It is the perfect base for enjoying the area with its golden Cotswold-stone architecture and it is within striking distance of both Cheltenham and Stratford-upon-Avon. Just arrived back from a 2 night stay at Winchcombe. We were made very welcome and the hosts were very accommodating. The showers and toilets were exceptionally clean which can't be easy when fully booked so all credit them.
A couple of negatives though - push buttons in showers only lasted about 30 seconds - it would be nice to not have to stand pressing the button all the time when washing your hair.
Also the road along side the site is very busy day and night and the sound of the traffic carried across the field which woke us up more than once.
I would go back again because it was a lovely place to stay - maybe take ear plugs with me next time!

Stayed for three nights at this site part with the photo group part on our own. The staff running this site are all first class and run a great little site very clean and pleasant so many thanks guys.
Some nice walks direct from the site all on farm land. The small lake on site adds to the attraction so does the well equipped toilet block. Quiet spot so a good nights sleep is always on the cards.

Excellent site with excellent hosts.
just go to meet the hosts they are wonderful.
Toilets and showers are superb.
A true credit to the hosts and staff.
Games room for all.
Will certainly go back
Local pub the gardeners Arms well worth a visit.
Have just spent a very pleasant week at Winchcombe. The staff are so cheerful and nothing is too much trouble. They keep a very clean site and keep the grass well cut. Will definitely be there next year.
Just go there, it's a wonderful place. If you don't go for the site then just go to meet the people who run it, Ian and Sue i believe and the others. They are just wonderful people and can't do enough for you.
Facilities are so clean and modern. It was a treat for us to be there.
Games room on site for the kids and the Gardeners Arms about a mile away.
Go and enjoy the experience, we did.
The staff should be proud of themselves.

This was our first break away in our new motorhome. On arrival at site we were greeted by the friendly warden who, in an unexpected downpour lent my husband a waterproof jacket and took the time to escort him around the site, explaining the motorhome service point and which pitch he thought would be suitable for us. The site grounds, toilet/shower block and reception were immaculate. Having been caravanners for many years this is one of the best sites we have visited. We have already booked our return visit in a few weeks time.
Another Xmas break at WInchcombe which was 1st class as always at WInchcombe. A special thank you to Sue Ian and Keith for their help this year with their help in our 'time of need'
We have now moved in ! We will be back for a more relaxing break later in the year.
DATE STAYED: December 2012
Have just arrived home from our 1st trip in our Motor Home 23rd-25th November 2012.
We purchased a Motor home last week and join the club, (we used to caravan 1977-1985.)
We chose a site just a couple of hours away from home for out 1st trip and to learn the ropes.
We chose Winchcombe as it opens all year and easy to get to via M4/M5.
We were more than surprised at the very warm welcome we received on arriving and being shown (even thought it was pouring of rain) to our pitch. Sue had to help me plug in the electrics even though I have practiced at home in the drive ( the flip lid only goes back 45 degrees not 180 )
The biggest surprise was the cleanness of the facilities, they was spotless..
If this is the standard of all the sites then my wife and myself we be motor homing most weeks of the year.
We had a lot of rain last night and the lake was bigger this morning than when we went to bed.
I am still not use to being wave at by other motor home drivers but I am sure I will catch on..
Thank ‘s to all the Winchcombe Staff.

Superb site which is really well looked after by the friendly and helpful wardens. Good, clean facilities with a centrally heated facilities block - essential in November! Little touches like the hand wash at the chemical disposal point very welcom. Lovely scenery and local towns with easy access to a number of walks in the surrounding Cotswolds. Possibly the best dog walk area (10 acre fenced field!) we have come across at any site we have visited. The fishing pool with resident waterfowl at the centre of the site provides a nice focal point. Looking forward to a return visit.
SUITABLE FOR: Families,Older couples,Active break,Peaceful break,Younger couples
An excellent site, well managed and cared for by the wardens - who adopt a very realistic approach to making sure the site works for everyone. They reflect totally the ethos of the Club - Friendly!
Local Pub offers a benefit / discount whilst you are resident at site - only thing was I did as instructed and showed membership card on arrival and then assumed a discount would be applied - it wasn't! Never mind, have to try again next visit!
