my wife, grandson & I spent Mayday weekend on this superb site, despite heavy showers the pitches were fine - both hardstanding & grass. The play area was small but fully used by a lot of kids including our grandson. The whole area is absolutely superb from Kielder thro to Hadrians Wall. We last stopped at Bellingham 19 years ago whilst backpacking The Pennine Way what a pity this gem of a site wasn't there then! The owners & staff are camper/ podder/ tin tenter friendly & the facilities are top notch including free wifi. I have no hesitation in recommending this site to everyone as there is plenty in the area for everyone.

Spent 4 nights here in early May.
Very helpful and friendly staff.
Very well looked after site.
Good location being a 20 minute walk into Bellingham, where there are 3 decent pubs, one of which does good food, and also a hotel even nearer that does very good food.
Cleanest facilities we have come across in seven years of camping.

This is my 3rd stay at Bellingham.
Wardens are always very helpful.
A well looked after site.
Showers and toilets very clean.
Town of Bellingham a short walk from site.
Places for a meal or drink, in town there is also a few small shops.
This is an ideal place to stay for exploring Northumbria.
Whether it is a quiet break or a more energetic holiday I am sure this can be achieved at Bellingham.

Another brilliant weekend away!
Our first visit here was 6 years ago when we turned up in a 30+ year old mini, with a gaggle of grandkids, dog, and a tent. This time we were in a modern car with a small caravan, only the two of us.
Before we were pitched the warden said "Do I know you? Where are the kids and the little car?".
Now that IS the personal touch!
Loverly site with good facilities, perfect for visiting the area and Kielder forest.

We arrived early evening, having telephoned the site to advise we would be later than expected, and received a warm welcome and were shown to our pitch. As it was the bank holiday weekend the site was busy, but not noisy. The site was immaculate, short grass and well marked pitches. The facilities were clean and warm and you can listen to R2 whilst you shower. We walked into Bellingham which takes approx 20 mins, lovely butchers & bakers along with a Co-op for other groceries, 3 Pubs what more could you want? We will be returning.

We have just returned from our stay at Bellingham, when we arrived we were really impressed by the welcome and the help we had to pitch up. The site and toilet block is immaculate but there were a few areas that did not impress. 2 mornings I had a cold shower, the 3rd morning I had a hot but a trickle of water shower. There are approx 8 sinks in the toilet block but only 1 has a soap dispenser. The childrens play park is very small and ball games are also meant to be played in this area. My 3 year old got a football in her face while on a swing. The gate to the play park opens onto the main access into the camp site which isn't ideal. The children were told off for running around the site and when my son picked up some stones (which he collects) he was told off because the warden presumed he was going to throw them. We also felt rushed off the site on our last day having been told there was someone waiting for our pitch. We weren't late to leave and the 2 campers waiting to check in were actually early. We felt the site is better suited to adults only and as a family we wouldn't return.

Immaculate site, friendly welcome. As site was quiet, allowed to chose own pitch which was a bonus.
Lots to do in the area. Must visits are Kielder for walking & cycling etc, Wallington House & Cragside both of which are National Trust. Also take an easy walk from the site to Hareshaw Linn to see the 30ft waterfall. Golf & fishing also possiible nearby. Only downside is the poor road conditions in Northumbria which nearly shook our Motorhome to pieces !!
Had a fab 5 days at this site en route home from Scotland.
Be afraid we shall return!!!!

This was a lovely site. The wardens were really friendly and helpful, had good local knowledge and were able to suggest activites. The village of Bellingham was a short walk away and had a good range of shops, pubs, post office, banks etc. The road into the village was very busy though and when crossing the bridge9by foot) into the village it was a bit 'hairy' if you didn't wait for large vehicles to go over first. There are some lovely walks nearby so it wasn't necessary to take the car out every day. A lovely site which we will visit again and would recommend to others.

On arrival to this site we booked in and were guided to our pitch by Mike, Mike and his friend Steve were staying there also to help there friends Barry and Carole (Franchisees). Mike and Steve were very helpful when we had a problem with our awning, we also got lots of tips from Mike and Steve as we are a couple of newby's to towing a caravan.
The facilities are excellent and well maintained.
We had an excellent time and would recommend this site to young and old, there is something for everyone to do.

On arrival we were given a warm welcome, guided to our pitch and advised on the direction of the prevailing wind to help us decide how to orientate our camper van.
The site is extra clean, the toilet block was spotless and it was a nice surprise to have Radio 2 for company whilst in there.
There is a well equipped reception/shop area with every leaflet you might need for local attractions, with plenty of discounts to use and the site owners offered excellent advice on local attractions, timing etc.
The site offered a free and exclusive Halloween visit from the local Kielder Birds of Prey Centre, and the kids loved seeing the birds in action.
All round I can say I highly recommend this site to all members and visitors.

