"Linger a while on this friendly campsite in southern Scotland."
The pretty wool town of Moffat is home to this popular campsite. It makes a great stopping off point for journeys through Scotland, though if you stop off here be prepared to be tempted to stay longer to explore the beauty of the Scottish Lowlands.

arriving late on a monday night after a long days cycle i was met by very friendly staff who booked me in showed me to a nice pitch for my tent . great sleep in this quiet site was just what was needed to recharge the batterys ready for the nxt days cycle . cpl min walk into Moffat where there is all you need , shops , food & cold beer . would reccomend this site for any cycle tourers passing near as a decent stop over point
SUITABLE FOR: Older couples
Level site with good views of hills. Saw some lovely sunsets. Other reviewers have commented on the "old fashioned" toilet blocks - perhaps I'm behind the times, but I could see nothing to complain about. There are nice walks from the site. including going through the nearby park then crossing the road to reach the riverside path. A good stopover on the way north.
We used the Moffat Club site as a base for 16 days of walking and touring activities together with some rest. The friendly welcome began at the office on arrival and the attention given to our requirements was first class. The staff of seven sometimes looked like a baker's dozen on the team, all with red shirts. On our rest days we could see the hive of industry in action - the team personally directed 40 or so travelers to their sites each day over the Bank Holiday weekend, endlessly mowing the grass and spotlessly cleaning the roomy amenities, all without any interruption to our special holiday. The Moffat area, the Club site and the cheerful service were very much appreciated. We will certainly pass on the details to our traveling friends so they too can experience the best so far.

Persistent heavy rain and camping do not make good partners, coupled with the depressing sight of closed shop and grey buildings. Moffat has seen better days.
Flat, level waterlogged site, with hard standing and grass pitches, military stile toilet block set central to site bears hallmarks of the de-personalised Caravan & Camping Club Site. The C&CC class the last week in May – ‘peak season’ (mid-season first week in June?) top whack site fees for May!
Convinced the weather has a great bearing on the review, and the site may have looked better in full sunshine with views of the distant hills. Moffat will however continue with the scars of the recession and failed business. Even the lovely ornate church has it door locked.
On the positive side, it’s a good location for one night stop-over only a couple of miles of the motorway (before taking in the great sights North or South of this location!).

This is our favourite club site in Scotland. The staff are great and pitches in good order. Love the town it is like stepping back into the past. Agree that the toilets are dated but kept really clean. This time we brought our new puppy on her first trip and were pleased that the we were given a list of three dog friendly pubs. The Stag Hotel welcome and food were excellent and provided water and dog biscuits for the puppy without asking.
We'll be back
SUITABLE FOR: Older couples,Peaceful break
Take care on the approach road, where potholes may bruise your buttocks and crack your crockery. Once inside you will find excellent facilities. The site is surrounded by a suburban street, a large school, fish farm buildings and a coach park, so no rural bliss but an easy walk to a pleasant town centre. The site is laid out like part of the suburbs, streets of hard standings with tenters banished to scraps of grass round the edges, well away from the facilities. A good site for those travelling to or from the mountains or those who want shops very nearby.
Is there another camper out there who drives across sites at 5mph?
DATE STAYED: April 2012

Site was very clean and well kept. Unfortunately this was achieved at the expense of friendliness and relaxed atmosphere. The many rules and regulations made this site totally unsuitable for children. There is nowhere on site for children to play. The toilet block is dated and general lack of facilities make this site overpriced- it resembled an overcrowded transit camp used for overnight stops going south on the motorway, We will not return although Moffat is a lovely wee town.
We were welcomed on arrival and escorted to our pitch. The site and facilities were first class and access to the town just minutes away. Walks available from site and pleasant drives to the surrounding area.
SUITABLE FOR: Families,Older couples,Peaceful break
stayed at site for 5 days, friendly staff, couldn't fault them, but the toilet block is like something from the past, loads of cubicle doors both sides and looks like a metal drain running right up the middle of floor, there dark, dull, and old fashioned and they look like there from colditz ,they definately went out with Nelsons eye,and feel sorry for the staff having to clean them, very dingy toilets,so please give the staff in Moffat new toilet block,as they deserve it,as they work so hard.Laundry room, washing dishes room spotless,All in all the staff great, but the toilets are a big let down
Spent a short break at this site, where the staff were very helpful and friendly.
The site is within easy / short walking distance of the town which has a selection of eating establishments. From the site there are also some pleasant walks and a nice park.
Site is a short distance from the motorway and makes for a pleasant stopping point on your journey.
DATE STAYED: April 2013
We have been to this site four or five times. It is a really friendly site with staff who go out of their way to be helpful.
They are very efficient and yet very friendly in reception and are pleased to help site a caravan.
The facilities are spotless and we have never had to queue for a shower.
It is close to the town but not so close that it seems overlooked. The town of Moffat has a great selection of shops, pubs and restaurants.
SUITABLE FOR: Families,Older couples,Groups,Active break,Peaceful break,Younger couples
We arrived on the busy Good Friday lunch time and the campsite was a sight to behold, nestled in a valley with glorious mountain views. The site wardens showed us to our pitch, took the caravan off the back of our Land Rover and put it onto our pitch. HASSLE FREE, MARVELOUS!! The site is beautifully clean and very well maintained. Its a 2 minute walk to the town with all the major places close at hand. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the very friendly wardens, always there to help, give out valuable information and generally making your feel welcome. Looking forward to staying again next year. THANK YOU.
We were made very welcome, staff were very helpful and friendly. Site and facilities were spotless. We were only there for 2 days and wished we had booked longer, so much to do and see, lots of walks, pony rides and we didn't even get into Moffat town but it looked great. We will be making this site our favorite so far. Thanks to all the staff, you were great!!
We were on our way to the club site at Luss on Loch Lomond when we drove into heavy snow fall on the A74 M near to Moffat, Unfortunately a car ran into the back of our caravan damaging the rear of the van and the tow bracket on our car. We were able to get to a car park on the edge of Moffat and I walked into the Club site in the town. We got immediate help from Tracy and Gary who were on duty at the time. Gary helped us bring our van into the site Tracy offered a comforting cuppa (the snow was still falling), We stopped at the site for three nights to sort the tow bracket and insurance etc. The help given by everyone at the site was first class and very much appreciated under what was quite stressful conditions, We felt lucky because the accident happened near to the site where help was so willingly given.

Friendly efficient reception, immaculate facilities. Staff pay close attention to detail. The ideal centre for a relaxed holiday, peacefull quiet and well maintained.
This site has great staff nothing too much trouble for them, as this site is a really busy site I would now suggest the club now spends some of the money they earn upgrading the toilets they are spotless due to the staff keeping them that way but please give them something decent to work they are from a bygone era, we visit this site on numerous occasions during the year great site, lovley area for walking fishing and close to town.