SUITABLE FOR: Families,Older couples,Active break,Younger couples
Arrived Sat 27 Oct for 1/2 term with other members of family. Greeted by very friendly/efficient wardens who had accommodated our request to sited in close proximity to each other. Unfortunately due to the weather the site ground was at saturation point and a couple of further heavy downpours had no where to go making many pitches waterlogged/flooded. An excellent site for exploring the Cotswolds and it is regretful that the club will not spend any money filling in the 35+ potholes (which get worse after every rainfall) on the main roadway. Added to this the fact there is no lighting ...a few members tripped/fell into these holes at night. When asking the Assistant Warden if they had some gravel to fill in these holes, he replied by saying the club will not spend any money on the roadway. He added that they have requested several times for lighting and road repairs but to no avail. I fear it will take a broke bone/litigation to remedy this...come on club spend some money on this site..

Wonderful reception Bank Holiday Week. Had booked too small a pitch and manager lovley, not cross, and found us one whihc was to his disadvantage for later bookings! Went home day early -awful storms and they phoned us to say they had just missed us and was everything OK!Treated like royalty!

We arrived here after a good journey from Yorkshire at lunchtime. The wardens were on duty and soon had us on a wonderful pitch overlooking the fishing lake. This is fenced so no danger. The dog walk was a bit muddy but arn't they all at this time of year. all other facilities were spotless and warm. We would certainly recommend Winchcombe for touring the Cotswolds. Only downside for hubby was we had to get in the car to go to the nearest pub!
SUITABLE FOR: Families,Older couples,Peaceful break,Younger couples
Arrived on the Friday for a Birthday weekend with two other friends. We were given the warmest welcome and shown to our pitch. The views were fantastic and the dog exercise areas were basic to us two legged beings but amazing to our four legged friend. The staff were there when we needed them but blissfully left us to enjoy our break. The site was immaculate and we found nothing to fault. The local pub was a short walk off trek and welcomed our pets. As it was the end of the season we were told there was no rush to leave which gave us another "day" to our break. We will definitely be back and would recommend this site to all. Thank you for a wonderful Birthday.
Arrived on the Sunday lunch time to find the reception locked and no one around. After 5 mins one of the staff turned up and said that he would be a couple of minutes which he was. A swift booking in then off to the pitch following a happy chappie on his bike. All the rules and facilities where explained to us in a very clear and happy manner. We got the tent pitched and decided to have a walk around site to see what was what. Afterr a walk through other pitches we found the only toilet block at the top end of the site.
Thought about fishing (had brought maggots with me) only to find out that you had to pay to fish (no mention of this on the web site) even though the fishing was for residents only. Once ight fell it was very hard to see around site as there was no lighting on the road and as mentioned before no layout to footpaths and had to walk through other pitches.
The site could do with an extra toilet block at the bottom end and designated footpaths that are lit.
We have been members of the Caravan Club for a while but earlier this year having perused the web site, I joined the club. We tested the club out when we arrived at lunch time on a hot, sweltering day with a caravan and a motor home in front of us and we partially blocking the access with our Bailey Olympus 2. 530/4. Despite the air con in the car we were hot and bothered but the Winchcombe staff epitomised the 'cool/ cucumber. Firstly a fellow in a red jersey guided me (Sue) as I was in the driving seat for this final stretch, forward so I was not obstructing traffic despite I was now positioned ahead of the other two vehicles. He then spoke with the owners of the other two vehicles like a diplomatic corps veteran. The booking staff had us all booked in in double quick time with a smooth efficiency we'd not previously encountered and then the staff offered us a choice of pitch. We opted for a lakeside pitch and a staff member, despite the obvious pressure, smoothly guided us in to a delightful spot.
The level of personal attention in difficult circumstances was above and beyond the call of duty. In terms of the vernacular we were; "Gob Smacked". We'll certainly be back. Meanwhile we've just swopped our Olympus for a new Bailey unicorn pamplona, and will be trying out other sites over the winter. God bless all at Winchcombe and if other sites prove as friendly as Winchcombe staff we'll be booking a lot more sites for a mega holiday next spring and Summer.
SUITABLE FOR: Peaceful break
Ended up here at the last minute but so glad we did. Site team did a great job keeping the place clean and tidy. Very peaceful (apart from the odd combine harvester) - our pitch backed onto the small lake. Dog walk is excellent apart from having to walk through caravans to get into it. There is also a separate field for exercising your dog - brilliant! Will definitely go back.
What a great site. All staff so firendly and helpful. Really generous pitches. Would definately come here again. Really handy for NT properties as well as places such as Cheltenham, Stowe, Bourton etc. A fabtastic Cotswold site. Farmer harvesting was a bit noisy but, hey, it has been a tough year for them and he needed to take advantage of the sunny (yes sunny) weather. You need to put this site on your 'must visit' list.
