Lovely site - this was my first time and the staff were very helpful and friendly. I was offered a quieter pitch away from the families and children without asking. The dog walk is lovely and you can go as far or as near as you want as it extends into woodland. We saw red deer on our first day. All the facilities were clean and I liked the cloths hanging by the washbasins so that spills and drips could be cleaned up keeping everything dry and clean. Found that my sat nav didn't agree with the postcode which caused a bit of confusion returning one night. I will visit again.

have been to this site several times over the last 35 years. was VERY disappointed with the new "hard" stands, loose gravel is not my idea of a hard stand, espically when the type used will never in a month of Sundays compact. To get onto the pitch was a feat, even the motor mower could not cope with the steep incline, I did not expect to have to man handle the van on to the pitch, no wonder the site guy disappeared very quickly once he had shown us the pitch. The sites are now so small that you can not get a car on the pitch if you have an awning and the slopes each side of the pitch is so great that you are in danger of falling off. If you go in the rain take you water wings, you will need them. If these are "improvements" give me what it was before.

This newly-refurbished site is well worth a visit. Lots of new hard standings, tarmac site roads, a new reception building, and a brand new facilities block which is modern, spacious and spotlessly clean. Very helpful and friendly staff, and a beautiful area to explore.

One of our favourite sites, stayed four or five times so far. There is always a friendly welcome from all staff. The site is even better now, following the recent improvements. The staff are always busy keeping the site clean & tidy. The new shower blocks are 1st class and are available for use at any time of the day. We always have a lovely peaceful holiday here and it's a great base. There's a dog walk into the woods, which are great to explore. We will definitely be back next year. Many thanks.

We've just returned from 5 days staying at the Verwood Club Site and it was great. The whole site has been remodenised. Everywhere was new and spotlessly clean, staff were friendly and on arrival they showed us what pitches were avaliable and let us choose where we wanted to stay. We stayed over on the far side of the site and would choose there again as the noise from the road along the near side would distract from what is a very peaceful site. The new childrens play area was not open but looks great and would be open any day soon. The dedicated dog walk was beautiful, walking up through the woods amongst thounsands of bluebells. The site is a good base to travel around and see the surrounding sights/areas. We'll be returning again next year for sure.

Come back from a three night stay at the site. very very clean. we went with a disabled friend and the facilities were easy to access. the rec room could do with a bit more in it and the park was'nt finished but that did'nt matter because we had fun on our flicker scooters racing down the hill. very friendly staff site shop well stocked up with a morrisons down the road. if you play golf there is a golf course over the road. very happy campers lots to do with pool table in the rec room :)

The site had just opened after refurbishment through the winter, the rec room hadn't opened yet but the site was superb. The nearest pub 'the Albion' was really friendly and reasonable food, if staying in a tent park well away from the roadside, there are plenty of far better locations further into the site. Bring your golf clubs as thre is a good club dirctly opposite the site. All told a good HQ for visiting local area.

All areas of the site were very clean, lovely hot showers that dont keep stopping like some sites!Easy to find and good roads not too many traffic hot spots. You can hear some road noise in the bottom field but we didnt find it too obtrusive.Good for Bournemouth, Christchurch, Weymouth, New Forest. We will be returning again soon.

Site quiet if located away from the road (road is busy).
Hardstandings desperately in need of updating, not in good condition at all.And be aware if it rains heavily, you will end up with a swimming pool. Pitch sizes are quite small and you can feel crammed in when site is busy.
Toilets clean and adequate, but desperately need updating and are really under pressure at peak times.
Top field very quiet, bottom field can be noisy.
Area beautiful, plenty to see and do, lovely walking from the site, and if the club spend some money on it we will return but not till then.

Having visited this site twice this summer we have found it to be an excellent place to stay. My husband and I stayed in a tent with our daughter aged 8 who loved the space to run around and we felt it was quite safe for her to do so. There is a small children's play area where the kids tend to congregate and chat. However by 9.00pm this area was clear with most children returning to their tents/caravans and so there was a minimum amount of noise at night. Infact by 10pm the campsite generally was quiet enabling an early night for those who wished.
The facilities were plentiful with 2 shower/toilet blocks and always kept stocked of toilet paper and very clean. The same can be said for the washing up facilities too and there was always plenty of hot water. Each shower block (ladies) had a hairdryer which cost 20p and the laundry room had a washing machine, tumble dryer and an iron/ironing board. Frozen blocks for cool boxes could be rented from reception for a small charge and a deposit.
If you have children a visit to Moors Valley Country Park near Ringwood is a great day out with play parks, tree top walk, a lake, miniature steam train and a lovely restaurant.
All in all a great place to stay if you enjoy peace and quiet with great amenities.

