We stayed late bank holiday in May, the staff could not have been more helpful. Originally we had only been able to book a two night stay but wanted to stay an extra night. The staff member we spoke too could not have done any more for us; they checked the site and the result was that we were able to stay on our pitch for an extra night. Thank you for a lovely weekend.

Visited this site in February to check it out as we were looking for a site near to where our son lives. The reception staff were very helpful and invited us to have a stroll round the site to check it out. The facilities were 1st class and we subsequently joined the Club and have just spent 5 very pleasant days there and have already booked again for later in the year. There really is something for everyone. Whether you have young children, a dog or are more mature this site caters for all. The shower/toilet blocks are kept immaculate. As for local attractions there are the Broads nearby, forest walks, interesting towns/cities such as Norwich and Bury St. Edmunds nearby (the market here is worth a visit) and it's not far from the coast with Great Yarmouth if you like the amusements or more peaceful towns like Southwold. Try this site I'm sure you will enjoy it.

Stayed for 3 nights over end of May bank holiday. This was our 2nd visit to Thetford Forest and can only reiterate everything I said in my review following our stay in August 2012 (excellent), apart from very disappointed that the no ball game rule wasn't enforced either by site staff or parents! We have a little boy ourselves, so it's not a case of not understanding that kids love to kick a ball, but the site has a decent size ball playing field within the playground area so no excuse really for ball games to have been constantly played in the pitched areas. Lost count of the number of times a ball was kicked against our tent. A shame, as we love the site but it would make us re-think revisiting during busy periods.

A very clean and well kept site. This site is very well managed. A flat and level site with ample sized pitches as long as you explain what you are bringing. Toilets are very clean and well kept. The showers are very good with free shower gel per cubical. Washing up area has lashings of piping hot (and I MEAN) hot water. The local woods are great to explore on foot or cycle. The staff are very friendly and helpful and a member of staff showed us to our pitch and pointed out our space we had. My only negative is the small fishing pond. It is only small, some 50m by 20m at most, containing tiny Rudd and not much else yet to fish it cost £3.50 for half a day. My daughter was hoping to have an hour fishing here and there over the weekend but this put us off. I'm sure this could be offered for free. BUT... I'm an angler and I notice this sort of thing. I would recommend this site and will be returning because i loved the walks in the woods.

We enjoyed our stay immensely and have no complaints to make. The staff were very helpful, letting us choose a pitch and advising that, since it was quiet, we could face our unit out with a better view and more sun exposure. They also had advise on where to walk and ride bikes to. Beautiful weather, very peaceful, barely noticed any road noise. Saw lots of deers in the forest! Facilities are excellent, shop has essentials but there is a Tesco in Thetford anyway. Museums in Thetford worth a visit. Would love to come again :-)

we have just returned from a 3 night stay at this site, it was our second visit having previously visited some 2 years ago.
As it was a Bank Holiday weekend it was quite busy and we have no problem with that.
In general terms the site is excellent and a joy to stay at.
We do have some constructive points to raise and hope these will be taken in the spirit that they are intended.
The Facilities are excellent but the entry to the shower cubicles in the main block has a slight raised step that is not marked and I observed two other guests that nearly came to grief when exiting the cubicle, a hi-viz tape or strip is all that's needed to resolve this problem.
A notice is displayed on the main block requesting that guests do not ride cycles around the block area, sadly I saw 4 instances when this instruction was ignored and accompanying parents allowed their children to do this to the consternation of other guests, a real danger that will result in serious injury unless the rule is observed. the site can only ask people to observe the rule, but perhaps the point can be emphasised to guests when they book in initially.
We realise the reason for the showers auto cut off to limit wastage of water etc, bit the ones we used only ran for some 5 secs before cut off which is rather over the top and difficult for users with arthritis in hands and need both hands to bathe themselves, not user friendly and need adjustment.
We was situated near to the entrance to the one way system and witnessed several users who chose to exit the wrong way , fortunately no one was entering at the time but could have been very different>>?
This is great site but standards have somewhat slipped since our last visit, we hope that our points raised will be seen as helpful feedback..

A fantastic site right on the edge of the forest with miles of beautiful paths accessed straight from the site. The site managers couldn't have been more friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We stayed over the bank holiday weekend. The site was almost full but remained peaceful. The facilities were spotless and our young boys loved the huge playing field and play equipment. If you are looking for a friendly, relaxed site in a beautiful setting with plenty of space for youngsters burn off their energy, we couldn't recommend this one highly enough.

Just got back after spending 2 nights here. Very friendly staff, was able to choose where we wanted to be. Toilet and showers were very clean.
There is an enclosed dog area which was very convenient to us. The forest next door has lots of paths to walk in. A very enjoyable time was had especially as it was a glorious sunny weekend.

We have stayed on this site a lot - 4 months on a seasonal pitch plus on several other occasions.
I can't imagine how any site could be better. The staff are helpful and efficient, facilities are spotless and modern and Thetford Forest is literally on the doorstep.
There is plenty of space whether you want an all action break or just to site and relax.
Highly recommended.

