"A peaceful campsite with easy access to the city of York and the nearby North York Moors National Park."
Sheriff Hutton may only be a few miles from York, but it is spacious, quiet and rural. It is the perfect place for exploring the North Yorkshire Moors along with the coastal towns of Filey and Bridlington.

A lovely, quiet, large site with well kept
grass and play area. Hardstanding drained easily after a good
soaking! Good local pubs for eating out. - Pat Baxter

Camping in June 2013 with 2 young boys aged 5 and 3. Jumbo grass pitch with no electric.
Site quite easy to find and only 10 minutes from the York ring road. The welcome from Anne was very warm and friendly and we were shown to a couple of pitches to choose from. The site is on the level and immaculate, the grass is beautifully manicured and the flower beds are bursting with colour.
The site is very well appointed, the hard standing pitches are well maintained and weed-free and the access roads are newly tarmaced.
The facilities block is spotlessly clean with plenty of showers, sinks and toilets plus loads of hot water throughout the day. A real plus for us was the family washroom and the easy to use chemical disposal point.
It is a shame we could only give you 5 stars as you certainly deserve more. This is a truly beautiful site and we thank you for a wonderful week - we will be certainly be back!
York is only a stones throw away and the park-and-ride is easy to access from this side of the city. If you have kids that need wearing out then Creepy Crawlies is just down the road - a fabulous indoor / outdoor play area with excellent cafe.
Flamingo Land is a great day out with theme park and zoo and is not too far away. Tickets can be expensive so look for the discounts on Yorkshire.com.

Doubt if you could better in anyway. fantastically clean, maintained and friendly. Top class. A second stay and will be going back again and again. Exceptionally thought out pitch layouts with good mixture of ability to be private or park closer to friends.Thank you.

What a lovely, small, and quiet site, with good, friendly staff. We have just returned from a 4 night stay and the only problem we had, was we had to leave to return home. The site and facilities were spotless I would highly recommend a meal at the Highway Man in Sheriff Hutton or the Ship at Strensall. There is also a local pizza delivery service to the site and a chip van that comes on a Saturday evening.

What a lovely place all the staff were very nice, the toilets and shower block are the best we have come accross, happy with the large pitch we got and the village is near by just a mile away. The pub in the village is dog friendly which serves good food and a decent pint. top camp thanks.
lovely site nice staff spotless tolits and shower block great weekend bad road just out side campsite but would go back
We have visited this site on numerous occasions in the past but hadn't been for a while, so was pleased to find everything as we remembered. On arrival our greeting was most welcoming and friendly and we were given a choice of pitches - we were then shown to our pitch and 'left to it' but any problems/ queries just go and see them. The toilet block had been refurbished to a high standard with plenty of hooks in the showers - brilliant. This is a lovely quiet site, even on a Bank Holiday weekend and would suit couples and families. Highly recommend this site and also the fish and chips from the van that comes on Saturday night - delicious.
Had a great few days here. Well run by Sharon & Ron, the friendly and helpful managers and other staff, who keep the site absolutely immaculate (and yes, the shower & loos are as clean as my own bathroom!). Loved the herbs growing by reception for use by campers, what a nice touch,
Off site facilities in the area are good, park & ride, supermarkets and petrol stations not too far away.. Two pubs for food & drink in Sherriff Hutton (easily walkable though you need to walk on the road part way - the grass verge is plenty wide enough to walk on, especially on the opposite side of the road). If you fancy a pizza for dinner instead of cooking, you can get one delivered to the site. Didn't get chance to sample the fish & chip van's fare though, as we left the day before it was due.
Lots to do in the area apart from the obligatory visit to York. Benningborough Hall is lovely and we spent a fab day at the Yorkshire Air Museum at Elvington. Didn't get chance to visit Castle Howard and will happily return to this pleasant site so that we can do this.
What a fantastic site well maintained and clean fabulous central heated toilet block appreciated as it was cold.friendly helpful staff helped us anchor our awning down.We are now new members and plan to return soon as there was so much to see and do,easy access to York we visited Whitby which was so picturesque and the market at Knaresboro was lovely.

