Arrived the Sunday of the bank holiday weekend at Whitsun, the staff did their best at getting 2 pitches close together on a really busy weekend. Site very busy over the bank holiday but thinned out as the week went on, which made the facilities more accessible. Only 5 ladies showers between the 2 toilet blocks which resulted in a queue, one was also out of order for the 7 nights we were there.
Toilets very clean and tidy.
Site excellent for exploring weymouth, swanage and
Dorchester.
After a while you don't really notice the trains, but would recommend using the park and ride into weymouth as cheaper than the train.
Had a great week and even the sun shinned:))

Firstly, looking at earlier comments, I think they must have gone to a different site. The staff were very welcoming, helpful and friendly. I arrived with some trepidation in view of the wet weather we'd been having (especially after driving past many waterlogged fields on the way) but Paul assured us we would not have trouble on the grass pitch - we didn't even put the motorhome on boards and we didn't sink in. Apparently this site has a lot of gravel to help drainage. OK the washrooms are a bit "old" but they were spotless and perfectly fine and I didn't see any dangerous and cracked tiles! The railway station adjacent offers great way to visit Weymouth, Dorchester and beyond. Will definitely use this site again when down that way.

I feel I must comment on this site after reading the last review, we all have different opinions and different takes on our experiences. We stayed at this site for the jubilee weekend last year and I can honestly say, I have never met a more friendly team of wardens. They were so helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Ok the showers are a bit dated, but they were spotless, as was the rest of the site. I have just booked another break at Moreton for this spring. The entire family (two middle aged folk with two teenagers) are really looking forward to it.

The staff at this campsite do not make you feel welcome they are unfriendly and rude, this is by far the worst campsite we have stayed at. The shower facilities need attending to also as there are cracks in the tiles where you could cut yourself. Will not return.

Lovely part of the country, brilliant weather, campsite average. Didn't meet all the staff so must have been unlucky, but (1) we rang to ask if we could arrive one day prior to our original booking and were told site was 'chock-a-block' - seemed very unlikely when we arrived at 12 noon on the appointed day and found lots of empty pitches. (2) we were greeted outside Reception by a member of staff with a cigarette, on the rampage asking if we owned a motorhome which had been parked not to her liking. Thank goodness we didn't ! (3) on the second day checked the info sheet for opening hours of shop (open till 6pm), went for milk only to find shop closed. Asked about it next day and was told shop now on winter opening times so closed at 5.30. No apology.
The site is not very interesting, a wide open space with vans in rows - would benefit from some small hedges or other demarcation of pitches, and more hard-standing pitches would be useful. Facilities in need of an overhaul eg only 5 ladies' showers for 120 pitches, several plumbing jobs need attention (eg hot water taps which won't turn off), and a long walk for some to the refuse bins. No bin at washing-up area so people pushed food scraps down the plughole, causing blockage.
Site is fairly isolated but in easy reach by car of the coast, several towns and other attractions. We had a great day out on Brownsea Island. We didn't use the railway but potentially very useful to have the station next door.

Paul & Sue have been managing Moreton for 4 or 5 years. We have been visiting the site since before the club took it over and have met many wardens/managers who have been just fine however Paul & Sue are extremely good at what they do and provide. The state of the facilities is top notch the welcome 1st class and the management of their team brilliant. Long may they reign. Thank you.

Overall a great site... Simple play facilities for the little ones, clean toilet/shower block even if I had to queue due to other block needing maintanence. Quiet site and friendly staff who even helped us out when our van broke down and we needed to 'borrow' another pitch for the night. The road was a little noisy first thing in the morning and the trains were loud but we got used to both quickly. Thought the shop could stock more for the size of the site.
We would stay again with pleasure.

Our camping experience at Moreton was amazing. This was our second time here and we came back as we had tickets for the sailing olympics.
The lovely people when we arrived showed us happily to our pitch, showed our 2 boys where the park was, mentioned about the toilets and the freezer pack system.
They were up to speed on the park and rides that we needed to get for the olympics, and even informed us about the opening ceremony on Weymouth beach, with a train timetable.
They answered all our local questions and were just so happy.
we will go back a lot sooner than last time and we have recommened this site to several of our camping friends.
thank you for such a great camping experience with clean showers and toilets you had me won over at these.

