Just stayed at Troutbeck for the weekend never been before our friends told us about the site. We will be going back the wardens very informative, friendly and helpfull showed us to our pitch. The toilets and showers spotless musice piped through and the power showers great make ours at home seem like a dribble. Fantastic views we walked to the White Horse for our tea plenty on your plate and very nice lots of nice walks in the area the service pitches as mentioned by someone before have the best views what a lovely break we had towing was very easy.

Excellent site. Friendly helpful staff. Good dog walks adjacent. Lots of good pubs nearby.
As others have remarked, for campers it's a long walk to the toilet/shower block - for caravanners it's a lot closer.

Troutbeck was the first site we stayed at in our week tour of the lake district. It set the bar very high and could not fault it.

Our fist stay in a Motorhome, the welcome was great, very helpful. Site is very well kept and facilities were good and clean. could maybe do with a third shower but otherwise spot on.
Toilet cleaning guy was a bit grumpy when I wanted to wash my hands when the toilets were closed, signs told me that so fair enough but he was pretty rude... must have been having a bad day.
otherwise everything was good.

This is our 2nd visit this year and we will definitely be booking again - the site is wonderfully kept and the facilities are so clean. I feel I have to comment about the showers - they are amazing and my 14 year old son even had one every day!!! Thanks to all the Team at Troutbeck who are very welcoming and helpful.

This was stop 6 out of our 7 site stop Road trip. We had driven from Scotland so we had a 2 night stop here. A small but wonderful site. Just what we needed a peaceful place and time to relax.
The site staff was very welcoming and very friendly and noy to say very helpful, We were waiting for a special post delivery and the staff kindly took it in and delivered it to us. The site was very clean and the shower block was the best out of all the 7 stops.
Just one point- the play area was a bit muddy.
Thank you and we will return.

A very good site which has excellent, but limited facilities. Her Indoors commented about the lack of showers in the Ladies.
One drawback - I am disabled and male!
I got some funny looks when I went to the disabled toilet as it is sited just inside the doorway of the Ladies.
Pity it had not got a second entrance for the disabled. (the entrance to the Gents is not disabled friendly as it has a step!)
The site is shown with Site WiFi on the site page - but the Site WiFi page shows no Wi-Fi of any type!
I am a regular WiFi user and have taken out a year's ticket with the Club's own Site Wi-Fi at a rate of £42 as best value for my holidays.
The site does not have Site Wi-Fi but runs another system which costs £1 per hour. (Site Wifi's most expensive option is £2 for a day)
Why is this?

One of the best sites, if not The best! Staff were really helpful, loos and showers very good and clean. Plenty of room on site without feeling packed in like sardines. Views stunning and location for walking and shops excellent. One minor moan and this is why I didn't give the facilities 5 star, lack of toilets in the lower, camping area. It's the campers that need the loos more than the static caravans but the campers had the furthest to walk. Even just two loos in the lower half for night time use would have been fine. I thought it was a lot to expect people to walk through the entire site crunching on the gravel path to use the loo at 3:00am in the morning. Other than this the site is perfect!

Never done a reveiw of a site before, but this one is a wonderful gem, the site managers are the most helpful friendly people you could wish to meet, the setting is stunning, full marks for a motorhome fill up and emptying point just as you reach the site, one can book in, and the other can be filling up, so many sites you have to drive halfway round to fill up, and sometimes you have to fill up drive out of the site, turn and come in again to get to your pitch, the showers are fantastic, very clean, water pressure in the showers are the best I have showered in, and you can set the temperture to what you like, not what someone else thinks you should shower in.
Another little point, the chair when you are booking in is a lovely touch, for someone of the slightly older generation, and also someone with a bad back.
This must be one of the best sites on the network, will be visiting again.
Thank you keep up the good work

Nice site just off the A66 about 3 miles from Keswick. Good clean facilities and a shop which stocks the essentials. At the time we stayed the weather was very wet and the site was quite muddy (but that's not something the warden's can do anything about). Good walking at Threlkeld - which is just over the A66. The Horse n Farrier pub at Threlkeld serves fantastic food at a not too unreasonable price. We will definately return because this site is idea for access to Keswick and the surrounding lakes.

I have been a member for a couple of years now in my own right (I camped with parents as a child) and this is this first time I have written a review. I felt the need to as this is the second year running we have stayed at this site. The site is fantastic, with amazing views, the staff are really helpful and friendly. The facilities are out of this world. I tell you after a climb up scafell the shower was so welcoming, It eased away the aches and pains!. The music was an added bonus. All in all a good week was had by all, me, my other half and my dog. Oh and we will be back, there is no doubt about that!

