Agree wholheartedly with the positive descriptions of this site. Superb panoramic views, almost like heaven on earth. The walk to Woolacombe via Mortehoe is well worth the effort, dog friendly & the amazing beaches, with breathtaking views, so much space so even tho it was very busy it didn't feel crowded.
BUT be warned, we put our large awning up on the Sunday we arrived, it was calm, sunny and not too windy, all was well UNTIL 3the following morning when the wind was howling & it seemed as tho a hurricane had descended into paradise! We had to stay with the caravan for approx the next 36 hours until the wind had subsided enough for us to take the awning down in safety with the help of some of the helpful, wonderful staff! What a relief when it was down & we could resume our holiday. We did have hurricane straps on and it was well tethered too! So when we return we will definately not be using an awning - which is not a problem as we now store our things in the car & under the caravan. Fabulous site and we are really looking forward to our next visit in June. The approach road to the site is a bit narrow in places as buses also drive along it. The shop is excellent, pasties, etc delicious. Very large stock of Crocs and other beachy/ holiday sundries. Superb!

We loved this site, we only stayed 2 nights but had a great time. Do not be put off if the mist comes in, because it soon goes revealing stunning views. Good information on arrival, excellent facilities and shop. Great walking from site, we walked to Bull Point then along the coastal path to Ilframcombe (lovely vegetarian cafe) then took the Tarka Trail part the way back to the site.
Also good Fish n Chips at the Captains Table in Woolacombe.

Spent 4 nights on the site. 1st site as newbies, it came way above expectations. Fantastic facilities shop etc, easy access to coastal footpaths & bus stop.
Special thanks to Helen & husband for their help and concerns after being taken ill on footpath.

In October, when the grass pitches are empty and only a handful of units are pitched, this is a wonderfully peaceful site. Ground staff were very friendly and although there are a good few site rules this means that the site maintains its high standards. The shower block was absolutely immaculate. High quality and spotless, not a spider in sight! The same applied to the dish wash area and the site is very well maintained throughout. We found several walks from the site - to Woollacombe beach, around Morte Point (Rockham beach is lovely) and a circular coastal walk to Ilfracombe. Good little shop with friendly owner and all the supplies you might need. Damage Barton certainly coloured our judgement of the next site we went to (a listed site on Exmoor) which by comparison came out unfavourably after the pleasure of taking a shower at DB!! Excellent location for an out of season break and our dog loved the walks.

Wonderful site, with all the pitches overlooking the sea. The hardstanding pitches are very large on gravel, with water and electric. We have 2 dogs, so the large dog walk at the bottom of the site was great. The wind does whip up though, so make sure your hatches are battened down as we had to get up at the crack of dawn one morning to take in our flapping awning before it blew away.
The reception staff were welcoming and helpful, and there is a great little shop selling everything from fresh bread to Crocs. There are 2 spotless toilet blocks, a laundry, a pot washing room, a motorhome drain and elasan points.
In the village are a few dog friendly pubs serving good food. They are in walking distance, but it's a country road with no footpaths.
We were only supposed to be staying here for 3 nights, but stayed longer as it's in an ideal location. Will visit again.

We arrived at the site and our first impressions were that the site was well kept.
The staff on reception were very friendly and helpful.
We pitched our tent in terrible weather, heavy rain and strong winds but this didn't dampen our spirits!
The shower/toilet blocks were spotless and we frequently saw cleaners. Lovely showers and hot!
The shop is well equipped too.
If you are camping with a tent (like we were) this site will test the strength of your tent as the site is quite exposed, but please don't let that put you off. We will be returning!

Wonderful site, beautifully manicured, friendly staff, brilliant shop, fantastic facililities ... BUT ... OMG the weather! If it was like this in August, what would it be like at other times of the year?!! We left early as couldn't ever sit outside even when the rain stopped (which wasn't often!). The wind felt like hurricane force, even though inland it wasn't too bad. The rain lashed and we couldn't get any sleep as we were too terrified that our awning and caravan would take off! Absolutely shocking! Beautiful though it all is, I will never go there again!

Excellent site in a beautiful location. The best on site shop we've seen. Exceptional toilets, kept spotlessly clean. The only downside was no play park for the kids, hence the road was busy with bikes and scooters and the like. Overall excellent site, well worth the trip. Please build a park.

I would second what others have said about the site, especially the location. The view is beautiful, as are the sunsets.
The lack of lighting on site makes for good stargazing but also means a powerful torch is essential to see where you're walking.
Shower/toilet blocks were very good but the water pressure in the showers was poor at busy times and on more than one occasion amounted to little more than a dribble, literally. I don't know if there was a problem with pressure or water pumps but it was a problem, on and off, during the whole of our two week stay.
Lovely spacious pitches, well laid out and even on hardstanding, not too difficult to hammer down the pegs.
Despite the awful weather, we would definitely use this site again.

