Lovely site situated within walking distance of the lovely town of Moffat. Site wardens could not have been more friendly and helpful, we were made to feel very welcome. The site consists of spacious flat pitches and offers warm, clean facilities. The showers are lovely and warm with the added benefit of not having to keep pressing a button to keep the water flowing like some showers we have used!
Moffat offers lots of local, friendly pubs and cafes, and some great small shops to wander around. Whiskey tasting in Moffat Mill is a must. We also found a lovely park and boating lake at the back of Moffat Mill which would be great during warmer weather!
Many thanks for a pleasant weekend.

We received a very warm welcome & nothing was too much trouble for the staff.Very helpful in recommending places to eat & pubs with live music in the evenings which were a very short walk from the site!!
The showers (although a little basic) were great..clean,powerful & with lots of hot water, just what we needed after spending the day on the motorbike!!
All in all a really nice site in a beautiful part of Scotland.

Just returned from 3 night stay over May Bank Holiday Weekend. Now been about 5 years in a row either Easter or May. Was allocated our favourite grassy pitch that we prefer over hardstanding for our caravan. Friendly welcome and liked being accompanied to pitch with a bit of help/advise for reversing in in new car to towing. Love the easy walking access into town from this site and load of eateries to enjoy and nice shops. Also like that this part of country is considerably more dog friendly with Buccleugh Hotel & Green Frog happy to let our pooch in whilst we ate. Both great for food and also like Claudios for evening meal. Only problem is the size of potholes in shared access road. Getting deeper & wider every year!!! Keep u good work on site & we'll def be back.

What a differance a Year makes!!! Well 2 years in fact - we last stayed here 2 yaers ago and it was in the process of being upgraded it was an absolute mud bath at the time with grass not cut and hard standing going in heavy plant machines etc. well what a wonderful surprise when we returned in May 2012 - we had only booked for an overnight stay as we were on our way home from our trip - the wardens are very friendly and helpful and offered information on the area and even gave vouchers for discounted meals at places in Moffat they helped us choose a suitable suuny pitch and even accommpanied us to the pitch and saw that we got pitched up ok -the site is now obviously well cared for and has a pleasent and relaxed feel to it - the shower/toilet facilites are not as modern as they could be but none the less they are clean warm and there is bags of hot water whenever you need it - we cannot wait to return - thanks guys for a lovely experience -

Just back from a two night weekend break with the kids. Very friendly welcome by the staff, shown to a nice pitch that they selected for us due to having the kids (away from the access road). Great facilities, I agree that the toilet block is dated, however it is still up there with the best, very clean and hot water that you don't need to press a button for. Easy walk to the coop and Moffat Toffee Shop!
The only downside was the signage to access the site, which in our opinion was very poor. Once off the main road we didn't know which fork on the road to take! Make sure you go left and then right keeping the childrens nursery on your right hand side! Other than that, a fab site and we'll be back!

Very convenient for overnighting, being close to the M74. We received a warm welcome from the team, who helpfully made two additional reservations for us at other Club sites in Scotland (it was a Sunday and the Central Reservations office was unavailable). They also made sure we were allocated a pitch that suited us at Moffat.
The site is large and close to town. Our only tiny frustration was the need to use a security code to access the toilets and showers. No doubt there is a valid reason, but being somewhat mature in years and also requiring reading glasses, it was slightly fiddly and inconvenient, especially after dark.
Otherwise, the location provided a welcome stopover. Thanks to all concerned for providing us with a pleasant visit.

Great site with easy access off the motorway, but don't just use as a stop over! Moffat was a lovely area with loads of walking and cycling direct from the site. I didn't get chance to try the forest mountain bike trails so will be back. The facilities were dated but spotless so don't be put off. The showers were piping hot and the design of the cubicles was better than many modern ones with loads of room and a good dry changing area. After many years with the Caravan Club this was our first time using a Caravan and Camping site. We could not have been welcomed more warmly by the wardens. This really did feel like the friendly club. Looking forward to finding more places like this!