A lovley site and a pleasant welcome by the staff. we were given plenty of room around our van and the kids loved it. The local pub is 1/2 a mile down the road and the meals are brilliant, the swan near morrisons offers 20% off to C&CC members but the quality of food is not that good. The site is 15 miles from Bournmouth and Sailsbury with plenty of places to visit. we had a great two weeks with our 6yr old daughter and 14yr old son. If I had one complaint it would be that there is only one washing machine for a large busy site. Great site and would recommend it.

Just returned from a fantastic week at this site, could not have asked for a more pleasant area to stay, an ideal place for exploring Dorset & Hampshire, with the New Forest on your doorstep. Yes, the shower and toilet blocks may be dated, but are more than adequate with a constant supply of hot water, the on site shop has all you need and the village has Tesco, COOP and a large Morrisons to get all your supplies for your stay. Only 2 moans really. One being from an inconsiderate family who allowed their 2 noisy children to play on the park at 06.00! and the torrential downpour that occured on Thursday morning (not that it was the campsite fault) Will definately be returning in the future, my advice.... give it a look!!

Well, after reading other reviews about the site, I was fairly confident that it was going to be a good holiday. We had booked five nights camping on a non electric pitch. We have camped before, but never on this site, and never in high season. From the moment we arrived we were impressed. We got there two hours before check in time, but were allowed to pay in advance for our pitch, and were given a list of places and directions to get to local shops, so that we could get some breakfast.
When we returned at midday, we were walked through the site, and given a number of pitches to choose from. The man explained that the playground area could be quite noisy, so we pitched a bit further up, by the dog walk.
Shower and toilet facilities, although old were mega clean, and totally adequate for our needs. The shop stocked local produce and I highly recommend the sausages! The fish and chip van came on tuesday, and the food was GORGEOUS!
On the last day, after packing up, we had a flat battery in the car. This did not cause an issue, as the site manager came to our aid with jump leads, and his little tractor!
By far the best holiday myself, my partner and my eleven year old son have had camping! Well done Verwood, we will be back next year!! Xx

Lovely site - clean facilities, but dated as has been previously stated. Staff were very helpful and friendly; working hard to keep everything running smoothly. Tents are sited around the kids' playground - small but sufficient. Chip van has EXCELLENT food, but be prepared to wait a long time while everything is freshly prepared. A lovely quiet site, close to the New Forest. Downside - you can't have a walk straight from the site. If walking in the forest is your bag, try the moorland at South Gorley - just over the Fordingbridge road - lovely and full of New Forest ponies and picnic sites!

Verwood is everything I would expect from a club site, friendly staff, eager to make our stay as pleasant as possible, a well stocked shop and good facilities. The toilets and showers are described in other reviews as being in need of upgrade, don't let that put you off, they are very clean and have instant hot water, they are fit for purpose plentiful, with several shower blocks.
The area for tents is large and has many very flat pitches, with a children's play area in the middle. There is a B road running along the edge of the site, the road noise is minimal and didn't spoil our sleep.
Verwood is a lovely site and I'll definitely visit again.

As long term members we did what we always do: Decide where to go on holiday then book the nearest club site. After settling on Dorset and booking Verwood I read some reviews and was getting worried about comments regarding the facilities and the road noise. Needn't have worried - the facilities were perfectly fine and adequate and as always squeaky clean, including the disabled facility I used with my young son. The team was lovely as always and the site beautiful and peaceful with amazing views from the tent. We were given a choice of pitches - the team had made careful note of the fact that our son is disabled and had been thinking ahead how they could best help which is amazing! We will be back for another holiday. I do think that the Verwood section on the website could do with some more photos to show it off more.

