This was our second visit to this lovely little site. All the staff are friendly and helpful.
The showers and toilets are exceptional.
It's a very secluded site and lovely if you want a quiet weekend, yes you can hear the M25 but it fades into the background once you get used to it, I definitely wouldn't stop you going to this site. There was 4 couples camping in our group and we had a lovely weekend we stayed on the site all weekend and had a very relaxing break. We'll definitely be going back in the near future again!!!!!

It's just inside the M25 but you feel as if you're in the country! We stayed a week & loved it - nice walks & the site is so well maintained. It takes about 1/2 hour to walk to the train station so if London's the lure - there are more convenient sites that you can access for that than Theobalds Park, but if you want Hertfordshire countyside, look no further!

The campsite is ideal for visiting London. When we visited (feb half term) the site was very quiet. The washrooms are spacious and luxurious- warm and very clean.
The distant hum of the M25 is quieter than the noise that a river or sea may make.
Pleasant quiet walk to bus stop with buses every 20 mins into London.

We stayed at this site to visit the Olympics. We came with family members and although the site was very busy every effort was made to site us together. The wardens were very friendly and the site was impeccably clean. The only downside being the toilets closing for an hour and a half daily! The atmosphere on the site was fantastic. We were able to walk to the train station (Turkey Street) only a 20 min walk, which then gave us direct access to London. Will definitely stay again .

We booked this a bit last minute, and I was rather sceptical as this was the only C&CC club site within a couple of hours from home that still had availability for the bank holiday weekend. However, we were very pleasantly surprised!
The site is situated up a lane just off the busy A10, and while we could hear the noise from the M25, it never became an issue. Once onsite, the reception staff were extremely helpful, and were able to site us right next to our in-laws who came along in their motor home.
The toilet/washing up block is exceptionally clean! In addition, the chemical toilet disposal is inside and has hand washing facilities – other sites could learn a lot from this!! The Reception sells the odd basic bits but there is a Sainsburys, Morrisons and Tescos all close by.
We cycled to the Lee Valley Park, and what a surprise! We stumbled upon a beautiful stretch of canal, where we watched the canal boats go through the various locks, and stopped for a well deserved beer at the YHA. Passed the Olympic white water arena on the way home and overall had a smashing day, with lots of flat cycling for the kids. If for no other reason we would definitely return to Theobalds Park.

Site is well maintained, and kept clean. some background noise from M25.
had a pleasant stay, however a couple of minor points.
some pitches were too close, considering that we were given a leaflet about the positioning of units. I.E. a tent behind us was on 3 metres away.
The smell from the waste storage near the toilet block, confronted you everytime you visited the facilities.
I will be visiting the site again

Staff were very friendly and gave a lovely welcome. The site is small but has everything that is needed. The toilets/dishwashing facilities were one of the best I've seen and excellent for hygiene.
Could hear M25 on a night but this didn't affect our sleep. The site is ideal for visiting London and the surrounding area. I visited during the Olympics and there was a real community feeling. Would go again.

new, clean, spotless, well managed and a complete delight, just arrived back home after a wonderful 2 night break, toilets and showers clean, and spacious.all pitches are spacious and flatwell set out and not regimented in rows to cram the most in.surrounded by trees on perimeter and nice and open inside.
Local taxi quick and efficient we used to go to local station(waltham cross) about 7mins away maybe 1/2 hour to walk. we went to liverpool st in 1/2 hour from here, then by tube to central London by yellow circle line easily.got tickets on trainline website,2 adults 2 children return both days, super off peak zones 1-6 for underground and buses total £49. a absolute bargain,

Stayed over at this loverly site for three nights over the jubilee weekend. It is difficult to find but if you follow the instructions you will find it. I stopped here as my MH does not comply with London's clean air policy. Site is just outside. We cycled to Turkey Street station 10 minutes.
Nice hot showers clean. Staff nice and helpful. Down side some traffic noise from M25 but did not bother us. Will use again when visiting London.

Fantastic - what a change from the last time we visited this site. Everything is brand new, plenty of hard standings, good roads on site, and the toilet blocks - absolutely marvellous. Well done "Friendly Club" you have made this site superb, and not just OK as it was. It's still really convenient for London, and the Lee Valley, and so there is a some traffic noise, but after a while you don't notice it. The team of Phil, Irene & Andrew & Lynn were lovely, and kept everything spic & span. Biggest problem was having to go home - see you soon !!