I stayed at Moreton for two weeks along with my parents for the 2012 sailing olympics at Weymouth. On arrival we were met by most of the staff who were more than helpful to myself aswel as my parents. They pitched us together and showed us all areas we needed they were all fantastic and nothing was too much trouble. The fish and chip van was a huge hit for us on a Monday night. The train station also for myself was great as it is literally 3 minutes walk from site and straight into Weymouth in 19 minutes for the olympics. On one occasion Paul was having his evening meal and i went to him too report problem with toilet. He immediately got up even though he wasn,t on duty and sorted the problem out.I intend to use the site again and would recommend it to anyone wishing a pleasant stay for all ages.Once again a huge thanks too Pau Sue Di Tracey and Bill.Hope to see you all really soon.Bye for now Ivor Langford.

This site very pleasant on the whole, the couple in charge are a bit power crazy, and could be quite rude and unhelpful, ( this is just one example) when our friends wanted something from the shop, they were told it was inconvenient and they could walk to shop supposedly 5 mins away, more like 30 mins walking! The couple opposite us were sited by a member of staff who was shouted at by warden for doing it wrongly, the part time worker walked off the job as would quite rightly not tolerate the rudeness!
There were only 2 female showers in one block & 3 in the other, not enough for a very full site & the water was far to hot, it would be scorching for a child!
The grass was too long & teeming with mosquitoes , we found on the whole friendly site, well from other campers & the part time staff, oh & the trains tooting was very loud making you jump!!!! Saying that we still had a nice time despite the pettiness of others.Lulworth Cove, Swanage lovely. local pubs very good for food though quite pricey but friendly & helpful, nearest one out of camp to right then right up a lane carry on a few miles on left.

We have just returned from this site on a weekend break to see the Olympics. The location was fab, as we drove down to Weymouth to get an idea of what to expect then the following day used the train, which is close by. You may say too close by but once the last train (11pm) has blown its horn the site is very peaceful.
The site is reasonable size to other club sites I have been on, but the location of water / waste disposal was never too far from anyone, which is a real bonus.
The toilet facilities were adequate but in need of some future moderisation, so was happy with the cleaniness of them. The wardens were very helpful, at book-in and allocating the pitch and helped out. The grass and the entrance flowers were very nice indeed.
There is not much else around in the immediate vicinity so transport will always be needed.
All in all a very nice site, that I look forward to returning to.

This was my first 'camping and caravan' site visit and only my second 'tent holiday' but i cant recommend this site enough. It has everything you would want from a site. The staff are friendly, its clean. The facilities are good and the location is ideal for visit beautiful dorset towns, seaside resorts, countryside or attractions. My only gripe is the internet access (club wifi). £10 for 1 week or 3.5 gb. You are hardly to even get close to 3.5 gb in data as its so very slow. I was hoping to use i player or youtube for the kids bedtime, but no chance. With speeds of 0.3 Mbs to 0.5 Mbs its useless and not worth the money.

We received a friendly welcome and were given a choice of pitches. The site was busy but always quiet in the evenings. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Train noise soon became part of the scenery despite us being near the railway and me being a light sleeper it was not a problem. Good site for motorhomers as station next door gives easy access to Poole, Weymouth and Swanage. Loads to see and do in the area for all ages. Lots of info and leaflets available on site. The facilities were clean if a little basic. We had no problems with queues for showers despite site being busy. We used Frampton Arms twice, lovely food but don't expect "2 meals for a tenner" 2 courses, drinks for 3 adults came to £70. Food cooked to order and were flexible with ingredients. We had a lovely time and would definitely visit again.

