the location of the site next to the railway means it is noisey, both from the trains and the main road, oh and the planes passing over. The showers though hot drove me mad as they switch off after 5 secs....as do the taps..dont get time to wet your hands before it switches off again.

I would just like to let you know what a wonderful year we have had camping with the Club. I have taken a year off this year so had lots of camping breaks. We started our adventures in April at Winchcombe and travelled to Corfe Castle from there. We had glorious weather; the scenery was fantastic we visited Swanage and Studland Bay. In May we went to Sandringham, sadly the Queen wasn’t in, the site was set in beautiful grounds, and we visited Brancaster and Huntingham. Later that month we went to Hereford and here we visited The Weir and Symonds Yat. In June we went to Cheddar, Mendip Heights again outstanding views, we visited Glastonbury Tor and Wells. In July we went to Chipping Norton and we went to Cornbury Festival, we have been for the last 5 years, great music and wonderful atmosphere. At the end of the month we went to Veryan, again fantastic weather and views, we visited St Mawes, Falmouth, St Austall, Truro and local villages. We also camped at Bath on our way back to visit our daughter. August we went to Chard, not a club sites, not impressive. In September we went to Delamere Forest, had a lovely time at Chester and exploring the forest. In October we went to Preston, again not a club site, but we wanted to take our daughter to the illuminations .In between all these breaks we have had short stays at our second home Woverley. We would like to say every club site gave us a warm friendly welcome and we will not be going to non club sites next year. We store our caravan at Wolverley and sadly have just put it away for the winter, We would like to give a huge thank you to Carol and Mike Aspery, and their assistants for looking after us and our caravan for the 5th year, always friendly, helpful and welcoming. Looking forward to next season Merry Christmas to those now starting their winter break.

Although we haven't visited this site since April, we are due to go again soon and have stayed several times as it is convenient for visiting family & friends. We have always found the Wardens to be very friendly and helpful, nothing too much trouble, especially when we had to leave due to a family emergency, they were very helpful and kind. No, it doesn't have a playpark but there's a whole forest out there. And we met plenty of young families enjoying a great time without frisbees, footballs etc. There are many sites catering for these tastes and if that's what you want, Delamere is not for you. Yes there is a train station nearby and of course Liverpool & Manchester airports, but this has never disturbed us. There are so many places to visit within easy reach to suit all ages and tastes and the Wardens are always ready to help with suggestions/advice.

Visited the site in August and we were a wee bit concerned regarding some of the reviews, however we need not have been concerned at all. Got a warm welcome and lots of information, like the usual, what the site was all about, but also telling us of a pizza van and fish and chip van and when they would be there
Toilets and showers were spotless and the site was kept very clean. Yes we did hear planes and trains and also a wee bit of road noise but hey do we not here those kind of things at home. They certainly were not bad enough to spoil our holiday. There was a bit of a dip on the way out and having an older caravan we were a bit worried but even that was not a problem. If i had to make a negative comment it would be regarding the trees at the outside of the site the blocked the view of the road a wee bit. Would recommend this site to anyone it was friendly quite and very clean. Fabulous holiday will be going back again and again.

Looking at reviews was a little concerned re: showers etc. However, the welcome we received was warm and we were impressed with the cleanliness of the toilet/shower facilities. The showers were the push button type but good flow and lovely and hot. Always immaculately kept. The attached woods provided us with some lovely walks and the local visitor centre's food was excellent value. Train to Chester was on the hour so didn't need to drive. Planes caused no problem, certainly didn't keep us awake. We were at the other end away from trainline so couldn't hear it but it was only hourly and not very noisy. Road noise was apparent from about 6 am. Apart from that lovely site. Only bonus would be an area for the older kids to kick a ball around. Thank you to the staff- will be back.

had a mixed view about this site, pitches were big and level, but depending on where you were pitched you had some noise coming from the train station and the flight path, we also found it quite a walk to the toilet block from our pitch, and by the time you walked up and typed the door code in you were desperate for the toilet. Wardens were very friendly and site was kept very clean and tidy. My kids were a bit lost without a play park to play in even though they found a tree swing in the forest, entry gate to the park is in a small dip and can be hard to exit from site due to bushes sticking out. Not sure if I would return to this site again.

A welcoming and friendly site with nice staff. A great location for walking and cycling - ideal for families etc. Th e toilet/shower block facilities were always clean but did get busy (we had to queue a couple of times), and the timer taps in the showers only lasted a few seconds which became a bit irritating. The site does have a railway line and road running adjacent to it - but these didn't detract from the overall peace and quite. To conclude - a recommended site worthy of a visit if you're planning outdoor activities etc.

We recieved a warm welcome from the friendly wardens who showed us to our pitch. Theyb also supplied us with information regarding the local area. There is some noise from the nearby road and railway line, but it did not spoil our stay. The facilities were very good and clean, our only criticism would be that the shower cubicles were on the small side and that it was necessary to keep pressing the shower button every few seconds.

Welcome was good, site was nicely maintained with clean facilities.
Would stay again and would recommend. Plenty of forest walking from site. Station 2 mins away, trains to Manchester and Chester...
Shop 1 mile walk away.
Only downside, some road noise, not necessarily a problem.