Booking in was quick and easy. Staff were friendly and helpful. Recycling of paper/plastic etc is actively encouraged, which we liked. The peace and tranquility was very noticable during our stay, but it was during a very cold spell in February. Clean washroom facilities with lovely large toilet and shower cubicles. The only negative would be that the shower only worked in 15 second bursts and the shower curtain attacked me every time the water stopped! Good walking and cycling opportunities, both directly off the site and at nearby Brandon. Would have no hesitation to stay again.

Stayed here several times and always enjoy our stay..does get very busy at peak times and weekends...with regard to a previous comment on staying later on a Sunday...we nearly always arrive on a Sunday and it is very frustrating to arrive on site at 12.30 and find lots of units still occupying pitches that should have left by 12pm...on our last visit we were booking in for a 2 week stay at 12.30 and the site was still very full and choice of pitches very limited...but by 4 pm site had lots of pitches as people had then gone...very frustrating for us as we had all the awning up etc and didn't want to then move..feel that more people should respect the 12pm leaving time and perhaps the site managers should enforce it a bit more...
Can be noisy at times with the training ground at the back and the nearby main road...
We love airplanes so that noise isn't a bother to us but could be for some people....
Site always very clean ...but shower blocks do struggle on times when the site is full as it does attract a lot of families with children and they seem to fill the toilet facilities...

We stayed in the beging of april just as the weather went bad again. Dispite that the staff were very helpful and friendly. the designated ball playing area was great as was the kids play area. we enjoyed exploring the woods as a family with our two children,(3 and 2) and our two dogs. the free wifi was spot on. The only down side was that due to the amount of rain we had some places on the site were a little water logged and there was a flood on the access road just off the main road. Other than that would happily stay there again.

First time camping with a tent for 28 years and this site ensured it was a great experience. Friendly welcome and helpful staff throughout our stay. Great to get TV hookup at reasonable cost and free WiFi. Only gripe was 50p to hire a relatively small ice pack - if they must charge they should provide a decent size but part of our learning curve - will take an electric coolbox next trip.
Our dogs loved it as well - the forest walks from the site were great and the small dog exercise area was great to let them off their leads.
The clean well provisioned toilet and shower block was never busy but we suspect might be busier at peak periods and weekends.

This was our first camping holiday and was fantastic. The site was clean and felt very safe and secure so our children could happily rides their bikes around. We only stayed for 4 days and spent 3 of these walking or riding around the forest, the other day we spent in Bury St. Edmunds which was a lovely place. The facilities on site are first class and enabled us to really relax and enjoy our break. If there were to be a downside.... it's that the bar has now been set incredibly high for our next trip! Thank you x

On returning to a tent after a 10 year absence from caravanning and camping (we now have 3 grandchildren who love the idea of camping), for our second outing this year on our own, we must have picked the best week of the summer for weather, and thoroughly enjoyed our 6 day stay at this site. Staff extremely helpful and comments from an early review regarding tv aerial and freezer blocks were welcome. We loved the way that, once you had used the showers, a mop and bucket is left so you can leave the cubicle ready for the next person. We never saw the facilities in a mess which is nice to say about the staff and fellow campers. It really is a delightful area and will return hopefully next year. Everybody on site was very friendly. Had the best hot baguette ever in Watton (hot beef sliced whilst you watched and dipped in gravy at one of the local butchers). We kept our visits to just the local area and can't wait to go back to this site to explore the area more fully.

Just the two of us with the dog and we loved this site and will be back. Didn't really use the dog walk because access to the woods is so easy. Plenty of dog bins but not enough showers for the size of the site. We loved the walks, especially down to the Dog and Partridge (follow the quiet lane from the site to peddars way) where they love dogs and do a really excellent game pie.

Just returned from a two night stay - could not fault the staff - very friendly and helpful - loved the forest walks with our dog - amazing scenery and so peaceful (in the woods!) my only gripe really were the facilities - the campsite had a lot of children there due to summer hols and really unless you had your shower very early it would have been difficult - needs a much bigger toilet block - will definitely return when kids are at school!!

This was my first outing with my young son in our new tent. The staff were very friendly, the site itself was very clean and the showers/toilets equally clean. The large activity field was great for playing football or riding bikes around in and the play equipment always had a group of children playing on it. We had great weather but no shade on most of the site so our wind break came in handy to give us the shade we needed out of the hot sun. Despite only living locally would definately go again for a long weekend as once you are off the road you could be anywhere. The forest at your feet to go exploring in or just a leisurely walk. The Fish & Chip van on Friday night (arrives at 7.15pm) is very popular so get there early as they will be lining up from 6.30pm or sitting in chairs which made us laugh. The shop is small with just the basics so if you wanted something to cook for dinner you would need to visit one of the local Tesco. Nice pub only a few miles away The Angel at Larling or the Eagle in Great Hockham, both a short car journey. Highly recommend a stay at this site.