This site is just a joy, Friendly Staff, Friendly Members and Friendly Town. I noticed the site was looking nice, grass tidy and green well done !! Especially with the weather Moffat's had to face over the winter, I also noticed big improvements made to a lot of the roads and pitches. Once again a gem of a site...Well-done. See you all again soon.
SUITABLE FOR: Families,Older couples,Groups,Peaceful break,Younger couples
I have used this site to break a journey from Bristol to Inverness.I really appreciate having this site open all year. The welcome is always first class and the facilities are excellent. Arriving after dark on a freezing winter evening, I would have been entirely sympathetic if the site manager had simply pointed me in the direction of my pitch. Instead, he buttoned up his coat, led me to the pitch and would not leave until he was completely satisfied that I was fully set up. Excellent. Why can't we get him to run the NHS?
We used this site as a stop over site
on our way home from a winter sun break in Spain. It was our first visit to
this site and we were very pleased with our welcome and the layout
of the site .
The toilet block, although old in style was well decorated and spotlessly
clean a credit to manager and staff. We extended our visit to
three nights. Keep up the good work.

LOVELY PEACEFULL LOCATION WE WILL BE BACK I AM SURE GREAT FOR A STOP OVER WHEN TRAVELING FURTHER UP SCOTLAND .
another excellent stay for 2 nights at moffat, all staff a credit to the club.well done, even the weather played ball.
We have nothing but praise for Mike and Christine, the wardens at Moffat. They were friendly and approachable, always ready to chat and pass the time of day. I recommend their Murder Mystery walk that takes you around Moffat, solving clues and identifying the murder suspect. We thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone, families, couples, young and old. Thanks for a great stay
SUITABLE FOR: Families,Older couples,Groups
We love this site and have now visited many times but cannot get the wifi to work with ipad or android phone even outside the site office
Arrived in the middle of a snow storm everything was white. No problems for the wardens as they were continually out clearing a path to the toilets and keeping the road clear. Been here a few times now and wil be back so handy for the town and local supermaret .Tolets as usual cleaned daily and water taps kept from freezing . Great time watching the snow falling .
great site, great hosts, lovely area, nice town, All well maintained clean and tidy..used it as a stopping off point, but would come back for a holiday
In spite of the heavy snow we couldn't have had a warmer, nicer welcome. Very conveniently situated in town -ideal for provisions when snowed in!! The showers are hot, unlimited time and the facilities are kept spotlessly clean in spite of being a little outmoded. Not an adverse comment but recognising the extra effort needed to keep them to this high standard.
Very welcoming wardens when we arrived mid January 2013. Spotless facilities. Good location for walking with a good range of shops in the town, Will visit again.
Having just returned from a very relaxing week at this great site I have to reluctantly let other campers and caravanners in on this gem of a site. It is situated in the lovely town of Moffat which has a excellent selections of shops and places to eat.The site has good sized well maintained pitches. The toilet block is always clean and I have never had to wait to have a shower. You always get a friendly welcome which is a credit to Christine & Mick and their helpful assistants. We Will Be Back.
DATE STAYED: December 2012
Have stayed on this site on many occasions - in all seasons - and have just returned from our first ever visit over the New Year. Always a warm welcome from friendly and helpful wardens who are always on hand and deal promptly with any problems that may arise. Excellent location for short or long stay. Moffat lovely little town.
Fabulous helpful staff on arrival for our first trip out in new campervan. Booking in was easy although quite busy.
Toilet block old but very clean and warm with extremely hot water at all times. Site is spotlessly clean , wardens work extremely hard.
We will certainly be coming back.
Fantastic, leave the car on site and just wander, relaxation!
We have been using this site for about 20 years and have always found the wardens to be extremely pleasant and helpful. Nothing is ever too much for them. The site itself is in a great position, having wonderful views yet only 2 minutes from the town with all its shops, pubs and eateries. There are several walks from the site of varying lengths. What this site needs, however, is a complete refurbishment of the toilet block and internal access roads; 2 new radiators and a coat of paint in the case of the former and some part tarmacing in the case of the latter just isn't enough, unfortunately, and lets down an otherwise beautiful site.
DATE STAYED: November 2012
just had a 6 night break made very welcome and all staff very helpful especially as my husband was recovering from a stay in hospital, needed help to change the gaz again no problem to staff, checked on a daily basis that we were ok, hope to see you again soon.
SUITABLE FOR: Peaceful break
I spent 4 relaxing nights at the end of November and was very impressed with the site. The staff were very welcoming and friendly on arrival and throughout the visit, and went out of their way to help everybody on site. Although other reviewers have commented on the age of the toilets, I found them to be warm, exceptionally clean and fresh, and well situated. Overall a brilliant wee level location for any time of the year and any holiday.
SUITABLE FOR: Families,Older couples,Active break,Peaceful break
Was here in October nad November, and going back to spend Christmas and New Year there. Am using it as a base to tour from and look for a cottage to rent. The site is great and very busy. The toilets although getting old now, are kept very clean and are checked at least 4 times a day and water is hot and its kept nice and warm. Th estaff are very friendly and helpful, hence I am going back for Christmas and New Year, in all a very good site
DATE STAYED: October 2012
What a lovely site perfect for the time of year. A five minute walk into the town with all its excellent amenities.
If I had to be picky, being 6ft 3ins the shower only came to my chest but hey it was super clean and hot. If you are looking for an all season site with plenty of beautiful countryside walks, this is the one for you.
our first visit to a ccclub site...tracy and her colleagues made us feel very welcome ...everything was clean and tidy and a credit to the staff at the moffat site ..........thankyou
Just returned from a weekend break with the kids and the dog. This is our second visit at the site and could not fault it. The staff are fantastic and the only previous issue was the road leading into the site that has now been sorted. We will certainly be back again as it is ideal if you like a relaxing site with a short walk in to a lovely small town. Please try out the Chinese carry out shop as it is excellent.
Pitches nicely spaced and perfectly level for drive-on-and-off for motorhomes although we did not need to drive out often as so easy to walk into nearby town amenities. Great for dog as convenient dog run as walk into or out of site and then into town. Dogs allowed in at least three hotels where one can have coffees or meals and relax, all very welcoming.Countryside around is exquisite especially with beautiful autumn colours and hills surrounding the town and site always in view.
A good overnight stop or for longer stay.
Very welcoming and cannot wait to go back.
MOFFAT CLUB SITE
Such a delightful place, Moffat Club Site and the town of Moffat go hand In hand they work so well together and that is why we return to the place over and over again, its become a second home. The staff are so nice and so helpful. The site is kept nice and clean with nice and warm toilets just what you need for the cold Scottish weather.
I encountered a major problem whilst touring Scotland, When I arrived at the Moffat site the wardens were so welcoming and gave me help and advise which put my hoiday back on track. I had a first class stay, on the site, and will certainly be heading back there again. A big thank to the Moffat staff.
DATE STAYED: September 2012
We live about 50 miles from this site and have used tents, camper vans, caravan and now a small motor home on this site. Every time we visit we come home relaxed having enjoyed out stay. The staff on site are hardworking, helpful, friendly and always there for you without being in your face. We stay at this site every time we can, our family laugh at us for going so often. We can walk up the town, take a trip to Dumfries, walk the dog or just chill out at our unit. I would recommend this site to anyone. Give it a try, you will not regret it.
We were warmly welcomed by the staff and when we said it was our first time our with our caravan, having used a tent previously, they went out of their way to be helpful. The warden and assistant warned pushed the caravan into place and made sure we were happy with everything. They could not have been more helpful.
The site is close to the town and is ideal as there are lots of walks around the area all accessible without using the car. The town is a few minutes walk away with a good range of pubs, restaurants and shops.
The site facilities were very clean and obviously checked frequently by the staff. It was a great place to stay.
Surly staff, filthy loos, a place where nothing is (far) too much trouble, and the manager positions himself somewhere between Hitler and Stalin in the pantheon of great leaders – we’ve all met some of the above, but at Moffat, even Mrs Bucket, sorry, it’s Bouquet, could run her finger under every loo seat without a qualm.
We went down there from Glen Haggis, to find, well, almost the demi-paradise promised by Shakespeare. Very convenient for travellers to and from Scotland, just over a mile from the A 74, and set in between a charming lake and a background of hills calling out to be walked, it’s a great location. In detail the site is easy enough to get to, very convenient to get around, and the only drawback is that, with the exception of a fairly small Co-op, the local shopkeepers seem to cater only for the coach/tourist trade. (If you want fish and chips, find your way to the local Indian – round the corner and down the steps.)
The main thing, though, is the friendliness and enthusiasm, even towards the end of a long season, of the manager and all his staff – without exception.
Thanks, guys – you deserve this rave!
On the edge of Moffat, a pleasant site with good facilities and very friendly staff. Will definitely return.
What a great site. Something for everyone close at hand. Hill walking, children's play, lots of places to eat, quirky shops, etc just a stroll away. Very relaxing place to be. Very friendly and helpful site staff who keep the site well maintained.
My wife and I found the staff very helpfull and friendly and in spit of the rain we enjoyed our stay, how ever at the arrivel point there is a bush, with a climmer growing through it it was lovely and had a red flower and we would like to get this plant.could you get the staff to give us the name

