Super site friendly holiday site wardens only trouble was hard stands are like concrete under shingle had trouble getting pegs in very quiet site access road is bumpy and uneven potholes need some attention shame that no papers are available from shop and why were some of wash and shower cubicles shut as they had plenty of staff i can understand that because site was quiet that they only needed one block open but surely open all cubicles.its my favourite site though in east anglia

We enjoyed a wonderful 4 night break at West Runton. The welcome was warm and friendly and the staff remained so throughout our stay. The facilities were clean. The shower block was a little chilly but the water was lovely and warm so a prompt dry and dress solved the problem. The dog walk around the perimeter is one of the best we have come across. The site is a very pleasant walk from both East & West Runton and we also enjoyed a very pleasant walk to Cromer and back. Would recommend a visit to this site and we will definitely be back!

Lovely site, Lovely people.
Very friendly and always smiling.
The campsite was very clean and tidy as were the showers and toilets.
The area is great for exploring or just relaxing.
The only thing I would say about it is that the showers could have been a little hotter for my liking, but that's just because it was March, in summer this wouldn't even be an issue. Either way this didn't ruin my stay in the slightest nor my girlfriends.
Would definitely recommend and will be returning.
Thank you

We have just come back from a fantastic half term break with our young family. The site is fantastic and well worth the slightly scary tow down the narrow dirt road leading down to the site! The facilities were clean and well maintained. We had 3 days out of the week not using the car as the walks were fantastic with 2 really good routes down to the beach that we found, about a 45 minute walk. There is so much to do around here we will definitely be returning.

This is our third visit in four years and the track leading to the site was slightly better, but could still do with more improvement.
I felt the same as another review that the female staff were not that friendly but the male staff very friendly. This site is great for making you feel that you have had a holiday with the most noise coming from the birds. We will be back as Norfolk is always calling us to come back.

Excellent staff.Very friendly.Toilets were very clean and tidy. The only gripe I have is that we were pitched close to the East Block toilets which had a constant hum 24/7,probably from the Air-Conditioning unit. Apart from that we enjoyed our brief stay(3 nights). We would probably visit again, but opt for a pitch not so near to the toilets. The approach to the site is a bit hairy, with a long narrow lane, but with passing places. Best to avoid arriving or leaving around 12 o'clock midday.

Great if you have children who want to meet up and play the day away. all kids congregated on the play area even though it was just one slide and some good climbing trees!" But they all had a great time. 45 mins walk into Cromer. Only 20 mins to West Runton village but traffic appallingonce there. Nothing to do on site but that's fine if you just want to relax and watch the kids play. VERY steep pitches. We had to purchase extra chocks from the site shop at £20 a pair just to get semi-level. 50-50 as whether to go back. Very expensive at £29 per night (and that was with 30% discount. No discount for Cand C Club members though.

Great site, the staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. The facilities were superb. Highly recommended, great area for all sorts of activities The access lane to the site is difficult but still managed it with a large motorhome and trailer. Only downside was that some parents allowed their children to play in and around the toilet blocks in spite of the site staff doing their best to move them on.

our reception was mixed on arrival.the women staff seemed efficent but no real friendliness shown, the men showing us to the pitch were very friendly and one helped me by doing the reversing for me.
The site and facilities were kept brilliantly by the staff team and was well worth the rougth ride in on the entrance lane.. it was busy but the site was silent after 10 at night.the only negative was kids flouted no ball game policy and site staff would wander past not inforcing it.
we addressed it ourselves when a ball hit a neighbouring caravan.we had a dog and she loved it due to the walks to nearby coast.definatly worth a visit if you have a dog or not.

Our second visit to this site. 4 out of 5 for welcome, but rest of time staff were fine, obviously having a bad day when we arrived , problems with credit card machine and a full site. Facilities as good as ever, site immaculately maintained. Reported a dodgy manhole cover and it was sorted almost immediately, thats the sort of thing that impresses me.
Shop / reception could do with enlarging as crowded at times. I agree with most of the reviews on here, but why is the on-site visitors comment book tucked away in the information hut ? Probably 'cause no room in reception and that is why only 3 comments entered this year!
We will return for another relaxing time at West Runton. Thank you.

