This is my favourite site. For me the great attraction is the Barcaldine Forest which borders it. This is several square miles of walks and cyle routes around forest roads and paths. I have 2 border collies who think it is heaven because they normally get a 9 mile walk each morning we stay there. There is also a cycle track past the gate and the hourly bus service to Oban, or just to the shop in the next village. Don't rely on the WiFi though, it rarely seems to work unless you're in the toilet block, but who needs it with all those walks.

Probably the best Wardens we have come across, who could not do enough to help,
a credit to the club.
The site has a brand new toilet facility
block which is immaculately clean.
The site is surrounded by Forestry commision land with numerous walks, ideal for anyone with a dog.
Will definately return

I would highly reccommend this site. The staff were welcoming and extremely friendly and helpful. The shower block is relatively new and spotlessly clean. There is a well-stocked shop for milk, and the ingredients for a meal! Supermarkets and other shops eleven miles away. Ideal situation for walking, cycling, boating or just relaxing! Although a quiet site there were lots of children about who seemed to be having fun! A short drive to Oban where there are lots of eating places, boat trips and family activities to enjoy. We will return.

After leaving one wet campsite in Fife we arrived to this one just outside Oban on a very wet and misrable day with 3 children in tow. What a lovely welcome we had of Martin and Ellenor and a good old chin wag later(mostly about the terrible weather we were having) the sun started to shine through! All hands on deck and we managed to put up our tent without getting wet. Ellenor even made us a cuppa, which was very welcome. The site had a small park which the kids enjoyed and there were plenty of walks. The new toilet block was clean and the site was very well kept. I would recommend this site to fellow campers. Thankyou to Martin and Ellenor for making life a little easier during our stay.

my wife and i have been holidaying in Scotland for 7 years mostly on the east coast and this was our first stay on the west coast ,and i must say this was one of the best weeks holiday we have ever had, the oban site offers a quiet idyllic setting with lovely woodland walks and stunning surrounding views, it also offers peace and tranquility, with easy access to the the lovely town of oban, with ferry's to mull and surrounding islands ,the sites facilities are second to none being a brand new shower and toilet block, kept spotlessly clean, our stay at oban was made even more enjoyable by the friendly site managers Martin & Ellenor Fenwick.(by far the best site managers we have ever met ) Their knowledge of the area and places to visit was brilliant!!they even provided us with the correct midge repellant which really worked!! We will certainly be revisiting this Site again ,many, many thanks for a great stay !!!!

We stayed at this site with a motorhome accompanying two cyclists cycling LEJOG.Despite our unavoidable late arrival we were welcomed warmly and assisted with parking and topping up the water tank. The showers and toilets were brilliant.I would definitely recommend this site.

Have just returned yesterday from this site.It could be a beautiful site but currently leaves a lot to be desired. The site has just been refurbished and is currently unfinished. No LANDSCAPING done as yet, disabled facilities unfinished, builders rubble everywhere etc, etc.Holiday Manager blames the weather but I feel the term 'cowboy builders' might apply here. So disappointed as this is way below what one would expect from a club site. When complete I am sure it will be lovely but dont feel that it should even be open yet.Superb setting, stunning scenery with plenty of walks and cycle tracks in the surrounding area.Great for dogs.

This is a very quiet and peaceful site (although it wasn't full when we visited). It's ideal for people with dogs as the site adjoins a forest walk(s) and they can be accessed via the camp dogwalk. There are also separate cycle trails.
There's a brand new toilet/shower block with dish-washing facilities. These were kept very clean.
We managed to pitch in a very secluded area rather than the main tent field and rock pegs were necessary here, not sure about the other areas.
There's some great walks in the area but not a lot else as Oban is some distance away.
All in all, I would recommend this site and would stay there again.

my husband and myself stayed there in may 2010 and had originally booked for 4 nights. we ended up staying for eight!. i found this site to be very relaxing and ideal as we have two young labradors who greatly enjoyed being able to explore the beautiful sutherlands grove every day. they were well exercised and this for me was a massive plus as most sites usually only have a small dog exercise area and we have to scout about for something more suitable. there are 2 draw backs to this site, the distance from oban itself and the dreaded scottish midgie!!,but we survived thanks to the shop selling the best midge repellent thier is. the trip to oban was no trouble either as the scenery is stunning and you do not realise the distance anyway as you are to busy looking about you. we found loads to do to keep us occupied, but i enjoyed just relaxing at the site and sitting down by the river. the facilities may not be all mod con but are more than adequate and there is plenty of hot water available.

This is a small site of 75 pitches, set in a Victorian walled garden; right next to the site is Sutherland grove which is a large area that offers a range of woodland walks and Cycle routes through a diverse landscape of gigantic fir trees, crashing waterfalls, ancient Oakwood and working forest.
Across the road from the site is Barcaldine yacht storage and marine resource centre which gives access to shore line, but to be honest apart from beautiful sunsets over the marina there is not a lot there, the site is very isolated and is nowhere near Oban as the title suggest, the town of Oban is about 15 miles south of the site. Glencoe is about 20 miles away and Fort William is about 30 miles north.
We stayed here for 9 nights but to honest we could have stayed longer as there is lots to see and do and the site makes a great base for exploring the area, the site its self is like it suggests enclosed by a wall with big panel gates through arch at the entrance, the perimeter have the hard standing pitches and the middle is grass mainly for tents.
There is a new Tarmac road around the site and the toilet and washing facilities are served by a central block that is getting on in years but is quite pleasant and adequate.
There are no shops in the area but the site office does the basics eggs milk bread etc. and seemed reasonably stocked.
There is a small play area for the children but it is sited outside the entrance and I would think young children would have to be escorted there - it is also dog walking heaven as there is a gate from the site into Sutherlands grove next door.

A well kept clean site. Facilities include dated but clean toilet block. Shop with limited supplies, laundry room with 1 washing machine and 1 dryer. Didn't suit us, there wasn't much around. would suit stop over. Fire pit for BBQ was frowned upon. I'm sure there would be some people who would love it. No ball games, so not really catering for the family market.