1st time camping with the children (age 5 and 3). They loved it. Campsite was lovely, very clean and staff were great and had a choice of spot you wanted to pitch your tent which was good . Kids playground and field was perfect and a very safe campsite for children to ride around on bikes etc.
The only negitive is the shop could of been a little better as wasn't really much in there.

Simply Fantastic. Staff are very friendly and helpful. We were camping with electric and selected a pitch (from available pitches on board at reception) beside one of the entrances to the forest which was ideal for our dog although the dog walk on site is perfect for first thing in the morning/last thing at night. Direct access from site to lovely forest walks, distance of routes colour coded. The toilet blocks are immaculate, both blocks have a family bathroom, £10 refundable deposit for a key. Laundry available at a charge. The playground on-site although not huge is sufficient and the open space around the playground is ideal for ball games etc. The only slight downside was you can't refreeze your own ice blocks. They supply ice blocks on site at a charge, £2 refundable deposit per block with a 50p usage charge per block. Watton 6 miles away has a large Tesco and we found a fabulous butchers (Steven Smiths) which has a carvery style hot counter that serves a choice of hot baguettes, beef/pork/turkey, stuffing & selection of sauces at very reasonable prices and not at all shy with the amount of filling. Meat for BBQ also very reasonable and delicious! There is another large Tesco with petrol station in Thetford, 7 miles from site. High Lodge Forest Centre is well worth a visit, our little boy (3 yrs old) loved all the play equipment along the forest trails, suitable for all ages and for teenagers there's Go Ape. There is a parking charge of £1.90 per hour but you can buy a weekly parking pass for £15 so if visiting more than once well worth getting the weekly pass. Food/drinks very expensive and the staff in the cafe are extremely off-hand & rude!, worth bringing a picnic. We also took a trip to Dinosaur Adventure, what a brilliant park, lots to do. In addition to the Dinosaur trails there are various play areas & an animal encounter, but again bring a picnic as food/drinks prices are extortionate! We highly recommend this site & can't wait to return.

Overall the site was very good and staff very helpful. The downside was there were too many dogs-4 in the motorhome next to us.Most people had more than 1.When 1 started barking they all did. Also on arrival to our pitch we noticed dog excrement which was quickly removed by the warden and an apology given. The same situation occured a few days before leaving - dog excrement, again this was removed quickly. If you are thinking of using this site its worth considering these comments as you will always get the minority dog owners spoiling it, which it did for us.We are animal lovers but don't own a dog.

Show block was first class very clean and lots of hot water. The Shop stocked some small items but limited for a full weekly shop (ha ha ).
You could access the woods via a small gate and you can walk or ride your bike for miles very peaceful.

This must be the freindliest site ever. We had a fantastic week over the Jubilee period. The staff really got involved with the Jubilee theme and made it lots of fun. None stop entertainment in the form of quizzes (we came joint 2nd!), 'Royal' appearances, world records, treasure hunts etc etc Never a dull moment despite the rain!
Can't understand the previous review about lack of facilities, cramming people in etc. We just didn't see it that way at all. The pitches are generous in size and in close proximity to the beautiful forest - good for walking and cycling. We don't have a dog and there were a lot on site but they were all on leads and didn't present any problems whatsoever for our 2 young children. We particularly liked the family bathroom. Yes you have to pay £10 deposit for the key but you get it back at the end of your stay.
Great children's play area - had to drag our children away, even during the downpours!
Nothing bad to say about this site - we had a wonderful time. Many thanks.

We also stayed over the Jubilee weekend and following week. Yes, the site was FULLY booked, and yes with lots of children about - but it was half term and jubilee!!! We were on hardstanding and I was amazed at the size of the pitch with grassed area to side. Even though the site was really busy I never felt crowded. Actually I thought the children were pretty well behaved on site all things considered. Dogs barking in the middle of the night was rather more annoying (and I speak as an ex dog owner). The staff couldn't be faulted in terms of friendliness and helpfullness. Full marks. It was a bit of a traipse to the bins, especially with the amount of rain we've had, and can understand how frustrating that would be for less mobile campers. Playground facilities and field were great. Efforts over jubilee events were top notch. Think a lot more could be done about the toilet facilities though. Fortunately we make use of onboard facilities mostly, but when we did use toilet block, even after they had just been cleaned, it wasn't great. Think they could do with being cleaned twice a day when site is busy. Also, clothes left at the dishwashing facilities to wipe down the sinks after use (as often found on sites) would be useful. We always take our own washing up bowl to use in the sink. I wouldn't want to use our washing up sponge to wash down the sink facilities after use, but equally wanted to leave it clean & dry for the next person. Had to settle for a good rinse with cups of water. Cycling in the forest would have been good....but thanks to weather we only got out there once. Tesco within short (5mile ish) distance. The bus stop "outside" the campsite is actually on a busy road with no pavement - or you can take a 15mins plus walk to the local village centre - didn't try it so not sure if pushchair friendly. Jet aircraft noise was a bit of a nuisance. All in all though a nice site and would definitely stay again if we were in the area.

