This was our return to camping after 25 years. This site exceeded all our expectations and we were able to enjoy ourselves despite the very varied Easter weather. Everything had a beginning of season brightness and was spotlessly clean.
There is plenty to do in the area, we would especially recommend a visit to Agatha Chriisties house Greenlands. Take a boat from Dartmouth. Coastal views and walks are excellent too.
Finally the pub next door has reopened and while not being gourmet standard gave excellent value for money- sunday lunch for 4 including drinks for less that £40

We stayed with friends at this lovely site and had a wonderful welcome, the staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. The toilet/shower block was excellent and kept very clean. The location is beautiful although very hilly if you go cycling or walking. Local pub 10 minute walk from site is very welcoming and you could take dogs there - also serve good pub grub. Will definitely return.

Great site! Friendly staff, clean and tidy facilities and lovely views.
The pub next to the site had closed down which was a shame.
Dartmouth itself is a great town and unknown to ourselves we had booked during regatta week which meant plenty of activities going on all week. What a treat! We will definitely return.

A smashing site, in a great location. As peaceful or as energetic as you like to make it. Drivers need to be aware that the approach road is a tad narrow, but as long as you are careful, no problems. Although imacculately clean the shower blocks are not the most modern, but more than adequate. Papers and pies can be ordered daily. Pity the Deer Park restaurant situated outside the entrance is closed as the walk to the Green Dragon in Stoke Fleming is OK, the walk back (uphill all the way) is a bit of a trial. Especially after a few drinks. The bus stop right outside the main entrance and a short bus ride to Dartmouth is a great experience through narrowlanes and even narrower streets. Regular at 10 to the hour through most of the day with the last bus back at 18.15. Ferries good value with buses to Brixham, Paignton and torquay. Last but not least, the staff at the site are very friendly and extremely helpful. Would definitely use this site again.

We have used this site many times and it is always a great site with very caring, helpful staff. There was a pub on site which was no great shakes, but for reasonable ‘pub grub’ it was OK. Importantly the pub was available for the meal on the first night after travelling all day – but when we arrived last time it had ceased trading. Perhaps a note on the website would help so others (and there were many families trying the door) would know before arriving. As it happens we walked into the village and found a busy pub serving reasonable food. Very few tables, and overstretched staff, forced many people away.
Great site but be prepared to not have an easy meal at the pub!

Lovely site, well up to the usual standards for cleanliness in toilet/shower blocks, good pot washing area (with a sea view) - pity the Deer Park Inn at the entrance has closed down but hopefully this will be rectified soon.
Only gripe would be the noise levels from the park area (which the wardens did their best to control) and access to that play park....right through the middle of our pitch, jumping over guy ropes and bashing into our van in the process. This was not the fault of the site or the wardens but I wouldn't return unless I could pitch well away from this next time.
Nice part of the country, lovely sea views from the site, which was peaceful and quiet after 11 p.m. Shop sold fresh bread which could be ordered and had lots of info on local attractions etc. (We used the Sportsmans Arms - about 10 mins. away - good carvery and steaks, quite reasonable prices for food but expensive for drinks).
Round Robin trip from Dartmouth is a must (£62 for a family ticket)

This was our second visit to this site and we had a good time; as other reviews mention the site is well located, clean etc etc. However we have a couple of negative comments from this stay - unfortunately the wardens were using the grass cutters/lawn mowers to guide new arrivals to their pitches which really did spoil the peace and quiet and given that it was a busy bank holiday we got to hear the machine many times! Also we experienced cars being driven back to pitches as late as 1 and 2 in the morning and being driven away as early as 6am - not at all appreciated!!

We have returned from 11 fab nights at the site (the only downside for us was we couldn't stay longer). We feel this is the best site we have visited, facilities are spotless all the time. The site is well kept. The pitch we had was excellent, not too far from the park, or from the toilets. The beach isnt too far to walk too - the parking at the beach is a little pricey. Dartmouth is a nice town and good for crabbing. The Sportsman is good for a meal. Nice outdoor pool just down the road. We have had a great holiday and look forward to visiting again. What more can I say - well worth a stay.

We have just returned from 12 nights at this site with my twin boys aged 3. We booked a jumbo pitch and we weren't disappointed with the space allocated to us in terms of size you really couldn't wish for more. The pitches are very well kept indeed. The facilities are the cleanest I have ever seen, in fact they put my gym to shame!! The showers are hot and quite powerful and there is a family shower room which was essential for us. The staff were helpful and welcoming and the recycling scheme on site is well done. There were a few negatives. The first of these was not the fault of the site, the pub on site has closed down which was a real blow as we partly bookd cos of this. The shop doesn't have a huge variety and we were in the bottom field whcih meant a very long walk with the kids to the facilities. There was a portaloo nearish to the tent but the boys weren't keen on it so we had a really long trek. The play area was too old for our children as well which was a shame. The area is wonderful I would recommend the local pub the Green Dragon and for food there are fab places in Dartmouth The Floating Bridge is great with kiddies. Cockington craft centre in Torquay is also well worth a look. The local beach is Blackpool Sands, and is best reached on foot (takes about 30 mins with kids the site have a really handy walking guide on howto get there) or by bus (which stops outside the campsite and is very handy!) as the car park costs a bit it is very stoney too so make use of the sandpits. Bantham beach further along the coast is a great sandy beach. If you get a chance go to the Church House Inn in Churchtown it really is wonderful. All in all the site is well run and friendly. I feel it was a bit expensive at over £400 for 12 nights but we had a great time. The best sea views and proximity to facilities are on the hardstanding pitches so perhaps this is one for caravaners.