We really enjoyed Verwood, it was central to the coast and the forest. We particularly wanted somewhere to walk our boisterous black Labrador where he could cool off in a river and the country park nearby was perfect. A nice clean site with friendly staff and decent sized grass pitches. Toilets, showers and washing facilities are good.
The main downside for us was the noise from the road. It is no good having grass pitches for tents where there is a persistent row from trucks, cars and unsilenced motorbikes ect. It would be better if the hard-standing pitches were by the road, as with a caravan or motor-home you could at least shut the noise out.
This was a shame, because in general its a nice place... but not for tents on the road side of the site.
The Albion pub down the road serves excellent food and the beer is good. I have two children, we went to Splashdown waterpark and the Heavy horse sanctuary just down the road, both of these were fun and they enjoyed it.
We stayed for three days, if you were there longer with children it may involve a lot of driving as most of the attractions in Dorset are more on the South West side. You will notice that when you look at the Dorset attractions flyer available in the site office. This has money off vouchers so look out for that.
In summery, I would go there again if I was guaranteed to be away from traffic noise, but only for a short break.

We enjoyed our stay here. The facilities although not the most modern were clean and we never had to queue for washing up, showers etc with plenty of hot water to hand.
Most pitches were slightly sloping but we were not really bothered by this and the units were fairly well spread out despite the site being pretty much full. We were quite near to the road and play area. The road noise only really bothered us for a night or two (it is a fast and quite busy road) but children were out playing at the playground until dusk which was late as it was June. However, the site accommodated us very efficiently next to other family members as we had requested at booking which was brilliant.
All in all a good stay, although we felt that the location was not as rural and special as many other Club sites. The New Forest is a good twenty-five minutes drive away as is Bournemouth but there is a lot to do for families in the area.
I would especially recommend the Moors Country Park with Play trail and narrow gauge railway. The Heavy Horse Centre was great too. A beautiful evening at Hengistbury Head with grandparents' dogs was superb as was the price of cycle hire for an afternoon in Burley, brilliant for pony spotting. The children enjoyed Splashdown in Poole, but I would advise arriving before the crowds. Bournemouth was lovely too as we were entertained by the New Forest Dixieland Band and the crazy golf.

If you have children be careful before you decide to book this site. Our child was 6 at the time and enjoyed hiding behind trees and jumping out to look for baddies!! Even though he did this on his own nowhere near anyones unit or car he got told off by the owners, which upset him (we could see him from our unit). When I complained it was a case of tough luck! Camping certainly isn't the same anymore. Its a shame because its in a beautiful part of the country which we visit often. We won't visit this site again as it wasn't children friendly.

This was our first trip as Club members to any Club site and we had mixed feelings. Initially we had booked for four nights but had to abort our holiday after only two nights as a bought of extreme hay-fever rendered sitting in a field a miserable experience. We have tried to not let this disappointment cloud our judgement for this review.
That said, however, based on previous limited non-club camping experiences, the site seemed very crowded (perhaps this is normal?) and we felt rather hemmed in when in our tent. The site staff were friendly and welcoming and the full facilities made for reasonable comfort although they really do need a major overhaul - this seems like a common criticism on many Club sites, not just this one - we have to ask why isn't it being addressed? All the facilities were clean and usable, just about ten years past due for renovation in our view.
The walks locally were good and many things to do nearby it seems. The site is close to outside amenities and shops and a little too close to the main road for our liking, with traffic noise audible at night in a tent. The pitches we saw mainly seemed to slope, something else to note for tent campers.
In all, a reasonable stay but as new members to the Club and the Club camping scene in particular we were a little underwhelmed at the experience and not sure really what the membership offers other than slight discounts, but we will give it another go later in the year.

This was our first time out in our campervan, and it was wonderfully peaceful. We had a great time, in a clean, friendly, well looked after site. our dog enjoyed the forest walks, however, if you intend to walk to the shops in Verwood, beware of the roads from the campsite, as there are no footpaths, and the traffic is fast. bicycle hire would be very helpfull, for those who didn't take their own (like me). Apart from that small thing, we will visit this campsite again, and would reccomend it to anyone.