All the wardens were superb.Well done to you all. The campsite was managed wonderfully. The lake was well stocked...13 fish in 1 hour!
Winchcombe campsite is ideal for the beautiful Cotswold towns & villages etc.
We certainly want to return!
DATE STAYED: July 2012
We've just come back from a fantastic week, even the weather behaved itself, the staff are fabulous, the Managers left on the Monday to oversee an Olympic site for 5 weeks, but not before doing all she could to help me find a B&B for a family member who wanted to join us, so helpful nothing was too much trouble. The site is so well kept and the fishing lake was a hit with our daughter, who caught the biggest fish!! Only one thing to mention, is there is only one chemical waste point at the top of the site, so a long walk for the hubby! But all round Great site great location, we will be back x
The site staff were vrry helpful and nothing was too trouble. The facilities were clean & modern. Th dog walking facilities were second to none.
SUITABLE FOR: Families,Peaceful break
Loved this site! Wardens were the friendliest we have met! Had a lovely pitch with a great view. We are going back in Summer holidays to take grandson and meet up with daughter who will be camping with us. Definitely going back lots of times.
DATE STAYED: May 2012
The staf at this site know how to go to the extra mile so efficient & friendly nothing is too much trouble.Good fishing lake. Fish & chip van comes around twice a week if you dont want to cook.Beautiful location ideal for all places of interest around the cotswolds.will be going back.
Arranged a stop-over at short notice over the phone and Sue was extremely helpful. We were accompanied to our hard-standing and made to feel very welcome. At 5 o'clock, tea-time we were visted by about twenty ducks who almost wanted to get into the motorhome for tea with us! The wildlife here is great to watch, ducks, coots, rabbits etc. The lake is peaceful and lovely to stroll around. We were so taken with the site we extended our visit for another four days. A small but handy shop, very clean showers and toilets, great play area for kids and even a games room for when the weather is wet. An excellent attitude by the park rangers. I can highly recommend this site.
DATE STAYED: June 2012
We had the best 8 days at Winchcombe!!!!! Although it was more or less full it was a very quiet site, lovely and clean, staff very friendly, exc.clean dog walks, lovely fishing lake, showers and toilets were spotless, roomy sites. It is a site we will return to.
I'd read the other reviews and was expecting something out of this world so I guess I was a bit disappointed but actually it did do everything it 'said on the tin' so I can't complain. The welcome we got was second to none and it was amazing to be greeted by name each time I saw the chap who had checked us in. The parent and child room was really handy and everyng was so clean. The pitch was absolutely huge and luckily the tent survived the afternoon storm which left a moat of water around us. To be honest we chose a few days of dreadful weather which did dampen our spirits a bit but the site was fine, just a long way from any civilisation. The shop was a bit basic (especially after the last place we stayed where there was freshly baked bread) but given the space they had a good stock of stuff. My daughter enjoyed the play area and met new friends so if she was happy then so was I. Next time I think I'd plan my wet weather strategy better but this was no fault of the campsite, purely my thinking that June would be hot and sunny!
We had a wonderful Jubilee 4 night stay at Winchcombe. To which we participated in The Guiness World Record Attempt a wearing Crowns.....and the 108 of us that joined in at Winchcombe helped break the record! :)
From the moment we arrived to the moment we left the staff were excellent.
As our caravan was fitted with a mover we were given a pitch next to the lake & we were able to pitch A frame towards the lake which was a wonderful view.
This site is a gem in the crown of the Diamond Jubilee and we will definantly return to Winchcombe again. : )
A lovely site which is well kept and thoughtfully presented. Nice local walks for dogs.
Site spoilt only by a slight amount of road noise.
SUITABLE FOR: Older couples
Arrived on a very hot Friday evening with a hot and bothered 8 yr old in tow! Reception staff VERY helpful and got shown to pitch in minimal time. Information on shops was readily available and extra directions given if you needed them. The grounds and pitch were immaculate and are a credit to the site staff, who obviously work very hard to maintain a VERY high standard. Chemical toilet facilities are the best we have encountered so far at any site. They were spotless, not smelling (despite hot weather) and had sanitising soap and hand drier available to clean up afterwards. Showers were amazing, can not fault them anywhere. Our son had a great time playing and investigating the lake (which he wants to fish on the next visit). However, the only slight grumble we would have would be to have a zip wire or similar for the older children to play on and interact. Overall, an excellent site and will definately be visiting again.
very friendly welcome from all the staff and nothing was too much trouble . site and facilities were spotless. recommed trying the fish and chips cooked fresh on site twice a week. lots of places to visit
in the area will definitely return again plenty more to see and do.
