When the sun comes out here lies paradise on earth! Skye is a long, long, way from most places and the weather can whip in off the North Atlantic with some vigour, so beware but if you accept that and you are still up for it this is an absolutely first class site to visit. The site managers and assistants are very friendly and helpful, good people committed to the environment and to their guests. They keep the place in tip top condition, and offer any assistance needed. The facilities are excellent the site has a pleasant view of the loch and by Scottish standards both the roads on Skye and the access are good.
There is good walking, some of it, but not all, can be tough. Don't miss the coral beach near Claigan, Dunvegan. If the weather is good and you are up for the single track roads the views from Neist Point are not to be missed. I recommend the Brigadoon Sea Eagle boat trip from Portree, first one of the morning seems a good bet as the birds are more likely to feed. I was fortunate to see Golden Eagles in Glen Brittle, the trips down Glen Brittle and out to Elgol are well worth it just for the scenery. I did not have time to do the wildlife boat trip from Elgol, but that looked very good, next time perhaps. Most of all, the mountain walking on Skye is second to none.
I have very fond memories of a great holiday and one of the very best sites I have ever stayed on.

We were welcomed onto site by friendly wardens and found the perfect pitch overlooking the Loch. The pitches were fairly level and the hardstands were of a good size and well spaced. The facilities were perfect. The motorhome service point was particularly useful to us although the grey waste point was on the wrong side of my van for me to observe the one way system, not a problem at this time of year but could be tricky when busy. We ate at the Inn in the village as recommended by the Warden and it has a very good restaurant with local seafood on the menu.
We stayed two nights exploring the roads around Dunvegan and can recommend the site as a great base for exploring the North of Skye. Excellent.

What a fantastic site. The staff were absolutely fantastic, friendly, helpful and informative. We only had a few days there - it was NOT ENOUGH TIME! I wanted to stay. The site is suitable for everyone and no matter what you want to do in Scotland - if you get a chance - please do not miss this site. We loved it and would go back tomorrow with no problems and no reservations. My congratulations to the Camping and Caravan Club for having this site.

A great site kept immaculate. Plenty of pitch options for all types of units including tents that get second best on some sites. Despite the Skye weather the ground remained dry. The only bad thing was that we only had 5 days!

What a wonderful site, in a great location. The franchisees are pleasant and very helpful and can't do enough for you if you need it. Maybe we were lucky but the weather was super and there were no midges! Our stay wasn't long enough as we had to interrupt the stay so we shall definitely be back next year and for much longer.

We stayed for 5 nights in early June. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Our pitch was in a grass only field, which had 10 or 15 pitches; there was only 4 or 5 being used at the time. The ground was in good condition and the pitch was more or less level. We had booked grass pitch with electric hook up, but the grass only field had no electric points and the nearest service pillar was in the next field, on the other side of a little steam. The majority of units on the site were in the other field, where there are many hardstandings and most if not all of these pitches have a good view of the loch.
The toilets and showers were excellent and spotless. The site has a really good information room where you can get details of places to visit, places to eat and information about local wildlife.
Edinbane is a 15 or 20 minute walk from the site and we saw 2 pubs, both do food (booking is suggested) we had a nice meal at the “New Innâ€, I was hoping for something familiar and filling, but the food on offer was a bit more up market, it was very nice but it was not very filling. We ate out one other night at the Royal Hotel in Portree, their meals were very nice .
We had nice and sunny weather for most of the stay on Skye. We did some walking, took a boat trip from Elgol to Loch Coruisk and saw lots of seals. We visited Dunvegan Castle, the castle has lots of interesting displays and the gardens are vey nice, there is also a good tearoom.
Midges were quite a problem for us especially in the mornings when the air seemed to be quite still.
One thing that stuck us as strange was that we could not put any glass into the recycling bins. We were told that the local council would fine the site if any glass was found in the refuse or recycling – we were told that the nearest bottle bank was in Edinbane. There is also another one at the co-op supermarket in Portree.
We really liked Skye, and this site is a great place to stay.

This was our 4th visit and just as enjoyable as the other visits. Great to be remembered and welcomed back. We couldn't fault our stay, even the weather was kind. This was are first time on Skye and we are so glad we chose this site, three nights was not quite enough, It's in a wonderful setting.
The welcome we received from the assistant management team of Ruth & Mark was warm, friendly and very helpful and bearing in mind this couple are 'rookies'in this roll they were great. We arrived at a very busy time(a convoy of six German Motorhomes without prior bookings before us)and still we were made to feel very welcome, we thought they handle it just right,we wish them well, well done.
This is a franchised site and the owners who live on site to their credit have made a massive investment on the sites facilities, sadly they forgot there own 'people management training'.
The sites setting is just wonderful, in the middle of fantastic countryside and by a loch (if you like to get to the town of Portree and nearby villages then these are well served by the local bus services).
If we are ever back in this area we would use this site again.