We first came here about 30 years ago, but this is our first visit for 10 years.
We found the track (alias Holgate Lane) has not improved much! Other that that the site was in good condition, particularly surprising due to the amount of rain since the drought was declared. The facility blocks were excellent, and logically were not both closed at the same time for cleaning.
The staff were friendly and helpful whenever we met them.
The most noise on the site, which was quite busy, came from the birds.
Still as good site.

We booked this site as a last minute option as we were supposed to be going to Keswick, unfortunately they had to cancel us as they were flooded!! What a little gem we came across, we cannot fault this site, the staff were always pottering around somewhere, they kept the facilities clean at all times. The area is beautiful with plenty of walks to near by Cromer or Sheringham. There is a train station in the village too. We was very lucky with the weather. We will definately be going back. :-)

Our second visit to this site and we will be back as there is still so much for us to see and do in this part of Norfolk. We still haven't managed to do all the walks we would like to! The site is beautifully kept and the facilities for cleaning people, dishes and clothes are very good. The staff are more than happy to assist if needed. Buses, trains and shops are all within (reasonably) easy reach of the site. Don't be put off by comments about the access - just enjoy the journey up and down the hill, we saw deer leaping across on one trip to the site.

We had a great time on this site, one of the best we have been on. Our first visit to this site and, in fact, to Norfolk. Staff were friendly and helpful. No problems with access road, although could imagine it might be a bit hairy if towing large caravan.
Lovely site and surroundings, ideal for walkers and dogs. Site ideal as touring base. Site shop stocked main essentials. We did main shop in Morrisons in Cromer - easy parking for motorhomes. Various walks into East and West Runton. Few shops, cafes and pubs in West Runton. Also handy for bus and train if you don't want to drive off site.
All in all, lovely holiday, returned home relaxed and de-stressed. Will definitely visit again.

Our stay was before the school hols so was very quiet - perfect! The staff were friendly and helped us move the unit with their tractor. We had a good(sloping)pitch that wasn't overlooked when the site filled at the weekend, but some pitches did become quite hemmed in & there was some confusion about which side of the units owners should park their cars. It was sunny every day so the access track was not too bumpy & had been freshly scraped; our problems here were minimal. The bordering vegetation makes it feel jungly - there are numerous passing places but problems could arise should two units meet up, so it is particularly important that leavers should vacate the site before noon and new arrivals come afterwards. Our nearest toilet block was extremely clean & I liked the private little wash rooms; you could freshen up or dress without taking a full shower -useful when the 3 showers in our block were busy. The showers were nice & warm, the push-button just requiring regular prods. The shop had the basics, although the Morrisons loaf they sold us was a little stale and labelled as two days past its display date. Still, mistakes happen & we were just glad to have something for our toast. There were lots of dogs on site & ours loved it, not least because of the rabbits who munched around the caravans in full view, driving them mad! The dog walk leading to the top of the hill (amazing views & sunsets!) also had rabbits & grazing ponies so dogs MUST be on a lead. Note that the steam train on the Poppy Line issues dogs with their own 'Rover ticket'!
There's a good Indian restaurant & take-away, Labone, on the main road through Sherringham (10 mins) drive away & a Malaysian at The New Inn at Roughton. We tried fish & chips from the visiting van, but they were a little pricey and you have to queue for up to an hour. There is a handy Morrisons superstore in Cromer on the A148.
We really did have a wonderful time at this site & are certain to return!

We have been using this site for more years than I care to remember. Fist impressions, the drive down through the trees is dreadful, always has been, still is, despite being recently 'scrapped'. Once down the track, the site comes into view, it is magnificent, set among the countryside, but only a short walk from East and West Runton. Our recent visit was somewhat marred by the reception we received from a site warden, one of the rudest individuals I have ever met, quite out of character compared to every warden we have net before. Don't let him put you off, or the horrible track leading down to the site, it is still a super site, perfectly placed for this part of Norfolk.