The wardens were abrasive & unfriendly.
One comment made by the male warden was that tents would be banned if he had his way, as they damage his grass.
WIFI almost impossible to get.
The toilet disposel point is far too high.
Woken at 6.45am by warden screaming at someone quietly gathering his gear together.
Would use the site again but only because of its position.

We arrived at this immaculate, secluded site in the wettest, windiest week in the history of wet and windy weeks. Our approach from the north through beautiful countryside quickly revealed our proximity to most of the points of interest in the area. We were keen to get out and dodge the showers. Castle Howard, York, Harrogate and Knaresborough beckoned.
We were welcomed and helped into place by our hosts. The grounds are immaculate. (Sadly, soon to fall foul of the heavy weather). The warmth of the welcome was borne out by support and attention during our stay. Including some minor DIY!
On one gusty afternoon, we all but lost our porch awning. A fellow resident pegged what was left down for us. Thank you!
Thoroughly recommended. Central, easy to pitch and find. Just be prepared if wind is forecast. It's a flat, open site with little protection.
DATE STAYED: October 2012
Had to arrive a day later than wanted due to site being flooded - no problem as we are retired. Nothing too much trouble from staff - must be the cleanest toilets and showers around. Will be going again next year.
SUITABLE FOR: Families,Older couples,Active break,Peaceful break
A very well kept site with modern facilities.
Did feel the Club was trying to be just a touch to economical with the hot water for dishwashing, best described as tepid!
SUITABLE FOR: Families,Older couples,Younger couples
We have just spent a great weekend at this site. Everything about this site is five star, the welcome, the facilities and the area. This was the first time we have stayed at this site but it wont be the last!!!!
SUITABLE FOR: Peaceful break
Just returned from my 3rd visit to the site.
Staff as always very friendly and helpful.
The new showers and toilets are excellent, although I couldn't remember them being that bad before the refurbishment.
Yes lots of bird noise, it's in the country there's going to be noise.
Main issue is with wiping out so many tent pitches for the hard-standing type.
Some of these can't even be used as you wouldn't get to the pitches behind..good planning, head office should not only talk to the managers but actually take on board what they say!!!
Also the chemical disposal point is accessed via the washing up point, this needs changing or at least an automatic door closer fitting to the room, the smell when washing up isn't great if the door is left open!!

Another visit to Sheriff Hutton, slightly unexpected as we got re-directed from Boroughbridge due to a flood alert but we weren't disappointed. Site spotlessly clean and very well maintained. Site managers Dave & Barbara are always very friendly and extremely helpful, and were the same this time despite being snowed under, partly due to the influx of people from the Boroughbridge site - they always make time to have a chat and help out where they can. Our little boy loves the site, especially when there's other children around to play with - the play area is central to the site so it's easy to keep an eye one them while pottering around your 'van. Had a trip out to the coast this time which isn't too much of a drive, making it back to the site just in time to get fish and chips from the van that comes round Saturday evenings.
Once again, top marks to C&CC and site staff.
An enjoyable week here meeting up with old friends. The toilets/showers/facilities are excellent and the site is well laid out. Our 2 dogs loved the exercise area because, although not a "dog walk", we were able to let them play ball for a good long session in a totally enclosed space - which isn't possible on a "normal" walk - and going into the village on foot is not easy as we had to walk in the road for at least half a mile. Suggest you re-advertise as "exercise area", rather than dog walk.
DATE STAYED: July 2012
We stayed here in order to visit York. We had thought to catch the bus in from the site but the bus stop is a mile away along a busy road with no path so easier and safer to drive to one of the York Park and Rides instead. Site is excellent with immaculate recently upgraded loos. Not really a site for dogs as the dog walking area is small and there are no walking paths from or near the site.
All the wardens were very helpfull and we were given the choice of hardstandings as some of them had been flooded the day befor we arrived. Yes the birds are loud but being in the countryside what else can be expected. the site is close to York and Eden Camp as well as the Yorkshire air museum. Our only complaint is not the site but the lack of footpaths outside on the very fast road that passes the site.