The site was tidy and clean, however this was probably due to the amout of wardens on site, I felt that they were unhelpful when an inccident occurred with overpayment of the washing facilities, other bad points were the toilets were difficult to flush and as this was a busy site with children you were mostly confronted by an unflushed toilet, there was also only two showers in the block which was not adequate for the amount of guests. We also had problems with squirrels invading our tent possibly because we were the only ones without a dog. I like to be able to walk off of site and there also seemed to be no local walks as the site in next to a busy main road and railway line. The shop opening times were also very limited.

A very tidy, friendly site that I would gladly return to. The only criticism I have is that there are not enough showers, The staff were extremely friendly and the site seems to be well laid out. There is a pub outside the site that, while a little pricey for food, is nevertheless a nice place to sit and have a quiet drink in the evening. There is a railway line riunning next to the site and, sometimes, the trains were running early in the morning and late at night, but I would imagine that there extra services laid on to Weymouth for the Olympic sailing.

Wow! only just found I could add my comments! Moreton is a real favourite of ours and we have been going there for years. Sadly, not this year as we spent much time camping in France. As we look forward to our visit from thursday, it will be great to meet up with old friends (including the wardens... NOT old though!!) Moreton is brilliantly run and extremely clean. It has a real community feeling and the grounds are always splendid. Over the years we have recommended many and it too has become their favourite. One couple seem to spend all their time there and the husband is keen to actually try other sites but the wife won't move! We camped with the children when they were young and now sometimes go on our own and sometimes meet friends. Better wardens you would be hard pushed to find. BRILLIANT!!!1

We will most certainly go back at the first chance we get as we wanted to see so many attractions in the area. Our thanks again to the manager and staff your kindness will not be forgotten.

Lovely helpful happy staff on the site. Convenient location for getting out and about and the train is only a couple of minutes away, ideal for going to Weymouth. Toilet facilities are good, but there are better, why for instance do they have two hooks in the showers placed so close together that the object of having two pegs is virtually defeated? A lack of joined up thinking comes to mind. Other users have commented there is nowhere to put your soap while showering. Other than the odd toot from the passing trains, a lovely quiet site, we'll be back.

Very impressed with the site, and is our third visit. Precious 2 years ago. All site staff were very friendly and helpfull and could always answer any querires i had. Had a great pitch near to all facilities and as we are campers ment we didnt have to trek to far. The pitch was flat and sheltered as requested, unlike the priddy site who put us on a slope in the middle of the site so water ran through the tent all week.Cant fault the site at all and recommend a visit. Huge amount of things to do in the area.

When staying on this site in April 2012 we received a lovely warm welcome and were shown to a specially chosen flat pitch - the chap guiding us in said he knows VW campers (like ours) and knows the handbrakes aren't great! The site is right next to the train line and I confess that the first time we heard the train honk its horn I thought "oh no!" but trust me - you honestly forget about it and they dont do it at night. The play area was great, lots of space and things for toddlers through to under 12's - and the dog walk was good too, very clean. The toilets and showers were immaculate and the whole site was just really friendly and pleasant, we met some lovely people. No reflection on the site whatsoever but do NOT eat at the pub at the entrance! The food was great but the people positively hostile and when myself, my husband and our 8 year old had a meal there we were presented with a bill for £72!!! That's two main courses, two desserts, two drinks and one child's menu offering - for the price of a week's shopping! Ludicrous. Not to mention stupid as had they priced it sensibly we'd have eaten there at least another couple of times during our stay. Stay on the site and enjoy the peace and warmth instead!

There is a railway line that runs behind the site and the drivers seem to have pleasure in blowing their warning signal for the level crossing. This is between the hours of 7am until 11pm. After a while you do not hear it. We had a really lovely peaceful month on this site but forgot about the Jubilee weekend and found it far to noisy in the busy period. The staff where all very friendly and helpfull. We had to use the vet in Dorchester and again this was a very good recomendation. We will visit this site again in the future. There is a very nice Tea room in Moreton about a five minute drive from the site. Lovely cream teas.