Overall Disappointing (Club member) reviewed Bellingham Club Campsite...
We arrived to a warm welcome and were escorted to our pitch but the site roads and pitches are very tight to manoeuvre. The grass areas were waterlogged so reaching the EHU was very wet. Toilet block and site was clean and tidy but the reception was only open for a few hours each day with a bell to ring for attention which was either not heard or ignored. Although the site was almost empty with only 10 units the warden still insisted we vacated our pitch by 12 Noon on a Monday departure, very un-flexible which meant we had to find parking off site for a few hours to do a short walk to the Hareshaw Linn waterfall…overall very disappointing

We stayed here as a stop-off on the way home from Scotland, but would happily return. This is a compact but well - set - out site in lovely surroundings, and would make a great base for exploring the area. The only (minor) criticism for us was the poor illumination in the washroom block - I found an early morning (at this time of year) shave rather trying - it is the only site without extra lighting above the mirrors that we have visited - and the push-button code on the access door could be difficult for children, although not a problem for us.

This is one of the best sites we have visited. The staff are exceptionally friendly, welcoming and helpful. They are always willing to help and we often heard them giving detailed information on local places to visit.
The site is close to the friendly village of Bellingham which has several pubs/restaurants, a small supermarket and all the amenities you could want.

Visited the site for their Live and Local event in September featuring local musicians and food. Thoroughly enjoyed the concert and BBQ. Will look for other sites doing similar events. Site is well managed with good facilities and well maintained grounds. It's within walking distance of Bellingham which has a good range of shops and pubs, including a traditional bakers and butchers. Excellent walk up to Hareshaw Linn. Although the site is reasonably local we are likely to visit it again.

What a pleasure this review is going to be to write. This is by far the best Camping and Caravan club site we have ever stayed at. When we first arrived we knew it was extremely well organised by the way the entrance is set out and the orderly fashion we were greeted in and shown our pitch. The facilities are spotless, modern, well organised, easily accessed and just the right number of showers to keep everyone happy. The water is hot - what more could you want! The washing-up area is spotless, heaps of hot water, organised (even washing-up bowls). Our pitch was immaculate, the main field for tents looked orderly and clearly showed the managers had followed a plan and the 6m rule. We were given a brilliant leaflet about the site and area with walking suggestions from the site which we followed successfully and thoroughly enjoyed the waterfall. This site is peaceful, quiet and extremely restful. All the children we saw were playing on a separate park area specially designed for them, having a great time and kicking balls about without upsetting anybody else. If you wanted more there is always Kielder on the door step. From beginning to end (booking by phone) we found Bellingham the site that all other sites should emulate.

The reception upon arrival was a bit underwhelming, especially after just driving 350 miles! At first I thought we had just arrived at a bad time or day - however our stay went downhill. Very specific on how to park your vehicle, and what else you can and cannot do. Speaking with our pitch neighbours they could not wait to move on as they had not enjoyed their time on the site. This site has a five star rating however I think this is because all the effort goes into providing manicured grass and facilities which was all appreciated, however perhaps some of that effort should be put into customer service. Perhaps we were unlucky and were just booked in at the wrong time. Generally a clean, tidy site with good facilities but a bit exposed on windy nights. As others have stated the facilities in the neighbouring village are very good.

The site was spotless, toilet block one of the best we've seen. The site was well maintained and in a great area where you can be as active or peaceful as you like.
However: the 'dog walk' is a joke. It is a narrow, almost grassless, very muddy strip (used by bikes - the tracks were visible) and a safety hazard as it was so slippy. The site rules, quite rightly, say that dogs should always be on a lead - ours were. Others were not and were left to wander and toilet where they pleased. We saw the site manager picking up poo near our caravan and we just hope he didn't think it was our dogs that performed there! I spoke to the owner of one of the wandering dogs and he agreed with me about the dog walk - said his dog wouldn't use it. Many dog owners walked their dog to the grass strips at the front entrance instead of using the 'dog walk'.
The sign outside the shop states 'in our shop today' fresh bread - well, it doesn't, not every day. When I asked the lady who served me said 'I don't think she's ordered it. We might have some at the weekend.'
On the whole a very good site and we would recommend with reservations as above.

At first we thought excellent the facilities are spotless what else could we need? THE ANSWER BEING CARE AND CONSIDERATION WHEN GIVING PITCHES!!! Everyone in a tent was given a pitch which after 3days were completely water logged!!! If the site does not want to accommodate people in tents say that in the brochure and we'll find somewhere else to go! The whole site definitely needs a suitable drainage system put in! DO NOT GO NEAR THIS SITE WITHOUT MIDGE PROTECTION AS ITS OVER RUN WITH THEM and the owners don't give any information about them and even go so far as to deny a problem when approached! They should spend more time on getting information right and less on cutting the grass to cover up their very significant problems!! WOULD NOT RECOMMEND AND WOULD NEVER RETURN!!!