DATE STAYED: April 2012
Very friendly welcome; we arrived late and this was remarked upon but in a friendly way. We were then offered a choice of pitches and a free upgrade which was most welcome.
Facilities are spot on.
We stayed just 2 nights, and did some great walking straight off the campsite on day 1. We wanted to not drive anywhere and to be honest that would have been difficult had we stayed longer...it is very secluded.
If you want fishing on your doorstep - literally - this is the site for you.; If you want to park up and walk to different villages over a number of days, you will struggle. Somewhere to read a long book perhaps?
SUITABLE FOR: Families,Older couples,Active break,Peaceful break
We made an error with our online booking. The site Managers found us a suitable pitch against the odds. They went out of their way to sort out my mistake with no fuss and a big smile.
Thank you all, exceptional customer service.
Local pub Gardeners Arms, very friendly & excellent food.
We have just returned from our second visit to this great site, and can thoroughly recommend it. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and we came away with wonderful memories. The site is spotless and well maintained and we look forward to another trip there soon.
Having been a member for 25 years and used over 25 of the club sites,I believe this to be the best one of all. The location is rural, the surrounding towns and villages are accessible. The site is maintained to the very highest club standard for which Sue,her partner and team should be commended. It doesn't end with a sincere and warm welcome but extends to practical help and guidance thoughout the stay. Exceeds expectations! Thanks. TG

This site sets the standards as far as we were concerned. All of the Site Team were exceptional and the cleanliness was outstanding. It's a convenient location for exploring the Cotswolds, Gloucestershire and into Herefordshire or to just sit by the central lake and enjoy the peace and quiet. We will certainly return for more long weekends at Winchcombe
This site had all we wanted for a Christmas /new year break
The site staff were five star in all
aspects of their positions.
The ammenities were second to none and if wer were in the position of awarding stars it would be five stars for every
DATE STAYED: December 2011
Stayed over new year , one of the best sites I have stayed on . Wardens extremely helpful and friendly .Ideally situated to enjoy a number of walks and Cotswolds villagesand the races on New Years Day at Cheltenham was fab.The last night was extremely rough weather but there are !some relatively sheltered pitches which the wardens are happy to let you choose. Some pitches around a small lake which was lovely rather than being a totally open site.Would be great to haveThankyou an extra hoook in the showers for hanging clothes on - seems like a small thing but would make showering easier!Overall a very enjoyable stay and we will certainly return.Thankyou to the wardens
We stayed over New Year 2011/12 with some friends. Plenty of walking and great off road cycling straight from the site. Site was everything we have come to expect from the club. Best ever was the Gardners Arms in Alderton, where we went for NYE. Food was excellent and Wendy the owner, even drove us all back to the site after midnight. A perfect pub in a great location - make it a visit!
Just returned from a lovely overnight break away at this wonderful site and really cannot fault anything about it! It is without a doubt the nicest Camping and Caravan Club site we have stayed at to date and the site managers Sue and Ian and their staff ensure that the reputation of being ‘The Friendly Club’ is upheld to the absolute maximum. We felt extremely welcome throughout our short stay. The site is immaculate and looks inviting even in the middle of winter. The site staff work very hard to keep it looking this way and full credit to them for this. We found the surroundings both stunning and relaxing with the lake being the central focal point. There is some wonderful wildlife and we had ducks coming right up to the motorhome much to our dog’s delight! The site provides a lovely little dog walk and adjacent to the site there are fields where we were able to let the dog off lead for a good old run. The toilet block and washing up area were immaculate. Flowers in the ladies were a nice touch. We didn’t venture out as we were only away for one night but there is a lot to do in the area with plenty of pubs and restaurants and day’s out nearby. The information room and shop were both extremely well stocked. This is truly a 10 out of 10 site and we will definitely return in the future.