Really nice site with both traditional field with large trees and a more modern hardstanding area. 2 lots of facilities kept very clean and of a good standard.
Most importantly very well drained and even though we had horrendous weather it just poured down no mud walked into the van or awning.
Rubbish is kept away from the main areas and is divided for recycling. Small lake/large pond for fishing and many walks through the Forest.
Looking forward for an excuse to go back when the weather is a bit better

Our first impressions of this site were very good, we had a lovely quiet corner pitch close to a shower block. Unfortunately it went downhill from there, the shower block near us wasn't open on the first day, so we had to traipse across to the only other block. As it was jubilee weekend the site started to fill up the second day we were there, and I mean fill up, they really cram them in and this is a huge site. In total (in the ladies )there are 7 showers (across the two blocks) and 5 courtesy cubicles (only in the main block none in the smaller block). The main block was nice and warm but the other block was freezing so not really usable even when it was open. I can only speak for the ladies facilities but on a site with 150 pitches I think the facilites are very lacking. The other problem we had was finding a rubbish bin, after searching for quite a while we found the only bins on site, the big green ones the council collect which are OUTSIDE THE EXIT BARRIER. If you are on one of the lower fields it is one heck of a walk, if you are disabled like me you will have to drive to them. Also there is one disabled toilet, you will have to pay £10 for the key and then pay 50p for water if you want a bath! Once the site started to fill up there were kids on bikes flying around everywhere without a care in the world, and I have never seen so many dogs in one place. Our "neighbour" arrived with 3 large dogs and proceeded to erect wire fencing around his pitch complete with gate! If you are a family or dog owners this site is fantastic for you, but if you want a quiet time don't go here on a weekend or holiday.

We have stayed on this site several times now and we just can't fault the staff and the site.Every visit there is something new in the way of planting and improving the site it self. This time we were glad to see a secure exercise area for dogs wonderful for our Cairn terrier. We must also say a big thank you to Rob and his friends for helping with our van when we left which came of the ball hitch !! New learning curve there for us always check it is on !! A lovely site, very peacful, right on the edge of the forest with good direct access from the sire if you fancy a walk. Excellent enclosed dog walk to allow dogs to run off the lead. First class toilet/shower facilities with cubicles for basins. The toilets are closed for cleaning for 1 hour but the other block can be used during this time. A real retreat from busy life. Excellent play area for the children. We had pitch 112 which was great for catching the evening sun as it sets behind the trees.

Nice site, warm welcome, unfortunately main toilet/shower block closed so everyone had to use the only block available which had only 2 loos and 2 showers which wasnt satisfactory. On the weekend families arrived which wasnt a problem, but site rules regarding ball games being permitted in the designated area only were completely ignored and there was no sign of any wardens on site all Saturday. The arrival of footballers one side and tennis players (accompanied by Maria Sharapova style grunting)on the other made for a less than peaceful weekend.
I would have hoped that the Club would enforce its rules so all units can enjoy themseles, not just the noisy ones.
Perhaps we shall only visit on weekdays next time and leave weekends to the "noisies".

We received a great welcome, the staff were very friendly and helpful particularly when reversing onto our pitch in several inches of snow. There are some lovely short walks next to site but for those wanting a longer/more strenuous walk you must drive to Thetford forest visitors centre about 15mins away. Unfortunately the facilities let this site down significantly; one shower block was closed leaving only 4 showers in total and these were freezing on more than one occassion...ICE COLD! The water pressure was poor, it appeared that the shower block was not able to cope with all 4 showers being used at once resulting in us either using the shower in our caravan or waiting until lunchtime to shower impacting on our holiday somewhat! We understand that the weather was particularly cold and the snow may have had some impact however you do expect at least a warm shower each day, we regularly go to motorbike racing events and would have to say that the washing facilities there have been better than those with which we were faced on this site. Overall we had a nice break but would recommend this site for a short break but beware the showers!

A good play area with swings, climbing frame, etc for the kids that also included a field for ball games and general running around where dogs where not permitted.
Separate dog exercise area where you could let your dog off the lead for a good run around.
We found the site very clean with one of the toilet blocks having a handy family room.

We only booked for one night on this site. When I phoned to make the booking the person I spoke to over rode the policy of having to book for two nights over weekends. We arrived just after 12:30pm to a friendly welcome. I had the site layout explained to me and was told we could choose any hard standing pitch. The pitch's were a good size and well laid out. There was free wifi on site. The facilities had been limited to one block and several of the toilets had been made unavailable as was some of the showers, which was understandable with the few units on the site. The surrounding forest was a lovely dog walking area especially in the snow which we had woke up to on the Sunday morning. We would definately come back here!!

