Well! This is the place to take your children / grandchildren, friends & your well behaved retriever. It has a fabulous "Famous Five" atmosphere with fine interesting entertainment & a great friendly shop. Close to Padstow, Mawgan Porth & all the best sandy coves & beaches, Do it!!

The best campsite we have stayed at. Things to do on site for all ages - a very well maintained and well equipped children's play area, computer games room, a building especially for table tennis, teenager's room, different entertainment every evening, a swimming pool, field set aside especially for ball games and kite flying. The shop is well stocked with everything you could want. You are free to choose where to pitch, so you can pitch overlooking the play area to keep an eye on your kids or, if you want a more peaceful holiday, pitch right over the other side of the field. The toilets and showers were clean, with plenty of hot water no matter what time you used them. I can't praise this site enough - we will definately be back.

Excellent site. I can only confirm positive comments. If you want pitches in neat rows, bingo/bar type facilities with imaculate washroom facilities do not visit Trewan Hall. If you want beautiful surroundings, space to pitch up as you wish, woods/fields to enjoy, then visit. Our family (2 children 7 and 9)really enjoyed the covered pool - 50p and able to take in inflatables, plenty of space to play any games and the barn entertainment on some nights. The quality was really excellent and such a great atmosphere - no dress code here :) The library is lovely to sit/choose a holiday read. Bring a torch for nights as no lighting - see the stars! The atmosphere is very relaxed and friendly and "quirky" - a feeling of how camping should be. We found the family/staff who own/run the site were always very helpful - we loved the "25 aside" football match between the 2 camping fields and it really underlined the spirit of this site.
Re toilet facilities - Yes they are not modern but we found the water always ho and toilets/basins clean. Also on Calves' field toilet are unisex and open straight to outside - as a mum with boys I found this a bonus. At night the site is very peacful - cows mooing in adjacent fields, the occasional pop of a wine bottle or crackle of the BBQ :). We will be returning.

A camping experience which rates as amongst the best I have ever had. My family chose to camp in the larger field, a short walk away from the reception and other major amentities. However,the bonus was in the amount of space to create a pitch without encroaching on anyone else. The freedom to choose a pitch anywhere, without the restriction of keeping within a marked box was very welcome. Views were wonderful from this field and it was generally quiet at night-time. The nearby toilets were cleaned regulalry,my only quibble being that there was no provision for hand-drying. There was always plenty of hot water for washing or showering and although the buildings housing these facilities were old they were sound and added to the expereince. The whole site had a convivial atmosphere about it as people enjoyed the grounds and extensive recreation facilities. The good quality evening entertainment was varied and its setting within an old building added to the atmosphere. The camp shop was extremely well stocked with camping products, fresh bakery products, quality food, souvenirs, newspapers and you could even hire a bodyboard for the reasonable price of £3 a day. I made use of a washing machine and dryer, which was very efficient and reasonably priced. This, along with the drying room facility would also be very useful if the weather wasn't as favourable as it was for us. I have already recommended the site to people I know who enjoy camping and hope it continues to run with such an environmentally friendly ethos and with the enthusiasm and commitment from the staff there.

Lovely site & very unique. Lovely old house and gardens setting with old stone barns & outhouses used for shop & entertainment areas. Went with family who enjoyed the table tennis, warm & covered swimming pool and evening entertainment which was good for all the family (& not tacky). Shop is well stocked with everything you could need for a camping holiday and well priced for children's purchases (they made several visits). Staff very friendly & informative. Toilet block fine for camping - but showers could do with updating. Overall a great holiday location & very central for all Cornwall destinations - will definitely go back!

As first timers to Trewan Hall the welcome was very friendly, loved the site. Being able to choose your own pitch and orientation was brilliant. Shower and toilet facilities were dated but served their purpose. Site location was good for exploring the locale. Would highly recommend Trewan Hall to others.

Personally I think Trewan Hall is an amazing place in a stunning location with some unique facilities. I joined C & CC just so I could stay here. It’s a campsite that takes you back to how you imagine camping really should be – friendly, relaxed, children buzzing around the background – playing in the woods and making new friends, adults chatting to new people from all over the UK (and Europe).
The setting is beautiful – set across two very peaceful large fields with masses of room and choice of pitch. The pick your own pitch is hardly a free for all; it does however ensure that you get the pitch you want – for me that’s close to the children’s play area and shower/toilet block positioned to catch the morning and evening sun, but for others it’s away from it all on a shady hedge pitch.
The facilities at Trewan hall are also unique – an old barn for a unique blend of local entertainment (acoustic sets, brass bands and Marks Ark wild animal show!)in high season, a couple of indoor barns as games rooms and some undercover table tennis, the benefit of an undercover heated pool, a laundry and drying room, a stately manor house on site with library, reading room and billiards room for the accomplished. The shop is well stocked and very welcoming, the site staff are friendly and knowledgeable.
15 mins drive takes you to the beach – for me my favourite is Harlyn Bay. 20 mins takes you to Newquay, Padstow or Wadebridge.
The bathroom facilities are basic and probably do need upgrading and if you are expecting clinically pristine white ceramic sanitation then don’t come, but do expect to wear your crocs or flip flops into the shower. On the plus side there are even two baths on side – ideal for bathing younger children. That said everything is cleaned regularly
As other commentators have said, you either “get†Trewan hall or you don’t - I do!