Been to this site for the last 2 weekends and it lived up to every expectation we had - Spotlessly clean (as ever), very tidy and well kept grounds, staff very friendly and helpful (as they always are). Will be visiting again very soon and would thoroughly recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful break within easy reach of York and the surrounding area.
DATE STAYED: May 2012
Play area extremely limited as there is only one small slide and two swings. Dog walk, not a dog walk - just a very small fenced off area. No suitable places to walk your dog as busy road next to campsite. This site caters more for motorhomes/caravans and mature couples. Toilet and shower facilities very good and excellent fish and chips on the Saturday from a mobile van. Could do with additional refuse bins around the site and not just at the main entrance.
SUITABLE FOR: Older couples
This was our first time out as caravanners and we couldn't have had a better welcome!! As inexperienced caravanners we had mistakingly booked a grass only site but the site managers bent over backwards to accomodate us and made sure that we had electric hook up. They ensured that we got safely to our pitch and even helped us unhitch the caravan !!! The toilet block facilites are beautifully clean and site well maintained. Very handy for visiting York but still feel like you're out in the countryside!
Excellent Welcome from Dave and Barbara who were struggling with the wetness of the site but fortunately hard standings for all made life easier. Our first one was under two inches of water as son as our awning went up! The second was great. The new toilet block is excellent!
Very well placed for York and interesting attractions. Our family visited and stayed and we have a great week!
I'm sure Dave will soon be on top of all the things that contractors have got wrong and Barbara gets used to what seems to be a much too complex system to book folk in on arrival!!!

A return visit for me to this site and once again I really enjoyed my stay. The site managers are friendly, helpful and actually care whether or not you are happy with your stay. Others could learn from them! The newly refurbished utilities block is warm and spotless. The pitches are well spaced. There is a lot to do in the area and the Park and Ride for York at Monk's Bar has a designated area for motorhomes. I look forward to my next visit to this relaxing site.
SUITABLE FOR: Families,Older couples,Active break,Peaceful break,Younger couples
Just spent 8 nights on this lovely site. Very friendly managers ready to help when asked, local knowledge excellent. Short journey into York and within easy reach of coastal resorts.
Amenities very clean and newly upgraded. Just the site to chill and relax.
Nice site with friendly and helpful staff. Great toilet block with good facilities all round. A hand soap dispenser in the chemical waste disposal would be a good addition. Only dissappointment is the lack of Super Service pitches. It should be straight forward to put water and drainage into the new hard stands east of the assistants pitch and to the two new hard stands just south of the toilet block. It is always a surprise how few Super service pitches are available in Club sites.
SUITABLE FOR: Families,Older couples,Groups,Peaceful break
Our 4th visit to the site since the start of last year and we were definitely not disappointed. For starters the staff remembered us from last year which is a nice touch - they remembered that we had started off caravanning at their site and that it wasn't our caravan, it belongs to my parents (ok so it wouldn't have been the end of the world if they hadn't remembered us but it shows that you're not just a member to them and in my opinion that counts for an awful lot). A considerable amount of money has been spent on the site - they now have more hardstanding pitches and the shower block has had a major refit and is absolutely amazing - it was always spotlessly clean previously, if a little dated, but now it's both spotlessly clean and wonderfully modern.
The electric hookup has also been upgraded to 16 Amps which is good.
The site is nicely situated for a trip into York (we visited the Railway Museum) and there is a Tesco Express in nearby Strensall.
Top marks to C&CC and to the site managers Dave & Barbara.
Although we are experienced campers, we are new CCC members. We were very impressed by the helpfulness of the site wardens and the immaculate condition of the site. Very good standard of facilities for a relatively small site. We have just upgraded to a small campervan and appreciated the assistance in setting up.
Sheriff Hutton is an attractive village with pleasant walk around the ruined castle. We visited York by local bus and went to the Ryedale Folk Museum in Hutton le Hole. There is lots to see and do in the area and it's a good base for English Heritage and National Trust properties. We ate out at the Highwayman in Sheriff Hutton and used the fish and chip van which visits the site 4 times a week. The only downside is that it's a long walk into the village along a surprsingly busy country road with no pavement for much of the way.
DATE STAYED: October 2011
Well maintained, friendly staff, dog walk limited but wasnt a problem as we were able to go to the beach at Scarborough. Although end of season, was a popular site. No problems with noise. Will definately recommend, and would visit again
A well-kept site, ideal for visiting York or the North York Moors. Friendly and hard-working staff, plenty of hard standing and space between units. Shower block etc clean. Would stay again and recommend to others.