We went for a short break to try out our motorhome. The warden was very friendly and helpful welcoming us to the site. The site was well maintained and tidy, the main toilet block was open, very clean. Unfortunately there are steps up to the facilities which were difficult for someone with a disability or elderly. The disabled toilet was across the other side of the site and locked for the winter. It was a long way from our pitch so didn,t bother to ask for it to be opened. On our last day we seached for a bin to dispose of our refuse, having done the whole circumference of the site without success we gave up. This is a fantastic site for dog lovers, superb dog excercise area, easy access to the forest. We would use the site again.

Had a brilliant weekend here. The site was easy to find, and we were shown to our pitch by a friendly member of staff. Being the time of year it was the site was very quiet and we had a whole field to ourselves. Theres a great dog exercise enclosure, plenty of dog bins dotted about and some wonderful marked walks in the local area for those with dogs. The children enjoyed the play area, but were unable to do any fishing as the lake is closed due to low water levels. Toilet and shower facilities were amazingly clean and couldn't be faulted at all. Unpleasant experience of this site - impersonal. We rang several days in advance to say that we might not quite make their reception closing time of 8pm, as we were travelling from afar on a very busy weekend - they listened and didn't offer any advise. On the journey there we rang again to say we had made time and would be only 45 mins late (arriving 8.45). We were told that it would be too late and we'd have to use the car park outside of the site. Fine. I accept rules. However, it was difficult as we have two young children and we were not sure if we were allowed to use facilities and without a plan of site didn't know where they where either. This was made worse by the fact there was a member of staff milling around and other families casually driving in and out of site, late! The next morning I spoke to reception about how this made us feel and was told it was all down to CLUB POLICIES. However, on the second night we were awoken by a large group of adult campers setting up camp with headlights blinding us and this was all happening at 11pm!!! Why were the rules different for them? I noticed they didn't have small children either... Won't be going near this discourteous site again. I would also like to hear what the site has to say about casually bending their strict policies!

just returned from a 5 day break. We are a family of 6 with a baby, 2, 8 and 10 year olds. The play area and adjacent field were fabulous for our children and the older 2 spent much of their time over there, they took their bikes and the site is safe for them to ride around on. The toilet/shower blocks were kept nice and clean, I went over to them late in the evening on a couple of occasions and they were being cleaned then. My two gripes, the showers lasted 6 seconds before having to press the button again!!, I know they want to conserve water/electricity etc but that is ludicrous, no one is able to wash in 6 seconds!, and when trying to wash such a pain to keep pressing the button or be able to hold it in. There are also no facilities which families can use without first having to pay a £10 deposit for the key, which we were not told when we arrived so when we went to bath the baby on our first evening we couldnt get into the room. Armed with the key on the second evening we went to bath the baby only to find you had to pay 50p each time you wanted to have hot and cold water dispensed into the bath, we abandoned the idea altogether as we had no idea how much that was going to cost, the mummy before us had paid £1.50 and left a bath full of bubbles because she couldnt rinse it out. The disabled toilet was also locked. The parent and toddler room was locked and up a flight of stairs, so again not user friendly for taking a buggy into, if it was even large enough to take one but as we didnt go in I cant say, in the end we resorted to bathing the baby in one of our storage containers in our tent!!. Disappointing as meant to be family friendly site, and it is so much easier when everyone is able to pile into one room and shower. But all that said we will definitely return, it was quiet and relaxing with nice walks into the forest outside your tent, and staff friendly.

We really liked this site, easy access to the forest, well kept site, a large playing area and equipment. The only things that jarred were the inadequate showers which, if all the showers in the block were being used, the water trickled down the wall! Also if you have a young family and want to use the family shower you will have to hope that you manage to get hold of a key. There are only six and these are given out to six families who keep them for the duration of their stay. I didn't get one and had to try and shower three children and myself in the shower cubicle which as they are fairly small was almost impossible. It doesn't seem equitable that all families pay the same rate but only some have access to all the family facilities. We won't be visiting again.

A beautiful site, with a warm and friendly welcome from the very efficient staff.
We picked this site for its proximity to the forest and walks, access to the woods is directly from the site and this was great for walking the dog. The on-site dog exercise area is a super idea and gave our dog the chance to have some off lead fun & let off steam!.
The Kids area is great and our youngest spent most of his time there making friends.
The facilities as with all the C&CC sites we have stayed at are superb, they are clean, plentiful and we never had to queue. The only slight niggle we had is that both blocks were closed for cleaning at the same time, leaving you without access to the facilities for an hour if you needed it!
The free wifi was very reliable, which pleased our 14year old!.
There are some rules at the site but nothing that you wouldn't expect and it made for a nice quiet site and a very relaxing stay....well done C&CC club for another lovely site, just wish you could control the weather as it rained for over 24hours constant during our august 4 night stay but the site didn't suffer as it is very well drained so no horrible muddy puddles or flooded pitches!.
Would definately recommend and will return again.

