Just had 6 nights at Oswestry during, possibly, the best weather of the year so far.
The welcome was great and the assistance when selecting a suitable pitch was great. The site is clean, tidy and relaxing, what more can you want?
The area is good for visiting National Trust properties, with Powis Castle being our favourite.
All in all a great break, we will be back.

Very friendly welcome when we arrived. Alan very keen that we should choose a pitch that suited our needs. He certainly managed to do this and we spent time watching the wildlife including a woodpecker on Sunday am. The bus service from outside took us on a lovely ride through the villages to Oswestry where we enjoyed a stroll round the town. Wished we could have stayed longer and will certainly try and come back

We have visited many sites and enjoyed them all. However, this one beats the lot. A very warm and friendly welcome, good support in setting up and good interactive activities for all age groups. It's a beautiful and comfortable site with the addition of the barn just to add something different. We found it useful especially when it went cool on our last evening and the bingo was great fun never thought we would be playing bingo! We explored Ellesmere which was worth a visit. As the sun was out we spent most of the time on site making the most of being outdoors and relaxing. The old three pigeons was a good place to eat as recommended by Peter. We will definitely be returning (soon I hope).

We didn't find the staff very friendly and certainly not helpful especially the female warden !!!! When we arrived we were sited at the very end of the site were we had no WIFI, TV or mobile phone connection so the following morning we moved 3 rows back from the office which housed the wifi mast still no connection with either the wifi or TV. When we approached the warden she just said well we have connection so theirs nothing we can do, on a couple of occasions we sat in the car under the mast but even then it was very limited wifi connection. We felt like we were just doing them a favour being on the site !!!!!! We certainly wouldn't use the site again.

Dear Alan
Thank you for your welcome into your campsite. As you known it was my girlfriend's first time camping in a tent, she has absolutely loved it. Even after what mother nature decided to throw at her (rain, wind and cold).
We were in the right place for a beginner.
The fish and chips van on friday nig ht and the outstanding bingo caller was the icing on the cake.
We have been back less that a week and already my girlfriiend is looking for our next adventure in the camping world.
Kind regards
Sharon and Marc

We spent an extended bank holiday weekend here, It was our first visit to this site and we were not disappointed. Peter met us when we arrived and told us a bit about the site and what they do in the way of social events and that we would be very welcome to come along, which we did. They had bingo (with a difference) on the sunday night and we spent a very pleasant evening along with several other campers. The site itself is a credit to Gail,Peter and Alan, they have lovingly tended to flower beds and have an array of potted plants bringing a splash of colour to the scene, grounds are immaculate as are the facilities, a beautiful spot, even on a bank holiday when it was busy ,we sat outside and all we could hear was birdsong. 2 good dog walks one on site and one is a bridle path next to the entrance. Try Nescliffe woods and the walk up to Olivers point, well worth the climb for the views that await you at the top. We will return to this site can't rate it highly enough.

This is our fifth visit to this site. We keep coming back because of the friendly and very helpful welcome we always receive and the spotlessly clean facilities. The site is convenient for mid Wales and the Shropshire hills but also for Shrewsbury and several National Trust Properties. We enjoyed the Easter bingo - thank you!

We initially had booked on this site, for two nights, leading up to Easter. However, such was the welcome, and the site itself, we ended up staying for a total of 6 nights over Easter.
The welcome, by Peter, on arrival, was great, and he proceeded to give us a choice of pitches, "loos or views?"as he put it. We opted for views, and he guided us into a lovely pitch, at the top end of the site, which afforded us lovely views of the snow-capped mountains. To be fair, it wasn't too far from the amenaties block, anyway.
Because of the recent severe weather, the site pitches were being cleared of snow, when we arrived, but a good job had been done, as the road around the site, and the pitches, were completely clear.
The toilet and shower block were impeccably clean, as was all of the facilities.
A nice touch, was a meet and greet session, on Easter Sunday, were everyone was encouraged to bring something to share, food wise. It really helped us to meet new people, and gave us a chance to sample the impressive "barn", which the owners have had built, as something of a focal point for the site. These get togethers happen throughout the year, we were told, so we will look forward to our next visit.
We took our dog, and there is a nice dog walk, at the end of the site, which takes you down to overlook some marshland. Nice for bird-watching.
Overall, a really good site, which is handy for North Wales, as well as Shrewsbury, and Oswestry itself. We will certainly be returning.