Quite simply the best site we've ever visited. I think you either "get" Trewan Hall or you don't. If you do get it, then you'll go a long way to find anything else that comes even close to it and probably end up being year on year visitors as so many are. A site with a heart and soul that resonates long after the "Shiniest Wash Room" awards other sites may boast have become dull and dusty.

My husband and I stayed here along with some friends for a week, although it was a free for all for a space, with a hook up, we managed to find one together. The toilet and shower facilities were dissapointing to say the least. We had to que each time using the shower facilities, and the cleanliness was poor each time. There were other facilities in the vicinity, but were locked off. Small town nearby, within walking distance, with only a few shops for essentials, quite run down village, but with a couple of pubs, for nice meals. A good drive to coast, which we did throughout our stay. Overall, the toilet and shower facilites need an overall. We will not visit this site again.

Great relaxing holiday! Love the way you can pitch anywhere - gave you space & choice. Facilities were not glam, but did the job - so friendly - hardly saw the kids as they always met new friends within minutes! Entertainment is family orientated, not too loud if you don't want to participate & Just Ken is Just Great - Cult status!
We went for 3 years, in tent & caravan, before moving further away. Hope we can make the journey back again some day soon!

The site is great the family who run it are friendly. The facilities are a bit dated but perfectly OK.
This site has received our families highest accollade, we are going back to stay on there again this year, something we have not done with any other site in 5 years.

I love this site, my family have been using this site since it opened in the sixties. I spent my childhood here, and am now taking my children here (3rd generation of Trewan Hall Campers! and they are from the computer genration and adore it too). Yes the shower blocks and toilets are a bit dated. (yes they are pretty much as I remember them in the 70's) but they are still great facilities. Everything you need is supplied, plugs, baths, showers, toilets, hot water, washing machines, tumble dryers, drying room, library, games room, shop, and auditorium etc etc hidden away with careful consideration in the old stone buildings. But the site is amazing. the family he have run it all these years are great. They have taken a beautiful setting and slowly restored all the old buildings and made it something very, very special and beautiful. There is an old fashioned charm about the place and no wonder as most of the campers have been going since the beginning and have the old fashioned camping ways hence the reason for the no numbered pitch. What is the point of camping if you have to all be in straightlines in square boxes. The beauty of camping is you pitch where you want and the direction you want to. I would highly recommend this site to anyone. I know my family and I over the years tried other campsites but they all left us feeling a bit empty and dull. Please Trewan don't change! Oh and the local village has a very useful co-op, two wonderful butchers that do the best cornish pasties, fish and chip shop pubs.

Arrival was a free for all,no set pitches just had to find a space and park. toilet and shower facilities were still in the 1950's. Being a member of the C.C.C. I expect a certain standard of which in my opinion Trewan Hall fell far below. Some serious updating is needed.

My 8 and 11 year old daughters absolutely loved the site and the atmosphere and friendliness are very welcoming. There was a constant really nice 'gang' of kids and it was very safe. Check the access if you have a sizeable van - it is tight unless you go in the top way and even that is down a single lane. Toilets and showers are verging on bohemian - showing their age. The 'pitch where you like' has it's drawbacks and the pool is getting tired but was vital during a wet 3 weeks. Entertainment & shop are very good and not tacky. We met people who have been going there for 20 years - it has real charm. Good beaches nearby and we liked Wadebridge. If you want a smart flat site with modern clean showers etc it might not be for you.

I felt very disappointed with this club site. The toilet and shower facilities were nowhere near what I would expect from a club site. Furthermore, the site policy for pitches was less than accepable. Basically there are no pitches, but a free choice pitch system is used. This ends up in complete disarray, not only is it hard to find a pitch is busy periods, but the staff have no idea as to what is avaiable at any given time. Additionally the 6 meter rule is NOT applied at all.
The town of St Columb Major is pretty much a very run down village. There are no real attractions to be found there and apart from a pub absolutely no reason to visit it.
Overall a disappointing 2 weeks holiday from what promised to be superb.

Had a great stay here. The site was well looked after - grass cut every few days, all facilities open to campers cleaned everyday. The site provided evening entertainment - brass band, local theatre group, animal man and more. The kids loved the swimming pool. The shop is well stocked. Only downside was that the toilets and showers could do with updating but they were still clean with hot water.
