We only live 30 mins away from this site, but thought we would use it to test out the van after winter hibernation!! Brilliant site. The access road was no problem at all. Spotless facilities. Wardens friendly and chatty. Brilliant walk into Folkestone. Lovely peacful site with fabulous views across the Channel.

Being new to campervan life, I chose this site as it was the closest to my home and therefore suitable for a trial night away in my recently acquired VW Camper. I was not disappointed. The access road has obviously been upgraded recently, and no sign of any parked vehicles restricting access. The friendliest of greetings and briefing from the duty warden (Karen) . Toilet & amenities block are immaculate, although these may get somewhat crowded when the site is full. The attractions of an interesting shaped site, a beach on the doorstep, and waking to the sounds of waves on the shore makes this a great spot for a very relaxed stay. I walked into Folkestone where there is no shortage of eating and drinking establishments but you need a reasonable degree of fitness for the trek (or did i take the wrong path?) I'll definitely be returning.

Road access not a problem , steep in places but not but no potholes or other hazards.
Great site for exploring the area on foot or by bicycle lots of interesting places in local area. Folkstone is a little passed its best maybe but Hythe is well with worth a visit and other campers recommended Dover Castle. We had lovely ride along coast to Hythe.
The campsite is a little oasis of green amongst the Chalky cliffs of The Warren and was just great. Park up with back of van to the sea for wall to wall sunshine..... Very rare I know but we did have one day at least. We will be back .

We recently booked in to stay at Folkstone C&CC site in our motorhome. The site does not cater for caravans
On our arrival at the entrance lane we were greeted by a very unsatisfactory entrance which I was not prepared to negotiate in our van due to the sudden and very uneven drop in the road surface. I may have got in unscathed but looking at the gouge marks on the lower side getting out could have been damaging.
I had to walk down to the office, cancel my booking and move elsewhere.
This is the first time we have been unable to access a site and bearing in mind this is a Club site I do think the club should make some urgent effort to upgrade and improve this access.
I too will be writing to the Club!

Cannot comment as to the condition of the site as I was unable to access it due to vehicles being parked along the access track. The track can best be described as a cart track and is totally unsuitable for motorhomes. Other respondents have commented on the condition of the track and they are not exaggerating how rough it is.
I have written to the CCC and have recommended they state in the sites book that it is unsuitable for motorhomes.

Very recently returned from a weeks break, cannot fault the site, have been there a number of times now and always enjoy the stay. The potholes were not that bad and have now been tarmaced. The road is steep and in places narrow with parked cars sometimes, and so far, I have always manage to get a 30ft winnebago down there without problems. The staff are pleasent and accomodating, The only critisisms I have are the night lights are a bit too bright, and the wi-fi is non existant, but that is a problem for the club to sort out. (get on with it CCC, you shouldn't be charging for a non existant service)

Having read reviews of the site, we were expecting the dreadful lane to the site but not the welcome. I had booked to arrive at 8.00pm but the M20 was closed southbound at J10 for resurfacing. I phoned the site and left a message on the answerphone that we would be late but we were welcomed with 'I'm only paid until 5.30 pm. There must be a very good reason to arrive after 8.00pm as stated in the T&Cs'. Any explanation fell on deaf ears. Pity, because other than the access, it is a nice site.

If you remotly value your vehicle give this a miss. The access road is atrocious being steep, potholed and blocked with other vehicles. If you have a larger motorhome them unless you are a member of the magic circle you have little chance. Did i mention the potholes, these are of lunar crater proportions
An idea for a good business opportunity would be to set up a spring and whel bearing replacement shop at the campsite
Once you get there the facilities are too limited for the size of the site. The staff seemed to find my complaints about the foad funny, I was not laughing.
I was extremely disapointed that the CCC considers this a viable site for motorhomes, it needs sorting!

others have commented on the potholed access road to this site which is very very bad but we could not even get halfway down due to all the locals parking all the way down to the site so they could visit the beach even tho a sign said no parking on roadway one gentleman was even camping in a caravan at the side of the .luckily we only have a 6 meter motor home so we did a seven point turn and crawled out and went to another site.