probably the most friendly welcome we have experienced whilst caravanning, we arrived just prior t the Easter break and although there was still a lot of snow evident, the wardens had cleared all the roads and hard standings. The site and facilities were very clean and following this, our first visit to the site, it most definitely won't be the last. only downside was a small amount of traffic rumble from the nearby A5 but this was cancelled out by the vast array of wildlife seen on and around the site

Having re-routed due to snow Alan and Gail made us very welcome when we arrived on site. Alan shovelled paths in the snow so we could reach the electric hook up more easily. All the facilities were well maintained and very clean. the welcome was warm and friendly. As the eveing went on the snow returned and much of north England ground to a halt (including hundreds of motorists getting stuck on the M6 overnight) but no problem here, by the time we got up Alan had been out clearing snow to the washrooms. We enjoyed our stay and certainly would return.

We have stayed on this site frequently over the last few years and have watched it develop under the friendly guidance of Gail and Alan, Not perhaps the quietest place in the country during the day, some road noise if the wind is in one direction, and a nearby helicopter training unit, but it is all quiet at night The site is a fantastic centre for touring Shropshire being within easy reach of Oswestry town, Shrewsbury (park & ride), and Ellesmere. Pitches are of a generous size and both the hardstanding and grass areas are well maintained despite the never ending efforts of rabbits.

Definitely one of the best sites that we have used,
The greeting was warm and welcoming, the facilities were spot on, showers and toilets were spotless, pitch sizes were generous loved it, the only downside for us was the length of the on site dog walk, but it was great to find that another dog walking area was less than 50 yards from the site entrance.

This is a very rural site--there is nothing much within walking distance, and the nearby roads are busy-I wouldn't like to walk along them. But if you want a very clean, tidy, friendly, peaceful site, this is it. Buses to Oswestry and Shrewsbury close by.

I was very disappointed in this site. On the face of it, it is very good. It is easy to get to, the greeting up to the usual standard and the facilities clean. There is a bus near by for getting into shrewsbury/oswestry. The site itself is about half way between the 2.
I did not like this site though for the following reasons:
. Only 4 showers which ran out of hot water.
. Vans whilst being the standard distance apart, felt like they were positioned on top of each other with no room to swing a cat, the pitches were small, and you felt more like you were at a crowded show than a peaceful site.
. Site is situated near a busy road which means there is always traffic noise.
This site is a great location for stopping off on your way to somewhere else, but I would not recommend it for longer stays.

Called this site just by off chance when we were in the area to initially ask about the site then ask if we could join as members there.
First thoughts were how friendly the people were and once we stayed on the site  how all the ammenities were spotlesly clean and both Gail and Alan always had a smile, which makes you feel welcome.
It is set in between both Oswestry and Shrewsbury only 300 yards from the A5 which is ideal for both site seeing and shopping. Friday night was chip night with a chip van pulling near the entrance from 4.30pm until 7pm and I must say these were both good value for money and also tasty.
At £4.50 for fish chips and peas, you can't go wrong.

Stayed there three times now.
Two of us and our small mixed terrier.
The welcome and reception was excellent.
Shown to our pitch and helped to park up. Also given a choice of pitches.
The site is spotlessly clean and in a peaceful countryside setting just off a road so a little road noise was heard occaisionly but it definitly was not a problem.
The site is beautiful and well kept. and the dog walk was great for our litle pet dog.
The surroundings were great.countryside farms and little villages, bus stops nearby the site entrance. to Oswestry and other areas of interest.
There is a lovely pub near that does wonderful food and allow dogs too. And a visiting fish and chip van on a Friday for a treat. The shower blocks offered individual tloilets, sink areas and showers for privacy. Water heat water not a problem.
The onsite shop was small and had few items to purchase but you only need the basics as main food shops were not far away.

The welcome we recieved was first class, we were helped to choose a pitch and as the end of the hurricane was due in a couple of days it was suggested we park nose first, facing the spinney, so as we had an awning, the wind would hit the van first, we were offered help if the awning needed to be taken doen in a rush. Payment wasn't a priority, we were told to go to the office later once we were set up, thus giving us a taste of a relaxed atmosphere, not like the regimented attitude of the opposition. Saying this everything was clean and tidy. The only down side was the restricted opening hours of the shop. We will definately stay here again, as nothing was too much trouble.