This is a absolute gem of a campsite in Northumberland, we arrived to a warm welcome from the staff and we were quickly shown to our pitch. The staff were only too helpful a special thanks to Barry who helped me restart my car with a jumper pack after I had left my electric cool box plugged in to the car. Five minutes after asking for help my car was running again.
The facilities are very well kept and spotlessly clean. It was great to see the kids playing in the playground enjoying themselves between the rain showers. Plenty of visitors parking at reception for our friends that visited us on the Saturday.
It's is well positioned to visit keilder or hadrians wall.
This should be the benchmark for all of the club sites and can see why this campsite has been in practical caravans top 100 for the last four years.

We recently stayed in the camping pods and we were very grateful that we were able to book out all 4 for our group. The campsite is spotlessley clean and a great location but I must comment on how unfriendly and strict the staff were on our visit. It was very clear from the moment we arrived that it was not a child friendly site which was really disapointing as this was the only negative comment we could make - apart from the park could have more play activities. Very very disappointing as it spoilt what would have been a great weekend!

We (self, husband, 2 kids and 1 dog) have stayed at this site a number of times. and we are going back again this year in April, July and August, so it must be good! We like it because it is small, friendly, very clean and quiet. The children can play safely and remain within view, a big plus. We are inexperienced at towing and access is easy.

We spent 4 nights here on our way home from Cairnryan port. What a fantastic site in a great location, ideal for visiting the Northumberland National Park, Hadrian's Wall and much much more. The site was immaculate as were the toilets and showers. Bellingham village is only a short walk away and has everything you need including a bank, bakery, Post Office, chemist, Co-op and pubs. This was our first visit to this site but it certainly won't be our last.
We have to say a special thank you to Barry who, despite the pouring rain, a howling gale and us arriving late due to having broken down en route still managed to greet us with a smile - a welcome we really appreciated!!

As a first time camper (altho we stayed in the pods) I was amazed by how clean everything was. The toilets & showers were spotless (and I agree with a previous reviewer that it's nice to have radio 2 playing in there!) I liked the strict rules re quiet time - I have heard horror stories of other camp sites with all night parties.
Would like to have had an electricity socket in the pod, but that's my only negative.
Will def stay again.

We found the site easy to find with easy access, plus a helpful warden to help you to site your unit. Due to the bad weather the site was wet but Barry did explain why it did not drain quickly. On a return visit we will choose to be sited on a hardstanding and not grass. Washrooms were very clean. Recycling facilities were excellent. Play area is small but adequate for the size of the site. Adults were requested to supervise children in the area but we observed very little adult supervision. With one noisy element the site team were very professional, and skilfully dealt with the problem. The local shops were helpful and the people very friendly. We were lucky to be on site for the Bellingham Country show which was well worth a visit. We enjoyed exploring the area and don't rule out a return visit.

We stayed in the pods and found them to be excellent. We have stayed in pods before on another site, and the Pods at Bellingham have lots of extras. The internal lights and heater, and outside storage chest and clothes airer were all very useful. The only thing missing is an electric plug socket or hook up for our electric coolbox. An added electric socket would make these pods 10/10. The site is lovely, peaceful, very well maintained and Carole & Barry are very helpful. The toilet and showers blocks were immaculately clean and private.

This is a difficult review to write, owing to the weather we endured over 4 wet nights at the beginning of August 2011. Considering the size of the site, the dire weather and school holidays, it is the quietest site we have ever stayed at.
FACILITIES - excellent and spotless. Heated showers - great. The staff were helpful and efficient. WiFi available for a donation to a MAG, a landmine charity. Did not use shop but it has produce and so on.
Glad we did not have young children - only a very small playground (which got very muddy) and little room to kick a ball.
PITCHES - we were glad we were in a camper and not a tent as this site got very wet and in some areas appears to be poorly drained. Our hard-standing was barely above water and the surrounding grass areas were very wet with standing water.
We're hardened campers and walkers, but some investment needs to be made in land drainage to justify the relatively expensive pitch fees - it is NE England!
MISCELLANEOUS
Petrol and diesel in nearby Bellingham - this is a rural area with very few fuel stations!
Good choice of pubs - the hotel nearest the site is recommended.
We would return only if dry weather could be assured :-)

This was our first time on a club site and expected it to be very busy and noisy but it was the opposite! The owners were very friendly and the site was very well organised. Couples were put at one end of the site and families pitched nearer the play area, which means it is a great and peaceful site for couples but not too quiet that kids don't feel they can play and run about.
The toilets and showers were spotless with washing cubicles as well as showers. The shop had everything you'd need and extras such as maps and gifts.
Perfect location for exploring Kielder forest, Northumberland, the borders and the north pennines. The only thing I recommend is midge repellant, they are savage!! but this will be the same for any site in this area in the summer. Can't fault the site at all will definately be back!

