"Adjacent to the beach, Norman’s Bay site is a haven for walkers and nature lovers."
The lovely sand of Pevensey appears at low tide just outside our campsite at Norman's Bay. The nearby Pevensey Levels are known for nature conservation and agriculture and the beauty of the South Downs with its new National Park is to the south west.

What a lovely site! Wardens very welcoming and helpful. Facilities good and position excellent with direct access to Beach. A short walk to station gave easy access to several towns along coast. Can be a little windy. MH service point could be improved for access and drainage. Shame some users cannot comply with speed restrictions!

we stayed in april and although extremely windy and wet it didnt dampen a thoroughly
great weekend, the site was lovely and clean, staff were friendly and really helpful as to local takeaways as were unable to cook and they recommended a indian restaruant called Miah(awesome). also they were a great help when finding local places to visit would definately go back.

We had a great time. We had a choice of pitches upon arrival. We found the electrics were not working, but the warden fixed that within minutes of reporting it. The site had a pleasant open feel to it & having the train station within 10 minutes walk was excellent so no need to drive. The on site shop was the best stocked we'd ever experienced at any site. Just 1 small thing - the showers & toilets were over-ventilated with louvered doors & as it was a cold week that we were there, it was cold emerging from the shower!! Would not be a problem most of the year I suppose, but in really cold weather, it was unpleasant.
MEMBER FOUND TOWING: Easy
The Site Managers were brilliant and kept the site & facilities immaculate. Easy to use a a base to explore South Coast. Shame extra work has been put on the Site Managers nationally who now have to patrol the Toilet Blocks because Head Office have decided to run this 'clean toilet' campaign If there are members who want 5 star facilities then I suggest they go to hotels As to last reviewer, play by the site rules or simply leave grey water leaves smells etc not very nice to those who pitch after you sunshine

We stayed for a long weekend in mid march, just as the site opened. The owners were very friendly and helpful. A big thank you for helping us when our motorhome got stuck in mud. Lovely to have their own dog friendly beach and to be so close to it. We had a very enjoyable break and have just booked for a return visit in two weeks time. Highly recommended.

I will not be stopping at this site again due to the attitude of the wardens. I had a hose connected to my grey water outlet which in turn was running into the hedgerow which previously I had been encouraged to do. At 07.05 on the third morning of my stay, the warden and his wife crept round my motorhome and removed the hose. They did not have the courtesy to knock on the door and ask me to remove it. When confronted, it was obvious that they assumed we had left the site with our granddaughter who had been stopping with us and had left the site that morning in her car at 07.00.
I found this utterly and totally out of order.

We found the facilities a bit dated but the staff made up for this as they were very friendly and helpful particularly Kevin and Alyson
We visited this site in September and were greeted by friendly holiday managers who showed us to our pitch. The pitches are mainly grass and level although the ground is a little bumpy in places. It is ideally located for the beach which is pebbly and just across a quiet road. There is a small shop on site sellling a few basic items. Ideally located for Eastbourne and Brighton.

Friendly site and very clean. We enjoyed having the beach so close and it was lovely watching sun go down with smell of bbq's around us on site and on the beach.
Childrens playground needs to be more interesting as there is only one slide and two swings, a little dissapointing. Fairly quite at night but town very short drive away. Have visited here twice now in space of 3 weeks with my family and enjoyed our time. Our stays were short breaks of 2 and 3 days, any longer and my children of 6 and 9 may have become a little bored without venturing off site to explore other areas. Kids did enjoy being woken up by the sound of cows and sheep. Would definitely go again for mini break.

Just had 3 fantastic nights here. Unbelievable coast on your doorstep. Friendly welcome, escorted to our pitch by bicycle, no criticisms at all...just perfect. Easy to visit Battle, Hastings and Bexhill one way out of campsite. Brighton, Eastbourne, Pevensey and Lewes the other way out of the campsite. WILL definately go again, and book in advance as we were amazed how packed the site was for late september. Lots of happy campers .
We arrived on 1st Sept still during school holidays to be advised that the western toilet block would be closing the following day. Duly complained and the Site Manager arrived to advise that the minimum standards of the Club would be met if the block was closed therefore it was closing. As it happened more units arrived, and it stayed open for an additional 20 hours. However the site has 3 shower blocks and it seems unreasonable that 2 are closed during the school summer holidays.
The Western end toilet block is ole and would do with refurbishment. The childrens play area is very poor, and whilst the land the site is on does not slope there are some significant changes of levels within the site, with some peoples caravans grounding as they were towed across the site.
As mentioned no recycling on the site, didnt use the shop. The Star Inn is excellent, and its a great location for getting to Eastbourne.
Unfortunately the site is let down by its Manager, several people o-site were complaining about his attitude, and a recent conversation with a neighbour elicited the response that they would not be returning to the site following the attitude of the Manager when they complained about the unevenness of their pitch.
What a great site this is, a stones throw from the beach, the staff are welcoming and extremely helpful. The site is well maintained and the toilets and showers kept clean. Wherever you are pitched on the site there is a bin area near and these are regularly emptied. Not far from Eastbourne, Brighton and Hastings this is a great place to use as a base for sight seeing. We loved it so much we will definitely be
returning at some point in the future.