Very good location to do activities from site with Loch Greshornish on the doorstep. A reasonable distance to ferry terminal at Uig, and main town of Portree.
Equally at home to chill out on site during the day. Wardens keep the site in immaculate order, including giving the toilet block an extra tidy up first thing in the morning. Quite an achievement seeing they also run a working croft. First club site shop I've seen selling Avon Skin So Soft as a good midgie deterrent.
Most pitches on site have an excellent view to watch the loch, paricularly impressive for sunsets.

We arrived Friday afternoon after driving up from Aberdeen, the couple who run the place were so friendly and very helpful, it was our first time camping as a family (my husband, myself and our 4year old daughter ) so I was a bit worried about roughing it too much ....... I need not have worried as the facilities were fantastic, you could have eaten your dinner off the bathroom floor . As far as the location goes all I can say is breathtaking, our daughter was amazed by the highland cows. The shop is well stocked too. The whole experience was wonderful and we will be doing more camping in the future .

My four friends and I in 2 motorhomes have just had a lovely 5 days at this site. David filled our water tanks while we checked in which was nice and then as my lights would not work they kindly loaned me a lamp to use during our stay. The facilities were excellent and the location beautiful. We got the bus into Portree one day from right outside the site and got a very reasonably priced taxi from Kathleen to the local pub and back as it was raining. The pub had live music, friendly bar staff and a good atmosphere. We drove to Dunvegan castle which had lovely gardens and around Trotternish area and had a boat trip in Portree where we saw sea eagles. We did not see the local otters but did see eagles flying over the site more than once. The weater changed almost hourly but we had lots of sunshine between the showers and one hail shower. Well worth a visit!

This was my second stay on this site and I'm sure it won't be my last. I'm a woman in my 50's and I was camping on my own, but felt very safe and welcomed from the moment I arrived. As the other reviews state, the location is stunningly beautiful. On the Sunday I walked into Edinbane to have lunch at the local pub. There was lovely food and entertainment by a group of local musicians. Staff on site are so helpful - I was running a bit low on petrol and they phoned a garage to check opening hours before I set off to fill up. Would unreservedly recommend this site to anyone and I will definitely be back again.

It was our first visit to Skye and we thought the campsite was absolutely fabulous. We received a warm welcome from the owners, and because it was early in the season, we were invited to choose any available pitch. We decided on a front-line spot close to the water's edge - lovely!
The owners and the Club are to be congratulated on the quality of the facilities - the toilets and showers in particular, were superb. Oh and a very well stocked shop too.
It feels remote and isolated - probably because it is! But that suited us perfectly. The coastal views are stunning.
We were on our way to the Outer Hebrides and the ferry port of Uig was conveniently only about 18 miles away. All in all a very enjoyable visit which we'd very much like to repeat at a future date. Thank you.

A lovely site, wardens more than helpful when we arrived. They gave us an info sheet to read thoughly,so we could get set up more quickly.
Mobile telephone reception is very poor, there is a telephone box on site, but can't be used while the shop is open. The shop does sell agood variety of things from gas to souveniers.
We found lots of things to see, though the roads are quite rough in a lot of places, due to the bad weather.

The perfect spot to enjoy the wilderness, seclusion and peacefulness on the Isle of Skye. Beautiful scenery from the site itself, a fantastic dog walk (need your wellies), need your satellite dish and free to air box to be able to get a TV signal and need to drive a couple of miles towards Dunvegan to get a telephone signal, if you're that desperate. Don't forget your awning straps either. Above all it's the perfect 'get away from it all' holiday site. Don't forget to visit Neist Point and the Coral Beaches.

I was attending an event on 27th August not far from the campsite. First time four years was camping on my own and weather forecast was lousy. Found site easily and as I pulled up Chris came out and called me by name (he's a radio ham and I'm a radio operator) and he knew why I was staying. Was given a choice of fabulous lochside view or no view behind high fence close to loos and with weather due to close down Sat night went for latter. RIGHT DECISION! Was made to feel so welcome and my mates will be joining me on the site next year if the event runs. Site spotless, plenty of bins etc. and campers' shelter.
Been to Skye several times over the decades and this is a great spot to cover most of the island's attractions - it would be a bit of a haul if you wanted to do Sleat or take a boat trip to Loch Coruisk and the black Cuillin. Would still give the site 5 stars, though. Thanks Chris and co!