This was our first time camping with our motor home. We did not know what to expect. The welcome was warm and friendly and we were shown to our pitch and everything was explained to us. For our first experience this was very pleasing and helpful. We found it a very quite, beautiful, well kept site with first class spotless toilets and showers. As previously mentioned by others the road to the site is rough and bumpy but well worth the minor discomfort. Two small negatives, The shower cut off after about one minute which was a bit quick when you have an eye full of soap and the shop charged an extra 10 pence for newspapers saying it was a delivery charge. This may be standard practise I don't know but seemed a bit excessive. Other than that we found this an excellent site and would have no hesitation using it again and recommending it to others.

First visit to this site, my Father was staying here so we decided to join them for the weekend. (went to the Caravan Club site down the road first by mistake!) awful welcome to the site by the managers, first impressions always last, I nearly turned around to go back to the site we went to by mistake! Site clean and tidy, nice walks for the dog. No ball games etc allowed though so not great for kids or families, would I return, maybe if I knew that the current managers have changed or improved. Overall a nice quiet site good for couples who just want to chill out.

Spent 8days camping in June and we found this to be one of the best sites we have stayed on. It is a large site, but had plenty of facilities - 2 toilet/shower blocks which were always open and very clean. The wash up was big with nice large sinks for BBQ equipment. The walks from the site were useful so that you could go to village or beach without using the car. Cromer is so handy for shopping and we used the train which although only hourly was perfectly on time. Staff work very hard on this site to keep it in good condition and were constantly on view working on something. Added bonus was a field full of rabbits to watch as most times of the day and night. Would definately return.

A lovely week at West Runton despite the almost incessant rain! It did show that the site is mostly well-drained!
The site is convenient for a lot of village and town facilities and there is a lot to do in the area. The site is also one of the best we have visited for our dogs; lots of easy footpaths with plenty of variety.
The staff were very friendly and obviously took pride in the site appearance. Access down the track is often criticised but this is not a problem if taken slowly and carefully.
All in all, we will certainly go again if in the area.

Our first visit to the site & we will most definately be returning. Plenty of dog walks around the site (which our 1 year old springer loved!) & only a half hour steady stroll into East & West Runton Villages which both have access to beaches. Cromer is only another 20 minute walk along the beach from East Runton. Would recommend The Village Pub in West Runton - very dog friendly, excellent for food & some nice guest ales. There are also a couple of nice pubs in East runton & a well stocked local shop which does cashback when you spend over a fiver if you're unable to get into Cromer to an ATM. Facilities were excellent - very clean & plentiful. The site wasn't very busy when we visited but would imagine you wouldn't have to wait very long (if at all) when they were busy. Cromer is about a 10 minute drive away & has a Co-op, Morrisons & Budgens if you need to do a 'Big Shop'. Would recommend visiting Sheringham Park - some excellent walks some of which take you all the way back down to the beaches & give the option to jump on the North Norfolk Railway & pick up the footpath further along the track! Our only gripe (..albiet a minor one) was the fish & chip van which visited the site on Thursday & Saturday - the portion sizes were not what we expected & whilst the fish was tasty the chips left a lot to be desired & at £13 for 2x fish, chips & peas we expected a little more for our money. Will be trying the Fish & Chip shop in the village next time. In respect of the road access to the site - yes it is a bit on the bumpy side to say the least & can imagine it would be a little challenging for those towing a caravan but don't let that put you off - nothing good ever came easy!! Apart from that we would highly recommend this site & we will be looking to book up to re-visit later this year (hopefully when the weather is a litle warmer!!)

Had a very enjoyable week at West Runton with grandchildren. Thank you.
Were put on a service pitch backing up to the boundary which suited us fine. Access road nowhere as bad as made out. Childrens play area basic but well used. Nice welcome from staff, even though site was fairly full and they were busy. Very handy location for nearby villages and Cromer, can recommend the family shows on the pier and lifeboat museum. Shire Horse Centre worth a visit and within walking distance. Pick a day when they are giving demonstrations and talks. Pitched not too far from a facilities block, both of which are extremely well maintained. Very good drier in laundry room, well used due to heavy rain at times! Only issue during the whole week was a missing sink plug in the wash up area and a faulty light bulb, both replaced same day as reported to reception so can't complain about that! No recycling facility on site, apparently because site is within a mile of local council amenity,so no great problem really. We will definitely return to West Runton.

we thouroughly enjoyed our stay.the surrounding area of the site is a beautiful place to explore and visit.some reviews comment on getting to the site as being a bit rough narrow and steep. it is steepish and narrow but if it is taken slowly it not as bad as it seems , plenty of passing places and when you get to the entrance the descent seems trivial.will be going again next year definately.