This site i nothing short of fantastic. We are a family of five with three children under 10. The amount of play space for the children is great. I would recommend to the site that they put photo's of the play equiptment on the page. As a parent, the play facilities are a huge factor in where we choose to stay. We requested a pitch near the play area and were able to see our youngest (who is four) running about playing. Everything is clean, if you want a quieter break you can request to be over by the fisheing pond which is very very difficult for a child to get close to without an adult as it it fenced off and gated. All in all a great site. Our only critisism is the site man who asked us to move our tent over to the edge of the pitch (It meant moving everything (but only by about 2 foot) as he said that people to the right of us would need at least 6ft between us and their tent. We fully understood and moved over a bit. However when people came in on the left they were not given the same advice and this resulted in us having less space for the couple of days they were there... Slightly irritating but ALL other staff were very friendly and it didn't spoil our holiday. We had a thoroughly great time, were able to give the children lots of freedom :).

Great site that has been thoroughly thought out. Facilities are excellent and always kept clean. There was always help at the reception and the shop was nicely stocked with the essentials. The walks into the adjacent forest were lovely and gave the dogs a good walk in a new area. Worth taking an OS map (or buy one at the shop) so you can explore the Peddar Way and the Pingo Trail. Pitch sizes are very generous and the ground is very sandy under the grass; so no bent pegs. We've really enjoyed the peace and relaxation that we came for.

Very nice too! We really can't fault this site. The kids & I spent a day fishing on the small but well stocked lake, & caught some beautiful Rudd & Tench on pellet & corn. This really is a beautiful place to go & relax. Also if there are any families out there who have yet to discover the magic of 'Bewilderwood' near norwich, we would highly recommend that too!

Although the staff are v friendly and helpful and the facilities are clean. I don't think I will be going back to this site. If you have children or dogs it probably is a v good site, but for someone with neither I found it very busy. The only highlight for me was the Dog and Partridge pub at Wretham but you must have some form of transport to get anywhere. The road alongside the camp is very busy with cars and lorries speeding past. Also, there seemed to be a lot of 'NO' rules to adhere to.

We stayed here in March and as it was enjoyable then we returned in June. In March only one set of facilities was open due to "the weather - cold" so we expected both sets to be open in June. They were for the first night - Sunday - but then they were closed for the rest of our stay. Had we (and the other 12 units I'm sure) been told that they would be closed, we would have put our unit nearer the other facilities. In all my 11 years of C&CC membership I have never known facilities to be closed in June. One pair of site managers were very nice and helpful while the others insisted we moved our motorhome, although there was at least 5 meters, and a corner, between us and the next unit. Also, there were no refuse facilities around the site - the bins were outside the exit barrier. This is not my usual expectation (and findings) of C&CC sites.

We spent 5 nights camping at Thetford Forest with our 2 boys at the beginning of June. The site was easy to find and the staff were extremely friendly & helpful. The site is beautiful and well maintained. Our 2 boys loved the play area and we struggled somedays to get them away from it as they had made so many friends. Take a walk through the forest. The yellow route markers seem to disappear half way round. You could end up walking 5 miles instead of 2!! Get there early on a Friday night for the Chippy van to avoid disappointment. We highly recommend the meat man on Saturdays. We found the site very relaxing and did not want to come home. The only negative I can think of, and this has no bearing on the site or the staff. Due to the lack of rain, the ground was so hard, I bent a large number of pegs trying to put the tent & windbreak up. We will definitely be back at the same time next year, if not sooner.

Our second visit to the site- the Royal Wedding weekend! Well the site managers were all dressed to impress, it was like runaway bride on a bike! Another friendly welcome here.
A great site for wildlife watching- a hawkmoth came to join me in the shower!
Owls, bats and other wildlife were in abundance, deer roam just outside the site.
The Pingo Trail is a must, a walk along the old railway line. Will be back again.

We have visited this site before, but not for a few years. Just as lovely and friendly as before. Small fishing lake ideal for children. Large play area with swings etc. room for football/rounders etc. Forest all around, lovely for walks and cycling. Large fenced in dog exercise area with a seat. Large reasonably flat pitches. Good clean facilities. Fish and chip van on Friday evenings ideal if you arrive tea time! we will be back.

Our first stay at a C&C Club site, having only joined this season. We came with two adults, two children & one dog, and we all had a great time. The site was ideal for our needs, plenty of space, even when the site was just about full (half term week). The children had plenty of space to play, and the dog exercise area was a great bonus, especially for a 10 month Lab puppy! The site adjoined the forest area, which is accessible straight from the site. The ablutions were always clean and well looked after.
All in all, a great site and we definitely would come back again.

This was the first time we came here, but it won't be the last! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, so much so, that we extended it by two more nights! We enjoyed cycling and walking in the forest, but also the peace and tranquility of the surroundings. It was good to get back in the evenings for a well earned rest and bbq! The children had a wonderful time too. They really loved the forest, but were just as happy on the play area & around our pitch. We have told all our friends about it & we are hoping for another break here in June, friends and all! The staff were very friendly & nothing was too much trouble for them. A great place to stay & enjoy the Norfolk fresh air!