Big & busy site in a good position for travelling north or south & convenient for shops and eating places in a pleasant town. Within easy reach of countryside and visitor attractions in both Borders & Dumfries and Galloway.
SUITABLE FOR: Families,Older couples,Younger couples
Just back from 2 night stay and can't fault a thing! Helpful welcome, first time caravaners and everyone from reception, man on bike and other caravaners made our first time so much easier! Site is fab, toilets/showers spotless, piping hot water! We asked for advice on walks, went the river walk, fantastic! We went to the black bull for food, can get ur dog in here. Service fab, food fantastic and reasonably priced. Only an hour away from us but felt like we could have been anywhere. Will be be returning soon
This was our first visit to Moffat site although we have passed it on hundreds of occasions, but it will not be our last! a fabulous site with super friendly staff, great facilities a mere two minutes walk into Moffat town which has loads of interesting shops and great eating and drinking places, we were even treated to a fly past of a Spitfire as it aws the aniversary of the death of Hugh dowding the commander of the fighter squadron of the RAF during the battle of Britain ( he was born in Moffat) We kid you not, visit Moffat site, you will not be dissapointed.
Our second visit to this lovely site, we were once again welcomed by friendly and enthusiastic staff who quickly had us booked in and then escorted us to our pitch, the wardens unhitched and pushed our van quickly onto the pitch (without being asked), pointed out the service points and then enquired if we needed any help with anything else (we are not an elderly couple!) and we greatly appreciated this level of service. They did this for many other arriving visitors. The site is peaceful, clean and tidy and with only a short walk into the town it's in a great location. We'll be frequent visitors here! :)
SUITABLE FOR: Active break,Peaceful break
overall this is a very good site within easy walking distance to the town and shops and the wardens are friendly. i have been to this site a few times and have had very enjoyable times. on our last visit the only problem we had was with dog owners not clearing up after there pets, we noticed this on 3 occasions and as the dog walk is only 50 yards away there is no excuse and just spoils it for the other campers
Just spent a lovely 3 nights in this picturesque town. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and extremely helpful choosing a suitable pitch for my husband and I and our 4 year old twins. Our girls loved the fact we were shown to our pitch by "a man on a bicycle that had a bell"!
The toilets and showers were clean and adequate and an alternative toilet was available when main block was being cleaned. No play area for the children but plenty of grass to run around and parks within walking distance. There is a child friendly cafe/ garden shop with outdoor play area called the Green Frog next to campsite and they do a fantastic full english breakfast! There are lots of nice places for evening meals (some of which you receive discount vouchers for from the campsite) in Moffat, again all within walking distance.
Despite torrential rain during our stay, which did cause some pitches to become water logged for a short while, we had a fab wee break.
This is one of our favourite weekend destinations. Love to arrive Friday night and not need the car again until we leave. The High St has plenty of pubs (with 10% off for C&CC), there's the Moffatasia, putting green, play park and boating pond. Hammerlands (now Green Frog cafe) which is adjoining the site offers a great breakfast and 10% off all purchases, has fishery, garden centre and small play area.
Staff very friendly, efficient and welcoming. They obviously work hard as a team to keep the site going throughout the year BUT the toilets are showing signs of their age and perhaps it is time the club put some investment into updating them: floor coverings are lifting and they generally look rather tired. For the number of visitors the site gets 52 weeks of the year it is inevitable that there will be a lot of wear and tear. It isn't really fair to expect the site manager and his team to be able to keep this ageing block in pristine condition!
Home frrom home welcome with all the members of staff polite, an information pack was given, which was comprehensive and very useful, with 10% discount vouchers for dining at a number of establishments within Moffat.Town centre 5minutes away and ,an easy walk to get to.Is now a site which we will be returning to again.
SUITABLE FOR: Families,Older couples,Groups,Younger couples
We stayed at this lovely site for 6 nights in August. The site was very peaceful despite it only being a 2 minute walk to the town centre, where there are plenty of dog friendly pubs.
Lots of great walks and a national cycle route nearby. The site itself was very well kept by the ever friendly staff. Campers seem to use the site as a stopover as it is convenient for the M74, but I would recommend it as a holiday destination in itself.
Excellent Site. Very easy to get to, straight off the motorway, into Moffat and follow the signs. We arrived, with a caravan, at Reception, and greeted by very friendly and helpful staff. We noticed they were very keen to listen and take on board any problems or concerns visitors may have. They just want you have a good stay. Looking around reception, it was all clean and tidy with plenty of tourist leaflets and maps etc. We had no problems with our booking/paying, and we were escorted to our plot. We were close to the washrooms/toilets/dishwasing facilities, very handy for a quick dash when it's raining. All facilities kept very clean. Moffat town is just a few minutes walk away and has some reasonably priced meals on offer at the various hotels. There's also a good range of Pubs/Hotel Bars in town if you feel like some beer. If it's good old fashioned Fish 'n' Chips you're looking for then 'The Moffat Chippy' in Church Street (just off the the High Street) maybe what you re looking for. It's managed by an amazing lady called Toosh, who has been cooking chips for almost 80 years, so I guess they have got to be the best! The best I've had. There is a co op grocers shop nearby (out of the site entrance and across the coach park) for most of your daily needs. If you want to support the smaller retailers then there is a very good Butchers in Moffat's High Street (Wallace Bros.) So how about the site? The bottom line is, we just could not fault it and would definately return.

