Had a brilliant weekend here. The site was easy to find, and we were shown to our pitch by a friendly member of staff. Being the time of year it was the site was very quiet and we had a whole field to ourselves. Theres a great dog exercise enclosure, plenty of dog bins dotted about and some wonderful marked walks in the local area for those with dogs. The children enjoyed the play area, but were unable to do any fishing as the lake is closed due to low water levels. Toilet and shower facilities were amazingly clean and couldn't be faulted at all. We will deffinatly be returning.

Stayed from Saturday to today (Tuesday) 25/10/11. We were "podding" and it has certainly given us the confidence back into camping even if it was getting 'softish' with the extra conveniences e.g heating and electricity!!
Such a break from the norm with shops and eateries pretty close to the site aswell and one last thing can't wait to book up for over the festive period!!

Unpleasant experience of this site - impersonal. We rang several days in advance to say that we might not quite make their reception closing time of 8pm, as we were travelling from afar on a very busy weekend - they listened and didn't offer any advise. On the journey there we rang again to say we had made time and would be only 45 mins late (arriving 8.45). We were told that it would be too late and we'd have to use the car park outside of the site. Fine. I accept rules. However, it was difficult as we have two young children and we were not sure if we were allowed to use facilities and without a plan of site didn't know where they where either. This was made worse by the fact there was a member of staff milling around and other families casually driving in and out of site, late! The next morning I spoke to reception about how this made us feel and was told it was all down to CLUB POLICIES. However, on the second night we were awoken by a large group of adult campers setting up camp with headlights blinding us and this was all happening at 11pm!!! Why were the rules different for them? I noticed they didn't have small children either... Won't be going near this discourteous site again. I would also like to hear what the site has to say about casually bending their strict policies!

Puddledock Farm campsite is a Very Very Clean and Tidy campsite (the toilet & shower blocks are cleaned everyday by staff who know how to clean)there is a washing up area for those in tent's thats just as Clean. All staff are so Friendly,Polite,Very Helpful and show you to your pitch on arrival,Checking in is fairly quick & easy. "Pitches are of a Good Size". For anyone with dogs there are some Fantastic Walks and Wildlife to see. It has a Great Fish'n'Chip van arrive on site every Friday evening also it has a good on site shop. The children's play area is Very well maintained and our daughter has had many hours of Fun and made lots of New Friend's. As for rule's, there are a few (like most site's) But they are Respectful rule's that make it a FANTASTIC place to stay. Children have Fun, the adult's Relax and everyone has respect for each other. WELL DONE to all staff at Puddledock Farm "Don't change a thing as it really is a Fantastic place all down to you all and your hard work" Thank You :-)

Our first visit, a thoroughly enjoyable time - lovely walks in the forest, loads of wildlife to see. Staff very friendly and helpful, good shop on-site and excellent fish and chips from the visiting van!
Only issue seems to be insufficient toilets/showers for the number of people on-site - and it wasn't full by any means when we were there.

just returned from a 5 day break. We are a family of 6 with a baby, 2, 8 and 10 year olds. The play area and adjacent field were fabulous for our children and the older 2 spent much of their time over there, they took their bikes and the site is safe for them to ride around on. The toilet/shower blocks were kept nice and clean, I went over to them late in the evening on a couple of occasions and they were being cleaned then. My two gripes, the showers lasted 6 seconds before having to press the button again!!, I know they want to conserve water/electricity etc but that is ludicrous, no one is able to wash in 6 seconds!, and when trying to wash such a pain to keep pressing the button or be able to hold it in. There are also no facilities which families can use without first having to pay a £10 deposit for the key, which we were not told when we arrived so when we went to bath the baby on our first evening we couldnt get into the room. Armed with the key on the second evening we went to bath the baby only to find you had to pay 50p each time you wanted to have hot and cold water dispensed into the bath, we abandoned the idea altogether as we had no idea how much that was going to cost, the mummy before us had paid £1.50 and left a bath full of bubbles because she couldnt rinse it out. The disabled toilet was also locked. The parent and toddler room was locked and up a flight of stairs, so again not user friendly for taking a buggy into, if it was even large enough to take one but as we didnt go in I cant say, in the end we resorted to bathing the baby in one of our storage containers in our tent!!. Disappointing as meant to be family friendly site, and it is so much easier when everyone is able to pile into one room and shower. But all that said we will definitely return, it was quiet and relaxing with nice walks into the forest outside your tent, and staff friendly.