Our first camp ofthis season and Theobalds Park is a little jem. Perfect for a reasonable break if you want to do the London tourist trails, as you are there in 30 mins by train, or lovely Hertfordshire and Essex. The site is excellent with wonderful facilities which are keep lovely and clean. The pitches are well spaced and the sit faces south, so plenty of sun to be had. Cannot say there was any real noise from the M25, and yes, we did find the river crossing the M25, which I would recommend as a walk, with a stop at the Peir Bull halfway for a pint! Highly reccommended.

stayed on old site many times and liked the rough and ready approach it gave out, was always happy even portocabins as kept immaculate by wardens.
just had three nights over april holiday and impressed with all the new work and millions spent, worth every penny of extra money now being charged, although not gone up to much.Busy this weekend but still a few pitches to spare. New purpose built toilet/laundry block amazing and a purpose built motormhome waste/dump point. we drive an 30ft RV and not a problem getting on most of the pitches without driving over grass. Wardens as always(same as last year) ever friendly and there to assist, as long as you do not take the ... will always be back there !

Conveniently sited for London, the railway station is not far away. However this site is within hearing distance of the M25 and we found the noise to be intrusive, particularly at night.
The Hertford site, though further from the capital, is a much more peaceful alternative.
The loos are situated within a semi permanent building, but are spotless and efficient.
The Lee Valley is within easy cycling distance and this provides a safe corridor to London, while the country park is a great facility in itself.
The Olympic white-water park is nearby for those wanting to watch or participate in some exciting canoeing.
We would use it again as a stop over.

As a first time camper I didn't want to travel too far in case it all went pear shaped. This site was chosen for it's distance from home and no other reason. Now, having camped for 3 nights here, I can safely say that I will definately camp again and am more than likely to return to this site for the following additional reasons: The Staff - Fran and Den especially were consitently helpful, friendly and understanding - they truly made this experience a very positive one for me & my little boy; Cleanliness - the site was immaculate - the grounds & the facilities were spotless; The Guests - very friendly and more than willing to encourage and use their experiences as examples; The Surroundings - whilst their was background rumbling from the nearby M25 if you listened carefully, the site felt tranquil and had some lovely little short walks through woods & fields. All in all, a site that definately had a 'family' feel to it that made us feel very welcome to the point we have now joined The Camping & Caravan Club & upgraded our tent!

This site is ok... I wouldn't recomend it as a base if you are looking for things to do unless you are planning to go into central london... but you'd need a car to get to the site so not greatly convenient. We wish we had planned better what we would do before we left as once there we couldn't find a lot. Play area is small and the site in bland. That said, the staff were friendly.I think they would benifit from an electric gate, but it wasn't busy in August so perhaps it's just not needed. Toilet block is temporary, but clean and efficient. If you are looking for a stop off while you are on your way somewhere else, or want somewhere quiet to read and sit in the sun with a bbq i'd recomend it. If you have children that are eager to explore or find things to do... not so much.

Although I've put "town" in details, this site really doesn't feel like it. This a real little gem of a site and all the staff we met were first class. Although toilets & showers are temporary buidlings, they are well equipped and absolutely spotless - the cleanest we've ever visited! The site is surrounded by beautiful woodland with lots of flora and fauna to discover. Yes, you can hear the M25 motorway when outside the caravan but once inside the caravan we couldn't hear it much at all. We certainly slept well, the only noise being from the wind and rain!
We'll definitely return, especially if visiting London.

Lovely clean pretty site - a credit to C & C club and the wardens. Temporary showers/loos, but spotless - not a cobweb to be found, constant hot water of reliable temperature (self set). Quiet - use your imagination - the M25 sounds like the sea! Only criticism - nowhere but the floor or back of basin to park towel/toiletry bag if using hand basin - could do with a shelf. Would use again.

Only 2 things put us off, The warden unplugged our hook up and moved it ti another point without the courtesy to ask, We where watching tv and making a cuppa at the time, the amount of fellow campers not using the roads, quite happy to walk over your pitch as a short cut.

I stayed at the site for a week in October and used it as a base to go into London each day. The wardens were excellent and apart from being very friendly and helpful actually went above and beyond the call of duty in my case. I had accidentally booked a pitch on line without an electric hook up, but they took the trouble before my arrival to check my booking history and when they saw I always book with electric, actually reserved one for me. The site suffers from some background road noise from the nearby M25 although despite its proximity to that and London, it can still be classified as a secluded country site. Access is easy. I hope the club is planning to upgrade the toilet blocks to proper ones at some time in the future even though the wardens kept them very clean. It proved to be perfect for my needs during my week and special thanks to the wardens for that.