Great site in smashing location. Everyone was very helpful and friendly and the site is well maintained and tidy. Only 5 minutes walk to Moffat Town Ctr which has everything you need, including great places to eat and drink. Will be back.

Really nice busy site with a friendly welcome and book-borrowing service (my favourite part)! Just a 5 minute walk onto Moffat high street where there are plenty of tourist and gift shops, pubs/restaurants and the famous Moffat Toffee Shop. Some of the pubs have deals with the club wehre get 10% off your meal when you show your C&CC receipt, which we took advantage of. We would definitely stay here again, the only downside was we went for showers at 11.10am to find they were closed for cleaning from 11am-12noon. 12noon was the time we had to vacate the site for, so we had to go without using the facilities. It would be better to close them for cleaning perhaps early afternoon when they would be fairly quiet.

staff was very helpful when booking as I wanted split nights, and very helpful and friendly when I arrived late due to traffic,
They still made me feel welcome on my return journey when I did not arrive till 9pm. The site is clean and well looked after, suitable for anyone to stop there.

I stayed at the Moffat site for one night each on two seperate occassions and despite the fact that Moffat is a very busy site and the inclement weather placing demands on the site work schedules.
All the Holiday Management staff remained unfailingly helpful and friendly and nothing appeared to be too much trouble. Well done Moffat I will have no hestitation staying there again.

I was on my way up to the Scottish Highlands and this was a perfect place to stop. It takes no time to leave the motorway and find the site.
I received a very friendly welcome and everything was done to find me a suitable pitch, considering how saturated the ground was.
Being a keen walker, the site managers very helpfully lent me a map and advised me on a lovely, local, river walk.
My husband and I are just back from a short break to this campsite. We have been a few times and cannot fault the staff on there eagerness to help. nothing was too much trouble and as my husband is disabled we asked for help to get out of our pitch they towed us out with a tractor and this was of great help to us. Thank you so much to all the staff. We will be back again. clean facilities and great hot showers.Very well run site.
Would just like to say a BIG thankyou to
the Site Wardens as we were only booked for one night, The weather turnned absolutely horrendous causing us to alter our plans.
I approached the wardens with my changed itenary which involved changing bookins already made for Glencoe Site and they sorted all my requests out with no hesitation giving My wife and I A woory free Vaction So once again thank you very much.
DATE STAYED: May 2012
I expected the site entrance to be more in the open so initially passed it. I turned round and found my way in. Very pleasant lady in office and then a guy on a bike showed me to my site and explained where everything was. Facilities were first class. Pity about the weather.....
We have visited this site on a few occasions now and each time we have received a warm welcome from the staff. They keep the site immaculate, the entrance is welcoming. They are always busying around without being intrusive and are unfailingly friendly and professional. Moffat is a lovely little town with some pleasant walks along the river and up Gallow Hill. The site is a little gem and so are the staff.
excellent very clean well managed site even the cleaning of the toilet blocks you could set your clock by however grab rails in showers are required now and perhaps disabled toilet facilities could be included in the main toilet block when being updated. Otherwise tremendous site
arrived june 2012 as we arrived we had a shock we noticed water coming out of the fresh water tank having a look underneath the entire pipe work was missing
as ive got asbestosis it would be difficult for me to repair or run back up the road to try and locate the missing pipe
like gallant knights coming to our rescue we soon had an abundance of site wardens helping, of went one with grey stubble and cowboy type hat returned minutes later with missing pipe intact wow .then mr fix-it a small happy scotsman, under my van(remember the rain we have had , he didnt blink straight under motorhome )he was under awhile sizing the job up
wife and i think, great start to our holiday, and we waited nervously.
he climbed out knowing what he needed back soon back underneath and suddenly job was done this good samaritan rescued and saved our holiday thank you
the site was a first time visit and it happened to be the moffat classic car rally
site was busy but quiet , i liked the fact i could take a slow walk into moffat town and brouse the shops. a great site for touring the area we will certainly visit again
We were first time campers with two young children probabally camping on the wetest weekend of the year!
We weren't sure if we should even set off but we did and were so glad we had we had a great stay.
The staff were so helpful particuarly the manager who helped us out no end as first time campers!
The toilets and showers were always clean and the baby room was very handy.
The site is in easy walking distance of Moffat.
We all had a great stay and our 4 year old can't wait to go back.
Thank you so much for your help especially with the electric hook up!
We will be coming again soon!
Great first camping trip even if it did rain!!
The Club would like to advise our members and visitors that the approach road to the Moffat Camping and Caravanning Club Site has been resurfaced during June 2012.
Fantastic site, awarm welcome with friendly and ever so helpful staff. Been to this site about a dozen times and could not fault the site or staff in any way what soever.Have recommended it to friends and friends also agree. Toilet and shower blocks immaculate, grass and pitches well taken care of.We have two young kids and they are asking to go their main holiday to this site, THEY LOVE IT.
Thanks again for a most enjoyable stay.
Had a lovely stay at Moffat on the way back from the north of Scotland. The wardens were very helpful and friendly and nothing seemed to be too much trouble, even though it was very busy as it was the start of the Jubilee weekend. Moffat is a nice little town with plenty of shops, pubs etc. We found the area great for our lab pup, as there was a good dog walk on site and plenty of gentle, safe walks within the area. Also dog friendly pubs which is always a bonus. We will definitely return for a longer stay.
SUITABLE FOR: Families,Older couples,Active break,Younger couples
Stayed at site for Jubilee weekend, simply great. Staff are wonderful, site clean and tidy. So impressed we joined club. Will be back as often as we can.
you have a fantastic site and good helpful
staff.Will visit many more times.
we have just returned from a weekend at moffat and would like to say a big thankyou to the site staff they couldnt do enough to to help us. we were in a group and we were all well looked after nothing was too much trouble . They were very friendly and helpful. we will definatly be going back .Thankyou again.
This was our first site as motorhomers having just bought Dora the Explorer. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We had a great weekend and will certainly return in the future. I would recommend this site without hesitation.
Have only just returned from a 2 day break at this wonderful site & I wish I was back already. Superb helpful staff are a delight to deal with. The site facilities are kept very clean & are of a high standard. The toilet block is large & is kept lit & heated even through the night. A 1st class site which I'd recommend to anyone.
This site is great and I have stayed there several times. However, this year, the access road was full of unavoidable huge craters - too big to be called potholes. Hopefully this situation can be resolved before someone breaks an axle.
A very friendly site with all amenities close at hand. Just park car next to your caravan and walk to shops, cafe, pubs etc. This is our third time here and now it is even better - 'the road is fixed'. No more pots holes, great. A++
This was our first stop on our Scottish holiday. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful nothing too much trouble. Very picturesque site and facilities lovely and clean. Would highly recommend. Will definitely stay again when travelling to Scotland. Locals very welcoming too.