Lovely clean and well run site, but, wouldn't allow us a wind break due to 6m regs, which made it tricky when cooking outside as it was windy, also were very picky about exactly where we and the couple next door pitched (lots of measuring). Very pretty and friendly village, well stocked co-op, fab little bakery next door and The Cheviot Hotel across the road does delicious take out pizza! A couple of friends and I, decided to visit this site, and could not have been happier. It was my second visit, and the site was as womderful as I remembered it.
We received a warm greeting when arriving on the site, checking in quickly, and were shown to our pitches, in the middle of the site, and advised which way to pitch the tents to get the most of the sun.
The toilet block is immaculate, always plenty of toilet roll, plenty sinks and shaving points, 3 large showers, and a stool for each, which I appreciated as I do need to sit down for a shower. The music was a nice touch too, I beleive it was radio 2 that was playing.
The shop is what you would expect, well laid out, selling the basics, along with some frozen foods, a tourist information point, with alot of leaflets and helpful staff.
The only negative I can say about this site, is during our stay, the wifi was not working, it was not the end of the world, and we had been previously advised it was not operating properly, however they are getting a new wifi system in, which will work alot better.
On the last trip I made to this site, I did the hairshaw'lynn walk, which was wonderful, but this time we opted to head to kielder, where we walked a small amount, then got the boat round the water. We didn't leave the site apart from to head into town, and get a chinese takeaway. The chinese is one of the best I have tasted, and the portions are large. I would advise sharing portions, between 2 people.

One of our top 2 sites, mainly for the welcome we always receive - it feels like coming home! Set in beautiful wild countryside yet with the village of Bellingham ( a genuine village and not a tourist hotspot)a short walk away. A short drive will take you to the attractions of Keilder water, the Roman wall and the towns of Hexham and Corbridge.
The site is easy to find and reception has loads of local information as well as a small shop with most essentials. Anything you can't find or are unsure of simply ask Barry or Carole. The site is level and someone will always direct you to your pitch and the toilet block is always immaculate.
We were astounded to read a review saying that the site was not child friendly! This is a happy and friendly site with a small playground and plenty of space between the pitches and most certainly our daughter(13) has received only warmth and friendship from everyone here. She was particularly impressed last year to see Barry walking around the site on a hot day with a bucketful of ice lollies! We have no hesitation in recommending the franchisees, the site, the village and the surrounding countryside.

We stayed here at the October half-term. This is a great little site in a great location. The toilets and showers are the cleanest we have ever seen, and we are fussy about these things. The site is compact and was quiet, particularly at night. It has a little shop with all the necessities.
Bellingham village was only a short walk away and it has everything you need. Can recommend the pies from the bakery. We found the Riverdale Hotel the best place to eat and drink and we had a delicious and reasonably priced meal in the bar.
This was our first time in Northumberland and we were pleasantly surprised by how much there is to do. The site wardens were very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. The weather wasn't great but we walked on Hadrians Wall and also visited the huge lake at Kielder Water.
We would recommend this site and we will visit it again, hopefully for longer next time.

Nice site though staff a bit pernickety about pitches. Not the relaxed atmosphere usually found on club sites.
Within walking distance of Bellingham village.

Was a very nice site but was far too quiet for the children, with the park closing at 8.15.
Have to say it was the 1st time my 12 yr old was in bed for 8.30.

we were unfortunate to break down on the way to site,we arrived getting towed by AA. Staff at bellingham couldn't be more helpful, they even sited the caravan while we were sorting out our car problems. the site is very clean, the staff are all friendly and helpful. dog walk is great with no little surprises on the ground,we have been 3 times - would we go back - you bet we will.Only downside - yes there was one - no fault of site ,problem was on football pitch when England got beat by germany....Please try belligham you will not be disappointed

We continue to spend several days at this time of year in Bellingham - the site is very well maintained, and this includes extremely clean shower facilities. Perfect!
Bellingham town is only a short walk away from the caravan site; it has a well stocked a Co-op store, a newsagents, a Chinese take-away, a couple of banks, a homely tea shop and a few pubs! The town boasts the added attraction of their annual show (good fun for all) at the end of August. Also, not far from the caravan site, there are some scenic walks along the river bank - and beyond.
There's lots of Roman history in the area; also it's only a short drive to Kielder and, for example, to Otterburn.
Well worth a visit (or a return visit) - the site managers, Barry & Carole Howard are lovely people and who, in our opinion, run a first class site.

Fantastic two weeks. Immaculate facilities, very friendly and helpful staff. Good local provisions in nearby town. Excellent area for walkers, bikers, cyclist, and real ale drinkers. We will be back, and thank you to all the staff.