Usual standards for facilities, unfortunately there were no hand driers in Ladies toilets. Also the approach road still leaves a lot to be desired even after improvments(I hate to think how bad it was before.)We understand that the problem lies with the National Trust but it has to be said some of the pot holes near the top will cause problems if left unattended this winter.

Site very busy due to school hols. Showers cold unless you were in very early, grubby by tea time because only cleaned once per day and this is not enough when the site is so full. Access road is a joke, very narrow and badly potholed. When we arrived the shower screen in my new Swift caraan was broken away from its hinges and laid in the bottom of the shower tray, looking at a large bill to repair, caused by the shocking road surface.
We pay a premium to stay on club sites during the school hols and we are not getting premium service.
In recent years we have noticed that standards are slipping, this needs to be adressed .

Second time we have stayed this year and must admit we were disappointed compared to the May break we had. Site was very busy, as we expected, but it was pretty crammed in and everyone on top of each other. Showers were cold unless you showered very early or very late, just seemd boiler couldn't cope with the numbers. Kids stayed up making alot of noise well after 10 at night.

This was our first camping adventure with our 4 year old daughter and Dog in tow. The site came highly recommended by close family friends. We were made very welcome on our arrival and staff made sure that we were catered for. The fish and chips on wednesday evening were excellent, although you do need patients as they cook fish to order.
Daughter and dog thoroughly enjoyed the stay. Will look to book again for a longer stay as the local area has a lot to offer.

Staff were friendly and helpful, facilities excellent and cleaned daily. Showers were warm and plenty of space to get dressed in. There were seperate cubicles with washing basins so nice and private too. We were put near the childrens playing area which wasn't ideal as we don't have children and it got quite noisy but as it was the school holidays this was to be expected. It was either this pitch or one which sloped so we took the flatter and noisier option! Very easy to get to the beach from the site (gate by the dog walk at the back of the park) and you can walk to either East or West Runton. Would recommend and would visit again.

Good easy access to Cromer and the surrounding area. As with the other reviews, access road was very narrow, it was like driving through a dense forest, but that made it all the more fun. Would definately recommend and will look forward to returning again!!

If your sat nav is like mine you will have to ignore it when you get within a mile as it takes you round in big circle probably because the site is accessed by a narrow dirt track of about 800 metres through woodland - not great if you meet vehicles exiting. Once there - great site. As usual very friendly helpful staff. Very pretty site with good walks to West Runton ( 1 good pub and couple of shops. Beach has rocky pools) and East Runton (2 ordinary pubs - no food and one shop but with great sandy beach). Also site next to common where you can take dogs for quick walk to admire great views over the two villages and sea beyond - great on sunny evening. Facilities spot on - some of the best we have found. Worth the scarry drive in and would return

Access Road is difficult when towing. We encountered a Motorhome with a car trailer coming off site when we arrived at approx 1.30pm. Passing place was very tight for car and caravan. The potholes have been repaired and some of the coat hooks in showers have been replaced. The shower block is very spacious, one of the best in the club. Some good walks via footpaths from the site. The site is well worth a visit despite the access problem. We would definitely return!