What a great stay! We stayed over the Royal Wedding bank holiday weekend - so the fantastic weather was certainly very welcome.
We were welcomed on site (even though we had arrived early) by a very friendly team, who showed us quickly to our site, and let us know everything we needed for the weekend.
We were staying with three other families - and it was great that we were all pitched in a nice square.
The facilites, and the campsite in general were kept in excellent order. The shop was well stocked with the basics and a few extras - but supermarket shopping was not far away.
The fish and chip van on a Friday night was a hit with the kids - and the food was actually very good as well.
The pitches are all well sized - but not secluded from your neighbours - as they layout is very open.
Due to the low local light - stargazing on a clear night is simply amazing!
This was our first stay on a site as members of C&CC - be warned the next few sites we have booked - you have a lot to live up to!

Although we arrived early (11.30 am) for the Royal Wedding weekend we were made very welcome. The site was packed (combined Bank Holidays and a long spell of sunshine) but there was no queuing for facilties which remained spotless throughout. Great loction - many woodland walks direct from the site, so the cars were untouched for three days. Only "downers" - careless kids whizzing about on fast bicycles, and a very few campers who ignore the 11 pm curfew - but that's not really the site staff's fault. In every other respect, full marks!

We have been coming here - at least once per month since November 2009. The staff are super friendly and helpful and the site and facilities are exceptionally well-maintained. Even during the busiest times they have always been helpful and supportive. Yes - on occasions, they have to deal with a few visitors who don't follow the rules, but they remain calm, friendly and a credit to the Club. The nearby forest is great for dog walking. There are also shops and restaurants in the nearby town of Watton (The Indian is very disappointing but the Chinese is very good). During the summer months the Friday evening chip van, visiting the site, is a 'must' for young and old - so good you will need to join a surprisingly long queue - but the wait is worth it. Out and about there are lots of places to visit - information is available at the site. Many other sites could learn from the approach taken here - justifiable winners of the national award last year.

Excellent! The reason we joined the C&CC. Staff very helpful and always willing to stop and chat - so who are the "magic fairies" who keep every where so clean and tidy? We thought the caravan positioning was for staff to live in, so much thought and attention, never experienced on another site! More facilities than we needed.
Site suitability must be determined by what an individual wants. If you want to go clubbing 'til 4a.m. don't bother to go to Thetford!
As pensioners we enjoyed our stay to the extent we extended it - partly due to the extraordinarily good weather - but we were visited by children and grandchildren who also thought the site excellent. The play area was well appreciated, the only criticism "there's no stream"! Grandchildren!!!!
Our only complaint, like another reviewer, is no fault of the site/staff. People who not only let their dogs off the lead but fail to clean up after them. Inexcusable.
Such a good site I'm reluctant to post this in case it is always full and we shan't be able to return!

Stayed for New Year, staff friendly, little shop with the essentials including tools like a gas bottle spanner as we lost the one we had!
Marquee tent put up so New year could be celebrated with fellow caravanners.
Plenty of dog walking in the forest. Saw interesting fallen tree that looked like a serpentine, interesting in the latest C&C magazine.
Definitely return again.

This was our second visit with a group of friends and we cannot fault the site or the staff. Both trips have been during School & Bank holidays and the assistants have done their upmost to pitch us together. The play area is well-equipped and keeps the children entertained for hours. Facilities are always clean and tidy. Thetford was the first club site that we camped at together and we always compare our other trips to this site. We are yet to find one that we enjoy as much as this.
High Lodge in the forest has a variety of fantastic cycle routes, a cafe, play areas and Go Ape for the adventurous!

We had a 2 night stay, 100 yards from the trees! It was beautiful! The staff were very friendly, helpful and cheerful. Unfortunately some visitors did not stick to the rules of dogs on leads and clear up their mess, but this was at no fault of the site or staff. We had own dog on a lead and cleared up after him, it's not hard folks! We will definately return to the site for future weekend breaks because it only takes an hour for us. thanks for a great weekend. Good facilities. Lovely low level lights at night so that you can appreciate the stars at night.

I don't think I can praise this site and its team highly enough.
This was our second camping trip, our first at a C&CC site. Although we'd been to Centre Parcs in Elveden before, it was our first time in Thetford proper.
Whilst we'd booked a 7 night stay, we only managed a 5 night stay, due to our car breaking down on the first day - thus tarnishing the rest of the trip with stress and aggrivation. On this point, the site staff were absolutely brilliant. They towed our car onto the site for us, and they were always warm and friendly whenever we saw them - always stopping for a chat or at least a wave.
What to say about the site? Well, it was pretty empty, as only mad people camp in January. :D It was very quiet, except for the jet fighters zooming over head frequently. It was very tidy, and very easy to find things.
The facilities were first rate, although only the centre block was open, due to it being a low-peak period, so I cannot atest to the standards of the other facilities on that score. From appearances, it looks the same. The maintainance and upkeep was very good, although lighting in the toilet area was defective, so dealing with a #2 at night - bring a torch!
The local attractions are very far apart and you absolutely need a car if you want to go anywhere around Thetford. I can recommend as a must visit, the Dog and Partridge pub, just down the road. The cider there was fantastic, and the food excellent. The service superb.
Although not one of my best holidays, due to the car problem, I cannot find fault with the site whatsoever. I'd definately go again, and strongly recommend it to anyone.