David and Nicky were very welcoming. In fact we felt welcomed as individuals and nothing was too much trouble. We would never of guessed that we were on a working croft because it was so quiet and peaceful. Location was superb from which one could easily access mountains, beaches, historical sites of interest and Portree, the main town. Also Uig, from which one can take ferries to explore the other isles, was close by. Facilities on the campsite were more than sufficient and spotless. Hope to use this site again.

It took a little longer than we expected but the site was worth it, super location, serene and relaxing. The only drawback was the assumption that we were Caravan Club members because I booked a grass pitch with hook up,? the sarcastic welcome was not what we expected. We were found a pitch behind the toilet block, not the best view considering we booked in May. However later arrivals were put on a grass pitch WITH HOOK UP, how bizarre. Watch out for the eggs at £2.45 for half doz. Several one nighters complained about the pitches behind the toilet block and were moved, our fault, obviously, for not complaining. By the way we have been members of the Camping and Caravan club for 20+ years should we try the Caravan Club? P.S other than the Camp Commandant the rest of the staff were friendly.

We had a wonderful pitch and enjoyed relaxing and looking out over the loch in the evenings. Our dogs loved the walks along the loch.
David and Nicky have done a great job improving the site and they should be very proud of their achievements. Along with Chris and Kath they provide a great holiday environment. They are always willing to help and to provide advice on local attractions and events. 5 stars for David, Nicky, Chris and Kath.

We arrived through awful thunder and lightning and floods from loch ness. We had never tented before and it was our first time with our children and dogs, one of our children is autistic.
On arrival Chris and Kath could not have been more friendly or helpfull, we had several other members on site who helped my husband put the tent up (FIRST TIMERS!)they even offerred to make us a cup of tea!. I got the dogs to the dog walk and was very impressed, even though rain was forecast we got everything up without any probs, my husband did not get stressed at all - MOST UNUSUAL - must have been the warm welcome and not made to look daft at not knowing what went where etc etc. Chris then helped me get the kids onto the internet and gave us the low down on all the good places to eat that were kid and dog friendly, we all went to sleep feeling very cosy that night. The next 2 days - we had fantastic sunshine, no wind, and amazing scenic drives, walks and the kids did not say once that they were bored. BONUS !
Facilities on site are second to none, I could not fault the cleanliness, friendliness or organisation on site.
Amazing views, and sunsets, - word of advice dont bother eating in Portree we tried quite a few places and felt very ripped off - listen to Chris and Kath they know what they are talking about.
Chris and Kath really are amazing assets to this site, we were anxious about buying lots of camping equipment etc (Not cheap) but if Skye caravan and camping site is anything to go by - we will not bother going to any other form of campsite only CARAVAN AND CAMPING CLUB SITES. Thank you so much to Chris and Kath from the Williams Family.

Owners David and Nicky were there to welcome us at 10.45pm!! We stayed in pod for 1st night which 'did the trick' after long journey from Bristol. Pitched tent next day and thought site was 1st class. View from canvas living room was uninterrupted over sea loch where I watched a family of 7 herons for many a hour. Facilities were well deserving of awards, the latest was 2010 and standards still up there with best. David chatted about where was best to visit for our requirements. Dog walk well signposted with poop bags and bin on hand. Walk itself was easy and scenic dogs enjoyed swims foraging and exploring lovely stretch of loch side.

We stayed for 5 nights, and the welcome given by the site wardens was excellent. We were shown to our pitch which had been especialy reserved for us as we have a long twin axle caravan. Help was offered to pitch the van if required. Views over the loch are stunning. Loo block facilities second to none. Even at 11pm, they were spotless. Dog walk great. Our last day was extremely windy & wet, and we had to take our awning down, not so easy in a gale, but we managed. All in all, the site is a credit to both the wardens who look after it, and the club itself.

Lovely site in a beautiful location by the loch. Site was extremely clean and tidy and was cleaned every day without fail for 2 hours! The dog walk was something else... You could walk around most of the loch up and down the hills, off lead with fresh water streams for dogs to drink from, never stayed anywhere like it. just a few words of warning, nearest shops are 10 miles away but the little shop on site sells milk and snacks. The site can be very windy when a storm is brewing over the Atlantic, the site ownr advised us which way to face our trailer tent to avoid facing wind, also we parked our car in front to act as a barrier. Skye is absolutely amazing with breathtaking scenery everywhere, we loved it and we will be going back!!