We have just returned home after a really good week at Normans Bay. After reading some of the other reviews We were a little apprehensive about what we would find there, but any fears that these reviews may have triggered were absolutely unfounded. The site and facilities were spotless, and the staff were polite and friendly. We didnt hear any barking dogs, and we didnt come across any pot holes in the approach road. The showers worked absolutely fine, and the pitches were relatively flat, certainly nothing to make a song and dance about!
The small privately run site shop is very handy for the odd item, including fishing tackle, and there is a bigger shop on the static site, five minutes walk up the road.
We found an excellent place to eat in Pevensey Bay, namely the Ocean View Bakery and Restaurant. We enjoyed several breakfasts there,as ther opened at seven am!
The Star pub in the other direction was in walking distance either by the narrow road, or much more safely and more interesting, along the beach and then across the fields via the pedestrian railway crossing and the styles. We found this way quicker too as there was no waiting for the crossing gates!
Eastbourne and Beachy Head were just minutes by car one way, and Bexhill and Hastings wernt far the other way, although its advisable to not take the coast road along Herbrand walk on a busy weekend due to its narrowness and cars jostling for parking on the beach.
One more thing, follow the map to the site thats in the Your Place in the Country book, rather than the route on your sat nav, because the sat nav route is narrow, and takes you across a railway crossing that is closed for longer than its open. Also there are speed bumps all the way from the railway crossing to the site entrance.
Thankyou to the site staff. We had a good week, and would most certainly stay there again if we are holidaying in that area.
My husband an I visited the site with my sister and her partner so we had asked for two pitches together, which the staff were only pleased to do for us.
Clean and inviting site but very uneven for tents. Fresh mole hills were present on our pitch which we had to flaten down before puting the tent up.
Very windy site that we and others had experiance of on our first night when we were nearly blown away, getting up at 4am to put extra guy ropes on our tent!
Toilets were fairly clean, but one block only had one hand drier for six toilets which only worked very slowly.
A total lack of 'Recycling' facilities was a bit disapointing. Bins were regularly emptied and were within easy reach of pitches.
Beach was great and just over a dune. Swiming was fantastic, even in September with some lovely sun.
Loads of places to visit in the local area.
If a 'Take-away' is in order we could recommend 'Happy Dragon Inn' chinese in Pevensey.
Friendly team greeted us on arrival and put us on a good pitch close to the toilet blocks. Told that these blocks were going to be the only ones open as the majority of those on site would be leaving the following day and the site would be quietening down. However the reverse happened, and the site filled up over the week again, but the one block remained closed at the bottom of the site. Tried the Wi-Fi but not able to connect, called the company up and they told me to drive around the site until I got a signal. Told the technician that I was not impressed with the service and wanted my money back which I paid for over the internet. Still waiting. So wouldn't recommend using Wi-Fi on site.
We would stay at the site again as we had fantastic weather for September and so walked miles.
After reading the reviews this site was a bit of a disappointment. We were prepared for the slightly windy location and the "retro" facilities as we were at that end of the site but the showers were barely a trickle and the men's facilities, although clean, had a nasty stink that affected the washing up area also. Pitches, although level could hardly be described as flat!
The play area was limited and the rule of no ball games was not enforced at all - difficult to explain to our four year old who wanted her ball out but since we had commented on the others we could not let her.
Access to the beach was of course excellent and sand castles at low tide were great entertainment. Location is perfect for visits to both Eastbourne and Drusillas, both of which we did.
Not really sure what it was about the site that disappointed, just didn't feel the other campers were as friendly, maybe due to the size of it.

Arrived on a very blustery day between rain showers. Got a nice reception and swiftly shown our pitch (miles from the toilets!) it was a busy bank holiday weekend though and we were witty another family so obviously space was limited so I can't blame the management for the fact we had a bit of a hike to the toilets with the kids. The toilet blocks were well kept and in one block the showers were a lever rather than the endless button pressing. They were warm and clean, as were the toilets. The shop sold everything but was expensive (and a bit dark inside). The size of the site meant I did worry about my five year old on her bike but it kept me fit trying to locate her! She liked the fact that she could get a good cycle round the block. I was concerned that the bins were often overflowing but i also saw staff emptying them a lot so maybe it was just a lot of people genereating a lot of rubbish! I would like to see some recycling evident as i felt awful throwing everything in the same bin. The site is very convenient for the beach and one night there was an amazing firework display. I would come back again.
SUITABLE FOR: Families,Active break
The site was wonderful and we had a great time the only very downside was the lack of recycling facilities.... all the rubbish was collected together (and there was lots that piled up) and the staff did their best to keep on top of it but even though we were desperate to recycle even the basics it was not possible. We ended up taking out bottles and paper onto a friends house down the road. what a shame given the concern the C&C club have for the environment. other than that it was a great site and would recommend it!
SUITABLE FOR: Families
We had 3 nights at the site. We were placed near the Wardens motorhomes & DOGS ! The dogs barking was very frequent and did go on for long periods of time which we found very disturbing, I know one of the wardens was aware we were not happy but he made no apology . On the morning we left I was going to go to reception to politely complain but it was closed. We have stayed on numerous sites over the years and have never felt the need to complain before.