We arrived to a very warm welcome and were given a variety of pitches to choose from and offered any help we needed. Very pleasant and friendly staff.
The site is deceptively large and spacious. It operates a coded barrier system. There’s a fish & chip van on a Friday night which arrives approx 7.30pm and we can definitely recommend them.
There is a central block with wash up facilities and toilets. The showers were hot and a decent water pressure but they are push button and had to be pressed far too regular (8 secs) which is a pain.
The shop is small but has all essentials and a little bit more, we even got some oil for our bike chains.
There are a few entrances to the forest at the back of the site. It’s great with marked routes for walks and cycle rides. You soon get to know your way round as it is nowhere near as large as Thetford Forest itself but it’s nice for a decent walk or an easy bike ride.
Thetford town has plenty of shops or Norwich is about a 40 minute drive which is a nice city. Closest pub would be The Eagle at Great Hockham and the Dog & Partridge on the main road to Thetford. The Eagle don’t do food and Dog & Partridge has a snacks menu and the food was good and reasonable prices. Nearest supermarkets would be the Tesco at Watton about 6 miles drive or the Sainsburys at Thetford, about 20 minute drive. A great day out would be Thetford Forest (High Lodge, Brandon). Journey takes about 15-20 minutes by car.
The only negatives we can come up with for the site are, lack of lighting on a night, grass could have done with a cut and the showers not staying on long enough but none of them put us off. All in all the site is in a fantastic location with plenty to do nearby and is well kept and clean with helpful staff and great facilities. What more could one ask for. Needless to say we will definitely be returning.

we only started caravanning last year and our visit to Thetford this Xmas/New Year will be our 4th visit there and our 16th trip away since June 2009. As a 50+ couple with a dog we found everything about Thetford exceeded our needs and expectations - friendly staff - super clean facilities and walking our dog through the forest meeting fellow campers and caravanners of all ages has been a sheer delight. The layout of the site allows both freedom to play and privacy and peace to be enjoyed by all in equal measure. p.s. please keep this gem of a site a secret:-)

Wardens were very friendly and weloming on arrival.
We did not found the site peaceful at all due to the Army training in and around the forest. Very noisy low-flying aircrafts many times during the day and night and loud 'bangs' (also day and night)during our stay.
I also appreciate we were warned that the grass was going to be scarified around our caravan, but starting later than 9.15am would have been better, thus giving us chance to get up and go out.

An excellent site and will return again. We have only marked the cleanliness down for the ladies toilets because of how they are left by younger children. At the end of the day, the site staff can only do so much, so not a criticism of them. Excellent base for touring the area and a well laid out site. Great walking and mountain biking, which you can hire on site. You can even take the dog(A large forest on the perimeter). Very nice and relaxed atmosphere, all neighbouring campers seemed very friendly with ideas of places to go. Showers free and excellent. Camp quiet of an evening except for peoples chatter, very relaxing. Bricks available for all low barbeque setups at side of shop. Only gripes would be the rental of icepacks and having to buy them within the shop. I'm sure another method could be thought up. I would also recommend the shop itself not open from 12-1pm for
people in the site as when booking in, it was very busy and the staff seemed to overwhelmed with a pile of kids desperate for sweets and ices (Kids eh!). Maybe one till for the shop, the other for bookings in that hour. It really is nit picking. Its brilliant and we will definately be returning here!!

Our first time out camping, and our first club site - an excellent welcome, and a suprisingly clean and friendly site. Given the site's location there is some added evening entertainment from the local military bases, but this is not too intrusive. The fish and chip wagon is a good idea, and produces a decent meal, at a reasonable price. A good base for visiting East Anglia, with the popular East coast resorts about an hour away - there is a wealth of attractions, to suit all ages within 20 miles of the site, we chose to go a little farther and see some of the attractions near Acle and the broads.
My complements to the staff - a excellent week away, and we will come again!

It was a very friendly and clean site with everything we needed as a family of 5. There were all sorts of parties there eg couples, families young and old. The playpark is ideal for older kids but my 2 year olds were slightly too young, but will enjoy it next year.
Plenty of space for ballgames and playing, and easy access to forest, which has different trails depending how far you want to walk. The situation of the campsite feels secluded and rural, although you are near the main routes to supermarket and Thetford Forest etc.