I wanted a site that wasnt too far for my first attempt at hitching, towing and setting up a caravan, after reading the reviews I decided on this site & was pleased I did. Being a single, disabled mum with a dog! I called first & they were so reassuring & accomodating before I had even set off (& when got lost on way)They set it all up for me, told me about takeway that delivered & checked we were all ok. TV reception was not very good, if your child has to have TV take DVDs or good aerial, but there's lots to do in the area. Wasn't there long enough to check out all the facilities, but what saw seem good, disabled toilet/shower area was clean. Main thing everybody else agrees with too is the site staff are amazingly helpful & friendly, if like me you are worried as not been caravanning before then this is the place to go. If I can cope with my fear of towing(got better on way back & plan on getting stabilizer bar) I will be back & thanks for pointing out front lights not working & showing me how to do jockey wheel & water heating properly. Attractive convenient site for Cotswolds. Recently visited with motorhome which was new to us having always had a caravan. We had only taken delivery of it the day before and were not given a handbook. We had problems with the electric fire and water heater and the warden who had a similar model could not have been more helpful. Not only did he spend some time trying to locate the right switches for us but he also photocopied his manual for us and during this another warden turned up with a fan heater. Many thanks for help.
Excellent site with friendly helpful staff. It is always a pleasure to stay here. The refurbished facilities are first class.
The site is ideally situated for walkers being on the Winchcombe Way as well as being an easy drive to Cheltenham with it's excellent shopping if that is more your thing.
DATE STAYED: October 2011
We stayed in one of the self catering wooden lodges that are available for hire on the site.
Right from the word go the staff were friendly, helpful and considerate. The facilities at the site are really very good and the lodges were first class! would recommend them to anyone looking for a relaxing break.
First time caravaners :-)
Had a great visit.
Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Site was extremely clean and tidy. Easy access.
Great location for getting out and about. Very relaxing visit, would come again.
I would just like to let you know what a wonderful year we have had camping with the Club. I have taken a year off this year so had lots of camping breaks. We started our adventures in April at Winchcombe and travelled to Corfe Castle from there. We had glorious weather; the scenery was fantastic we visited Swanage and Studland Bay. In May we went to Sandringham, sadly the Queen wasn’t in, the site was set in beautiful grounds, and we visited Brancaster and Huntingham. Later that month we went to Hereford and here we visited The Weir and Symonds Yat. In June we went to Cheddar, Mendip Heights again outstanding views, we visited Glastonbury Tor and Wells. In July we went to Chipping Norton and we went to Cornbury Festival, we have been for the last 5 years, great music and wonderful atmosphere. At the end of the month we went to Veryan, again fantastic weather and views, we visited St Mawes, Falmouth, St Austall, Truro and local villages. We also camped at Bath on our way back to visit our daughter. August we went to Chard, not a club sites, not impressive. In September we went to Delamere Forest, had a lovely time at Chester and exploring the forest. In October we went to Preston, again not a club site, but we wanted to take our daughter to the illuminations .In between all these breaks we have had short stays at our second home Woverley. We would like to say every club site gave us a warm friendly welcome and we will not be going to non club sites next year. We store our caravan at Wolverley and sadly have just put it away for the winter, We would like to give a huge thank you to Carol and Mike Aspery, and their assistants for looking after us and our caravan for the 5th year, always friendly, helpful and welcoming. Looking forward to next season Merry Christmas to those now starting their winter break.
Very satisfied customers

1st visit to this site and very impressed. Hope to come back next Easter. Very clean, very helpful staff, good dog walk and facilities. If you want a big site with lots to do for the kids this is not the site for you but if you want to chill and take in the lovely Cotswolds its great and Central to lots of lovely towns.
Our second visit this year, I wish I could give more than 5 stars for the staff (Sue and Ian especially) In our thirty years of caravaning I have never known more helpful friendly wardens, they really do go the extra mile.
Great site which is kept spotless.
Well done club for choosing five excellent staff
Very nice site, very friendly managers. Cleanliness was excellent. Good size level pitches. My only niggle was the traffic noise.

I stayed at Winchcombe in June and found myself returning again and again. The campsite is beautifully kept, the grounds beautiful and the staff simply wonderful. The situation is charming with fishing on site, walking in the hills and six pubs a short drive away, one is an easy walk across beautiful fields if you want to leave the car behind. This site is perfect for a family holiday base for an active holiday or a quiet weekend. I cannot praise this site highly enough.
DATE STAYED: August 2011
A superb site, very peaceful, clean and tidy and the staff were most pleasant and helpful The only thing that let the site down was the lack of wi-fi. I booked this site because the book said it had wi-fi. It does not cover all the site and I was told it was available in the recreation room but that was closed by 9pm and I really wanted to use my computer in the comfort of our caravan.