We stayed at this site after a week at another club site. Arrived just after 12 with another family on a very busy Easter bank holiday wknd, great welcome by wardens who were rushed off their feet but booked in and shown to our pitch very quickly next to each other. There is a lovely garden centre 5mins walking distance from site we took all 5 children (ages 5-14) fishing there and they all managed to get a fish in 2hrs well worth a look. The down side to this site is it only has 4 showers and on a bank holiday wknd is not enough as you had to wait in the morning to get in and feel rushed to get out when you are trying to get yourself and 2 children all done together. There is plenty of hot water and loads of sinks and toilets so that was not a problem. This site is in the town and is handy to pop to the shops but didn’t like the fact that anyone could walk in to the site.(all the club sites we have been on have been out of the town a bit so not used to this)a bit noisy on site but nothing that would keep you up.

My wife and I have visited here many times now, it has gradually become more of an attraction to us as it is central for exploring the border area by car, bus or walking, as mood takes us. our most recent visit was intended to facilitate a hillwalking break for us unfortunately my wife suffered a nasty fall resulting in some fractures to her elbow and ribs (on a stroll along the river) our second day. The assistance we received from the local surgery and the site supervisors was excellent sympathetic and helpful. The friendly Site operators Mike, Christine and their colleagues helped to make up our minds to stay on (the good weather did help) Thanks to the friendly club once again. See you on our next visit to Moffat

Just got back from touring south scotland, the highlight was our stay at moffat.
only intended one night but stayed for three, the site was looking realy good, can anything beat the smell of fresh cut grass .the loos and showers where spotless.
In fact the whole site was as pretty as a picture.
The near bye town of moffat was very handy to get a meal or a bit of shopping.
But best of all the staff at the site were probably the most helpfull and friendly group you could find.
We will be visiting moffat again to spend more time at a great site with superb team to look after us, THANKS.

We had a short stay here in August and had a lovely time, the site was very busy but still quiet and friendly. The toilet blocks were immaculately clean and well looked after. A short walk to the town centre shops and restaurants, we found that the town was dog friendly and dogs are welcome in most of the pubs. Plenty of walks close by too. First time we have visited this site which we thought would just be a convenient stopover on our way back from The Highlands and what a lovely surprise it was. Extended our stay to 3 nights but could have stayed much longer. A really warm and friendly welcome with spotlessly clean facilities. Easy walking into the quaint town with great dog walks along the river and doggie friendly shops and pubs. So much to explore around here with fabulous walking in the area. A special mention to the Manager for his help when I inadvertently flattened the car battery. Even though he was very busy he broke off to get us on our way with a cheery smile. We will definitely be back.

As regular pilgrims to the Moffat site, we enthusiastically endorse all the praise and highlights recommended by other visitors, especially with regard to staff charm, efficiency, and tireless care of both site and campers. The perfect geographical situation of the complex with its pleasant rural views, tranquillity, convenience shopping and dining, good TV, remarkable freedom from traffic noise, together with the wonderful variety of exploratory excursions available on the quiet roads of the surrounding beautiful countryside make Moffat our No. 1 campsite. We've compiled a sheet of suggested outings for campers who want to make Moffat more than a mere stop-over on the way north. There's enough to entertain stately home and culture lovers, garden explorers, walkers of all abilities, shoppers, serenity seekers, and even sedentary sightseers of the unusual and spectacular. Sheet available from site office.

Always loved the town of Moffat and now use this site as stop over from visiting the Highlands. This time stayed a couple of nights and was delighted to find some lovely marked walks that are good for the dogs as the exercise area at the camp site is small but with lovely walks only 5 minutes away this no longer matters. Moffat is a nice little town with everything you need at hand. The site is one of the bigger ones but despite this is quiet. Although over 55 now I am sad that this large site can't find the space for a little toddlers play area as the one in the park is quite a way away for little feet. But for us it is ideal, not only as a stop over but to spend a few days exploring the very pretty area and an ideal site for those who want to visit Scotland but can't face the long journey to the Highlands as it has everything the Highlands have but just slightly smaller mountains - but the tallest waterfall in Britain - the Grey Mare's Tail.