We really liked this site, easy access to the forest, well kept site, a large playing area and equipment. The only things that jarred were the inadequate showers which, if all the showers in the block were being used, the water trickled down the wall! Also if you have a young family and want to use the family shower you will have to hope that you manage to get hold of a key. There are only six and these are given out to six families who keep them for the duration of their stay. I didn't get one and had to try and shower three children and myself in the shower cubicle which as they are fairly small was almost impossible. It doesn't seem equitable that all families pay the same rate but only some have access to all the family facilities. We won't be visiting again.

Just back from the Bank Holiday weekend at Thetford. Were lucky with the weather and managed to shelter from a couple of storms whilst out cycling. It's not the first time we've stayed at Thetford and it certainly won't be the last, but the biggest plus this time were the plum, apple and pear trees dotted around the site and laden with delicious fruit!

Really lovely site, great access to forest area, really nice site with great facilities but the shower goes from being brilliant to a trickle when more than 2 people shower, there is also only 5 showers in the main block for 150 pitches. the staff are really friendly and know their stuff. flat pitches and a good site for anyone really, we're a family and had a great relaxing weekend even though there were larger groups who were noisier than we were but staff take this into consideration when placing you .

A beautiful site, with a warm and friendly welcome from the very efficient staff.
We picked this site for its proximity to the forest and walks, access to the woods is directly from the site and this was great for walking the dog. The on-site dog exercise area is a super idea and gave our dog the chance to have some off lead fun & let off steam!.
The Kids area is great and our youngest spent most of his time there making friends.
The facilities as with all the C&CC sites we have stayed at are superb, they are clean, plentiful and we never had to queue. The only slight niggle we had is that both blocks were closed for cleaning at the same time, leaving you without access to the facilities for an hour if you needed it!
The free wifi was very reliable, which pleased our 14year old!.
There are some rules at the site but nothing that you wouldn't expect and it made for a nice quiet site and a very relaxing stay....well done C&CC club for another lovely site, just wish you could control the weather as it rained for over 24hours constant during our august 4 night stay but the site didn't suffer as it is very well drained so no horrible muddy puddles or flooded pitches!.
Would definately recommend and will return again.

This site i nothing short of fantastic. We are a family of five with three children under 10. The amount of play space for the children is great. I would recommend to the site that they put photo's of the play equiptment on the page. As a parent, the play facilities are a huge factor in where we choose to stay. We requested a pitch near the play area and were able to see our youngest (who is four) running about playing. Everything is clean, if you want a quieter break you can request to be over by the fisheing pond which is very very difficult for a child to get close to without an adult as it it fenced off and gated. All in all a great site. Our only critisism is the site man who asked us to move our tent over to the edge of the pitch (It meant moving everything (but only by about 2 foot) as he said that people to the right of us would need at least 6ft between us and their tent. We fully understood and moved over a bit. However when people came in on the left they were not given the same advice and this resulted in us having less space for the couple of days they were there... Slightly irritating but ALL other staff were very friendly and it didn't spoil our holiday. We had a thoroughly great time, were able to give the children lots of freedom :).

This is by far the biggest & best site we have stayed on in England. We were made very welcome from the moment we arrived & the staff were very helpfull when choosing the most suitable pitch for our needs. There is no shortage of walks from the site & you can purchase maps for a minimal charge.
The facilities were excellent & spotlessly clean. There is a fish & chip van on site Friday nights & a fresh meat stall on Saturday which also cooks ther produce (sausages, burgers, steak & bacon )We would recommend this site to anyone & will return ourselves without hesitation. Great site that has been thoroughly thought out. Facilities are excellent and always kept clean. There was always help at the reception and the shop was nicely stocked with the essentials. The walks into the adjacent forest were lovely and gave the dogs a good walk in a new area. Worth taking an OS map (or buy one at the shop) so you can explore the Peddar Way and the Pingo Trail. Pitch sizes are very generous and the ground is very sandy under the grass; so no bent pegs. We've really enjoyed the peace and relaxation that we came for.