WE have used this site 3 times now. We have not had a caravan for long and we had a few problems when we came here last year. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. They really helped us and taught us a lot of things too. Thanks. The staff here this year were brilliant. The sit is beautiful and in a great location to discover the Cotswolds. Close to the Motorway exit as well. It is very quiet. Facilities are excellent in every way. Home from Home!!!! We will be using it again next year. Thanks so much. You are a great team.

stayed at this site staff very pleasent and welcoming had very nice few days on site would highly recomend this site
This is one of the best sites we have been to. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The reception sold a small variety of groceries such as bread and rolls and the information room had a lot of leaflets and info about local pubs and attractions. We had a lovely day visiting the steam railway which is about a 10 minute drive away. We also visited Broadway for lunch which is well worth a visit. The washing facilities were ok, I found them to be a little cold but were clean. They also have a fish and chip van that visits twice a week. We had a lovely pitch by the lake and were asked if we wanted to be by the childrens play area or not which was appreciated. All in all would definitely go back and would recommend.
Winchcombe site was fantastic,Really great for wheelchair users and the Staff really went out of their way to make sure everything was easy for us. The site is set in a secluded tree-filled area with fishing lake on site.
The staff were brill freindly without interfering and everyone of them helped when I needed advice and info. The site is very clean and that is important to me.
Sue (site manager) really went out of her way to locate online a particular store location. All part of the service I guess altho I didn't expect service that good.
TOURING: The Cotswolds are amazing, alovely green calm land with lots of brilliant country towns to explore. I had my fill of charity shops with posh frocks, country clothing stores where I accquired my BARBOUR jacket in the sale and FOOD, Coffee on tap at cosy nooks or established hotels with discerning clients.
THE BEST FISH MEAL (TOP 3RD) in my life and I used to own a little bistro was
THE BUGATTI INN 10 min's drive form the site. The couple are up from Cornwall and Sean and Carol (Wife is Chef) served us up a FRESH FISH meal that we will never forget. It's also very friendly Bar and if I hadn't been worried about reconecting our drive away awning in the dark I would have been persuaded to stay for the quiz, THE PRIZE another FISH MEAL. They do other dishes. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
I will def be using Winchcombe again as so much more to see around the Cotswolds.

We were very warmly welcomed at reception and, although we only stayed 2 nights, the warmth & friendliness of staff was fabulous (even when being followed by our children!!!). The facilties were very clean (showers & dishwashing area). The only aspect we worried about, slightly, was the access to the lake; once the children had discovered how close it was to the tents they wanted to keep going near it & we had to keep going with them for fear of one of them falling in!!! We had a lovely time & would recomend the site to anyone that asked. Thank you x

only stayed 3 nights here but wish could have stopped longer. the site is beautifully kept, showers and toilets are imaculate and the staff are really helpful and friendly. nice play area and games room for children too. shop selling basic items that you might need. some lovely pubs for food within a short distance of the site and would recommend a trip on the Steam train from winchcombe.
will definately be going back.
NB - take rock pegs for awning as i had to buy them on site!
Lovely site one of the best the club has in my opinion, very friendly staff really helpful.
Site is spotless. Could do with more showers
We loved this site from the moment we arrived! The welcome was friendly, relaxed and not without a touch of humour - a natural warmth, just the way a welcome should be. The friendliness of the staff was matched by the beauty of the site which included a large lake with fishing platforms. Immaculate toilets and showers, large pitches, a games room and even a visiting fish & chip van. All that as well as the beauty of the Cotswolds on your doorstep. Brilliant!

this site is the best we have ever stayed at, the staff were so friendly and were soon calling us by our names, the warm and enjoyable welcome from the start was briliant, this seemed to rub off on all the people staying on the site, fishing great, though I did rub in the big tench I caught. we had a wonderful time and will find our way back there again. Thank to all the staff for making our stay so enjoyable
DATE STAYED: June 2011
Just had a great week at this site and it was bliss,it was better than the best review,if you want a camp site in the Cotswolds this is the one ,And the wardens were like family.
MY HUSBAND AND I STAYED FOR WEEKEND,IT IS A LOVELY SITE, SO PEACEFUL,WEATHER WAS WONDERFUL,FISHING ON SITE LAKE A TREAT, MY HUSBAND COMPLAINED OF CATCHING TO MANY FISH ,CAN YOU BELEIVE IT!!ALL STAFF SO FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL OUR BATTERY WAS FLAT ON OUR 4X4 WHEN WE WERE ABOUT TO HOOK UP(MY HUSBAND LEFT DOORS OPEN ALL DAY DUE TO HOT WEATHER NO PROBLEM THOUGH WARDEN GOT US STARTED AND ON OUR WAY,WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND AND WILL BE RETURNING SOON.