Really liked this site. Have been before and both times have found the staff very helpful, with some great recommendations for eating in the town. Moffat is a lovely little town and the site is only a short walk from the centre. As others have mentioned, the shower block is in need of some updating, but is spotlessly clean with plenty of hot water.
A great stop off, right at the side of the motorway, when travelling to and from the Highlands. Would also highly recommend Claudios Italian Restaurant who offer a great two course deal between 5.30 and 6.30pm a few minutes walk from the site.

And the site is 2 minutes walk from the co-op and the town centre. great food and friendly pubs. There are loads of good walks around the village. My only negative is nothing to do with the site. Why do some dog owners think that the whole world wants to hear their yappy Dogs. One Lady had three Dogs who yapped all day. She might think they are cute but i dont. A dog bounded up to my daughter one day on the site and the owner shouted, its OK it wont hurt you.. Thats not the point GET IT ON A LEAD.
I actually like Dogs but some people give dog owners a Bad name.

Very good location for less mobile people as only short walk into the town with plenty of shops etc. A very busy site with 7 members of staff working flat out all day and not a frown in sight.
Facilities were dated but very clean and not a problem for us. Nice to have separate area in shower for getting dressed, hate all those little white stools and no dry changing area. Nothing to do with this site but
please why do you have to pay 20p on C& C sites for hairdryer when all other electric included. Not only that but it timed out before my 'short' hair was dry. Would definitely go here again if travelling North. We know there will be a warm welcome.

On arrival on a very busy weekend we were shown to our pitch and unhitched the caravan. We quickly realised we had been given a potentially very noisy pitch, as a large group of campers with lots of children were directly behind us. As one of our children has special needs (and finds it hard to get to sleep at the best of times), I returned to reception to ask if a quieter pitch was available. I explained the situation and one of the wardens (tall, slim, friendly - sorry, didn't catch his name!) went out of his way to help. Not only did he find us a perfectly quiet pitch, but he even went and got his little tractor and actually moved our caravan himself! Five star service indeed and very much appreciated.

Lots of pebbled hard-standing surrounded by manicured grass. The loo block was spotlessly clean but could do with 2 more showers and fewer wash basins to help ease the morning rush. Nice views of a field of sheep, trees and hills, but right beside town for shops/food/drink. We are just back from another great stay at Moffat. This is a wonderful place with staff to match; they are friendly, helpful and make you feel really welcome. The site is part of the small town of Moffat with all the facilities anyone needs. Great marked walks from the site from a few miles to a good walk. There is only one small BUT, the toilet facilities are all out of proportion to peoples requirements. Seven toilets, ten sink units and only four showers, six of each would be more appropriate.

I have stayed at Moffat many times and love the site, we usually try to make it our first trip of the season. This is the first time we have stayed with our large tent and requested EHU in addition. Unfortunately the site don't do jumbo pithes with EHU but we were given the option of paying for 2 pitches, which we gladly agreed to do. We arrived after 24 hours of heavy rain and were shown to our pitch. It was just off one of the roads through the site and therefore visibly sitting in one of the very few dips on the site. I did ask the gentleman guiding us if we could pitch immediately opposite but this was dismissed without discussion (shame as no-one else pitched there for the duration of our stay). We were told very specifically and rather patronisingly where to pitch - having a corner marked for us. We began to pitch and realised that there was a 2 foot pool of water in the middle of the pitch. We just moved our tent over slightly to avoid this. Unfortuantely we then had a good deal of rain for the rest of the day and night. This found us surrounded by water and our tent in a muddy bog. Now I am very aware no site is responsible for the weather but I have never expereiced mud like this at any site before and certainly not at this flat well drained site. The pitch I had expressed a preference for remained dry the whole time. Aside of this dissapoitment, most of the team there are extremely friendly, Christine is particularly helpful. The facilities are immaculate and it is very handy for the delightful small town. The Buccleuch Hotel offer superb food. The surrounding area was beautiful as ever. Will visit again but will avoid pitch 100 like the plague.

