doubled in price since 2011, added new toilets old ones were fine, now shower water goes off after 40 secs, noise from motorway 24/7 unbearable at night, not worth the rise in price, need a car or bike to get anywhere, dog walk very short, good if you want a base to see london, not good for country holiday

Stayed here for the first time early April.Site could not have been better.Friendly staff and helpful.Very quite could not here motorway.Just a little hard to find.Needs some signs putting up.Road leading to site says private road. With no sign saying camp site.Very easy to get into London.A bit of a walk to bus or train stop. But you can drive down to near the garden centre and park on the road side.No charge and plenty of space. Then its only a few minutes walk to the bus stop. You can get a travel card from the shop opposite the bus stop. Will be back again.

Our first camp ofthis season and Theobalds Park is a little jem. Perfect for a reasonable break if you want to do the London tourist trails, as you are there in 30 mins by train, or lovely Hertfordshire and Essex. The site is excellent with wonderful facilities which are keep lovely and clean. The pitches are well spaced and the sit faces south, so plenty of sun to be had. Cannot say there was any real noise from the M25, and yes, we did find the river crossing the M25, which I would recommend as a walk, with a stop at the Peir Bull halfway for a pint! Highly reccommended.

We were second unit onto the refurbished site, what a joy!Although we had no real complaints about it before, this is now a class above. don't really want to say how nice the change, as we might struggle to book in future! Excellent disabled facilities.

stayed on old site many times and liked the rough and ready approach it gave out, was always happy even portocabins as kept immaculate by wardens.
just had three nights over april holiday and impressed with all the new work and millions spent, worth every penny of extra money now being charged, although not gone up to much.Busy this weekend but still a few pitches to spare. New purpose built toilet/laundry block amazing and a purpose built motormhome waste/dump point. we drive an 30ft RV and not a problem getting on most of the pitches without driving over grass. Wardens as always(same as last year) ever friendly and there to assist, as long as you do not take the ... will always be back there !

Conveniently sited for London, the railway station is not far away. However this site is within hearing distance of the M25 and we found the noise to be intrusive, particularly at night.
The Hertford site, though further from the capital, is a much more peaceful alternative.
The loos are situated within a semi permanent building, but are spotless and efficient.
The Lee Valley is within easy cycling distance and this provides a safe corridor to London, while the country park is a great facility in itself.
The Olympic white-water park is nearby for those wanting to watch or participate in some exciting canoeing.
We would use it again as a stop over.

Excellent base for exploring London, Turkey Street nearest railway station and a short taxi ride AND accepts Oyster. 30 min ride into London Liverpool Street. Lovely little site with really nice staff. Toilet facilities are clean and well presented. Good pub nearby that has good food good real ales and very friendly staff. Some noise from M25 but you'll get used to it. Access not really that difficult. We'll definately be back.

As a first time camper I didn't want to travel too far in case it all went pear shaped. This site was chosen for it's distance from home and no other reason. Now, having camped for 3 nights here, I can safely say that I will definately camp again and am more than likely to return to this site for the following additional reasons: The Staff - Fran and Den especially were consitently helpful, friendly and understanding - they truly made this experience a very positive one for me & my little boy; Cleanliness - the site was immaculate - the grounds & the facilities were spotless; The Guests - very friendly and more than willing to encourage and use their experiences as examples; The Surroundings - whilst their was background rumbling from the nearby M25 if you listened carefully, the site felt tranquil and had some lovely little short walks through woods & fields. All in all, a site that definately had a 'family' feel to it that made us feel very welcome to the point we have now joined The Camping & Caravan Club & upgraded our tent!

Nice site, stayed twice in August for weekend breaks. Helpful friendly staff, good facilities. Loads of wild rabbits and bats at dusk. Nice walks along the New River. Check out the way the river goes over the M25..clever! All in all, enjoyed stay.

This site is ok... I wouldn't recomend it as a base if you are looking for things to do unless you are planning to go into central london... but you'd need a car to get to the site so not greatly convenient. We wish we had planned better what we would do before we left as once there we couldn't find a lot. Play area is small and the site in bland. That said, the staff were friendly.I think they would benifit from an electric gate, but it wasn't busy in August so perhaps it's just not needed. Toilet block is temporary, but clean and efficient. If you are looking for a stop off while you are on your way somewhere else, or want somewhere quiet to read and sit in the sun with a bbq i'd recomend it. If you have children that are eager to explore or find things to do... not so much.

have just returned from 4 nights on this site,we used the site as a base for travekking into london, mum dad and 3 kids and it was ideal.we drove to cockfosters,10 mins away, left the car there for a very reasonable charge and got the tube into london, certainly a lot more reasonable and relaxing than driving in.
the site was picturesque, friendly, well equipped and spotlessly clean,
couldnt fault it,will definitely be returning.

Although I've put "town" in details, this site really doesn't feel like it. This a real little gem of a site and all the staff we met were first class. Although toilets & showers are temporary buidlings, they are well equipped and absolutely spotless - the cleanest we've ever visited! The site is surrounded by beautiful woodland with lots of flora and fauna to discover. Yes, you can hear the M25 motorway when outside the caravan but once inside the caravan we couldn't hear it much at all. We certainly slept well, the only noise being from the wind and rain!
We'll definitely return, especially if visiting London.

Lovely clean pretty site - a credit to C & C club and the wardens. Temporary showers/loos, but spotless - not a cobweb to be found, constant hot water of reliable temperature (self set). Quiet - use your imagination - the M25 sounds like the sea! Only criticism - nowhere but the floor or back of basin to park towel/toiletry bag if using hand basin - could do with a shelf. Would use again.

Another excellent site, easy to find in an excellent location for travelling into London. Enjoyed our 3 night stay there and found the shower facilities very clean. Welcomed and shown to our pitch.
Only 2 things put us off, The warden unplugged our hook up and moved it ti another point without the courtesy to ask, We where watching tv and making a cuppa at the time, the amount of fellow campers not using the roads, quite happy to walk over your pitch as a short cut.

We had a very happy three night stay, using the site as a means of access to central London. Wardens were very helpful and the advice given on transport links very helpful.
The facilities are very clean but we did wonder if they were sufficient when the site is full. Upgrading has been mentioned and would make a great improvement.

A nice site generally, a little road noise in the early morning. Child of 2 perfectly safe and happy to wander about. Facilities were always clean and never had to wait for the ladies shower but husband had to wait a short time for gents shower. Friendly welcome from the campsite owners. All in all a pleasant site to use.

I stayed at the site for a week in October and used it as a base to go into London each day. The wardens were excellent and apart from being very friendly and helpful actually went above and beyond the call of duty in my case. I had accidentally booked a pitch on line without an electric hook up, but they took the trouble before my arrival to check my booking history and when they saw I always book with electric, actually reserved one for me. The site suffers from some background road noise from the nearby M25 although despite its proximity to that and London, it can still be classified as a secluded country site. Access is easy. I hope the club is planning to upgrade the toilet blocks to proper ones at some time in the future even though the wardens kept them very clean. It proved to be perfect for my needs during my week and special thanks to the wardens for that.