Very friendly welcome. We were in a group of three families and we were all close together.
Park and ride is close to the site and we made good use of it. The children enjoyed the park on site.
We all enjoyed a walk down to Blackpool sands (which is a bit too stony and water gets very deep very quick). My children aged nine and six managed the walk although it is a bit steep but manageable.
A very pretty part of the country with fantastic views.

Our second time of use - and again a very positive experience.
One drawback was the fact that the next door pub had closed, so we had to out to the Sportsman - on our way in - and had a very agreeable meal with good local beer.
One question - I have often heard of and met a camp site dog,but did I see a camp site rabbit at his site??
Disabled facilities were very good and I was able to use my RADAR key. Any chance of getting this facility on other sites instead opf having to loan out Yale keys!

love this site. been back here 2 years running for our family holiday. as always staff are very friendly and helpful with the reversing! even had help with setting up the satellite from fellow vanners and staff. as a base the area is fantastic after the car is free. dartmouth is lovely, try bee sands and the fish shack, dittesham for crabbing. a bit further away there are several national trust houses and beaches. family friendly pubs, i have to mention the one on torcross beach, south pool, banyards cove (eat a takeaway by the river), the royal dart for the window seat watching the ferry. so sad that the deer park inn has now closed. please somebody open it back up! we will be back.

We arrived in the pouring rain, nice welcome and the warden came with us to the pitch, he was soaked bless him. Even helped us to line the van up. Wardens very friendly and helpful. Thanks to Gary for his help with our leaking tap. Site has bus stops right outside, so very handy. Park and Ride quite reasonable in Dartmouth. There was a pub/restuarant on site but it closed for some reason. Only complaint was the weather but that is nobody's fault. A lovely peaceful site, well kept grounds and super clean facilities. Well done x

We've also had a great half term week at Dartmouth. Very friendly welcome from staff and very helpful throughout the week. Site well maintained and facilities spotless. The play area is enclosed with plenty of room to run around in and has a nice climbing frame / climbing wall / bars / slide set-up.
We enjoyed strolling through Dartmouth town and our children enjoyed crabbing for the first time, and we even got to see a seal in the water! A good base to visit the castle, go on a boat trip or a steam train ride. Also other towns are not too far away if you want to go exploring.
The beach at Blackpool Sands has a nice cafe and shop, and the best beach toilets we’ve come across! Parking costs £4 per day but you park right next to the beach. It is a shingle beach but there are two giant sand pits on the beach so the children can still build their sand castles!
We found a small outdoor swimming pool open to the public at the nearby Dartmouth Academy School. Unfortunately we discovered it on our last day at 5pm, when it was closing for the day, but if looked like a nice place for a swim.
Thoroughly enjoyed our week at this site!

Just had a great half term week at Dartmouth, lovely clean site, very friendly staff on hand who always look to help you where they can. If it had another toilet/shower block on the opposite side of the site it would be an absolute cracker! Close to Dartmouth and the beach at Blackpool Sands (good cafe/shop/toilets and can park right next to beach). Excellent play area for the kids. Dont be put off by the look of the pub next to the site, friendly staff and good food! Would certainly recommend the site.

Having visited the site prior to and over the Easter period, i thought i would post this review.
staff were very helpfull and friendly, the site facilities were very clean and in excellant repair
We asked for and got an area with WI-Fi connection and the signal strength remained constant.
Dartmouth and the fantastic scenery around Blackpool beach was only few minutes drive away
the only negative for me was the charge of £10 per person for our Son and g/f who stayed within our trailer tent for one night (expensive shower that !)
overall highly recommended and will definatly use the site again.

When we arrived the reception was closed, we had to ring a number to let them know we arrived. We did not wait long.
The hard standing pitch was well placed, not too far away from the loos & showers. They were very clean and warm at all times, the facilities were up to a very high standard.
The pitch was near to the lovely childrens park area, my toddler enjoyed discovering the park!
we would return, stay longer than the one nite which we did at the start of our holiday.
once again, the showers and loos very high standard.

We visited the site in August 2009 and returned in August 2010 which speaks for itself. Obviously this is peak season so the facilities can't be spotlessly clean all the time but I've no doubt at quieter times they would score 5 points for cleanliness. The staff are very welcoming, courteous and helpful. Site location is superb with many pitches having a limited sea view. The downside of that being that it's pretty exposed in bad weather. A lovely walk down into Dartmouth (you may want to take the bus back though) and the glorious Blackpool Sands nearby too. Excellent site with something for everyone. Highly recommended.

We have just enjoyed a most delightful stay at the Dartmouth site. The facilities are kept in superb condition and the grounds are also kept tidy and well mown on grass areas. Although this site was very good we were dissapionted with the Family room. It was a well equiped wet room and therefore only had shower facilities. This making it the same as the male and female areas washing areas. We were camping with a baby and a one year old who still required bathing so it was unsuitable for our purpose.

Great site. level pitches, all electric. Can be a good walk to the toilet block which may be a consideration for some people, and although Anna could not have been more helpful in helping me to sort a suitable pitch for us you will need to discuss this when booking during high season.
Some of the local siteseeing can involve very narrow roads and lots of reversing to let the locals pass, but again Anna is a mine of local information so always worth discussing plans with her. Where possible go on foot and don't forget swimsuit for the great local beaches. National Trust house 'Overbecks' was a nightmare to drive to.........not recommended!!! but the Dartmouth 'round robin' on the steam train, open top bus (take a head scarf!) and river boat (take binoculars) was fantastic and well worth the price.