SUITABLE FOR: Groups
Our fourth visit and will not be our last! We came as a small family group and the staff put us as close to each other as they could. They were very helpful with pitching. We love the close proximity to the beach - the dogs enjoy the sea. Considering we visited at the height of the season, it was quiet at night. The toilet blocks were regularly cleaned and checked and there was plenty of hot water. Beach good for kite flying.
SUITABLE FOR: Families,Older couples,Groups
Any praise we give would be inadequate to express what we feel about the site.
It was our first time at Normans Bay and we will be going back.
Friendly, helpful and welcoming staff, well kept and run site and clean facilities which created an ambience that promoted a homely and non eleitist evironment, which was obivious to not only ourselves but other users, we now have several new friends.
Our grateful thanks to all at Normans Bay for a relaxing and great week.
Very disapointed by the clean water filling area which had the grey water area alongside. To fill the clean water barrel it had to stand in the grey water.
This is third world standard not acceptable with site health.
MEMBER FOUND TOWING: Moderate
well kept site cheerfull staff very clean showers and toilets had a very relaxing holiday and will come again

We had a great time at this site, level pitch, good disabled facilities for my husband and some fun times on the beach for Petroc ( the dog ) and myself. A real bonus was the super international feel to the site with tourers from Europe. A great place to meet nice people from home & abroad.
SUITABLE FOR: Families,Older couples,Active break,Peaceful break,Younger couples
The site was clean and well kept. It was good to see lots of families there and children being able to cycle safely. The managers were friendly and made sure we were happy with our pitch. Very short walk from the beach. Good food available at The Castle in Pevensey village. Site just 15 min walk to train station for trains to Eastbourne and Hastings. This was our second visit and will most certainly visit again.
We have just returned from another great weekend at Normans Bay. This site is excellent for a lazy weekend. With the beach just across the road you can take a cup of tea with you without it getting cold!
There is a lot to do in the surrounding area as well. We went to Hastings and stumbled across Pirate Day and a Red Arrows display.
The site was clean and tidy as usual, the staff friendly and helpful, and I didn't once have to queue for a shower. Hats off to the Staff for looking after the site so well and for arranging a fly-past by the Red Arrows on Monday as we were packing to leave!!
We have been to Normans Bay a few times now and we have always found everything to our satisfaction. We will be going there again. The only disappointing thing is the wind, it can be windy. Which is not the campsites fault. The planting of hedges could help.
Our second visit to this site but we still found plenty of places to visit and things to do in the area. Our thanks to the friendly cheerful staff for all their hard work behind the scenes to keep the site beautifully clean and tidy.
Very nice very friendly, could do with another toilet block.
DATE STAYED: April 2012
Had a brilliant time with plenty of things to do and plenty of sites to see.(would reccommend going to visit the seven sisters)
The location of the site is nice and quiet (with the site having its own private beach). The site staff were friendly on arrival. The facilities were clean and tidy. The only fault about the site and with it being close to the beach and with hardly no shelter it was very windy and as we were pitching the tent we was finding it very difficult resulting one of the poles snapping. But lucky enough i managed to temporally fix the pole. Worth noting as you are close to site be carefull along the small roads leading upto the site and the train crossings.
DATE STAYED: July 2008
All best spaces booked.
you need to book with the site i did not
Staff friendly and helpful. Site well looked after. Facilities good and plentiful and always clean. Very close to beach. The wind can be a bit of a problem at times not much shelter on site but all in all a great site and a good base to visit attractions of E. Sussex. Would go back.
DATE STAYED: June 2012
It isn't a promising approach to this site, how our hearts sank! It's poorly sign-posted and the approach road is rutted, winding and far from appealing. However we soon saw the beauty of the site itself, between the sea and the salt-marshes, and appreciated the peace, plus there's loads to do within easy reach. Public transport, car or walking, there's a weeks-worth of scope easily here. It is a truly friendly site too, both staff and other campers. Lovely clean facilities. Highly recommended.
Soon as we arrived the staff was very nice and pleasent. We were shown personally to our pitch (which was a good size), we were not far from facilities toilets, showers and washing up area which were kept very clean at all times. There is also a room where you can meet up for a chat or play ping pong,( bats at office for a small fee )
You only need to cross the road ( not a busy one ) to the shingle beach.
Lots of places to visit not far from campsite Brighton ,Eastbourne and not forgetting Hastings which is a must as it is a beautifull town.
Will we be going again ..... 100% yes.
DATE STAYED: August 2011
We unfortunately chose an extremely windy and wet time, but think the site was far too barren, with virtually no shelter - our campervan was rocking in the wind and some hedges would have been a good idea. The first night a gang of kids spent hours shouting and running round the loo near us till well after 10pm and continued often in the daytime - why not put up a barrier so they can't do this? It must annoy lots of people. The loos were always clean but the door was open all the time, so never warm - even my hardy husband was put off showering. Compared to other Club sites I felt this was not up to the usual high standard. Also several people asked us if we knew where the CDP was as there was no site map provided. Later I found one stuck to the Reception window - surely easy enough to give one out to new arrivals.