We have stayed at this site several times and have always found it to be a very friendly, clean site. The managers are very friendly and helpful. The only drawback is the access road to the site which is full of extremely large and deep potholes. Because the road is narrow and has a few sharp bends it is extremely difficult to avoid these holes, especially with a large caravan outfit. These holes are present from previous years and now require urgent attention.

having alwaysdrove past Moffat before decide to stay. Excellent site with extremely friendly and helpful staff. There are excellent walks from the site and the town has excellent places to eat. Definately a site to return and others should consider staying longer than overnight before travelling further north or south!

We have been to moffat on a couple of occasions and have enjoyed each visit. The road into the site is a bit narrow so be aware of oncoming traffic round the tight bends. The site itself is flat, clean and tidy and the staff take you to your pitch. Toilet block is nice and central and also very clean and tidy. Never an issue with hot water. We have a baby too and use of the baby change facilities as a private room was fantastic. Our only complaint was the passing of comment by a female member of staff regarding our membership being part of the Fife DA. As this is the area (and a large one at that) this is where we belong to. She then promptly asked if we had ever been out with them before and to ensure that we tidy up after ourselves since in the past there have been issues with Fife DA members!!! A bit rude to tar everyone with the same brush. Otherwise a nice wee site minus the comments.

Just returned from a 7 day stay and will definately be going back. We stayed with 3 dogs and still didn't complete all the nearby walks. The site is immaculately maintained and very friendly. Moffet town is 2mins walk away and we didn't need to use the car which makes a nice change.
Give it a try you won't be dissapointed.

Fantastic site, we go there maybe 4 times a year. New staff are very nice and extremly helpful, would recommend it to anyone and have done.Amenities are always spotless and easy access to both able and disabled members. The site itself is immaculate and always kept neat and tidy ( although a kids play area would be really walcome). Thanks again for a happy and relaxing break.

We can give nothing but praise for this site and the wonderful staff that run it. Mike and Andy have gone out of their way during the recent storms that have hit Moffat, They visited our caravan over 8 times within the last 3 days to make sure that our awning was secure and our elderly parents who we using the caravan at the time were ok, above and beyond their call of duty.
The site is lovely and clean and well looked after. The town of Moffat is less that 2 minutes walk away with various eating houses and sweet shop that made our sons eyes pop out.
This is our third visit within the last 12 months and we will definately be back. In fact if it wasn't a 5 hour round time from our home I would visit this site every weekend.

Friendly site and very convenient for the town of Moffat, only 2 mins walking to shops and hotels. However the access road is poor with large potholes and very narrow in places - impossible to pass if another unit or lorry approaching. Site is well maintained but the facilities extremely poor. Old,cold and totally inadequate shower facilities. Only 4 showers in the ladies - and only 3 operational for the 8 days we stayed. When I queried this was told "waiting on a plumber" - for 8 days? And why is the toilet block only heated at the weekends, Friday pm to Sunday?? It was raining and cold for the whole of our stay - not just the weekend.

Fantastic little site which we use alot 3 or more times a year.
The site is undergoing (2010/2011) some upgrades and will look great when completed. The road in can be slight worn and some pot holes so care should be taken. The toilet block can be cold in the winter and a bit dark but they are always very clean...

As you have probably read the site is used alot for stop overs and for this the site is adequate. We however stopped a week and found the site too close to the town and a huge school behind it(be aware that the school bells rings frequently)The dog walk only covers a small area and alternative dog walking is some distance away, in fact out through the town. Scenery can be found but you will need a car to visit it. The toilet facilities were clean but very jaded/dated.