Awesome, simply awesome. Our first c&cc holiday as new members, & all other sites have a lot to live up to if this is the standard. We had a lovely sheltered pitch only feet from the well fenced off lake, & our kids loved it. Very clean facilities & site all round. We experianced the now famous fish & chip van on friday nights. Very nice too! We really can't fault this site. The kids & I spent a day fishing on the small but well stocked lake, & caught some beautiful Rudd & Tench on pellet & corn. This really is a beautiful place to go & relax. Also if there are any families out there who have yet to discover the magic of 'Bewilderwood' near norwich, we would highly recommend that too!

Although the staff are v friendly and helpful and the facilities are clean. I don't think I will be going back to this site. If you have children or dogs it probably is a v good site, but for someone with neither I found it very busy. The only highlight for me was the Dog and Partridge pub at Wretham but you must have some form of transport to get anywhere. The road alongside the camp is very busy with cars and lorries speeding past. Also, there seemed to be a lot of 'NO' rules to adhere to.

We stayed here in March and as it was enjoyable then we returned in June. In March only one set of facilities was open due to "the weather - cold" so we expected both sets to be open in June. They were for the first night - Sunday - but then they were closed for the rest of our stay. Had we (and the other 12 units I'm sure) been told that they would be closed, we would have put our unit nearer the other facilities. In all my 11 years of C&CC membership I have never known facilities to be closed in June. One pair of site managers were very nice and helpful while the others insisted we moved our motorhome, although there was at least 5 meters, and a corner, between us and the next unit. Also, there were no refuse facilities around the site - the bins were outside the exit barrier. This is not my usual expectation (and findings) of C&CC sites.

We spent 5 nights camping at Thetford Forest with our 2 boys at the beginning of June. The site was easy to find and the staff were extremely friendly & helpful. The site is beautiful and well maintained. Our 2 boys loved the play area and we struggled somedays to get them away from it as they had made so many friends. Take a walk through the forest. The yellow route markers seem to disappear half way round. You could end up walking 5 miles instead of 2!! Get there early on a Friday night for the Chippy van to avoid disappointment. We highly recommend the meat man on Saturdays. We found the site very relaxing and did not want to come home. The only negative I can think of, and this has no bearing on the site or the staff. Due to the lack of rain, the ground was so hard, I bent a large number of pegs trying to put the tent & windbreak up. We will definitely be back at the same time next year, if not sooner.

Our first stay at a C&C Club site, having only joined this season. We came with two adults, two children & one dog, and we all had a great time. The site was ideal for our needs, plenty of space, even when the site was just about full (half term week). The children had plenty of space to play, and the dog exercise area was a great bonus, especially for a 10 month Lab puppy! The site adjoined the forest area, which is accessible straight from the site. The ablutions were always clean and well looked after.
All in all, a great site and we definitely would come back again.

We enjoyed cycling and walking in the forest, but also the peace and tranquility of the surroundings. It was good to get back in the evenings for a well earned rest and bbq! The children had a wonderful time too. They really loved the forest, but were just as happy on the play area & around our pitch. We have told all our friends about it & we are hoping for another break here in June, friends and all! The staff were very friendly & nothing was too much trouble for them. What a great stay! We stayed over the Royal Wedding bank holiday weekend - so the fantastic weather was certainly very welcome.
We were welcomed on site (even though we had arrived early) by a very friendly team, who showed us quickly to our site, and let us know everything we needed for the weekend.
We were staying with three other families - and it was great that we were all pitched in a nice square.
The facilites, and the campsite in general were kept in excellent order. The shop was well stocked with the basics and a few extras - but supermarket shopping was not far away.
The fish and chip van on a Friday night was a hit with the kids - and the food was actually very good as well.
The pitches are all well sized - but not secluded from your neighbours - as they layout is very open.
Due to the low local light - stargazing on a clear night is simply amazing!
This was our first stay on a site as members of C&CC - be warned the next few sites we have booked - you have a lot to live up to!