A well maintained and attractive site. It's relatively small but, other than a children's play area, has everything you could need. The grass pitches aren't very level but our tent pitched okay and it didn't give me any problems. The welcome was excellent and we were given a choice of pitches which was great.
As for children, we didn't feel they were unwelcome but the site did seem to be occupied mainly by retired couples. However, there were still a fair number of families.
Overall, a very good site in a wonderful part of England. Recommended

Our fifth time at this site, nothing too much trouble for the staff, facilities always spotless, very relaxing atmosphere, tried the fish and chips once, that was enough - they were very poor and expensive but other people seemed to like them! The little town of Ellesmere is a short ride away and well worth a visit with its quaint shops and lovely large lake plus various canals to explore.

At last, a site that lives up to the "friendly" tag that the C and C club prides itself in but sadly sometimes falls short of! If there was an example for how campers should be welcomed then this would be it. What a fantastic, helful welcome, without the rules in your face or a hundred notices! These site managers should provide the training services for others. After 36 years this was easily the best C And C site visited! Well done!

Unfortunately after reading the other reports i feel i need to say something about this site.Yes the campsite is very clean,my concerns are the shower blocks are to small for the number of pitches, children were not made to feel very welcome.I think they wold be better off saying adults only,we have two children aged 9 and 7 ,believe it or not they are well mannered and are told to respect there elders. It is a shame however when respect is not shown back.On our arrival a caravan was booking in just before us a older couple were laughing and joking with the receptionist, that was not the case when i walked in with my daughter.I dont mean this to sound like a rant because we had a relaxing time when a break was long overdue.ALL I WOULD SAY IS IF YOU ARE A YOUNG COUPLE WITH CHILDREN THIS IS NOT THE SITE FOR YOU.

Warmest welcome we've had at any site. Alan very helpful when offering us choice of pitch.Site was very busy when we were there but no problems with facilities. The nearby "the Old Three Pigeons" pub was great for food.Very varied price range and menu, plus 10% off if you take voucher from site! Some good cycling as mostly fairly level country lanes. Will certainly use again if in the area.

Arrived on June 4th after getting lost, but was greeted by Alan who showed us around no rush, and offred us a couple of places to pitch. Initially we were to do 4 nights here and 3 at Bala, however I pulled my back putting the tent up and asked if they could let us stay the week. Gail sorted it out by ringing Bala for us and explaining the situation. Surrounded by woodland & countryside& wildlife with good facilities this is a great site. It got really busy but we never had problems with showers or toilet facilities. The owners are friendly. There is a little shop for bits and the chip van on Friday evenings. Plenty of Towns to explore nearby, Church Stretton a quaint little town is a must. Many walks a short drive away, our feet are still aching !! Or you can just kick back and relax and stay on site.Just dont get Alan talking football and his beloved Man Utd lol He is always willing to have a chat and help if you have any problems. To be honest I didnt mind because im a Man U supporter also. We will return to this site as we enjoyed the week, the chat, and the peace. See you there soon.

We had a lovely 3 night break over the weekend. The welcome was very friendly and all the site facilities were excellent. TV reception was poor but that was due to us being in the immediate shelter of the trees. I would definatley return to the site and recommend it to anyone wanting a peaceful break. One slight comment regarding the 'chip van', I thought they were miserable. I didn't think they were good value nor particulary good quality, the lady dishing out the chips loaded her scoop up but only put 1 extra chip on the guy's portion in front of me!! I also heard her complain about being asked to put a burger seperate from the chips because "I'm not supposed to..." We are talking a 3p polystyrene dish fols on a £5.50 Burger & Chips deal, hardly going to break the bank! But the site...marvellous and we will return, well done to the management!!

I had 7 nights at this site and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. The wardens welcome and helpfullness was 1st class.Although the site was quite busy, the only noise was from the birds. The facilities were spotless and the roadways clean with spacious pitches. With no play area, this site would not be ideal for families with children, but if you want peace and quiet, look no further.Friday night is chip van night.Excellent food at reasonable prices.I'll be going back to Oswestry without doubt.