Friendly welcome from the site managers, very helpful they run one of the nicest club sites, visiting fish and chip trailer excellent value and taste
DATE STAYED: September 2011
Just returned from a thoroughly enjoyable weekend break at Sheriff Hutton.
Arrived a little later than anticipated, but this was not a problem. Quickly checked in by Barbara and shown to our pitch by Dave (on his bike).
As our hook-up cable was too short, Dave lent us his spare so that we could at least get settled. Unfortunately the van battery was flat so it was tea by torch light!! Next morning Dave lent us his battery charger.
Shower block is spotlessly clean and the whole site is really well cared for.
Our kids enjoyed the play area, which is central to the site. They also liked visiting the shop to spend their pocket money and chat to Barbara.
Enjoyed it so much that we have already booked again for October half term (hard standing as suggested by Dave).
Many thanks Dave and Barbara and see you next month.
An excellent site which is well run and managed by the friendly and helpful wardens Dave and Barbara. I cant say I noticed any more noise than you would expect from the birds. It is the countryside after all.The faciliies on site although a bit dated were perfectly adequate. Handy for York Park and Ride, Castle Howard and other local attractions. Although we generally prefer Certificated Sites with minimum facilities this is a site we intend to visit again.
We really enjoyed our camping holiday, I think this has been the best site that I have stayed at, It was really peaceful and friendly. I would highly recommend it. If we camp in Yorkshire again we will definatly book this site. It is well located for easy driving to the park and ride into York or getting to the coast. The staff were excellent from the first contact when we booked our holiday to the day we left 6 days later, their hospitality seemed effortless. Thank you.