Me and my elderly dog spent 3 nights here, it was my first time at this site and found the drive through the woods on the bumpy track a bit of an experience (sporty corsa so hard suspension)but once i arrived at the entrance to the site it was well worth it. It opened out to a very tidy well kept site. The reception i received was fantastic, i was given directions to walk to East & West Runton from the site(east is a sandy dog friendly beach)and a low down on the amenities. Through one of the two gates located in the site a short walk gives fantastic sea views, though maybe a bit hilly, nothing big but if you are only used to flat like me seems like a mountain! The showers, toilets and vanity cubicles were immaculate, hair dryer was really good and at 20p for approx 5 mins did what it should, but no mirror in front of dryer to see what you are doing you could end up looking like Worzel Gummidge!(mirror to side but cord not long enough!). Fish and chips on a wednesday and saturday night is not to be missed ......yummy! Seems like there is plenty to do around the area, but due to dog being elderly only went to Sheringham Park and East Runton beach.
Will definately be going back.

The most difficult part was believing my satnav was right when I was instructed to turn up this quite narrow road going uphill. This was my first time out with my motorhome, so was a little bit nervous! Was very lucky that a very large motorhome towing a car on a trailer turned just in front of me so I followed it - no problem. Once up to the top of the hill its then down through the trees, which kind of added to the sense of adventure. Met a landrover coming up towing a trailer tent, but using the passing places was easy, as they are quite large. Then coming out of the trees onto the site was lovely with all the beautiful flowers. The site wardens are so friendly and helpful. Everything is so clean and fresh. I will definitely come back here, as it is really a great site.

The access is absolutely fine, we had no problems considering we have only owned our motorhome 2 weeks and this was our second outing! Lovely welcome, very attentive staff, even checked we were ok once we had settled in. We had an ideal pitch which was great for our dogs, one dog was on his first outing so we were worried. Excellent walks, infact we walked to East Runton beach in the evening which is any easy walk from site so the dogs could let off steam. Everyone seemed very friendly and happy there this I am sure is due to the fact the site is so well organised and clean, couldnt fault anything at all, we went out for the day managed to shop at Morrisons nearby and return with no problem ( re access road) We were even able to move over a pitch so we could get TV reception as we were under a tree ! We are returning only a week later for 3 nights, we were so impressed and felt relaxed and happy there, dogs loved it too ! Thank you and well done for being such a lovely site !

We were a little apprehensive about this site after reading about the tricky access road. It was nowhere near as bad as we'd feared. A lot of work had been done filling in potholes and a slow drive gave us no problems even without the benefit of a 4x4, just a medium sized estate towing. There are plenty of passing places and as long as caravans leave before midday and arrive after midday there should be no problem. The week after we stayed there, the track was due to be closed for two days for major surgery so it should be even better now. The wardens were all friendly and helpful and the walks right off the site superb, especially for a dog owner. Only minor criticism is that the shower cubicles and washbasin cubicles had cheap plastic hooks and a number of these had snapped. Hardly the crime of the century. Fish n chip van Wed and Sat. All in all a well run site in a good location and we'll be back.

As previously mentioned, access is down a longish gravel lane, but by no means as bad as I was expecting, slightly pot-holed but plenty of passing places.
Very clean facilities, never had to queue for a shower despite being there during a bank holiday.
Site was busy but did not feel overly-cramped.
Site is generally very secluded and quiet, despite some noise in the evenings over the bank holiday weekend, the 11pm curfew kicked in efficiently and was very peaceful after that.
Loads to do in the area - something for everyone.
Found some good restaurants in Cromer - The Old Rock Shop Bistro and Garden Street Grill. Near to site was Roman Camp pub/restaurant - good food but dreadfully slow service.
On the whole West Runton is highly recommended and we would have no hesitation in revisiting.

This was our second year running we visited the site as we love the tranquility that it gives us. But the biggest moan has to be the access road which was worse that in 2009. Talks with an area manager did not give any confidence to us that it would even be patched to make it better when towing a caravan.
All that aside the managers Lyn & Terry were hard working as most of their assistants, there was a good repore among them, they were always polite and friendly. The site is well cared for and the facilities clean and tidy and were checked several time a day. The hanging baskets, pots and ardens well cared for and gave a lovely entrance after the dreadful access.

The access to the site is 1/2 mile from the road to the barrier - this is very steep, narrow with passing places, with numerous deep potholes and ruts - an absolute nightmare to negotiate when towing a 25 ft long caravan, even when driving incredibly slowly; when it rained the depth of the pothoples could not be seen - just felt!!