This was our first camping trip & we loved our overnight stay. Toilets etc are immaculate. Site is lovely We had a great quiet pitch at the top of the site. Very friendly & helpful warden Don't miss the Hoffman Hike at nearby Llanymynech 15 minutes by car. Walk is 3 miles & really interesting example of our industrial heritage.

We stayed for 3 nights and chose this site purely so we could meet up with relatives in Shrewsbury. However we really enjoyed our stay. The site was quite quiet as our Easter holidays seem to have been later than others. The staff were very helpful and suggested a lovely cycle ride around some local lanes and to Nesscliffe Country Park. We would definitely use this site gain.

Fantastic site and very friendly and helpful wardens.
Pitches are a good size and easy to get onto. Toilet block and showers are kept spotless.
Lots to do in the surronding area.
One bonus is the fish and chip van on Friday nights at a reasonable price.
We have stayed here twice now and have booked again for July.

well when we went it was horrible weather gale force winds and torrential rain but what an amazing site! they put us in the most sheltered spot they could find and nothing was ever too much trouble. facilities were beautiful and clean and more importantly warm. not a lot around the immediate area but with oswestry and shrewsbury only up the road and with wales a bit further it was a very good experience and we will be returning as soon as possible!

This a very nice site, well maintained and in a picturesque setting. The site was more or less fully occupied during my visit. The area for tents is quite compact and ok if people behave in a responsible manner. Unfortunately half way through my stay what appeared to be 2 families arrived at the next pitch to me and put up 3 tents together (6 metre rule?). On the pitch on the other side of me was another family who appeared to be with the other 2 families on the other side. The children from both families were allowed to run wild and were running through my pitch area. At 11pm the families were still talking loudly. I left a day early vowing never to go camping again when schools are on holiday.

A perfect base for visiting and exploring Shropshire, North Wales and Mid Wales.
There a number of walks from the site, just ask for a leaflet. The site is really well managed and we are already planning our 4th visit. You will be made very welcome by Alan and Gail (franchisers) from the moment you arrive at this very attractive site.

Having covered the length and breadth of Britain and stayed at campsites across the globe, I can honestly say this was the best bar none.
Finding the site nicely secluded, I from experience expected little more than a patch of scrub-land with the bare minimum of amenities and warden interaction: - How wrong I was! The site not only has all the facilities I hadn't even hoped for but they were exemplary and beautifully maintained.
The shop had some very interesting local stock and although we didn't manage to try out the fish and chips from the visiting stand, I appreciated the sentiment and have noted it for my next visit which I will surely make for this site alone!
On a final but important note, I commend the staff on their approach. The lady in the shop was very friendly and her son, very knowledgeable of the area. I am, it has to be said, not a seasoned camper so it was quite the time saver when Alan the warden was helpful enough to show me where I was going wrong when putting up my tent as it was a new one I had not yet used.
In closing, I was thoroughly impressed by the grounds and although I would never want to be sold anything, the manner of the staff and the overall cleanliness, look and charm of Cranberry Moss and surrounding area has certainly got wanting to take up membership as well as made this my site of choice next time I am in the region.

This is a great site!
We were very impressed from the moment we arrived we were given such a friendly, helpful welcome. The site is in absolute pristine condition, with ample space between pitches.
The shower and toilet blocks are spotlessly clean; there is plenty of room for washing up and there is a laundry site available too. The information board contains some useful local info.
When we arrived on Friday evening there was a food van on site which was very welcome after our travels and there is a small shop on site where you can order newspapers and get any essential supplies. The campsite prevents vehicles in and out between 11 p.m and 7 a.m which means that you can really enjoy the tranquility of the site. There are two dedicated dog walking "runs" both easily accessible.
All in all a site that must be visited for a great break!

The best site we have ever used, a warm and friendly welcome from Alan, Gail & Peter, nothing is too much trouble.
The facilities are 5 star, well stocked shop with local foods, the site has lovely grounds with a variety of plants and flowers and lots of local wildlife.
You are not too far from local pubs that offer good service with fantastic meals, and the towns of Shrewsbury and Oswestry nearby.
A nice peaceful site guaranteed to help you relax. We return again and again and would recommend it.