Cannot comment on the site facilities as we arrived on a sunny sunday and after driving down a steep badly potholed and very narrow approach track then along the side of a railway line with locals vehicles parked all over the place We arrived at a fork in the track and could not travel any further due to cars being parked both sides of the track blocking my access.A local walker passing by my motorhome told me that I would not be able to reach the site due to all the vehicles parked on the track so I managed a seven point U turn (luckily my unit is only 6 metres long )and exitted the place and found another campsite I was one of three units that could not gain access to the site that day who found themselves on the sma site that I found

The location of this site is its biggest asset for dog owners and any who want to be beside the seaside.
Our only gripe was about the orange street lighting at night coupled with the white lights on the electricity bollards. We live in the country and expect darkness at night in a country location. We expect to see the stars!

I have only started camping with my young children (1, 4 & 7 Years) over the last three summers, but this is easily the best kept campsite I have ever stayed at. The toilets and shower facilities are so well maintained. The facilities for parents with babies are an excellent addition that I have not encountered elsewhere. The general upkeep of the site including the flowers make it very easy on the eyes. It had views of the cliffs on one side and the sea on the other. The site itself is not a boring rectangle but a series of little secluded spots, so we never felt on top of others. The shop is very handy the town is not walking distance- just make a note of it's opening hours on arrival. We were a group of four mums with about 10 kids between us, so the proximity to the beach could not have been better. The staff are keen to keep everyone to the minimum space between tent rules but this only benefits the site as it doesn't feel over crowded. All in all we had a lovely three nights on an attractive campsite and we will certainly be back!

This is a really beautiful site, very peaceful and with wonderful views. The beach and large former pier are just a few minutes' walk away. Road down wasn't as bad as I had read about, although full of potholes you do need to be careful. Only 2 showers in one block but since it is offseason not too bad. Staff- varies, one team really friendly, other team a bit of attitude and selective who they were friendly to - pity as otherwise would have scored 5 out of 5.

The CONDITION of the access road was a disgrace. Yes, it is steep and there are few passing places, but there is an access warning in the campsite directory. There are serious potholes which are deep and potentially damaging for vehicles. This was the worst road leading to a campsite that I have ever had the misfortune to travel along. A real shame as the campsite is lovely, with great views, handy for the Eurotunnel and easy access to the beach. I would urge all those that care about there motorhome to avoid using this site until the roadway has been repaired.

I spent two weeks at this site with my family and the worst thing by far is the road leading to the site. It is terrible, the pot holes are massive and there are lots of them. If you care about your vehicle at all you need to drive very slowly & carefully to avoid them. When we finally got to the site we found the staff to be very helpful and they explained the site rules, where everything was and took us to our pitch which was in a great location. The site was kept in good condition and the showers were clean apart from some campers not cleaning after they used the facilities but this is NOT the sites fault .The showers could get full at peak times but I never found this to be a problem. The surrounding areas (Folkestone & Dover) were great, Folkestone could do with a bit of money being spent on the sea front but Dover is fine, recommend Dover Castle and there is always the option of a boat tour to see the white cliffs. Apart from the access road to the site I would find it very hard to find a fault with this site and I would definitely go again.

Great site, wonderful views, simple and decent facilities, very close to the beach and town which is a big plus. The only downside has been the jobsworth attitude of one of the management who likes to lord it over the campers. My children were playing with bubble mix and he was there within 3 minutes to warn us that bubble mix damages the waterproofing on tents (really? I doubt it) and that we should stop. This is the reason I am writing this review.

What a great site, so chilled out, it's that relaxed we had rabbits running around the tents. All the staff were so friendly. The wash rooms were nice and clean. I'm looking for another reason to come back.
A lot of people that have left reviews have mentioned the access to the site. Yes there are are potholes and not many places to pass. However I didn't have a problem in a 20 year old Mini Cooper with 6 inches ground clearance. Maybe some of us are better drivers and can adapt to the changing road conditions.

Thought the terraced areas for tents were lovely! The veiws were stupendous. the beach below was great for walking our dawg.
The toilet/shower blocks are the best i have ever seen, we were sited right next to them so very convenient1 Ha Ha,
As others have said the road in is dire & something should be done about it as could ruin your suspension! If you want a shady pitch ask for one on the back, sunny ones to the sea edge Very friendly helpful staff!

A very lovely small and intimate site, with some sea views to France from the pitch with friendly and helpful staff.
We went in a 6 birthed (7.2 metre) motorhome. The access road is quite steep, potholed with very little space to pass, so we had to take a run at it to ensure we got out!
our pitch was just over a grass ridge and we stayed just after a three week spell of rain so had to wheel spin onto the tarmac central road too get off the pitch, so booking your pitch is essential!
I would stay again as it was such a nice place but would go in a smaller/4x4 vehicle.