We have just come back from Delamere, and although we found it a lovely setting, we would say that this is not the campsite for us. The site itself is very clean with a surrounding forest and lake which is ideal for walking and dog walkers. However this was spoilt by over zealous jobsworth wardens who clamp down on anyone trying to have an enjoyable break. First of all, we were allocated our pitch and proceeded to set up our tent only to be told to take it down and move it as we were 2 feet over our pitch despite there being more than ample room, Secondly, I would not recommend this site for families who like to do the normal family stuff whilst camping as ballgames and frisbees are not permitted. Nor are campfires, even though they are off the ground. As for comments about the noise, I would say that there is minimal to worry about apart from the occasional train, but the amount of people moaning on this site about it does suprise me as 90% of the people on the campsite site seemed to prefer to sit inside their campervans watching tv than actually being outdoors. We have been to many a compsite over the years but just not our idea of a camping holiday for the family. Overall, very disappointed and will not be returning.

Stayed here for two nights for a family break. On arrival at the site we were shown to our pitch which was level and very spacious and next to a wood. The toilets and showers were very clean and tidy.Four shower cubicles with adequate hot water, you do have to keep pressing the button though. Also three cubicles for washing and shaving in,plenty of hooks on all doors.Tumble dryer £1/20mins Washer £3.50.Indoor washing up facilities.Pizza van sat.night, fish and chip van sun.night.till about 7pm.Lots of walks,2pubs nearby at end of station road.Station nest to camp also Go Ape for the over 10's.As for noise on site you could here the trains and planes but it was minimul,if noise does bother you take some earplugs. Visited Chester Zoo,amazing experience, you need all day to see everthing so go early gates open at 10 am.Booked tickets online cheaper also fast tracks you into the zoo.

The site is easy to find and the welcome was warm but not too 'over friendly'. After checking in, the warden showed us to our pitch, which he selected after looking at our van (an old VW bus) and it turned out to be just right; flat, near the gate and facilities, and amongst tents rather than flashy motorhomes and huge caravans.
The facilities are very clean, and although there are only 4 showers for each sex, we did not have to queue at all. The chip van in Sunday evening was a lovely surprise though we were prepared for some basic cooking.
Other reviews mention noise, but we suffered none at all; we could JUST hear the train, but it is only once an hour, and absolutely NO aircraft noise.
The forest is great to walk through (buy the guide) and there are a couple of pubs nearby (30 minutes to 1 hour on foot). Chester is 20 minutes on the train.
A lovely weekend, highly recommended.

We've just returned from a weekend at this site and can't speak highly enough of it. The welcome was very friendly, site immaculate, facilities were also excellent. We enjoyed a relaxing couple of days and will definitely return soon. Highlights were the chip van on friday, the Go Ape course which was amazing and the usual freedom for the kids on site. Other reviews have mentioned noise which we really didn't notice.

The site was excellent for everyone - the 2 kids and the dog loved being right next to the forest and it provided some well needed shade. We found a rope swing in the forest which provided hours of fun. Lots of lovely walks direct from the caravan. The facilities were in excellent condition and the staff were very friendly. We stayed for 6 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We'll certainly be back this year.

First of all, the welcome that we received at this site was brilliant. The people were friendly and helpful. The facilities are adequate, but my husband was not impressed by having his feet washed in the run off from the next shower cubicle.
The site itself is deceptive, it looks peaceful and tranquil surrounded by trees, but unfortunately the noise was enough to spoil our stay. The site is right next to a railway station and the trains are not quiet, however, the road traffic and aircraft noise (under a flight path) is enough to make you wish you'd brought earplugs!
The nail in the coffin of our stay was the other people on the site. Kids were allowed to use the roads around the site as a bicycle race track, constantly shouting and screaming as they went. When they tired of this, they raced around between the pitches with the parents hardly batting an eyelid.
All in all, a nice place ruined. We will not be returning to this particular site.

Despite the warm welcome and the good standard of the site facilities, our stay was blighted by the level of noise on the site. Not only is the site next to a railway station, it also seems to be on the direct flight path of either Manchester or Liverpool airports, aircraft pass over at around 1000ft from 0500 ~ 2300, nice alarm call. Also, the site is next to quite a busy road. Wether atypical to our stay the site was over run by noisy children using the site as a race track for mountain bikes. Disappointed - yes.

What a lovely site. On arrival the Wardens and Assistant wardens could not have been more friendly or helpful. We were shown to our site and they would have helped us pitch up if needed. There is a fish and chip van on the Friday night which was great. Husband said he has not tasted fish as nice for a long time. Did not really go anywhere as the weather was great and the site fantastic and we were only there for a long weekend. Looking forward to going again, hopefully May as not far from where we live.

Very pleasant location, good sized pitches some with nice views. Good for dog walking in the adjacent forest.Convenient for train to Chester. Forest Visitor Centre and cafe nearby, but shops and pubs some distance down busy road, so less suitable for motorhomers. Insufficient waste water points, also would have had to take motorhome through 2 gates and round one way system to fill up or empty: luckily I have plastic cans and a trolley, as the faciities are at one end of the site. They were very clean as usual, but the showers are dire, giving a powerful 3 second burst of water to the face (and clothes if you haven't got the curtain carefully arranged!) and needing repeated presses on the button to continue. This annoying lack of attention to detail spoils what could be an excellent site.

Great modern site, flat and large pitch tents in middle on grass caravans around the outside as a rule. the site has access to the forrest and that is were you walk the dogs (need a torch) next to the railway which is not a main line and not high speed but do get the train around 7.30am going to chester but good for a day out. Caravan shop about a mile away for any parts etc that may be needed and shop in village about half a mile away. Nice little village called frodsham with restaurants and pubs but about 5 min drive also oulton park racing about 5 mins was not open when we went but if like bike/car racing would be great. no park for the kids but a forrest for them to enjoy