I have been a member for 14 years and this is the first time I have felt that I really must review a site and express my appreciation. Troutbeck is one of the very best sites, if not the best you could wiish to visit.
This was not my first time there, I return annually. The location is brilliant for reaching the North, North Western, Central, Eastern, Far Eastern and some of the Southern Fells. Troutbeck provided my base for walking many of the Wainwrights. The fantastic ‘power’ showers are absolutely perfect after a day on the hills (with musical accompaniment too – I will have to get that set up at home!).
The facilities are good and the team running the site maintain an exceptional level of cleanliness. The people there are very friendly and helpful. Shopping in Keswick is a short drive away and the area offers many alternative activities for those of us finding that every day on the hills is getting hard work.
Downsides, the A66 provides a background rumble, and there is a slope (well it is the Lakes), maybe a selection of classics to shower by some days? All of these are amply compensated for by the views and facilities.
5 Stars all round, but only because this system won’t award 6.

Beautiful site, with the best on site facilities I have ever been in! Short 2 minute walk from tent field to facilities. Exceptionally clean, with endless hot water and no queues - more like a hotel bathroom than a campsite. Very child friendly and safe for small ones to play - in fact I don't think we saw much of ours as on their bikes, play area, feeding the local chickens or playing by the stream as soon as breakfast was over. Well stocked shop and the friendliest of staff. Fabulous views and quiet countryside, all this only 15/20 minutes drive from Keswick. Definitely recommended; 5 stars all round!! Going back soon with the tent.

Stayed here for 4 glorious nights in April 2011. The site itself is fantastic, in a beautiful location overshadowed by the daunting Blencathra. Facilities were first class, fully enclosed toilets are a blessing. Showers were great too, I'd agree with other reviews I've read which liken them to hotel showers. Everyone on site was respectful of the surroundings and the obvious hard work the owners must undertake to make this site a credit to the C&C name. Perfection in a campsite is rare and if I was to raise any criticism it would be the A66 road, audible from the site, which very slightly detracts from the otherwise outstanding location. Will revisit one day and conquer Blencathra. Oh, and Scaffel Pike if the SATNAV takes us to the correct Seathwaite next time!!!!

4 day break over easter. Good reception from Wardens, placed us in the bottom field as we had our 2 kids with us. Lovely spot right next to the stream although it did get a little smelly at times due to the water being so low with lack of rain. showerblock is fantastic but only 2 showers in the Gents and 1 in the ladies does mean you will be queueing. As said before the kids playpark could do with an addition or two.
All in all a lovely spot really close to Ullswater and a quick drive into keswick.

We stayed for 4 nights and it was perfect! I really liked the fact that I was greeted by name as soon as I arrived which shows attention to detail. The facilities were first class although situated near the statics who may not need them as much as us without on board facilities!! A lovely peaceful campsite and we appreciated the daily updated weather reports so we could plan our walks. We would definitely return!!

As experienced campers but first time caravaners we requested, on booking an "easy pitch", which thankfully was reserved for us on our arrival. The site itself is set in stunning country side with views to die for. The toilets/showers are by far, the best and cleanest we have encountered anywhere. The only little moan would be the very modest play area, the most important part of a holiday for a 4 year old. However we'll be returning later in the year.

Wonderfully accomodating wardens, who managed to get us a pitch close to where my Mum was in her motorhome. Lovely welcome, in fact the welcome pack was one of the most informative ones I have ever seen. Next time we will take full advantage of the pick up and drop off arrangement with the local pub!!
The facilities are amazing, the showers were better than we have at home and are kept scrupilously clean. The washing up facilities are the best I have ever used and the piped music does make you linger over the drying.
The pitch was a decent size and fairly level. We needed to use some rock pegs, for those rocky patches, but on the whole regular pegs were used.
The views are beautiful and we were treated to a spectacular sunset on the 2nd night, nice way to finish off the weekend.
We are very familiar with this area and there is plenty to explore. Keswick is a delight.

Brillant, arrived late afternoon, two very helpful ladies from the north east helped me put my tent up. Their partners then came over to ensure that the tent was ok. I was invited with my dog to attend a barbeque in the evening. The lads did the cooking, the standard of which was very high. The meat had been bought at a butchers in Keswick.
After a few beers and a bottle of High Park malt whisky, I took my telescope out and we started to do some sky watching. The skies were darker than many other places. It was a great pleasure to meet such nice people and I believe we really enjoyed it.
The site itself is excellent, with a warm welcome by the reception staff, had a good conversation them on the locale, mountains, lakes, funny camping stories and on activities that would be appropriate for the dog. We went to the seaside at St. Bees Head and the dog loved the sea.
This is an excellent site for campers travelling to or from Scotland and who want to break the trip for a few days rest. There is so much to do in the area.

I've never felt the need to review a C&CC site before since they are all very good and you'd be hard pressed to find a bad one. However, this site, Troutbeck, definitely deserves a mention. It is the only site I have been on that gets a definitive 10 out of 10 for every aspect.
The staff are excellent, the views stunning, the pitches 1st class, the facilities the best I've used and the cleanliness and neatness of the entire site cannot be faulted.
Congratulations to the entire team for making this site the way it is. Keep it up.