Booked this site at least 6 wks in advance & being members we were quite confident that a decent pitch would be available for us. However when we arrived someone who needed a pitch for the night was given the plot we were supposed to have had. Would'nt normally have been a problem however due to abnormal rail fall and because so many people had turned up without booking we were given a pitch which was basically 'camped out' it had been used so much that the ground was bare, consequently when the rain came it turned to sheer mud. This pitch should not have been hired out it needed time to recover. It was the worst pitch we have ever been given. Maybe lessons should be learned !! It seems they take no notice of membership bookings in advance - it's just first come first served. Having said that the site is very well cared for, shower & toilet block was very clean. There is a small shop/reception but nothing else (club house etc). Lovely views over to the sea and easy access to the beach. The road/track leading to the site is not good however we were not towing so it was not too much problem, but it could prove to be with a caravan. Would go back again as it is a lovely place, and good base for exploring the area.

This is a little gem of a site - it's so peaceful and in a lovely location, right by a wonderful beach. We found the site staff to be very friendly and helpful. The pitches were well kept and the correct space kept between each one, so as everyone had the right amount of space for cars etc. The Warren has lovely walks along the cliff or beach and wildlife to watch - we saw a fox and quite a few rabbits on our walks. There are plenty of places to visit from the site - we went to Canterbury which has the Cathedral and plenty of shops, a mix of the ancient and modern. We also visited a couple of the steam railways in the area. Folkestone has plenty of shops (don't be put off by the part by the harbour as further up there are lovely walks along the cliffs and seafront). The only negative I can think about (which didn't spoil it for us by the way), is a very rough road down to the site - but we believe this is going to be fixed within the next few weeks. We hope to return again soon.

Stayed for 4 nights with 2 children. They enjoyed the beach but on the two rainy days there was nothing for them to do so we had to spend more money on days out. This site could and should have a play area at its centre. The beach was also a popular dog walking area for other campers and the sea wall has no railing and could be dangerous, especially when tide is in. I would not rec. this site to parents of young children (ours are 6 and 3) Facilities blocks etc very clean but could have done with more loos for those camping. Access road was very poor. The site was welcoming and well maintained. The weather was a bit "iffy", but didn't spoil a great break. Walking is good from the site, with easy access to the beach and onto the famous "White Cliffs". On drizzly days we visited castles - Dover's is brilliant and deserves a whole day. Even though the site is on the cliff it is well fenced off and it was safe for our 1 year old son to run around. People have commented on the poor access road which has a number of pot holes but it is right to say this is owned by the railway company and not the site.

Alan reviewed Folkestone Club Campsite...
I have visited Folkestone numerous times and used other camp sites in the area. I will not mention the names of the others as this I feel would be unfair. The one and main objection I had with this site is the price it was way above the norm at least £10 above the norm. Was it worth the extra, not one bit.To gain access to the site you drive down a lane that is badly potholed with numerous corners and whats more no lighting what so ever.I have to say I only adventured out by foot once in the 4 days I was there and it can be quite dangerous using the lane,to re enter on my return we used the beach side which was obvously a great improvement. The amenities were clean and well kept however the end of the site I stayed at there was only two showers for the males who were there and I was lucky in that I am an early riser, 0600 hrs normally. For the majority who felt 0800 hrs is a nice time to get up had a lengthy wait for the use of the shower. Once again I will add a second facilities block was at the entrance to site but a 3 minute walk away how many showers were there I am afraid I cannot say. To go back to the cost my last two camp sites I stayed at one near Ipswich the other near Sevenoaks both had swimming pools and both had a small club house and both were praivately run and only cost £24 a night in August.Folkestone its self is worth the visit and the Warren country park is worth a stroll. The staff on the camp site must have a mention as without a doubt they are polite and helpful and be could not be faulted. This only a personnel review, and I have read many so if you wish to go I would go as I have read many a review, gone, and thought the opposite what someone had written.

My husband loves fishing while we are there and i love waking up with the sound for the sea and the piece and quite.
Recommend to all my friends and family as a great site, and have made some great friends while there.