A great friendly welcome. The managers are very helpful. The computer booking system seemed to be playing up.I preferred the single sheet and receipt per site for multiple bookings. It is wonderful having the station outside (despite the odd tooting horns) especially once you have worked out the ticket machine.Good access to Weymouth, Dorchester, Bournemouth etc.Local attractions include the Tank Museum, Money World and Athelhampton House.
Shower water lovely and warm but wish all the push buttons would give a longer run.One was less than 5 secs.Wife said ladies toilets were either not being flushed or not flushing.Pity waste bins have to be so far down in the corner. One of our favourite sites.

Lovely site, and very friendly staff. Paul was particularly helpful and patient helping me to extend my stay whilst dealing with a new IT system, and that was on the odd occasions that the internet was connected. A saint!
Facilities are marked down only because they are slightly showing their age and the number of showers is low compared to demand.
Brilliant for ditching the camper van and taking the train to Poole, Weymouth, Wareham or Dorchester for the day; the station is literally on the doorstep and the as for train noise, there was none.

We stayed here in April 2012 and our only wish was that the weather had been as warm as the welcome we received! Our eight year old LOVED the playground, our dog loved the dog walk, we loved the fact that the trains that passed the site didn't wake us up or honk their horns after 9pm. Yes, it's near the tracks and I had my reservations but honestly forgot about them after the first train passed. The staff were terrific and went out of their way to find us a flat pitch to suit our rusty old hand brake - one staff member even joking that he "knows VW's and know what they're like!" Lovely people, great location to explore the many attractions within 15 minutes drive - we were there for 8 days and didn't see it all. Swanage is lovely, well worth a visit and Corfe Castle takes a good couple of hours to go round which surprised us as it doesn't look big from the road. Great holiday, great site, great people. Thank you x

Our first time out with the new (albeit 20yr old!) trailer tent, and our first Camping & Caravanning Club site despite being campers for the past 20 years. Site access was easy, and not difficult to find. The site staff were very welcoming, with the offer of assistance with pitching if needed, and even gave a bit of free reversing advise getting us onto our pitch (first time reversing with trailer for me!). The toilets/showers/washup area's were all nice and clean, and perfectly adequate for our needs. The play area for the kids is excellent, our 2 (aged 5 & 7) disappeared to it 10 mins after we arrived, and whenever we were on site we didn't know we had them! Though we had no cause to use it, the site shop seemed well stocked with essentials, and the information room had details of lots to do. The site is perfectly located for all the local attractions, and within a short drive of Weymouth & Dorchester. A thoroughly enjoyable stay, and we will certainly be returning in the not too distant future.

Positives - Staff were very friendly, mostly helpful and site facilities were very clean. Well located for access to the trains for Poole, Weymouth etc. Pub next to the site served good food although the price of a pint was pretty steep. Brilliant fish & chips from the visiting chippy van.
Negativies - toilets and showers need upgrading - not enough showers and toilets flushes inefficient - shower head holes seemed clogged or water pressure inefficient, lack of hooks for clothes and no sink cubicles. During a conversation with staff we were asked why pay all that money for a motorhome then not use your own facilities, but if taps and drains aren't provided (and they're not) on individual pitches how can we use our own facilities efficiently? Also we motorhomes pay more per pitch than a tent! We were told to park so that the door faced a particular direction, but our european van door was on the opposite side so our awning when pitched meant that our children were sleeping right next to the road instead of on the safe grass side - no flexibity offered when we queried this with staff on arrival. This direction also meant that the door faced the prevailing wind. Enclosed dog walk very small and there was a sign asking that dogs be kept on a lead - why?
OS maps showed a public path going from close by the site to Moreton Ford, but staff advised us that the resident living in the house on the path would make us unwelcome and has been known to threaten using her rifle on campsite visitors! Avoiding confrontation meant that we either walked on the busy and fast B road (without pavement), or drive there. Our original plans when deciding to book this and take our dog were restricted by this. However once in Moreton there are lovely walks. Does Ordnance and Survey know that this marked path is no longer public? Garden centre in Moreton now no longer open.
Despite the above niggles we had a lovely 2 weeks and the weather was kind to us.