Winchcombe is in a beautiful area with lots to see and do. There are some great walks nearby and a fishing lake on site. This site is the best maintained we have been to. The Wardens Ian and Sue and Assistant Wardens Marcus, Lisa and Keith were brilliant, very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them, they really did help to make our stay there very enjoyable. This is a site we intend to visit lots more !
Had a great welcome on arrival. All information that was needed was given. A really nice site that lends itself to visiting the Cotswolds, Stratford, Warwick Gloucester and Cheltenham. Easy access to South Wales. Fish and Chip van visits twice a week. We originally booked for three nights and ended up staying six. The staff are really great and helpful. It is a pity that some campers leave the toilets in such a disgusting state. My sympathies to the staff who have to clean up after them. We will be back! Thanks.
A lovely clean site with great staff who were most helpful. Decent sized pitches, most on hardstanding.
In a very pituresque spot with hills in the distance and a small lake onsite for any fishermen amongst you.
The Winchcombe Way, a 42 mile public footpath is adjacent to the site and the village of Alderton is a 15 minute walk away.
Just cross the road from the campsite and walk down the road to the public footpath which takes you across the fields to the village and the Gardeners Arms with a warm welcome, good food and great beer.
Get a 25% off food voucher from the information area at the campsite before you go.
Also a good central location to explore the Cotswolds.
The only tiny criticism I would have is that 4 mens and 4 womens showers isn't really enough when the site is full like it was when we were there.
Other than that excellent.
In 20 years of being a member this is the cleanest friendliest site we have stayed at.
The facilities are spotlessly clean, the site is maintained to a very high standard and the staff were helpful and friendly.
We would highly recommend this site to anyone.

we have just returned from a fantastic week at winchcombe cccs the weather was great, The welcome when you get to the site is very warm/inviting & informative. The site cleanliness is second to none. All of the staff are very friendly & will do anything they can to help you in any way & always have a smile on their faces & time to say hello/speak to you.Our 2 children had a great time on the site playing on the play area as well as fishing with me while my wife could chill with her book.
The site is only 50 miles from where we live but we felt we were the other end of the country. We would recomend this site to anyone and would like to give a great big thankyou to Sue,Ian,Marcus,Lisa and Keith. Looking forward to going back before the year is over.
Jason, Liane, Elise and Dominic Smith
Lovely, well presented site. All facilities were well laid out and extremely clean. Really friendly staff, very welcoming and helpful to us on our first camping weekend.
Lovely site, warm welcome from very friendly staff. We went on a bank holiday weekend and there were only 2 pitches left but we were very happy with the one we selected. Very peaceful and quiet. Facilities were excellent, very clean. Very secure site. Lovely lake with plenty of room to fish, maybe a few too many trees overhead but apart from that very good. Would definitely recommend and will be booking this one again.
We have just arrived home after a most enjoyable stay at Winchcombe site. Wardens very friendly. Friday night a mini bus was laid on by a local pub, Hobnails in order to go there for a Hog Roast & live music. we had one of their meals instead, which was excellent. A great site to visit.
enjoyed fishing, well stocked lake. Everyone appeared very friendly. Fish and chip van great idea and wemt down well too.
A spur-of-the-moment booking on our way home from Cornwall and what a good choice. Such a friendly reception and a clean pitch to land on. It took us longer than usual to set up because of all the friendly people around to talk to! A 25% discount arranged through the site managers at the Gardeners Arms made a great end to a holiday when you're a bit strapped for cash. We will be back for a longer stay.
We have just had our first camping trip as a family. Our 1 night "practise" was only 20 mins from home but we could have been miles away. A lovely, small site with good facilities and the cleanest toilets! Sue and Ian are fab - extremely welcoming, friendly and made our boys (2 & 6) feel just as important as us parents! The perfect site managers - let's hope we find similar on the rest of our forthcoming holidays! Thank you.
A lovel site, we have a RV and were made welcome, wardens were friendly and helpful and site and all facilities immaculate at all times. A lovley spot
and will return..
having been a member for 4 years this is the first club site ever used, the staff were excellent facilities were very clean, we were slightly disappointed with the fishing but the quality was good, we would recommend the site to anyone
My family and I have just returned from a fabulous 1 night stay at Winchcombe. Although we have been camping for a number of years it was our first night in our new caravan and we chose Winchcombe as our testing site.
