We have used this site twice as a stopover on our travels to Scotland. On our first visit we were pleasantly surprised by the area and decided to return. It has a beautiful beach and lovely coastal walks. The Site Managers on both occasions have been very relaxed (It makes a big difference when you arrive after traveling 200plus miles). The site is on a bay and we have done a different walk each time. (It blows the cobwebs off and revitalises us for our conntinuing journey the next day). It is a site where you could easily spend a few extra days.

Really friendly and welcoming staff.
Excellent coastal location, the views of the sun set are stunning.
Facilities were spotless and ground was in good condition. With the site being once being a quarry a rubber mallet comes in handy when pitching the tent!
Edinburgh is quick train journey frrom Dunbar station - only £6.

This was my second visit to the Dunbar site this summer and I received another warm welcome from Sheila and Julian who recognised me from our initial visit. I was accompanied to a very appropriate pitch near other children for my little boy, who ran off to make new friends once chores were complete.
Later in the day we cycled to Barns Ness Lighthouse - well worth a visit.
We were wakened in the morning with the most stunning view of Dunbar and a beautiful sunrise. We went a lovely cycle to Dunbar for an ice-cream float and returned to comb the beach a short walk from the site.
The facilities on site are immaculate Sheila and Julian are friendly, helpful and endeavour to make your stay stress free and relaxing.
We will return again and again.

What a lovely site and staff. We had an issue the first night whereby our pitch became water logged, however staff where fab and helped get us and our awning moved. Facilities where first class, so clean. What a credit to management team.

Great welcome to the site with Alan taking us to our pitch, advising how to park, and assisting with the uncoupling and positioning the van. Unprecedented service in our experience!
This site has excellent views from its tiered pitches, while there are superb walks on the almost empty beaches nearby. Cycling is good too with official cycle routes passing nearby and a network of quiet minor roads. The wardens loaned us a cycling map which was very helpful.
You can get to Edinburgh by train from Dunbar or drive closer in and take the park and ride.
The site's facilities were all that we needed, with plenty of clean loos and modern hot showers. TV/radio reception was good too. There is an ASDA supermarket nearby.
Any negatives - well, as others have noted, it can be a tad windswept and we did encounter an exceptionally heavy rain storm, but we will certainly be back. A lovely location with helpful friendly staff.

after going to this site for at least 5 times this year and several times last year we have enjoyed our stays however during the past few wet spells it has become obvious that the site is very badly laid out with multiple pitches constantly flooding ,when asked about the flooding i was told it was due to hard ground when in fact it is down to very poor drainage ,( land drainage is part of my profession) which for a new site is very bad advertisment whilst there i noticed that the site manager was more concerned about site disipline which in my own mind is good but not to the deteriment of flooded out campers. Then today without any warning the manager decided to implement dogs on leads in the bottom dog walk. one of the reasons we used Dunbar was that there was an area which allowed us to let our dogs have a supervised free run. Due to the new rules we had no option but to terminate our holiday as there was no way we were going to keep our dogs on a lead everytime they were walked, they don't have to endure this treatment when at home so why should their habits have to be changed. The reason we were given for this new rule was they had received a bad report about irresponsible dog owners not picking up after their dogs, however does the manager honestly think that these dog owners will pick up just because they are made to keep their dogs on a lead. This action spoiled a holiday for myself, wife and 2 grandchildren, do I think he will lose sleep over it no I don't but we will thank you so much I just hope that the other c&c managers remain pleasant and helpful and do not make judgment on the innocent.

We've just come back from our first trip to Dunbar and I can safely say it won't be our last! A wonderful site with friendly, helpful staff and the best view EVER. We were given a choice of pitches and then the manager took us to what he thought we would like and he wasn't wrong. Wonderful view of Dunbar and Bass Rock. Thoroughly recommended.

The big downside of this site is the lack of access to the beach. You can see the sea but can't get to it unless you drive into Dunbar or take a long walk. I realise that this is not the fault of the camp site but due to the golf club refusing access across their land.
If you stay at this site, try to request a pitch on the upper field. The lower pitches are further from the toilet block, do not have as good a view of Bass Rock and tend to get flooded. I think that the whole site is prone to flooding though. The showers and toilets are fine and appear to be new. Staff are friendly and helpful. The eggs from the shop are good and you can pre order a newspaper.

First time out .the site was clean well run and a warm welcome.we chose a pitch overlooking the sea .the weather was mixed but it did not spoil the visit. the showers were excellent .Only down side about Dunbar the area (not the site ) .every were we wanted to park we could not!! ,because all the car park spots had hight restriction barriers, so the motor home could not go anywere

We had booked a grass pitch with electric but as we were staying 9 nights the warden recommended a hardstanding, and we were so pleased he did; the view was terrific. A shame there is no direct route down to the sea but the site has no control over this. A visit to Bass rock from North Berwick is a must if you get there before the end of August. Site facilities spotless. Dog walk very good, unfortunately there are some dog owners who just refuse to clear up after their dog. A very good fish and chip take away/restaurant open till 9pm in Dunbar.

Large site with great views of Bass rock. Arrived and greeted by friendly welcoming staff who directed us to our pitch. Large spacious pitch however, drainage was extremely poor and due to the volume of rain our awning had a swamp below. The neighbouring pitch had no problems with drainage. Our only real disappointment was the lack of a play park for our 8 year old, and the closure of the toilet block 10:30 till 12:00 for cleaning, yes the family room is available but this often had a queue. Be warned no direct access to the beach from park.

Any pre-conceptions about the locality of the Cement works and Power station is totally unfounded, they are hidden away making the site a marvellous place to spend 10 lovely days.
All pitches are looking out to sea and Dunbar town is very picturesque.
This site is a credit to the managers and I would not hesitate to return again in the future.

Although seasoned campers first time with our wee T@b caravan so bit nervous...friendly welcome reassured us! We have never seem such clean loos...you could eat your dinner off the chemical waste...well done guys, it is appreciated! Having gone out for lunch the wind picked up and our awning had come away from rail, but warden was soon there to say he had been keeping an eye out. Lovely location and view, only criticism would be due to exposed nature of site wind can be a bit wild but still quite new site do trees etc all need to grow a bit fir shelter. All in all lovely quiet site...keep up the good work! A happy camper!

This was out first visit to Dunbar. We found the toilets and showers on the site to be very clean and of a very high standard.
The site itself is on three levels. We would recommend if you have a tent that you try and get a pitch on the lower level, as this can be a very windy site. When we arrived there was only two pitches left on the high level and we had a real problem pitching our tent due to the strong wind. I would go as far too say that the pitches on the upper level are just not suitable for tents.
The area itself roundabout is lovely with some nice places for families to vist and some nice fishing spots nearby.

Excellent location with good facilities. A 15 min walk, short bike ride or jump in the car and you on the beach.
Walk the John Muir Way into Dunbar and beyond onto cliff walk and then the massive open beach where swimming and surfing are popular.
Visit the harbour and spot the seals.
Take the regular train from Dunbar to Edinburgh, it takes only half hour and takes you direct to the city centre.

This was our first trip with a recently purchased second hand caravan. The site staff were very helpful expecially when the awning blew down during the night !! The views are spectacular and the site very well cared for. Not far from Dunbar for shopping etc although we didnt venture far from the site. We had our dogs with us. The dog walking area was a delight. Thanks for a very enjoyable first of many outings.
