colourful flowers, ceramics and mosaics - a real treat for the senses. Lunch will be payable locally and you will then have a guided tour around historic Córdoba which is a classified UNESCO site and is the second largest old town in Europe.

Day 6

Travel to campsite near Antequera (67 miles by motorway) - enjoy a group meal and drink in the site restaurant in the evening.

Day 7

Full day coach excursion from the site to visit El Torcal de Antequera; a fascinating and unusual landscape which is listed as a natural monument. There is flora and fauna to discover and you may even spot a Spanish ibex! After lunch (included) we travel into Antequera itself to discover its beautiful medieval architecture including the Alcazaba fortress and the Royal Collegiate Church of Santa Maria.

A day at leisure to relax on site or explore the local area.

Day 9

Full day coach excursion from the site to visit the ‘Sierra de las Nieves’ natural park. Discover the tastes, aromas and traditions of rural Andalucía. Places visited on the tour will include four of the five following; an organic orchard, an olive oil production factory and tasting session, a lunch stop in Casarabonela (included) and a stroll through the charming Moorish influenced alleyways, a visit to a local handicraft artisan who crafts bags from esparto grass, a visit to a finca where local fruits grow and the charismatic owner may even show you how to prepare traditional gazpacho!

Day 10

Full day coach excursion from the site to visit a local farm where they breed bulls. You will find out all about these animals which feature heavily in Spanish tradition. There will then be lunch (included) and a visit to Ronda to see the famous gorge and soak up the historic charm of this beautiful town.

Day 11

A morning excursion to visit a unique, privately owned and run wolf park and discover the four species of wolf living there. The owners of the park will explain all about wolf behaviour and you will be able to observe the animals in this natural environment.

Day 12

Travel to campsite near Granada (83 miles). Arrive on site from midday and enjoy an evening welcome meal and drink on site in the restaurant.

Day 13

Full day coach excursion from the site to the south slopes of the Sierra Nevada to discover the region of ‘Las Alpujarras.’ The landscape takes you back in time and allows for fruit plantations and vineyards to flourish. You will visit a local village to see traditional houses and browse the crafts and wares for sale. Lunch (included) will be a feast of typical local dishes and wine before finishing the day at Trevélez, the highest village in Andalucia, and visiting a production factory of regional air-dried ham.

Day 14

A day at leisure on site to relax or visit the local area. Why not discover the roman ruins in Malaga? (approx. 40 miles)

Day 15

Full day excursion from the site to visit the caves at Piñar to see the stalactites and stalagmites and the caves that were inhabited by humans in the Paleolithic era. After a group lunch (included) you will visit Guadix where local residents still inhabit caves carved into the hillside. Bright whitewashed facades give way to cosy, modern interiors - a fascinating look at modern living in unusual homes.

A day at leisure to relax on site before the evening farewell meal and drink in the site restaurant.

Depart site. End of tour arrangements.