Sue and Ian were so helpful and supportive and really do represent everything that you expect from 'The friendly club!'
Thank you soo much and we will be back!
Having just spent a most enjoyable six day break made even better by the hot weather we would like to congratulate the site staff on there friendliness, and the general levels of cleanliness throughout all aspects of the site.
MEMBER FOUND TOWING: Moderate
A very clean site with helpful and friendly staff.
I have just returned from a few days at Winchcombe in the Lodges with my parents and little boy & it was probably the most relaxing short break I have EVER had!! The site staff were fantastic - so helpful and friendly. The site was spotless and my son loved the play area ... it was all so safe & clean. We will be back!!!
Having just joined the c&c club, we thought we would give Winchcome a try for our first trip. The site was excellent, the staff were very helpful. We would have loved to have stayed longer, but spent a relaxing 3 days on beautiful site.We stayed in a lodge next to the lake.
Just got back from this site after taking part in The Hell of The North Cotswolds mountain bike ride
The site is very secure and well looked after and has very good clean facilities with excellent helpful staff who are always keen to help
The site is well laid out with water and waste water facilities all close by
There is a small play area with a couple of swings and a climbing frame and a small goal for kids to play football
The dog walk area is next to the play area but there are plenty of dog waste bins around the site
The only improvement i would make would be for an additional chemical disposal point down the other end of the site as its a fair walk if your down the bottom end, that is not a critisism of the site but it would improve it
Whilst we were there we visited The Gardeners Arms in Alderton which is only 5 minutes away in the car, the pub is lovely and the food was excellent and to make it even better we got a 25% discount voucher from the campsite reception so it was good value as well !!
We will definitely go back
Received the warmest of welcomes here. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Some lovely cross country walks which take you into some quiet Cotswold villages. The sun was blazing the whole weekend we spent there which made the pint in the Gardener's inn even more enjoyable. The site facilities and grounds were spotlessly clean and well kept. Great sit and we will certainly return.
SUITABLE FOR: Families,Active break,Peaceful break,Younger couples
This is the second C&CC site we have stayed on. It was very clean, friendly and well run. I would definatley return. Well done, keep those standards as high as they are!!
This site is absolutely fantastic, everything you’d expect if you’re looking for the great outdoors. All the staff are extremely helpful. We arrived early and the manager asked us about our stay, he then positioned us in the perfect spot. Drive out and explore, pub within walking distance
DATE STAYED: June 2010
Winchcombe is a good well set out site which offers good clean modern facilaties. There are foot paths off the site also short walk around the lake. this site is set in lovely country side but not far from Winchcombe town which offers paper shops, co-op,also tea rooms dress shops and other shops of veriety. Winchcobe caravan & Camping club site is good for a long or short stay near Cheltenham,Gloucester & many small villages. This site has very helpful kind and friendly wardens we will go to this site again.
DATE STAYED: November 2010
A perfect example of the CC&C Club Sites - clean, well maintained and staffed by friendly people.
Have already booked to stay again!
DATE STAYED: August 2010
Fab site beautifully tended. Lovely pond for fishing, wonderful views and loads of wildlife such as woodpeckers, owls, moorhen and plenty of ducks. Site staff couldn't be more helpful they ferried us to and from local garage when our car broke down. Stunning walks and pretty villages right on the doorstep. We will definitely go back!
We have visited this site for the last four years using it as a staging post for transit north to south. Each year the facilities have improved and this year was no exception. There are more hard standings, toilet block refurbished to the highest standards and a new automatic barrier system which is much easier than the old gate. I would recommend this site to anyone who is happy with a site away from the coast. History buffs are surrounded by examples of different periods of our past.
The staff are helpful competent with a pleasant disposition. The only minor criticism is the very limited hours of shop opening.
SUITABLE FOR: Families,Older couples,Active break
Despite the rain we enjoyed the facilities and location and could not fault the site. However we felt that the rules were enforced to the point of being a bit over the top.
SUITABLE FOR: Older couples,Groups,Active break
A lovely welcoming site with fab security (you even need a passcode to access the shower block & toilets). All facilities were spotless and this encouraged campers to clean up after themselves. Helpful and friendly staff. A strict manager with regards to site regulations (but thats not a negative comment). We had a great 5 nights stay here and would certainly return.