A lovely site which the wardens are working hard to improve. We were told significant improvements due to be made over the winter. Very helpful and arranged for us to be next to friends who had booked seperately. Well maintained grass and gardens. Toilet/showers were very clean but in need of upgrading. No real queues even though site quite busy. Some road noise and plenty of countryside noises. It is in the countryside after all!! We sampled the excellent chips from the van and also had a very good meal in the local pub in Sheriff Hutton. Site is well placed for visiting attractions such as Eden Camp, York, Scarborough etc. Not a large play area but in good order. Dog walking was limited and road is quite busy. Overall a very nice site which we would be very happy to return to,
We had a lovely welcome and found staff to be very helpful. The booking in was quick and was given a choice of pitches. The site was very well presented, the facilities were clean albeit the toilet/shower blocks were dated (could do with an upgrade to include a couple more showers)but it certainly wouldn't put us of using again. The wildlife/sheep could be a bit noisy but again thats what you expect when camping. The park and ride system to York was very good and there was lots to see and do especially the Eden Camp war musuem(fantastic value. We had a great time but blessed with good weather did help! We would certainly recommend Sheriff Hutton for a family site. Thank You
A pleasant site which seemed to be enjoyed by visitors of all ages. The site facilities were always clean and the site itself was very well maintained and the floral areas were much appreciated. I would like thank Glinys for her patience in arranging our multiple booking, two/three tents and a caravan on adjacent pitches and terry for his assistance on arrival and throughout our eleven night stay. A word of warning, stay away from the wood pidgeons who occasionally seem to fall off their perch whilst asleep.
Very beautiful site on slight incline, there is some road noise, and a farm in next field, facilities are good, we would definatley go again.....
Very well kept site. At the moment this site is not really suitable for dogs as there are no dog walks or public footpaths around. According to the very helpful and friendly Assistant Manager this is being looked at and hopefully will be sorted out. Very nice cycle ride into York (20 mile round trip).
The birds didn't bother us at all - it's the countryside after all!! Will be visiting again.
The assistant wardens Terry and Glyniss are very friendly and make you feel very welcome we would visit them again anytime.
Now for the Warden what an ignorant unfriendly individual he is. A classic jobsworth who offends as soon as he looks at you never minds if he has reason to talk to you.
If the club ever wants to close a site down put this guy in charge of it !!! I bet his return rate is diabolical. Shame really lovely site spoilt by a totally disagreeable horrible little man. !!!
Returned today and already want to be back! Such lovely people, really friendly and extremely helpful to us setting up in the wind!
Very clean site and very well maintained. small park area for Kids however ours felt too old...they are in their teens though!
close enough to York, Scarbourough etc, but in the country enough to be peacefull, qiuet and secluded. the only noise we heard was from the ravens and the sheep, neither bothered us from sleeping!
We would definately return, and recommend to fellow campers, small but friendly site.
This was the second stop on our tour this year and what a find! From the moment we turned up the helpfulness and friendlyness of the site assistants was top notch. Nothing was too much trouble even when the jockey wheel broke the soon came back with the number of the nearest dealer to get it fixed. This site is quiet and safe for children, while close enough to explore the Yorkshire area with easy day trips out. Take away van comes to site and a local pizza outfit delivers (Indian too). This is for us the Camping and caravaning site that really does make young children welcome which has not always been the case. We will be back.

my self and my daughter spent 4 days at this wonderfull site, we could not have been happier ,barbara and dave were really lovely and nothing was too much trouble for them, the site was spotless and the flowers looked amazing,we will be visting the site again before the end of the season,i would like to thankyou to barbara and dave in making us feel very welcome thank you catherine &kathryn-jayne
Clean campsite, toilet block could do with been upgraded but was spotless. You need a car in order to enjoy the full benefits of the local area, the nearest shop was 1.5 miles away. dog walk was a disappointment only place i could exercise my dog was on a lead around the campsite and on a bit of grass outside the campsite, but this was worrying as the road was 60mph with some people doing in excess of this speed. no proper dog walk, just a little cordened off area where they may be able to clean themselves. would recommend this campsite for older couples who really do want to get away from it all. highlights included the fish and chip van calling at the site on alternate days. theres a takeaway place that does nice pizzas and you can get them delivered to the campsite for free if you do not want to cook, they also sell booze at reasonable prices. some nice walks around sheriff hutton itself.
DATE STAYED: July 2011
A friendly well run site, with the impeccably clean facilities you expect from the Club. Handy for York and so many places to visit in the area. Yes, the rooks were a bit noisy at daybreak, but that's hardly the Club's fault. We're looking forward to going back next year.
The facilities were in need of up-grading. The birds were very LOUD.This was the second site we visited as being new to camping, the first was in the lake district a week before and I was very impressed by that site.I thought all the sites were like that one,so disappointed to go and visit this site.
DATE STAYED: October 2010
I came as a group of eight people 5 in my family and 3 in the other family ... the site was very peaceful and well kept. The staff where friendly and welcoming, they were helpful and very warmly wished us off. The facilities were good in the respect that they were kept clean and there was a chip van that came in four nights a week. There was also an option of having pizza delivered to the site from up the road which we thought was a lovely idea. The only two imporvments we would have asked for would have been maybe another shower/toilet block, and a better dog walk area. My family had a large dog who is well behaved but needed some way to strech his legs, we also came with a jack russel who is naturaly very bouncy and it took alot of effort to wear her out just walking up the road and back. It would have been nice to have been able to walk the dogs round the site. Other than that it was a great site and in all honesty i think it was nice to wake up and hear the birds. Well done and thankyou x