Great site 2 minutes walk to supermarket, pubs
some dog freindly
very helpful hosts what a good idea someone showing your pitch by following a bike
An easy site to get to and very handy for town, shops and local pubs for meals etc. It's a very good location to explore the local countyside it's beautiful. Avery friendly and well run site, would go again.

A 1st class site which I'd recommend to anyone.
This was our first time camping experience. The ladies at the reception desk were warm and friendly. The guide who assisted us to our plot could not have been more helpful, he even offered to come back to us within a few hours to see if we needed any assistance in erecting our tent (thanks Bob ) The toilet and showering facilities were absolutely spotless , We will definately return to Hammerlands and have already starting recommending it to our friends.
SUITABLE FOR: Families,Groups,Younger couples
Managers very friendly here. The site is much improved especially the additional hardstands. Qite a good location for a stop over when travelling north to south (or the opposite way)
site access was bad because of the state of the road, although this has now been repaired, making access a lot better. the site and staff are great. one small critisism the toilet and shower block could do with a make over, but they are clean.
Just had our first stay at Moffat C&C Club. We found the staff extremely helpful and friendly and the site was very well maintained. It was only a 5-10 min walk from the site into the town which had a good selection of shops, cafes and pubs. We thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely stay again :)
Outstanding site, helpful staff - we will definitely be returning.
Very impressed with high standard of service from the staff team who could not have been more friendly and helpful. Perfect balance of having a presence around the site without being intrusive. Staff remembered and accommodated our personal request regarding pitch location, and not only escorted us to our pitch but the wardens very kindly unhitched the caravan and had it positioned perfectly in no time at all.
Liked the information sheet you are given which includes information about where you are entitled to discount and various contact numbers should you require them. We had to call a vet, it turned out just for advice, but it was helpful having the contact number there.
The site is flat and spacious with plenty of room between caravans. Hardstanding pitches and plenty of grass around the site.
Toilet blocks kept very clean, plenty of hot water, good sized shower cubicles and several toilets. Didn’t feel busy, even though the site was full.
A couple of minutes walk and you are in Moffat which has places to eat, drink and a variety of shops. Personal favourites - 2 charity shops, the Moffat Shop where you can buy their famous toffee and a massive selection of “old style sweetie jars filled with all sorts†and a butcher (where we bought food for our BBQ). We had a drink in the Black Bull and saw food being served which looked lovely.
Station Park is a lovely little Park nearby with swan pedalos on a lake, a children’s carousel, ducks to feed etc.
First class site ruined by the councils inability to tar the massive pot holes leading to the sie.[4in number and up to 4inches deep by 4feet long]
Lovely site situated within walking distance of the lovely town of Moffat. Site wardens could not have been more friendly and helpful, we were made to feel very welcome. The site consists of spacious flat pitches and offers warm, clean facilities. The showers are lovely and warm with the added benefit of not having to keep pressing a button to keep the water flowing like some showers we have used!
Moffat offers lots of local, friendly pubs and cafes, and some great small shops to wander around. Whiskey tasting in Moffat Mill is a must. We also found a lovely park and boating lake at the back of Moffat Mill which would be great during warmer weather!
Many thanks for a pleasant weekend.
We received a very warm welcome & nothing was too much trouble for the staff.Very helpful in recommending places to eat & pubs with live music in the evenings which were a very short walk from the site!!
The showers (although a little basic) were great..clean,powerful & with lots of hot water, just what we needed after spending the day on the motorbike!!
All in all a really nice site in a beautiful part of Scotland.
Really warm welcome, lovely site, really clean - will go back
Just returned from 3 night stay over May Bank Holiday Weekend. Now been about 5 years in a row either Easter or May. Was allocated our favourite grassy pitch that we prefer over hardstanding for our caravan. Friendly welcome and liked being accompanied to pitch with a bit of help/advise for reversing in in new car to towing. Love the easy walking access into town from this site and load of eateries to enjoy and nice shops. Also like that this part of country is considerably more dog friendly with Buccleugh Hotel & Green Frog happy to let our pooch in whilst we ate. Both great for food and also like Claudios for evening meal. Only problem is the size of potholes in shared access road. Getting deeper & wider every year!!! Keep u good work on site & we'll def be back.
What a differance a Year makes!!! Well 2 years in fact - we last stayed here 2 yaers ago and it was in the process of being upgraded it was an absolute mud bath at the time with grass not cut and hard standing going in heavy plant machines etc. well what a wonderful surprise when we returned in May 2012 - we had only booked for an overnight stay as we were on our way home from our trip - the wardens are very friendly and helpful and offered information on the area and even gave vouchers for discounted meals at places in Moffat they helped us choose a suitable suuny pitch and even accommpanied us to the pitch and saw that we got pitched up ok -the site is now obviously well cared for and has a pleasent and relaxed feel to it - the shower/toilet facilites are not as modern as they could be but none the less they are clean warm and there is bags of hot water whenever you need it - we cannot wait to return - thanks guys for a lovely experience -
Stayed here in March an was surprised at how popular it was, Clean and tidy, didnt have to queue for showers.walking distance of moffat. would reccomend the narrowest Hotel in Uk for a meal, we ate there and was really pleased with it. Will deffo be returning.
DATE STAYED: March 2012
Just back from a two night weekend break with the kids. Very friendly welcome by the staff, shown to a nice pitch that they selected for us due to having the kids (away from the access road). Great facilities, I agree that the toilet block is dated, however it is still up there with the best, very clean and hot water that you don't need to press a button for. Easy walk to the coop and Moffat Toffee Shop!
The only downside was the signage to access the site, which in our opinion was very poor. Once off the main road we didn't know which fork on the road to take! Make sure you go left and then right keeping the childrens nursery on your right hand side! Other than that, a fab site and we'll be back!
Very convenient for overnighting, being close to the M74. We received a warm welcome from the team, who helpfully made two additional reservations for us at other Club sites in Scotland (it was a Sunday and the Central Reservations office was unavailable). They also made sure we were allocated a pitch that suited us at Moffat.
The site is large and close to town. Our only tiny frustration was the need to use a security code to access the toilets and showers. No doubt there is a valid reason, but being somewhat mature in years and also requiring reading glasses, it was slightly fiddly and inconvenient, especially after dark.
Otherwise, the location provided a welcome stopover. Thanks to all concerned for providing us with a pleasant visit.
Staff are amazing, a warm greeting every time almost like family.Co-op shop very near and the pubs are very welcoming. Excellent site.
DATE STAYED: February 2012