Just back from an enjoyable 5 night stay. Thought the campsite was very well thought out. It was full over Jubilee weekend but didn't feel crowded or noisy. The facilities we used were always clean. Great to have the beach, although the draw back to this is the wind! The play park wasn't the best, and dint keep our 3 and 5 yr old amused, this could be improved
This site is the second Camping and Caravan club site used this year we went to Canterbury at Easter, and have found booking in at both sites an absolute shambles with units queuing out onto the road because the staff do not know how to handle card payments, and a total lack of organisation in getting units sorted out safely, the Toilets are in less than a clean condition with a total lack of quality or quantity for such a large almost overcrowded site, club rules are not obeyed so what's the point in having them, disposal of waste water is difficult as lifting a waste master over a brick ledge when it is full is no easy task, and the entrance road has large pot holes in it, this site is overpriced with no value for your money.
SUITABLE FOR: Younger couples
We stayed for two weeks and had a great time. kids loved the play area and we loved the peaceful atmosphere. Toilets/showers nice and clean however busy at peak times but water always nice and hot. As mentioned by others we too have a dog at we where very surprised at how many dog owners on the "dog walk" and beech dont clean up. Owning a dog is a responsibility please make sure you do the right thing!! (rant over) all in all a very nice place. We have just booked again for 2013.
SUITABLE FOR: Families,Groups,Peaceful break
Just returned from one of our regular visits to Normans Bay. Grass cut, showers excellent, flower beds weeded and road mended!!Site manager, his wife and the team very helpful at all times.Keep up the good work guys. Will be back soon. Just one thing.... Please please clean up after your dogs on site and on the beach. We own 2 dogs and are alarmed at the mess on the beach.
DATE STAYED: May 2012
This was our first stay at Norman's Bay & my husband and I, along with our 6 year old LOVED it!
The staff were very friendly & welcoming on our arrival & told us about the local area & what was available.
The toilets & showers were spotless & the washing up area was also very clean.
It was nice & peaceful which is what we like, but if you are after an action-packed site with entertainment ect. then this isn't for you.
Eastbourne & Hastings aren't far away & we had some lovely walks & found some amazing history.
There is no shortage of shops nearby so if you find the on-site shop a little expensive, then Asda, Tesco ect are only a short drive away.
The stoney beach is just across the road & my little boy loved throwing stones into the sea, he didn't even notice that there wasn't any sand!
All in all, a great site with amazingly clean toilets & showers. We'll definately stay again.. thank you.
We haven't been to the site for several years and wondered what we would find. We were pleasantly surprised that it hadn't changed at all. I was slightly concerned after reading the reviews that there would be a problem with the showers, but these appeared to have been rectified. My only complaint is the entrance, there are great pot holes in the tarmac not easy to negoiate with a caravan on tow and why the two flower troughs in what I would call the exit flow. Not very easy when something is trying to drive in. We even had one instance when it was blocked by a camper van the driver having leaft the vehicle to go into the shop. Also the gardens at the entrance could to with weeding and caring for they looked awful. The staff are hard working and pleasant.
SUITABLE FOR: Families,Older couples,Active break,Peaceful break
Stayed there at the weekend with my husband, had a very warm welcome despite the awful weather. Will definately go again when in the area!
SUITABLE FOR: Families,Older couples,Groups,Active break,Peaceful break
We have just come home after our first Motorhome weekend away and want to say how impressed we were with Norman's Bay, the site was immaculate and the staff were really helpful and friendly.
We will definitely recommend this site to anyone who asks.
Thank you again for making this such a memorable weekend. All the dark clouds seemed pass away to the north.
Nice friendly welcome. Toilets were cleaned several times a day and dish wash area was spotless. Shame that the men's showers were awful - one block had 2 showers and the newer block only had 1 that worked properly - such a shame as it would appear that this could be easily fixed.
Arrived lunchtime on a Thursday before Easter break. Dissapointed that grass was not cut after the winter break. One shower was not working in the newer block. other block was very cold. During stay another shower became out of use and the older shower block was shut for maintenance which left one shower for all ladies to use!! What with the strongest winds we have ever camped in as well, This site offers very little or no shelter from wind. Something that a few hedges grown periodically would massively help. Why is that having the whole of the winter to do maintenance and to ensure all facilities up and running for the Easter holidays Normans Bay cannot achieve this??
SUITABLE FOR: Older couples
Nice site, close to the beach. But the pictures on the front of the website are deceiving of the campsite the beach is not sandy but as it does say the sand does come out, but only at low tide. Not recomended for families, as a strict no ball games rule is said with a common phrase "I don't want to be an ogre" overall nice clean site, but wouldnOt recomended for family's.
DATE STAYED: April 2008
A bit surprised to read the negative reviews of the staff as we found them friendly and helpful.
I needed to use the Internet connection and the assistant warden warned that reception was not good and offered to allow us to move our pitch if I could not get a signal. They were also helpful with regard to safe cycle routes and train times. Excellent service!
The facilities (only one block was open, but there was no queuing in October) were clean. I guess, compared to the latest facilities in some other Club sites, these are not quite as good, hence the 4 star rating.
There is lots to see and do in the vicinity and reasonably safe cycle routes from the camp.
We would use it again.
DATE STAYED: October 2011
Was handed a site rule leaflet on arrival - not too friendly !!
Only one toilet block open and site was full by the weekend. Not much room between pitches and site is not laid out to it's best advantage. Train noise not really an issue. However beware of the miserable faced warden on his bike - his attitude spoilt our stay. won't be returning.