Lots to do and see in the area.Park and ride not far away.
Well done all the staff keep up the good work.Looking forward to seeing you in October.

hi just stayed with friends and family for weekend. nice clean and tidy site however, not suitable for children at all or people who want to sit talk n laugh! there is a note in their booklet saying 11pm quieten down so to speak we were just sat down talking n laughing between ourselves and on the 1st night got told to be quiet at 10pm. on the 2nd night we were sat round a table in front of our own tents there were 3 and the 3 caravans at the side of us were also sat outside their vans talking by 10.30 half of us were in bed the other half outside still they were told to go to bed now if half of the party could sleep inside the tents surely there was not much noise at all but the lady was very rude n quite sturn as well. this site is for older people who want to sit inside their vans watch tv and go to bed at 9pm. THE BIRDS!!!!!! stacks of crows over the field at the side of site make a right racket and at about 4am you get the pigeons cooing 1 starts and then stops and another starts so not much sleep. definately will not return
We have had a lovely stay at the site, and would go back again. It is very child friendly and safe. The staff were so welcoming and extremely helpful, not in the least put out by us continually blowing the electrics! The planned upgrade of the electrics would be great though as 10amp is not all that high. Very close to shops and York centre, a super base for exploring from and relaxing in. Thankyou for making us so welcome, we will be back!!
As found on several C&CC club sites the approach roads were suitable for tractors only with large craters as was the site ring road at the bottom end near pitch 16 area. Whilst the site Managers strive to keep the site nice and tidy these roads drag down the whole appearance of the site. Toilets and showers although spotlessly clean look somewhat jaded in this day and age.
A nice site in general but I hate being told which pitch I will be on !! Surely the club should allow us to pick our own pitch and report back as do lots of other sites both commercial and CC.
There was an issue of a single tent (complete with young children) being sited amongst caravans whose occupants were mainly senior citizens - didn't go down too well as there was acres of space amongst the tent area. Wouldn't go back in a hurry.
Hi, Just spent a lovely peaceful week here, nice well kept site wardens vary friendly and helpful and work very hard to keep site very clean and tidy, toilet block is old but very clean we never had any problems having showers they worked as well as the system allows, never had any problems with noisy birds had great nights sleep there is a fish and chip van 4 times a week which is to much twice a week is enough, great location for York and other areas supermarkets not to far away, plenty to see and do in this area.
Hi, what a lovely site just spent a week here recently well kept site, toilets are old but spotless and work very well indeed, wardens very friendly and helpful will return to this site it's very peaceful, there is a fish and chip van 4 times a week fri/sat/mon and wed its to much they should only be 3 times a week should stop mon but that's only my opinion.
We have stayed on this site before so knew what we were getting, different staff but the excellent welcome was just the same, we stayed over the bank holiday week-end, leaving on the Sunday. The part of the site where most of the tents were pitched was full to capacity, mostly I should think with families and that is where this site falls down, Three showers are not enough, as I usually have my shower on an evening I was not affected but going over to use the toilet there were at least ten ladies waiting to use the shower, some of them had children so their wait must have been long, I saw one or two men taking their sons and coming back immediately so it must have been the same in the gents side.
Apart from that the site is well placed for all the attractions locally, York being the most visited I expect, The North Yorks railway is only half an hours drive away also Eden camp, the Maze and Elvington aircraft museum are only a short distance away. Also there are two out of town shopping centres not too faraway.
The local pub does lovely meals both at lunch and in the evening and the post office in Sheriff Hutton sells a variety of foodstuffs including locally produced pies and sausages and fresh bread daily as well as the usual newspapers magazines etc.,
Very friendly on arrival and during in our stay, often riding by and chatting. 3 Showers not a problem we didnt have to wait. I wouldnt go back only because of the birds.. I've never heard anything like it, it was like the film "BIRDS". If you can sleep with ear plugs I would recommend taking them. It's a shame as it's a lovely site.
Friendly welcoming staff, the site was well kept and great for exploring the coast, York, or the Dales.