Visited site in May 2012 with our Burstner Motorhome. This was our first trip South for over 30years & our first stop on our 2week trip. An absolutely beautiful site, cannot fault the setting and views at all. People were so kind and friendly & always out keeping the site immaculate. The shower blocks were always clean and tidy the shop very well stocked & cheaper than some of the town shops. Lots to do and see only a short and easy drive away to Woolacombe, Ilfracombe and many other places. Bob & Chris

An absolutely beautiful site, cannot fault the setting and views at all. People were so kind and friendly, especially the couple who ran the shop and I have never tasted better pain au chocolate for breakfast!!!
However, the warning for campers with tents was that it was an open site and so could be quite windy. We were prepared for this, but it was never really an issue. Our biggest gripe with the place was that we were not warned that the tent pitches with elec hook up were on a slope. There was no mention of this at all which I have considered complaining about seeing as it almost ruined our holiday. We have three children of 7, 6 and 2 and they all had to hold their plates on the table while eating to stop them sliding off. We all ended up at the bottom of our tent "bedrooms" by the morning. My husband commented that it was like being on the Titanic! It gave us headaches and more than one spill to clear up. Thankfully we were only there for five nights, if it had been two weeks I would have cried. NIGHTMARE - PLEASE WARN OTHER CAMPERS!!!!

I second all the positive opinions in the other reviews, all I'm adding is a couple of minor niggles - the gorgeous loo blocks are a very long uphill walk from where tents usually end up, so bring 'own san' if anyone in your party has bladder control issues! The kite field is narrow with a barbed wire fence, we spent part of the first morning disentangling a cow's tail from our kite. Luckily we are country bred and know how to handle cattle.
No-one else has mentioned that the site is not lit at night, so star-gazing is brilliant, as long as you don't have a noisy family with a set of disco lights and a forty-two inch telly planted right in front of you for the first five days. Next time will bring the elsan and beg to be right at the bottom away from people with electric hook-ups.

This is an excellent site sham it is not bookable through the club reservations department. We had a grass pitch in row E with a good view if you want grass best row is H as have amazing sea views or for Hardstanding Row P but you are a long walk up hill to the showers otherwise Row D hardstanding is nearer still with a good view. Row A is backing on to the childrens play area so great for families with children. If you dont mind the walk and want the view Row P and J are the best.

We LOVED this site. From waking up to beautiful sea views and watching the sun set in evening and flying the kids kites on the field to the short and easy drives to Woolacombe, Ilfracombe and many other places. Be sure to support the lovely, friendly family who run the on-site shop and sample the amazing goodies from the Morthoe seafood van. Just make sure you have an awning tiedown kit! Excellent site :)

This was our 5th visit to Damage Barton, its such a fab site, we just can't get enough of it. The staff are friendly and helpful, it has good sized pitches, spotlessly clean toilet blocks, amazing sea views, a brilliant on-site shop with plenty of variety at reasonable prices with very friendly shop assistants, who will bake to order for you ,and a chip van and seafood van which visits the site. The only downfall is that it can be an extremely windy site so awning straps are a must, can't wait to return again.

Just had a week here and what a great place it is, fantastic views with great coastal walks, but only a short drive from attractions. Good onsite shop with plenty of variety, local produce, reasonable prices and good stock of rock pegs which you will need if you have an awning on hardstanding. Staff are friendly, helpful and do a great job of keeping the site and facilities clean and tidy. Pitches are a good size and units are not so close that you feel cramped, you can look out of your window at the view, not straight into the next caravan. I would have no hesitation in recommending this site, but a little care is needed on the roads to the site as they are narrow in places with some sharp bends. Well worth the little extra effort to get there, we would be there every weekend but for the 300plus miles, even my wife who likes a new place every trip said she would like to return.

This was our first club site and from our experience won't be our last!We were a little concerned when booking that there was no childrens play equipment but it turned out to be all the better for it!
The site is very clean and quiet with stunning views to Lundy and South Wales. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially the owners of the shop.
The shop is also very reasonably priced and the home made food is especially good!
I wouldn't hesitate to stay again and would definitely recommend the site.

Our first visit to a club site, and, wow, were we impressed!
A very warm welcome, astounding views, and a very spacious site. No cheek-by-jowl here.
The toilets/showers were some of the best I've ever used. Even tho we had a lot of rain, they were always spotless. Lovely showers with controlable shower temperature, and moveable showere heads. Lots of room in all the cubicles, always loads of looroll. Only had to queue for the showers once, and not for very long.
The shop is fab - delicious croissants, pastries and locally produced food, as well as the usual beachy, sweetie stuff, too. Shop staff very friendly.
All staff were very helpful.
It is very windy on site, but that won't stop us from visiting again.

Another great stay at Damage Barton, the views are stunning.
Even though the site lacks play equipment our two found the site"brilliant" with lots of open spaces close to the site to let off steam & plenty to do.The dog enjoyed herself along the dog walk which has the best views!
Toilet block was always clean. The tents are sited at the bottom of the field so its uphill to the toilet block but at least that helps walk off the fantastic pasties made on site!
It was a professional welcome but maybe not as warm as we would like. But I am sure we will be back

I first visited this site with my parents, about 30 years ago and when I started camping with my family it was the first site I visited!
Fantastic views, large spacious pitches, immaculate and numerous toilets and showers.
Great central field for the kids to play football, kite flying field and dog walking area. It's been set up for a family holiday.
The shop sells everything you could needs, great fresh croissants in the morning and a first rate chip van!