Great site with easy access off the motorway, but don't just use as a stop over! Moffat was a lovely area with loads of walking and cycling direct from the site. I didn't get chance to try the forest mountain bike trails so will be back. The facilities were dated but spotless so don't be put off. The showers were piping hot and the design of the cubicles was better than many modern ones with loads of room and a good dry changing area. After many years with the Caravan Club this was our first time using a Caravan and Camping site. We could not have been welcomed more warmly by the wardens. This really did feel like the friendly club. Looking forward to finding more places like this!
We stayed at this site after a week at another club site. Arrived just after 12 with another family on a very busy Easter bank holiday wknd, great welcome by wardens who were rushed off their feet but booked in and shown to our pitch very quickly next to each other. There is a lovely garden centre 5mins walking distance from site we took all 5 children (ages 5-14) fishing there and they all managed to get a fish in 2hrs well worth a look. The down side to this site is it only has 4 showers and on a bank holiday wknd is not enough as you had to wait in the morning to get in and feel rushed to get out when you are trying to get yourself and 2 children all done together. There is plenty of hot water and loads of sinks and toilets so that was not a problem. This site is in the town and is handy to pop to the shops but didn’t like the fact that anyone could walk in to the site.(all the club sites we have been on have been out of the town a bit so not used to this)a bit noisy on site but nothing that would keep you up.
SUITABLE FOR: Older couples,Groups,Active break
My wife and I have visited here many times now, it has gradually become more of an attraction to us as it is central for exploring the border area by car, bus or walking, as mood takes us. our most recent visit was intended to facilitate a hillwalking break for us unfortunately my wife suffered a nasty fall resulting in some fractures to her elbow and ribs (on a stroll along the river) our second day. The assistance we received from the local surgery and the site supervisors was excellent sympathetic and helpful. The friendly Site operators Mike, Christine and their colleagues helped to make up our minds to stay on (the good weather did help) Thanks to the friendly club once again. See you on our next visit to Moffat
Just got back from touring south scotland, the highlight was our stay at moffat.
only intended one night but stayed for three, the site was looking realy good, can anything beat the smell of fresh cut grass .the loos and showers where spotless.
In fact the whole site was as pretty as a picture.
The near bye town of moffat was very handy to get a meal or a bit of shopping.
But best of all the staff at the site were probably the most helpfull and friendly group you could find.
We will be visiting moffat again to spend more time at a great site with superb team to look after us, THANKS.
An undiscovered gem, made perfect by the friendliness of the wardens. Much to do and activities to suit all tastes in and around Moffat. We will certainly return.
Warmly welcomed on arrival with wardens only too pleased to help.
Facilities are spotless with plenty of hot water etc.
The site being so close to the lovely town of Moffat is a big plus as you have everything you need more or less on your door step.
Plenty excellent places to eat and drink and also plenty of lovely walks that start around the town so no need to drive.
We loved our stay and hope to return soon.
Fantastic site to relax and recharge the batteries. The site wardens are very helpful and nothing was a problem. Toilets are spotless with plenty of hot water for showering. We will definitely come back to this site for short breaks.
From the site easy access to local Bus Routes, local places of interest, Beauty spots, Interesting walks with varying degrees of difficulty, both short local walks and Hill walking for the more active in easy reach of the site
DATE STAYED: March 2010
Brilliant situation close to shops, pubs and eating spots.Generally an excellent site.
Warm welcome and nothing too much of a problem for our hosts.
local scenery fantastic, only an hour north of the Lake district and a nice change. Roads very quiet this time of year. Wonderful drives out, loads of good walks. One of the few large sites open up north in the winter.
DATE STAYED: January 2012
Site wardens, Christine and Mike, couldn't be more helpful. Christine resolved a central booking problem instantly and Mike made us very welcome after an arduous journey.
Arrived late in the wettest fullest weekend in October, met by great manager who help reverse us (novices)in to pitch in no time at all obviously a proffessional what a great guy! Saw the site in probably worst conditions very wet everywhere however will go back lovely flat site with lots of hot showers even at busiest did not have to wait, good dog area, town a pleasure to walk to for coffee, can't wait to see it in the sunshine!
DATE STAYED: October 2011
We had a short stay here in August and had a lovely time, the site was very busy but still quiet and friendly. The toilet blocks were immaculately clean and well looked after. A short walk to the town centre shops and restaurants, we found that the town was dog friendly and dogs are welcome in most of the pubs. Plenty of walks close by too. We would definately stay here again.
First time we have visited this site which we thought would just be a convenient stopover on our way back from The Highlands and what a lovely surprise it was. Extended our stay to 3 nights but could have stayed much longer. A really warm and friendly welcome with spotlessly clean facilities. Easy walking into the quaint town with great dog walks along the river and doggie friendly shops and pubs. So much to explore around here with fabulous walking in the area. A special mention to the Manager for his help when I inadvertently flattened the car battery. Even though he was very busy he broke off to get us on our way with a cheery smile. We will definitely be back.
DATE STAYED: September 2011
As regular pilgrims to the Moffat site, we enthusiastically endorse all the praise and highlights recommended by other visitors, especially with regard to staff charm, efficiency, and tireless care of both site and campers. The perfect geographical situation of the complex with its pleasant rural views, tranquillity, convenience shopping and dining, good TV, remarkable freedom from traffic noise, together with the wonderful variety of exploratory excursions available on the quiet roads of the surrounding beautiful countryside make Moffat our No. 1 campsite. We've compiled a sheet of suggested outings for campers who want to make Moffat more than a mere stop-over on the way north. There's enough to entertain stately home and culture lovers, garden explorers, walkers of all abilities, shoppers, serenity seekers, and even sedentary sightseers of the unusual and spectacular. Sheet available from site office.
We are just home from another wonderful visit to Moffat. The moment you arrive, the staff make you most welcome. The site is in the town with plenty of eating and drinking places. There are many great walks around the Moffat with varying distances for all ages and abilities. A most relaxing place.
Brilliant site...just what you would expect of a Club site. Everything was excellent. A great place to break our journey going north and on the way home. Thanks. So close to food shopping and the town, but tucked away out of sight. We will be spending a week there next year.
This is a lovely site in a beautiful area, the town of Moffat is a gem. We ate at the Buccleuch Arms Hotel and the food was delicious and the s taff very friendly.
This area is well worth exploring, so don't use the site as just a stop off to the Highlands, stay a while and enjoy.
Always loved the town of Moffat and now use this site as stop over from visiting the Highlands. This time stayed a couple of nights and was delighted to find some lovely marked walks that are good for the dogs as the exercise area at the camp site is small but with lovely walks only 5 minutes away this no longer matters. Moffat is a nice little town with everything you need at hand. The site is one of the bigger ones but despite this is quiet. Although over 55 now I am sad that this large site can't find the space for a little toddlers play area as the one in the park is quite a way away for little feet. But for us it is ideal, not only as a stop over but to spend a few days exploring the very pretty area and an ideal site for those who want to visit Scotland but can't face the long journey to the Highlands as it has everything the Highlands have but just slightly smaller mountains - but the tallest waterfall in Britain - the Grey Mare's Tail.