We love this site. BIG plus is the 4 minute walk to the town centre, eating places and pub. The site is being improved with each visit but did not disturb any of our stays there. Freindly, knowledgable staff who keep the site clean and tidy. Facilities are central with decent showers.
Good dog walk along the river which is being improved. Only one mile off the A74 so a good overnight stop for those travelling distances north or south. We will definately return.

I love this site to bits. Have stayed there many times just love it as you can park up and there are lots of lovely eating places in the little town especially the Bucchluech Hotel, meals are out of this world and not very expensive. Lovely walks from the site also. Only down side is the showers and toilets very dated need refurbished badley although theyb are kept very clean.

We have been coming to Moffat site for a number years now,the close proximity to Moffat town and all it's facilities are great bonus as are the many surrounding country walks.
The site toilets and shower facilities are however a bit "tacky" and in need of a serious major facelift.
This doesn't stop us visiting this great site that could be greater if the facilities were up to the mark.

Having booked early for November 2010 and looked forward to our visit, it was a major dissappointment. This was our first outing ever!!! We had booked with friends and they received a call to say some work was being cariied out on site, we however had no notification whatsoever - What an understatement. The site groundworks are being fully refurbished. We had a Tarmac machine outside our caravans on one of the mornings at 8.30am (not ideal, this I add was squeezed past my friends car. No of the staff notified us of this and one customer was held up for over an hour trying to exit the site. Going for showers semed pointless as you ended up covered in mud by the time you got back to your caravan feeling as if you needed a further shower. The dog walks weren't ideal, the end of one of them looked like a building site, my 2 dogs had to stay on their leads. This was frustrating as we had mentioned we had large dogs who need exercise daily. I only wish we had known the extent of work being done, we could have booked alternate dates. I am sure we will visit again at a later date, but never again to a site that is having any work done. The lack of information gven before our visit was appalling. However on a good note I am sure the site will be lovely when finished. Yes, I will visit again, staff very friendly.

I rejoined the club after several years break and now both retired so able to take advantage of age concessions
We would not have booked on line as we were unaware until arrival that building work was in progress, Monday to Friday, increasing hard standing capacity, revamping power and services points.
However, other than the wake up call at 8 each morning, the noise of digger, dump truck, and reversing beepers at times, there was no undue impact.
We both enjoyed our stay and will probably visit again excellent amenities, warm and clean
friendly, helpful staff but DO use the site entrance map from the main road.

The site book is accurate. It is only a few miles from the motorway.
The town of Moffat is nice and has plenty of facilities.
The lane to the site is very narrow and badly in need of repair.
As this lane is used by those other than camp site users I guess there might be some difficulty about who pays for road repairs.
Only a five minute walk into town. Definitely worth a visit.

This was a site picked for a stop off while traveling to visit Scotland from Cornwall as it was just in the right place for a break for first stop up last homeward , Having used this site we liked the area very much & wished we had more time to investigate the area as it seems such a nice town & countryside , very busy site when we where there so very popular so hope this will not make pitches unavalabe by being over used with sites at a premium .

We used this site to use as a stopover on our way north and stopped here for a couple of nights , it is very convenient for Moffat town centre a five minute walk from site , which is a nice little town with all the shops you would require and more , next to the site is the Hammerlands centre which is a small garden centre and fishing lakes ,it also has a café that does decent meals , just out of the entrance is the Edinburgh Woollen mill site , with its usual range of merchandise .the site its self is a lovely flat site which is larger with 180 pitches than its appearance makes it look , and the facilities are up to normal C&CC club standards , this site would be ok for short stays but I didn’t find enough in the area to make me want to come back for a longer stay ,, there was a decent dog walking field at the entrance , but there was plenty of walks from the site anyway although you would need to keep dog on lead