Although we arrived early (11.30 am) for the Royal Wedding weekend we were made very welcome. The site was packed (combined Bank Holidays and a long spell of sunshine) but there was no queuing for facilties which remained spotless throughout. Great loction - many woodland walks direct from the site, so the cars were untouched for three days. Only "downers" - careless kids whizzing about on fast bicycles, and a very few campers who ignore the 11 pm curfew - but that's not really the site staff's fault. In every other respect, full marks!

We have been coming here - at least once per month since November 2009. The staff are super friendly and helpful and the site and facilities are exceptionally well-maintained. Even during the busiest times they have always been helpful and supportive. Yes - on occasions, they have to deal with a few visitors who don't follow the rules, but they remain calm, friendly and a credit to the Club. The nearby forest is great for dog walking. There are also shops and restaurants in the nearby town of Watton (The Indian is very disappointing but the Chinese is very good). During the summer months the Friday evening chip van, visiting the site, is a 'must' for young and old - so good you will need to join a surprisingly long queue - but the wait is worth it. Out and about there are lots of places to visit - information is available at the site. Many other sites could learn from the approach taken here - justifiable winners of the national award last year.

Excellent! The reason we joined the C&CC. Staff very helpful and always willing to stop and chat - so who are the "magic fairies" who keep every where so clean and tidy? We thought the caravan positioning was for staff to live in, so much thought and attention, never experienced on another site! More facilities than we needed.
Site suitability must be determined by what an individual wants. If you want to go clubbing 'til 4a.m. don't bother to go to Thetford!
As pensioners we enjoyed our stay to the extent we extended it - partly due to the extraordinarily good weather - but we were visited by children and grandchildren who also thought the site excellent. The play area was well appreciated, the only criticism "there's no stream"! Grandchildren!!!!
Our only complaint, like another reviewer, is no fault of the site/staff. People who not only let their dogs off the lead but fail to clean up after them. Inexcusable.
Such a good site I'm reluctant to post this in case it is always full and we shan't be able to return!

We had a 2 night stay, 100 yards from the trees! It was beautiful! The staff were very friendly, helpful and cheerful. Unfortunately some visitors did not stick to the rules of dogs on leads and clear up their mess, but this was at no fault of the site or staff. We had own dog on a lead and cleared up after him, it's not hard folks! We will definately return to the site for future weekend breaks because it only takes an hour for us. thanks for a great weekend. Good facilities. Lovely low level lights at night so that you can appreciate the stars at night.

I don't think I can praise this site and its team highly enough.
This was our second camping trip, our first at a C&CC site. Although we'd been to Centre Parcs in Elveden before, it was our first time in Thetford proper.
Whilst we'd booked a 7 night stay, we only managed a 5 night stay, due to our car breaking down on the first day - thus tarnishing the rest of the trip with stress and aggrivation. On this point, the site staff were absolutely brilliant. They towed our car onto the site for us, and they were always warm and friendly whenever we saw them - always stopping for a chat or at least a wave.
What to say about the site? Well, it was pretty empty, as only mad people camp in January. :D It was very quiet, except for the jet fighters zooming over head frequently. It was very tidy, and very easy to find things.
The facilities were first rate, although only the centre block was open, due to it being a low-peak period, so I cannot atest to the standards of the other facilities on that score. From appearances, it looks the same. The maintainance and upkeep was very good, although lighting in the toilet area was defective, so dealing with a #2 at night - bring a torch!
The local attractions are very far apart and you absolutely need a car if you want to go anywhere around Thetford. I can recommend as a must visit, the Dog and Partridge pub, just down the road. The cider there was fantastic, and the food excellent. The service superb.
Although not one of my best holidays, due to the car problem, I cannot find fault with the site whatsoever. I'd definately go again, and strongly recommend it to anyone.