DATE STAYED: September 2011
Stayed for 5 nights this time, excellent facilities brilliant HSMs cant fault the site. My wife is disabled, nothing was too much trouble for thr staff. Thank you a site the club should be really proud of.
Stayed as a backpacker for a week during the Airbourne festival, Site team were very welcoming and kindly amended my booking at short notice due to a family illness. Due to this I was looking for a bit of privacy. Whilst I will always say hello to fellow campers and have a chat with them, the couple staying opposite me in their camper van and their friends could only be described as intrusive and harassing. Myself and my tent seemed to be their only source of conversation and even came to the point of one of them coming over to my tent and looking directly at me to see what I was doing, and one of the others stated they would take the tent with them if it was still there when they went home. The concept that I was backpacking and did not have a car seemed alien to them. They left one night before me and that last night was the only one I really enjoyed. Unfortunately due to this, I felt like a prisoner whilst on the site and stayed out a lot of the time as I wanted some time to myself. I would like to visit the site again, however this experience would make me very wary. This was not the fault of the wardens, however please remember that people despite staying in tents are still entitled to some privacy and certainly NO HARASSMENT. No problems with noise from trains despite close proximity. Toilet and washing facilities surprisingly sufficient considering how busy the site was.
We are regular visitors to this site normally 7 or 8 weekends per year during the months of june, july and august for the past 3 years but still we are never welcomed as regulars instead we feel we are putting them out but once we are pitched we dont bother much with the camp site staff. As members we like the ease of booking on line although you do need to book well in advance as they fill up quickly especialy bank holidays and school holidays. I book all my weekends around end of November or December in doing so you might think you get a good site but not so we usualy end up round the back beside the entrance to the dog walk area a busy area with dog walkers and a constant smell of dog poo, we dont have a dog but people with dogs have the prime site round the front of the park we dont understand that.
All in all we do have a good stay as we keep ourselves to ourselves, we find the old toilet block cold dirty and nasty but when the newer block is opened it's much better but can be a queue at busy times. The park itself is flat, this year a lot of new electric points, a one way system for cars althrough the park staff dont abide by it, one law for campers and one for themselves. The camp site itself is close to the beach which is good but is open to the elements, can be very windy. Has a little shop on site which is good as you always forget something has all the basic, there is also a fish and chips van comes most saturdays during peak season but be prepared to wait a very long time. Sunday mornings are not very peacefull or restfull as it is rush hour to leave before 12noon and then the tractor comes out with a lawn mower attached for a pointless grass cutting session each sunday.Nno 7th day rest here
DATE STAYED: July 2011
Fantastic Site!!!So close to the Sea and Pevensy Bay town center. Yes, as per previous reviews, there are trains running all the time, but as they are Electric ones, after a while, you dont notice them. Dont get the (number 55) bus down the road from the site into Eastbourne as it takes and hour via lots of industrial estates, walk into Pevensy Bay and catch the number 99...it takes 20 mins!!!!Our only moan is that one of the shower blocks were closed for maintenance, but they still closed the remaining one at 10.30-12.00 for cleaning, and as there is only 3 shower cubicles, it was a mad dash, followed by a queue to get washed before they shut!! Superb hardstanding pitch with plenty of room. It rained and was blowing a gale, but we still had a great time!! Will deffinatly go back to this site.
Great location. Let down by unsupervised children making noise 'til after 9pm around the play area. This made it very difficult for me to settle my own 2 children (7 and 5) who I put to bed at 8pm.
As first time campers we found the staff excellent. They were really helpful in giving us a pitch that we could shelter from the wind and boy can it get windy! Everything was really clean but the queue for the shower was quite long and if the site had been full it would have been very long, but heh it's all part of the fun. Thoroughly enjoyed a meal at The Beach Tavern in Pevensey and The Star Inn Normans Bay. The guy in the on-site shop was fantastic when I drove over our camping stove and rumaged up a replacement from out the back and didn't charge a fortune for it. Loved every minute of our stay and will be going back.
SUITABLE FOR: Families,Groups,Active break,Younger couples
great site next to beach, ideal for children and dogs, only negative comment
piches are very close and poorly laid out,we had to weave in and out of other
units just to get to the tarmac road in the site. Will return soon and would reconmend it.
Well a very busy and regimental run site. We stayed for just under a week and had relatively good weather, can be very windy though with been so close to the sea.
Majority of pitches were flat which made a refreshing change, quite difficult to get a decent picture on a digital tv, did manage to get 1 - 4 on normal analogue tv though.
Didn't have much need for any assistance from the site managers, but bewarned do not go the wrong way round the one way system as you will get told off as a fellow camper did to her peril....
The shop is well stocked although the owner isn't always happy and could do with labelling more products with prices. Chip van looked yummy on saturday night, but to no avail as at 6pm they had no cod or haddock left just huss - which I believe is like eel:((( so I ventured in to Pevensey for our supper and found the local chippy which was another adventure.
Toilets and showers were excellent and all cleaned at different times so there was no need to be caught short.
Lovely to be so close to the sea, but just a too big and noisy site for us, prefer sites with more character.
Would of liked to of found more information on local fishing sites as mentioned in the description - not everyone has the gear for sea fishing. We eventually found a lovely fishery just out side of Hailsham, yet no information was provided on the site for this.