This is a lovely site, with a couple of reservations. 1, Where is the recycling. I thought we were meant to be going green. 2, The facilities are a little tired and in need of updating but throughly clean. 3, The exit gate is a lttle tight with a caravan if something was trying to get in at the same time. 4, As a former tenter, there is not a huge range of flat pitches. The wardens are so friendly here and this was our second stay in 10 months and love the waking and cycling nearby. The site is so peaceful but it is a great shame that the efforts of the wardens are slightly undermined by the lack of repairs carried out during the months of winter closure. The drain for motorhome dump of grey water was broken and the showers were in need of updating or repairs - this level of repair required at the beginning of the season does not do the site justice. The wardens are very friendly and very welcoming.

We stumbled on this site some years ago after a very traumatic stay at another site close by. The site managers went out of their way to accommodate us at a very busy time of year, and we have been there every year since, both as a couple and now with our children. Lovely site but like many other comments...IT IS IN SEVERE NEED OF UPGRADING!!! Come on Camping and Caravanning Club, your managers work tirelessly keeping this place as clean as possible, but theres only so much they can do. Its time to invest in this little gem of a campsite and bring it into the twentieth century. That being said, we will still be back again this year, loaded with plenty of towels and carrier bags for the showers. Its perfectly located for many beachs, walking, cycle routes, horse riding, golf etc and their are some smashing places to eat in verwood itself as well as several take aways that deliver to your tent, crackin!!!

The owners & workers were really helpfull as we are fairly new to camping, they lent us some proper groud pegs and a step to get in the trailer. We have 2 kids and there was,nt really any young kids on site and the play area only had a slide 1 baby & 1 child swing. It maybe a bit quite for familys with young kids.

As with many other comments here, we drove straight past it and took a scenic detour - it could do with a BIG sign. Found the facilities perfectly good but old-fashioned, and were told the whole toilet block is going to be demolished and upgraded soon.
Overall the experience was very enjoyable.

This was our second visit to Verwood, and I still love this site. I like the fish and chip night and the fact that the site shop supports local business by stocking local produce.
My only issue is that the toilet facilites, although clean, are in desperate need of updating. I know there was talk of it a few years ago, but now think it needs to be a priority. I know the boiler had to be repaired twice during our weeks stay!
Despite this it's a well placed site and fantastic for families like ourselves with young children. Will go back again.

First stayed here beginging of sept. staff very friedly and welcoming.one shower block is quiet old,but was nice to be able to control temp myself. all showers and toilets very well kept.stayed in lower field near play area, which slopped a lot, had problems getting tv signal, and was not well lit,but went back twice more in the lower middle area, which was much better.dog walking area outside site was very good.would not recommend walking on main road as no paths. sat nav took me straight to site, there is a sign just after golf club which is on your left, but if you miss site entrance the road narrows after site entrance,so difficult to turn round.all in all a nice site will be back again in 2011

This was our second visit to Verwood; the first was last year and I am ashamed to admit I didn't leave a review.
What a lovely site, so peaceful and informal, yet very well organised. Nothing was too much trouble for the site management; special thanks to Wendy and Kev. We even had assistance with internet searches for our needs.
The site is beautifully maintained. There are water supplies and waste water disposal points a-plenty. Deserving special mention is the clean chemical disposal with a handy tap/hose for rinsing out the cassette while doing the 'man' work (sorry girls - I know those of you on your own also do this - no offence meant!!)
Toilets/showers/washing/washing up facilities all first class, scrupulously clean. Although our caravan has its own shower, I could tell from washing my hands occasionally that there is a plentiful supply of hot water.
Local amenities are excellent, including the nearby Morrisons and Swans pub with discounted meals. Not walking distance, but near enough for a short drive. We are no strangers to the area, and there are so many attractions within reasonable travelling distance, that not only will we be back next year, I reckon we will be staying in the area for many years to come and still not run out of places to go.
Only one tiny downside, not the fault of the site owners/wardens; the brown sign for the campsite is partly covered by foliage. Our visit last year with the folding camper on included a 10 mile detour as we were heading for the spot shown on our quick look at the Google map and the postcode comes up a bit of a distance up the road and I caught sight of the entrance out of the corner of my eye, too late....Anyone heading there without knowing this, when coming up from Verwood take care once past the Crane Valley Golf Club - clearly there on the left - Verwood C & CC site is the immediate next on the right.
The site is a credit to the club
Happy camping!!

The site is ideally located for the new forest, and coastal towns. the facilities were clean and plenty of them. the information provided on arrival about the local area was excellent. the lighting over night was good for those bathroom trips. A very pleasant well looked after site.