Really liked this site. Have been before and both times have found the staff very helpful, with some great recommendations for eating in the town. Moffat is a lovely little town and the site is only a short walk from the centre. As others have mentioned, the shower block is in need of some updating, but is spotlessly clean with plenty of hot water.
A great stop off, right at the side of the motorway, when travelling to and from the Highlands. Would also highly recommend Claudios Italian Restaurant who offer a great two course deal between 5.30 and 6.30pm a few minutes walk from the site.
Many thanks to all the staff at this excellent site. They are really friendly and extremely helpful. We received a five star welcome despite arriving in pouring rain. The facilities are very good and the shower block is spotless - it is checked four times a day.
A great site and definetly worth spending a few days here, easy walk into town. The staff are excellent and I must single out Bob one of the managers for his ingenuity in helping us repair a leaking sink with a bit of bycyle inner tube.Nothing was too much trouble and helps to emphasise this truly is the friendly club.
Staff where ok, no complaints however could have been a little more friendly. Facilities are dated and could do with make over, also although they where clean around the surfaces could have been better. Sites location is perfect though.
SUITABLE FOR: Older couples,Peaceful break,Younger couples
The Moffat site is perfect for that overnight stop en route to the Highlands, but whereas Moffat and the surrounding area is pretty, the club site gets more and more surrounded by buildings each time we visit. The dog walk is enclosed but very short and next to a fast flowing beck.
SUITABLE FOR: Families,Active break
This site was chosen as we have 2 dogs. the dog walks although small were more than adequate as the countryside was on the doorstep. The staff were friendly and very helpful with suggestions of where to visit.
The camp site is very central to the shops although maintains a countryside feel to it.
The shower block was more than adequate with lots of hot water.
This is definately a site we will visit in the future.
After a long break from camping (3yrs), I booked in at Moffat with my new wife and the site was as usual, immaculate and the staff were so friendly and accommodating as they always are. The toilet block is need of an upgrade but still all in excellent working order and spotless. Will be returning.
This is our favourite site, we have visited several times and we just love it. the staff are brilliant, really friendly, and helpful. The toilets and showers are fine, clean and adequate. And the site is 2 minutes walk from the co-op and the town centre. great food and friendly pubs. There are loads of good walks around the village. My only negative is nothing to do with the site. Why do some dog owners think that the whole world wants to hear their yappy Dogs. One Lady had three Dogs who yapped all day. She might think they are cute but i dont. A dog bounded up to my daughter one day on the site and the owner shouted, its OK it wont hurt you.. Thats not the point GET IT ON A LEAD.
I actually like Dogs but some people give dog owners a Bad name.
Otherwise, Brilliant holiday
DATE STAYED: July 2011
As first time caravanners, this was an excellent site. Having two dogs, it was also dog friendly with good facilities and wonderful walks near by. Also being able to walk into town for shopping/restaurants was a bonus. The staff were very helpful and friendly.
First time at this site and we had a very warm welcome. The staff were so hard working, very friendly, helpful and informative, just what you need. Very good location for less mobile people as only short walk into the town with plenty of shops etc. A very busy site with 7 members of staff working flat out all day and not a frown in sight.
Facilities were dated but very clean and not a problem for us. Nice to have separate area in shower for getting dressed, hate all those little white stools and no dry changing area. Nothing to do with this site but
please why do you have to pay 20p on C& C sites for hairdryer when all other electric included. Not only that but it timed out before my 'short' hair was dry. Would definitely go here again if travelling North. We know there will be a warm welcome.
A break was very much needed and we had just that.We didn't want to go home. We were met with a very warm welcome on booking in, then shown to our pitch.
The site wardens were all extremely friendly making us feel welcome. If we met them when out and about on site they took time to speak to us.
Site facilities were very clean with all the amenities we required.
Site greatly upgraded since we were last there at the end of 2009.
The town is only a few minutes walk from the site with everything we required.
We have recommended this site to friends since our visit, we intend to go back for a long weekend before winter sets in.
Loved the Moffat site. Staff very friendly and approachable. First time tourers and when we asked the Manager for advice on puting up an awning he come over to our caravan and physically put the awning up for us showing us how it was down and twice later on asked us if everything with the awning was ok. Absolutley fantastic service from the Manager himself and will not hesitate in returning to this great wee site.
we stayed on this site for 4 days i cannot fault the staff they really are friendly and took you to your pitch. and help you get settled in to your pitch and what stood out for us was we saw a staff member help a couple pitch there motor home. the roads around the site are narrow so be careful when going around with caravan etc.especally if your towing a large van The showers let the site down big style as my husband is 6ft 2ins and he had to bend down when he wanted to take a shower they really need updating though as compared to other sites they are very much out of date and for a club site i thought they would be better. they was a lot of noise from a party out with the site but was told that this is not the normal thing.
A nice campsite, with friendly personell. Even places, to sleep straight in your tent.
Excellent site and very friendly staff. Facilities are large and very clean. Easy walking distance to town and all facilities.
Great stay and vrey friendly staff. The only drawback is the rather dated toilet block. I'm 6'4" and you know your onto a bad thing when 2 of the 4 showers only come up to your arm pit and the other 2 you still have to stoop under!
The rest of the site is lovely just revamp the toilet block.
On arrival on a very busy weekend we were shown to our pitch and unhitched the caravan. We quickly realised we had been given a potentially very noisy pitch, as a large group of campers with lots of children were directly behind us. As one of our children has special needs (and finds it hard to get to sleep at the best of times), I returned to reception to ask if a quieter pitch was available. I explained the situation and one of the wardens (tall, slim, friendly - sorry, didn't catch his name!) went out of his way to help. Not only did he find us a perfectly quiet pitch, but he even went and got his little tractor and actually moved our caravan himself! Five star service indeed and very much appreciated.
A clean and well maintained site with helpful, friendly staff. The pitches are well spaced with easy access. Lots of pebbled hard-standing surrounded by manicured grass. The loo block was spotlessly clean but could do with 2 more showers and fewer wash basins to help ease the morning rush. Nice views of a field of sheep, trees and hills, but right beside town for shops/food/drink. The wardens gave us lots of helpful info on what to see and do and we had lovely weather which made for a great break. Thanks for your help.
Excelent site rain or shine. 4 mins from town centre. Beauifully kept and well managed - a credit to the hard-working site team. Nothing was too much trouble. Already booked our return stay. Dog-friendly area!