Had great days out at Drusillas and Knockhatch.
Looking forward to our next trip out closer to home.
SUITABLE FOR: Families,Groups,Active break
Having read former reviews we went armed with ear plugs, which was just as well as we were next to the railway line. They were also handy for the late night noisy tvs and the early children's noise as we were also next to the playground. Units were very close and privacy was a problem. We found all the facilities okay, the new toilet/shower blocks not that different to the old ones, but we didn't have to wait long and always had hot water no matter what time we went. If you have children with you and want to be near a beach you will be happy. If you want a bit of peace and quiet, you wont. The site could have been cleaner but this is down to the people on it - there was a lot of dog mess and the loos were dirty at times, I guess both down to unsupervised children. Maybe a little reminder to campers that it is their responsibility to ensure this doesn't happen?
SUITABLE FOR: Families,Groups,Younger couples
The site was very busy when we came for a week in early August. Unfortunately I was walking with crutches following an operation and it was very difficult getting to the toilet block without being knocked over by children on bikes, and scooters all going much much faster than the 5mph limit for cars. The number of pitches is too many for the size of the site now that caravans/motorhomes and tents are getting enormous, therefore causing guy ropes to encroach on the adjoining pitch. I think it might have been quieter on the hard shoulder of the M1.
First C&CC site I had visited and was impressed by the welcome and way staff catered to my needs - wifi, dog walking etc. When I asked to extend my stay they went out of their way to accomodate my request and keep the same pitch although it was a very busy time. Must disagree and say Fish & Chips van is a rip off considering the site is on the coast and weren't very good - Indian that delivers is far better value for money. Have booked to visit again in September when I hope it won't be quite as windy. Although being sited right next to the old toilet blocks I found NO problems with noise etc. the worst came from young children with stabilisers on their bikes riding around the road. We had plenty of space for our folding camper and car on our pitch and never felt crowded - perhaps some people's expectations are higher but they should visit some of the sites we have been on. Would say it needed about eight pushes on the button for a shower in the old block but so what, it was still wet and did the job. Charming and accomodating staff added to the pleasure of camping and access to Sovereign Harbour with it's dog friendly eating places made it a lovely holiday apart from the wind which seemed very variable in direction!
Another great break at Normans Bay and the sun came out all week with no wind :) .. Thanks to Brian and Jill who have got the site and the checking in running smoothly over the last 2 years and made some positive changes.
Sites good for fishing and just getting away from the stress of day to day living..
Number of good pubs in walking distance with Pevensey Bay near and the Star Inn in the other direction.
Small convenience store onsite that sells your milk, newspapers and daily essentials.
Agreed with earlier comments regarding dogs and being a dog owner I can only agree, but thats down to owners than the site...
Very friendly staff, taken straight to our pitch. Size was good, but ground was very uneven and grass was a bit lacking in the area we were (would have been unconfortable in tent) also on a slight slope. Beach was over the road and was nice, not sandy but this is what we expected. 2 Shower/Toilet blocks both were clean and had everything needed, closed at different times for cleaning so never without facilities. Shop was well stocked and priced well. There is a train line next to the site so tent users would probably have been awaken early in the mornings. 10 min walk to train station with trains to Brighton, Hastings and Eastbourne passing, so good for seeing the area. 5MPH speed limit was observed by all except children on bikes who were racing round, didnt cause us an bother but expected an accident at some point. Good location, would expect to return again.
Booked this site as it was on the coast for a holiday with our grand daughter. We were disappointed that the beach was shingle, which was fine for us but not for buckets and spades - maybe this could be made clearer to save others making same mistake. I also agree with previous comment that baby bath is no more than large sink Great site for visiting surrounding places of interest on South coast. We enjoyed our stay but felt that the site had far too many pitches with regard to the facilities.
SUITABLE FOR: Older couples,Active break
Camped there for two nights but was cramped at one end of site had difficulty getting car out as got blocked in by other tents . Ground is very uneven if you have a modern tent it is likely it will get damaged as ours did. We also witnessed others struggling with tents on uneven ground avoid toilet areas as youths hang around at night. Also dogs off leads and children running around the back of tents screaming seams to set dogs off barking. There is also a railway very close so don't expect much sleep. We have never been so cramped having to ask campers to move cars , wind breaks and guy lines in just so you can pop out is annoying for everyone. I think it's important to get flat ground as most modern light weight tents require this. New tent or good tent this site is not for you.
Rather disappointing . Almost like being in a field with no scenery. the showers were a lot to be desired with the water pressure being low, but they were extremely clean. The staff very friendly indead. A well stocked shop yes, with lovely fresh rolls every day mmm. Sadly the public transport left a lot to be desired , a good 15 walk to either bus or train. We struggled to find a farm shop although the official magazine says there are several farm shops in the area. Good site for children too.

Another good site that has something for everyone close by.Staff were friendly and helpfull ,site was clean although some of the grass areas could be tidied and trimmed a bit better.toilets and showers are clean and hot even in the older block.
Only down side which is not down to the site is the dog owners who either do not clean up after the dog or who do leave the bags on the beach (there are numerous dog bins) so why does this happen on this beach?
This is a very nice site in a beautiful area. The staff are very helpful and friendly.
However, a few points to take note of:
There didn't seem to be any recycling facilities on site, so all rubbish went in together. Not great for the ecologically minded!