The main problem was the shower block. Whilst clean it was in desperate need of a makeover and the water pressure was feeble. There was also no suitable shower to wash small children. The play park was also in poor repair and too small for such a large site.
SUITABLE FOR: Families
We found a warm reception when we arrived and after being booked in were taken to our pitch and had discussion on which way we would pitch. The assistant manager who had shown us to our pitch came back later to check that everything was ok for us.
The shower block was a bit of a walk from where we were pitched but didn't cause us any problems, the facilities were lovely and clean. The only comment we would make is that for the size of the site 3 showers in each of the mens & ladies facilities doesn't seem many in busy periods, again this didnt affect us and we never had to wait for a shower to be available.
The site is nice & flat and surrounded by a hedge, the only thing that would put us off going back was the very noisy crows & pigeons!
It's a very nice quiet site (apart from the crows & pigeons) and is ideally situated to get to a lot of different places and very handy for the park & ride if you want to go into York.
I picked this site at last minute for the Easter bank holiday and it was my first time in a Camping & Caravanning Club site. Fortunately, it was a great experience....
On arrival everything was explained by Barbara and then Dave escorted us to our pitch and explained a few more details. As I am used to years over camping in a small tent in sites where you just find a space it was really great to have a designated pitch and have someone so helpful.
The site itself was flat and although bust site we did not feel it was anything but peaceful.
The facilities were spotless and cleaned everyday between 1030am - 12 noon. Only issue is that one shower (out of three) in the ladies does not work adequately when the other two in operation - but this is signed. I never had any problem with waiting more than two minutes for a shower but for the site size I thought three showers was insufficient.
There is a mini play area - but this is one small slide and swings.
There is a little on site shop but not useful for me. Locally you have a well stocked Tesco Express in Strensall (2-3 miles away). There is also a great park for kids to play on.
In terms of location: Hovingham (prettiest village in Yorkshire) is right out of site, Castle Howard nearby and the Moors. We took the opportunity to visit Hovingham, Sewerby Hall (north of Bridlington) and York itself. Great deal on visiting Castle Museum in 2011 - kids go free and you can revisit without paying again for the next 12 months!
Will definitely visit this site again - with kids again and without - it's suitable for all!
DATE STAYED: April 2011
This site is perfect if you want to get away from it all. The staff were very Friendly and helpful. The site was very clean and well maintained. There is a small village within walking distance of the site which has a post office and a couple of pubs. It is an excellent base for visiting York city, as the site is only a short drive from the very cost effective York park and ride system.
DATE STAYED: August 2010
myself and my husband went there and dave and barbara could not do enough for us, when we were leaving we had no electrics from the car to caravan and dave was so very helpful he could'nt do enough for us he got it sorted and i could not thank him enough. i will be going there again. so a big big thanks to dave and barbara xx.
This site is far below club standards! The roadway around the site is in appalling state of repair. When it rained it flooded badly. The grounds could have done with a cut during our 4 days there. The grass was dry when we arrived.
The shower block is in dire need of restoration, it looks untidy and the upper levels full of spider webs. The water pressure in the showers was pathetic. One of the benches in the showers had rotting wood and a loose baton with a rusting screw exposed.
From a location point of view it is well positioned and access to York (using the excellent PNR) was superb. Likewise access to the Dales was easy.
In the current state of this site I'd advise anyone thinking of using this site to take this review into consideration.

The first time we went we were a bit apprehensive as we tend to stick to the sites we know. We had a warm welcome on arrival and the site was just what we wanted as we had brought our 2 small grandchildren. They could play on the kiddies play area and we could watch them from our caravan. We thought it was a safe site for small children and they were soon making friends.
So much so we are about to book again.
DATE STAYED: January 2008
A well run, clean site with all the amenities we needed.
A small enough site that the children could go to the play area by themselves and still be seen. We enjoyed visiting Beningbrough Hall (National Trust - lots for children to do, great playground) and Dalby Forest (Forestry Commission - lots of walks and mountain biking).