This site is a real gem. We stayed here for 6 nights and had a really enjoyable time. It is ideally suited for family days out to Monkey World, Weymouth etc. As a family with three young children (9yrs, 5yrs and 2yrs) the play park was superb. It had swings, slides, climbing frames and a big sand pit which my 2year old and 5 year old absolutely loved playing in. The toilets and showers were always clean no matter what time of day we used them. They had a family room which was excellent to use with our 2 year old. They have a fish and chip van that comes twice a week. The food was delicious and a welcome break from cooking. The staff on the site were friendly and welcoming and made our stay brilliant. This is a really nice site with good facilities that were always clean. The staff were all very welcoming. We found the site easy to get to. Moreton train station is just next to the site so there is quite a lot of train noise, not that this bothered us at all. Very handy if you dont want to drive every where. This site is great for touring Dorset with plenty of beaches within a short drive. The Bovington Tank Museum is well worth a visit. Pool, Waymouth and Dorchester are also a short drive away(or train journey). There is a good fish and chip van that visits twice weekly, but the ques were quite long so i would recomend that you wait about half an hour after it arrives then go up. We would also recomend the pub at the entrance to the site, it does lovely meals and there's a pool table and darts board (a bonus if you've got teanages). Today I returned from Moreton. It was my third trip this summer and my most successful attempt at camping. Time to erect tent down from five hours to forty minutes. The site is perfectly situated for the coast, Weymouth, Bournemouth, Poole etc. Not forgetting Lyme Regis and the Jurassic Coast. There are numerous inland places of interest too, Corfe Castle and the tank museum are within spitting distance, and the Moreton Tearooms serve a great cream tea!
On a club site it goes without saying that you get a friendly welcome and the showers and loos are impeccably clean. The camp shop sells the basics that one would expect but it would be useful if the shop was open for a little longer. I also met some very nice people who were happy to share tips and experiences - very helpful for a newbie.
A fish and chip van calls twice a week and the quality is excellent. I'm told that the vendors are expanding their range of products in the next couple of weeks or so. There is also a pub just outside the site entrance. It doesn't open until six thirty, which can be a bit of a bind after a long drive and a wrestling match with a tent when a refreshing pint would be very welcome. The pub does serve food which is perfectly adequate but the service, in my experience, is slow to the point of stagnation.
I hope you find this review balanced, I've tried to be fair and accurate. Probably the easiest way to sum up is to say that I had such a good time that I have booked to return for two weeks in September. Keep up the good work!

Really enjoyed our holiday. All the site staff are very friendly and helpful. there is a shop at reception with everything you'll ever need plus! amazing icecream!! only down is that its only open between 9-10.30am and 4-5.30pm. No trouble getting to the site. very handy having a train station with a minutes walk off the campsite although we didnt use it as spent every day on the beach at ludworth cove- next to durdle door. if you walk around the beach and climb over the rocks then we found a virtually private beach. we arrived at 10am and the beach was completely ours until about 12midday!! it was amazing, and although the weather was lovely anyway it was scorching on the beach as the white cliff reflects the sun, we could have been anywhere! about 15/20 minutes from the camp site there is a big tesco straight off of the mini roundabout. very handy for a slight detour for tea on the way home. otherwise the camp site sells a bbq package for £5 or fish and chip van visits on a wed and sat night. the only thing that was a bit disappointing in the entire trip was the wait for the ladies showers if you went about 9-11. my fiance said there was never a cue for the mens. unfortunatly the showers were also a bit hot (especially as we had bad sun burns!) and could not be adjusted. i think a bit of modernisation is all that is needed. the bathroom at night is nice and warm and the doors are always shut when its gets dark. very homely :)
ooh and very nice and friendly pub which is also next door to the campsite. pool table, child friendly, dog friendly, music machine, games machine.
overall we had a very lovely trip and we would like to say a very big thankyou to all the staff that made our visit so special.

This was only our second trip with our caravan and we don't go too far from home! The staff were really friendly and helpful. Some of the pitches needed chocks but they lent some to some people who didn't have any. We were picthed near the dog walk and play area, which suited us as we have kids and a dog. Our son made friends and happily played in the play area and we could just watch him from our caravan.
We walked to the train station and got the train into Weymouth which was great you would have to me mad to drive in due to the Olympics there are lots of road works in the town and it just looked a nightmare. Weymouth has lots of nice cafe's and shops and the dog is allowed on the beach at the far end.
There is a pub next door to the site but we didn't go there.
Very nice site.