If you are taking small children, the sink in the parent and child room is very small, only the size of a normal washing up sink. If our 18 month old had been any bigger, it would have been a problem.
Lastly, the site can get very windy so ensure you take plenty of extra pegs with you!
Despite these points we would thoroughly recommend this site!
SUITABLE FOR: Families,Older couples,Active break,Younger couples
A very friendly and busy site but no queues at all for the excellent and clean facilities even at peak times of the day. A word of warning to campers would be that the site is open to the elements and when the wind picked up our tent was battered (but survived!). If you're camping on a standard pitch the bottom end of the site by the newer washblock is more sheltered and would be a better bet than the very open side of the site near the kids play area. Also, for families the play area is limited to a slide and a couple of swings but with an excellent beach and coastal walks literally over the road this wasn't much of an issue on our short stay. Onsite shop is good for last minute bits and ice creams and there are decent supermarkets 10 minutes away by car. A great site, just be prepared for that strong coastal breeze!!
A really lovely campsite, busy but not overcrowded. Couldn't believe how close the beach was - you literally walk out of the campsite gates and you're on the beach! The staff were friendly although they failed to point out that it was a minimum of 2 nights stay so unknowingly paid for 2 nights when I was only staying for 1! Also, although the location is perfect for backpackers because it's only about half a mile from Norman's Bay train station, trains don't operate from that station on Sundays so beware if you're coming by public transport!
I was very happy with the stay, the staff were all very friendly and helpful,
The only problem was that we had to take our chemical toilet pass the office to the chemical toilet point to empty it,
Why can't they have it on the side of the old toilet block just like they have on the new block which at the other end of the site.
Another wonderful holiday with site manager's Brian@Gill,the area his exiting many places to visit. And were they put us on the site an usell of activity.Best holiday this year'THANKS
SUITABLE FOR: Older couples,Peaceful break
Windy very windy during our stay rippped the awning it was so strong, but the site is excellent for visits around east Sussex and Kent good pubs along the beach The Moorings the beach is stoney but not a problem it's very nearby clean and tidy modern wash/shower blocks good roads on site could not hear any trains in the night as some have said we were near the road but not much moving on that good routes in and out of the area for trips around and out to castles etc I will be back
Lovely but very busy site. Very friendly and helpful staff. Have been disapointed on previous visits as large noisy groups have been able to pitch closely together. Not this time, extra pitches were squeezed in however current staff were very careful to stick to the 20ft rule. Facilities are kept very clean and I found that the showers did not flood as they have done in the past. Previous review stated that there were no private washing cubicles in the new block however I found there to be some as I used them. Direct access to a quiet beach and plenty of places to visit within cycling distance. We had a lovely weekend and would love to visit again now that the staff are managing it as the club intended it to be run. Well done to you all and keep it up.
Just enjoyed great weekend at our first club site. Site very close to pebble beach giving long walks in each direction. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Found showers in older block very poor, but could be that I went at the wrong time. Would go back.
Was on site at the same time as the previous reviewer and have to agree with her comments whole heartly. The day we arrived the staff could not have been more helpful especially as we had to move our pitch due to the very strong winds.Yes one toilet block is old but is very clean and had no problems with the showers both in heat and pressure(used them off peak times)There is a very good dog walk its just a shame some lazy dog owners don`t pick up after their dogs especially as there are plenty of dog bins placed around the walk(we have 3 dogs )We will definately be visiting this site mor regularly in future.
I had a fantastic weekend at this site. It was my first solo camping trip with my dog. On arrival the led me to a nice pitch and the man helped me put up the tent. There are two lots of toilet/shower facilities; one is more modern than the other, but they were clean at all times. The washing up area was under cover but had no door so insects got in and around the sinks, which was the only negative. Staff were extremely friendly, but not overbearing and they allowed me to extend my stay to 3pm so I could walk seven sisters.
There is a beach near by and Eastbourne is a short distance by car. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and intend to go back with my husband later this year.
We received a friendly welcome from the Club staff in the office. However, we felt that the instructions regarding exactly where to pitch were delivered in an unnecessarily strict fashion (I felt a bit like I was back at school!). That said, we did appreciate that on a large site it is important to be firm to keep everyone happy and things running smoothly. That small niggle aside, the site was spotless and well run. The wash facilities were plentiful and kept very clean for such a large site and the block itself was very warm despite the appalling weather that we had during our stay. The site is very large and we did feel a little crowded in on our pitch. We were visiting on the May Bank Holiday and the Club staff mentioned they were at full capacity and I'm sure at stay at a less busy time would allow for tents and caravans to be more spread out. The beach which is next to the campsite is beautiful albeit very stony but the children had great fun collecting stones and shells. It is quite windy being so near to the beach but quite acceptable. I would concur with other reviewers that the fish and chips were delicious and the lady running the van was amazing at remembering what everyone ordered. Be warned though that, if like our friends from Suffollk, you are not used to prices in the South of England, the fish and chips are very expensive but worth it nonetheless!

We have just returned from 5 days at this site and I would like to say we think it is wonderful. Might be windy at times but warden was so helpful in finding the best option visa vie the wind direction and our unit. So near to the sea and within walking distance of a number of places to eat. Facilities excellent and very clean. Pitches a good size. We had such a peaceful stay and nearby Eastbourne and Beachy Head made for a couple of very enjoyable outings. To find fault with this site would just be tantamount to nit picking.