When we arrived they said we would love it here! Well we did - what a simply fantastic site. Yes the access road is a bit steep with pot holes, take it slowly you'll be fine!
What you find at the bottom is well worth it - beautiful, quiet but for the sound of the sea, lovely coastal walks (40 mins to Folkestone). Toilets and showers were very clean, staff were very friendly.
BBQs off the ground are allowed and with the cliffs behind you and the sea in front the spot was well sheltered for tents and has it's own little climate.
Can't wait to go back and glad we don't live far!

We loved this site, but the road in was really scary. We weren't always sure we were on the right road and if we were really going to end up in a campground. It was quite a walk into the city but we were rewarded with a Starbucks and it is also the home of Vacarious Books. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. But we never did get the wifi to work - not even standing right in front of the signal post.

What a great Campsite. I would give more than 5 stars if posiible. Friendliness cleanness including facilities couldn't be better. It was the last site on our trip through England and Scottland but the best. I'm sure we'll come back next year.

Fantastic location nestled under cliffs and just above the beach. Very busy when I was there with lots of families staying. Folkestone (which has good shopping and a lovely sandy beach) is very convenient if you follow the sea front route whilst you can also head up to the top of the cliffs for fantastic views back down to the site. You can also follow the footpath at the top of the cliffs to the Battle of Britain memorial and then the Cliff Top café. The wardens were very friendly and very helpful and the facilities were excellent with the toilets and showers being very modern and very well maintained. The final road to the site is steep and was quite potholed when I was there but it is fine if you take it carefully.

We have just spent a lovely week. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Facilities were very clean. Ideal for walking into Folkestone, so don't need to use the car everyday. Very quiet so you can just sit and enjoy the relaxing views, walk down to the beach. Can't wait to return next year!

What a lovely site in a stunning location. Very quiet with only the sound of the sea on the beach to lull you off to sleep!
The road to the site is a bit narrow, but dont let this put you off we got our large folding camper down it with no problems at all. The site staff are really friendly, and nothing is too much trouble for them. They even arranged for a steam train to pass the site during our stay ;)

Another little gem of a site. Managers were so friendly and helpful. The access is a bit tight, but take it slowly and its fine. Lots of wonderful coastal walks to enjoy with our dogs and Folkestone took just 30 minutes by foot along the footpath. The town is undergoing a big rejuvenation project at the moment and the old town is definitely worth a walk around with a large market on Saturdays. The site can get busy, which is not surprisng with Dover port just round the corner, but it was always spotless and quiet at night. For any keen anglers this site is a must with the beach right on your doorstep. Another big thumbs up, 5 star.

This site has fabulous views, friendly helpful staff and spotless facilities. Access road is quite steep and narrow and requires careful driving. Mobile signal is virtually non-existent but there is a payphone on site. Shop is well stocked and newspapers can be ordered.
A great place to get away from it all.

Lovely site made even better by the brilliant warden's. They keep the site and facilities spotless and always give you a warm welcome. We have visited the site several times in the last fee years and always have a relaxing time. The access road is a little tricky, we have a large folding camper, but more than possible if you just take it carefully and slow. In low season this site is lovely and quiet, in high season it is a little overrun by kids but I can see why with the great beach access. We always camp with our 2 labs who love the beach. No dog restrictions at any time of year. Quite a remote site but if you pack all you need you can easily not move all holiday - just relax and listen to the waves. They also sell all the essentials from the little on site shop. Great site - we love it.

We live local and love this site! Our children always ask to return here as they are always made to feel welcome and they have so much fun.
We have been visiting the last few years and are booked again for this summer.
Over all the sites we have visited we have never found any with the toilets and showers SO CLEAN! This is a HUGE plus for us.
The staff are very friendly and I couldn't recommend this site enough!

Its a brilliant site but the road to its a nightmare of potholes.
Its a pity the season isn't longer there I'm sure it could be used all season.
Unfortunately its turning into a motor home biased site but so long as we can get on grass well be visiting every few months as usual as we have for years.

Great site for families or groups wanting to camp together.
Children were told they could play ball games on empty pitches and allowed to chalk on the roads. Groups of tents were allowed to pitch very close together ignoring the 20 ft rule. Facilities were usual high standard but not many showers/toilets considering how many tents there were.
Great views to some pitches and it's only a 30metre walk to the beach. Then if you are feeling up to it cut through the woods, over the golf course, down some steps and you are in Folkestone harbour. We didn't get the peace and quiet we expected for a couple on their own but still had a lovely weekend and will return with our own extended family in tow!!