Have stayed at this site numerous times, it is well run and conveniently placed to visit Weymouth (on the train, the station is next to the site) Dorchester (good market on Wednesdays) and also Lulworth and Durdledoor.
There is a pub next to the site where both the beer and food are good.

Overall a nice site, very quiet and quite secluded. The facilities are basic but functional and spotlessly clean. We have 2 young children and the family shower room was a great asset. Staff friendly and helpful.
This site was a bit remote for us as you can't even walk anywhere.
There were only a couple of issues during our stay (other than the weather which could have been kinder).
We have a large tent and so booked the jumbo pitch (there is only one). If you need the jumbo pitch do not book this site. It is big enough but it's on quite a steep slope and the orientation of the plot would have meant us pitching side on to the slope and we would have all rolled to one side of the tent! As it was the site was quiet and the staff found us a more suitable spot which effectively meant we used two small plots.
Don't bother with the 'fish & chip' van. It's a lovely idea but the advertised time is when it arrives and you'll find yourself queuing for well over an hour. You'd be better to jump in the car, head down the road to Warmwell holiday village (5 minutes drive) which has an excellent fish & chip shop. You'll be there and back and eating your tea before the van serves the first person in the queue.

Nice campsite, we had a choice of pitches, despite arriving late in the day on Bank Holiday Monday. All the campsite staff were very friendly and helpful and were working hard to keep the site looking clean and tidy. My only criticism would be that the showers had only a small trickle of water from them. Loads to see and do within a few miles, would definitely go again.

A very, very nice site. This was our first stay on a club site and we were made very welcome as soon as we arrived. We had asked for a pitch near the play area and the pitch we were given could not have been better - able to relax and keep an eye on the kids at the same time. The site was quite busy but never felt crowded or noisy. The toilet and shower facilities were spotlessly clean all week. There is a pub next to the site which does food - perfectly nice. The fish and chip van that came on Wed eve was good value and delicious.
A very good location for exploring the Dorset coast - there are various beaches within a 20 min drive and lots to do nearby. We had a great time, watching bats and shooting stars from our awning and listening to the hooting of owls in the woods - a lovely place and perfect for kids, ours aged 6 and 2 1/2 had the time of their lives! Would very much recommend.

Very nice site, very busy when we were there so there was lots and lots of children so great for families. Am very grateful that the Wardens had put most of the units without children in one area so we had a bit of peace. Small dog walk & pub just outside the site, all in all a very nice stay.

Nice site, handy for Dorchester, Weymouth and Isle of Purbeck. Mobile fish 'n chip van a welcome visitor. All a Club Site should be but........Dog walk disappointing and 1 of 2 wc/shower blocks out of use for much of our Easter stay. Very steep check-in bay might catch some out in the wet.

It was a busy time of the year and every effort was made to find us site. On arrival we were greeted warmly and helped to set up our little caravan. Easy access to Bournemouth and Poole by train so we did not need the car.

One of our favourite sites having stayed there several times over the years. Next to the station so some noise is heard - regularly.
Use the train and go to Poole or beyond in one direction or Weymouth in the other.

All staff were very friendly and helpful, both on arrival and during the stay. On request we were given a peaceful location which was excellent, but to be fair the entire site was thoroughly tranquil. The trains hoot as they approach the nearby level crossing, however this was not intrusive. It's an ideal good spot for easy access to the south coast. The week we spent here was wonderful - we would definitely revisit.

the staff were excellent, facillities not too bad but with only 2 shower blocks which have only 3 showers in each you have to queue, also only 1 wahing machine and tumble dryer so my wife had to wait for 2 hours to use them, some of the tent sites without elec are on a gradual slope. it may seem that i was disappointed with the site but nothing can be perfect, pub beside site is great food great beer even better, train station is also beside site and only 20 mins to weymouth