Enjoyed our stay, but the old toilet block needs replacing, showers presure is very poor in these, only 4 cubical with wash basins, none of the toilet blocks cubicals had enough hooks for your clothing & towels, compared to other sites we have stayed at they all have 3 double hooks in every wash cubical & showers cubical, how ever the new toilet block sited at the other end of the site, had no cubical hand basins, although the showers were better but did have a tendancey to flood the floor area & seven showers over a very busy Bank hoilday & school holiday peak season, is still not enough.
Hope this helps with your stay Thanks MA
We had a lovely week at this site, although very windy did not deter from enjoying ourselves. Very friendly owners, will certainly go back again.

Love this site, immaculate, very friendly and helpful staff, Love the peace and quiet here, perfect location, Pevensey Castle about a ten min walk, the local court house museum a must. A beautiful place and will definately return soon
Full marks for printing my previous comments which perhaps were not complimentary about having to pay additional charges which in my view were unwarranted and in the circumstances unnecessary.
However, we will be back - if they will have us!!!
DATE STAYED: April 2011
Arrived on Royal Wedding day for our second visit to the site, the previous one being in a tent. Staff really helpful....I witnessed the man who shows you to your pitch advising a lady in a campervan with a pop up top as to which way to face her van so as to get less wind blow on the top.
I agree that there could be a few more showers and the water flow is a tad lame - my other half said that he didn't dare wash his hair in the drip and he has a number 3 all over!!!
Beach is wonderful if you have a dog although they must be kept on leads on the path near the houses which a polite resident advised us.....however at the bottom of the slope near the water is public beach and they can be off lead.
Local amenities are great and the Marina just before Eastbourne is a fabulous place to while away an afternoon.
We will definately return.
We had a lovely 4 day stay, our first night the site was full and very busy, after the Bank holiday the site was much quieter; we were not disturbed by the trains, and loved the easy access to the beach,The showers were lovely and hot and all the facilities were kept very clean. We will be back,
Overall I enjoyed staying here and would stay again. I was a bit concerned about the noise from trains having read a previous post but I barely noticed them. Staff were friendly and courteous, facilities clean. The only negative comment is that the number of showers available (5 male, 5 female) was a bit inadequate and had to queue for showers most times during the 3 night stay. Plenty of places to visit in the area but the beach is also very pleasant when want a cheap day out. The Fish and Chip van that visits onsite (on Saturdays only) was 1st class too!
All staff at this park were great. It would have been better if you are made aware that all works at this site are not completed: ie laying of electrics turfing, outside paintwork on toilet areas:noisy road and most of all trains running next to site all night. If all this is made available to members ratings may be higher.
Corrently on site enjoying 5 day break. Very nice site where staff work hard under what appears to be s strick regime.
Overnight parking and storage areas were available when I arrived but the Holiday Site Manager insisted "there is no other place to park" our additional unit (a small trailer tent) for the night and I was obliged to pay extra for a family of five who were not due to arrive until the following day
To keep the peace I reluctantly paid up but I thought it was a complete rip off
This is a well run site, with very friendly staff, it is on the beach with sheep fields on both sides, a well stoked small shop on site, will be spending lots of weekends at this site definitely recommend this site
The position, facilities and staff on this site were totally acceptable. To us, however, it was let down by the presence of the railway line. The trains did not seem to stop running during the night, and although they were small passenger units, they seemed very noisy. Unfortunately, we will not be using the site again.
SUITABLE FOR: Families,Younger couples
This was our second year and even though the weather was awful this time round, we're still looking forward to our two weeks visit again in August 2011. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly and they worked tirelessly to keep everyone happy and the facilities clean. If you love the beach life, this is the place to go! My children have made some amazing friends here and I'm sure they're all looking forward to seeing each other again. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED BY LISA, MATT, KIMBERLEY AND KARRIE! Oh yes, and Tess our dog.
DATE STAYED: August 2010
The site electrics tripped out a couple of times, heavy demand acording to a member of staff. I understand some upgrade work is due this year, resurfacing the entrance area would be good. The site wifi was a bit hit and miss, which I needed to use quite extensively whilst I was there, and some areas did not have very good communication. We still had a very enjoyable stay, and would return in future.

Having used your store & camp for the last four years . I have found the staff there very friendly and helpful. Location is very good and great for dog walking.
having done the store & camp the one thing l am upset about is the fact of paying a deposit every time l book, bearing in mind you have my caravan on site, I am not about to do a runner am I. Apart from this point its a great site and a great club keep up the good work. RGWB aker
Nice welcoming site right next to the beach. Our stay was spoilt by kids hanging around the facilities block making too much noise and the pitch next to us having 3 dogs and an annoying child and a loud mum who never stopped talking!
Choose your pitch wisely and you will enjoy your stay
One of the best sites we have been to, the staff were great they was about all day which was nice. a ideal site for touring about the area which was very nice.
We will go again.
DATE STAYED: June 2010
Site is a little uneven with mole hills. This made picking a site for the tent difficult. I could imagine that at peak times you could be disappointed and left with a bumpy pitch.