We arrived to a very warm welcome and were given a variety of pitches to choose from and offered any help we needed. Very pleasant and friendly staff.
The site is deceptively large and spacious. It operates a coded barrier system. There’s a fish & chip van on a Friday night which arrives approx 7.30pm and we can definitely recommend them.
There is a central block with wash up facilities and toilets. The showers were hot and a decent water pressure but they are push button and had to be pressed far too regular (8 secs) which is a pain.
The shop is small but has all essentials and a little bit more, we even got some oil for our bike chains.
There are a few entrances to the forest at the back of the site. It’s great with marked routes for walks and cycle rides. You soon get to know your way round as it is nowhere near as large as Thetford Forest itself but it’s nice for a decent walk or an easy bike ride.
Thetford town has plenty of shops or Norwich is about a 40 minute drive which is a nice city. Closest pub would be The Eagle at Great Hockham and the Dog & Partridge on the main road to Thetford. The Eagle don’t do food and Dog & Partridge has a snacks menu and the food was good and reasonable prices. Nearest supermarkets would be the Tesco at Watton about 6 miles drive or the Sainsburys at Thetford, about 20 minute drive. A great day out would be Thetford Forest (High Lodge, Brandon). Journey takes about 15-20 minutes by car.
The only negatives we can come up with for the site are, lack of lighting on a night, grass could have done with a cut and the showers not staying on long enough but none of them put us off. All in all the site is in a fantastic location with plenty to do nearby and is well kept and clean with helpful staff and great facilities. What more could one ask for. Needless to say we will definitely be returning.

we only started caravanning last year and our visit to Thetford this Xmas/New Year will be our 4th visit there and our 16th trip away since June 2009. As a 50+ couple with a dog we found everything about Thetford exceeded our needs and expectations - friendly staff - super clean facilities and walking our dog through the forest meeting fellow campers and caravanners of all ages has been a sheer delight. The layout of the site allows both freedom to play and privacy and peace to be enjoyed by all in equal measure. p.s. please keep this gem of a site a secret:-)

Very friendly welcome.Good for dog walking. Suspect showers etc. would be inadequate at peak times. Please do not insult us with showers that only stay on for 5 seconds at a time.
We will returm again at off peak time.

Wardens were very friendly and weloming on arrival.
We did not found the site peaceful at all due to the Army training in and around the forest. Very noisy low-flying aircrafts many times during the day and night and loud 'bangs' (also day and night)during our stay.
I also appreciate we were warned that the grass was going to be scarified around our caravan, but starting later than 9.15am would have been better, thus giving us chance to get up and go out.

An excellent site and will return again. We have only marked the cleanliness down for the ladies toilets because of how they are left by younger children. At the end of the day, the site staff can only do so much, so not a criticism of them. Excellent base for touring the area and a well laid out site. Great walking and mountain biking, which you can hire on site. You can even take the dog(A large forest on the perimeter). Very nice and relaxed atmosphere, all neighbouring campers seemed very friendly with ideas of places to go. Showers free and excellent. Camp quiet of an evening except for peoples chatter, very relaxing. Bricks available for all low barbeque setups at side of shop. Only gripes would be the rental of icepacks and having to buy them within the shop. I'm sure another method could be thought up. I would also recommend the shop itself not open from 12-1pm for
people in the site as when booking in, it was very busy and the staff seemed to overwhelmed with a pile of kids desperate for sweets and ices (Kids eh!). Maybe one till for the shop, the other for bookings in that hour. It really is nit picking. Its brilliant and we will definately be returning here!!

Our first time out camping, and our first club site - an excellent welcome, and a suprisingly clean and friendly site. Given the site's location there is some added evening entertainment from the local military bases, but this is not too intrusive. The fish and chip wagon is a good idea, and produces a decent meal, at a reasonable price. A good base for visiting East Anglia, with the popular East coast resorts about an hour away - there is a wealth of attractions, to suit all ages within 20 miles of the site, we chose to go a little farther and see some of the attractions near Acle and the broads.
My complements to the staff - a excellent week away, and we will come again!

It was a very friendly and clean site with everything we needed as a family of 5. There were all sorts of parties there eg couples, families young and old. The playpark is ideal for older kids but my 2 year olds were slightly too young, but will enjoy it next year.
Plenty of space for ballgames and playing, and easy access to forest, which has different trails depending how far you want to walk. The situation of the campsite feels secluded and rural, although you are near the main routes to supermarket and Thetford Forest etc.
We will definitely be going again next year!

Totally flat site ideal for campers, site is split into smaller sections by large rows of trees giving it a secluded quality and also protecting you from the wind.
If you want fish & chips from the van on Fridays get there early as they get long queues.