We are just back from another great stay at Moffat. This is a wonderful place with staff to match; they are friendly, helpful and make you feel really welcome. The site is part of the small town of Moffat with all the facilities anyone needs. Great marked walks from the site from a few miles to a good walk. There is only one small BUT, the toilet facilities are all out of proportion to peoples requirements. Seven toilets, ten sink units and only four showers, six of each would be more appropriate.
I have stayed at Moffat many times and love the site, we usually try to make it our first trip of the season. This is the first time we have stayed with our large tent and requested EHU in addition. Unfortunately the site don't do jumbo pithes with EHU but we were given the option of paying for 2 pitches, which we gladly agreed to do. We arrived after 24 hours of heavy rain and were shown to our pitch. It was just off one of the roads through the site and therefore visibly sitting in one of the very few dips on the site. I did ask the gentleman guiding us if we could pitch immediately opposite but this was dismissed without discussion (shame as no-one else pitched there for the duration of our stay). We were told very specifically and rather patronisingly where to pitch - having a corner marked for us. We began to pitch and realised that there was a 2 foot pool of water in the middle of the pitch. We just moved our tent over slightly to avoid this. Unfortuantely we then had a good deal of rain for the rest of the day and night. This found us surrounded by water and our tent in a muddy bog. Now I am very aware no site is responsible for the weather but I have never expereiced mud like this at any site before and certainly not at this flat well drained site. The pitch I had expressed a preference for remained dry the whole time. Aside of this dissapoitment, most of the team there are extremely friendly, Christine is particularly helpful. The facilities are immaculate and it is very handy for the delightful small town. The Buccleuch Hotel offer superb food. The surrounding area was beautiful as ever. Will visit again but will avoid pitch 100 like the plague.
On arrival we found the site wardens very friendly and helpful.Site was very busy but didnt disrupt our stay.Toilets and showers were kept clean.Soon remembered the code for toilets.Very handy having the dog walk on site. Not alot for the kids to do but would recommend a visit to the station park
We have stayed at this site several times and have always found it to be a very friendly, clean site. The managers are very friendly and helpful. The only drawback is the access road to the site which is full of extremely large and deep potholes. Because the road is narrow and has a few sharp bends it is extremely difficult to avoid these holes, especially with a large caravan outfit. These holes are present from previous years and now require urgent attention.
having alwaysdrove past Moffat before decide to stay. Excellent site with extremely friendly and helpful staff. There are excellent walks from the site and the town has excellent places to eat. Definately a site to return and others should consider staying longer than overnight before travelling further north or south!
SUITABLE FOR: Older couples,Groups,Active break,Younger couples
SPENT 5 DAYS ON THIS SUPER SITE INSIDE THE TOWN OF MOFFAT.PLENTY TO DO AS ONLY FEW MINUTES WALK TO CO OP/PUBS TOWN ETC.VERY WARM WELCOME AT THE GATE WITH WARDEN TAKING YOU TO PITCH.CLEAN TIDY SITE,NICE SHOWERS AND TOILETS.OVERALL A REALLY NICE EXPERIENCE.WELL WORTH A VISIT.
We have been to moffat on a couple of occasions and have enjoyed each visit. The road into the site is a bit narrow so be aware of oncoming traffic round the tight bends. The site itself is flat, clean and tidy and the staff take you to your pitch. Toilet block is nice and central and also very clean and tidy. Never an issue with hot water. We have a baby too and use of the baby change facilities as a private room was fantastic. Our only complaint was the passing of comment by a female member of staff regarding our membership being part of the Fife DA. As this is the area (and a large one at that) this is where we belong to. She then promptly asked if we had ever been out with them before and to ensure that we tidy up after ourselves since in the past there have been issues with Fife DA members!!! A bit rude to tar everyone with the same brush. Otherwise a nice wee site minus the comments.
Just returned from a 7 day stay and will definately be going back. We stayed with 3 dogs and still didn't complete all the nearby walks. The site is immaculately maintained and very friendly. Moffet town is 2mins walk away and we didn't need to use the car which makes a nice change.
Give it a try you won't be dissapointed.
Exceptional staff who are so friendly and helpful. This site is ideal for everyone.
Moffat town is just a few mins walk away and there is so much to do. Site facilities are excellent. I have visited this site many times and have never been disappointed. Highly recommended.
DATE STAYED: May 2011
Fantastic site, we go there maybe 4 times a year. New staff are very nice and extremly helpful, would recommend it to anyone and have done.Amenities are always spotless and easy access to both able and disabled members. The site itself is immaculate and always kept neat and tidy ( although a kids play area would be really walcome). Thanks again for a happy and relaxing break.
We can give nothing but praise for this site and the wonderful staff that run it. Mike and Andy have gone out of their way during the recent storms that have hit Moffat, They visited our caravan over 8 times within the last 3 days to make sure that our awning was secure and our elderly parents who we using the caravan at the time were ok, above and beyond their call of duty.
The site is lovely and clean and well looked after. The town of Moffat is less that 2 minutes walk away with various eating houses and sweet shop that made our sons eyes pop out.
This is our third visit within the last 12 months and we will definately be back. In fact if it wasn't a 5 hour round time from our home I would visit this site every weekend.
travelled to various sites in scotland this month this was one of best facillities excellent, clean , taps you can turn on, single cubicles for privacy.( what a nice change being trusted to not over use water). staff friendly, pleased to help, great area for walking dog and able to take dog in nearby black bull inn while having a meal! will be back.
we have our caravan sited here, the local town which is only 2 minutes up the road has all the amenities that you need, couple of nice pubs with good food,it also hosts a few good walks for dog owners, who are more than welcome on this site, staff are amazing, nothing is to much trouble for them, friendly, fully informed about local events, its also not to far if you wanted to go to a bigger town, peebles and dumfries are only a 25 - 45mins away, beautiful country side surrounds this site great for walkers, with a lovely river running along side this site, would highly recommend this site, you should give it a try....
Friendly site and very convenient for the town of Moffat, only 2 mins walking to shops and hotels. However the access road is poor with large potholes and very narrow in places - impossible to pass if another unit or lorry approaching. Site is well maintained but the facilities extremely poor. Old,cold and totally inadequate shower facilities. Only 4 showers in the ladies - and only 3 operational for the 8 days we stayed. When I queried this was told "waiting on a plumber" - for 8 days? And why is the toilet block only heated at the weekends, Friday pm to Sunday?? It was raining and cold for the whole of our stay - not just the weekend.
Fantastic little site which we use alot 3 or more times a year.
The site is undergoing (2010/2011) some upgrades and will look great when completed. The road in can be slight worn and some pot holes so care should be taken. The toilet block can be cold in the winter and a bit dark but they are always very clean...

As you have probably read the site is used alot for stop overs and for this the site is adequate. We however stopped a week and found the site too close to the town and a huge school behind it(be aware that the school bells rings frequently)The dog walk only covers a small area and alternative dog walking is some distance away, in fact out through the town. Scenery can be found but you will need a car to visit it. The toilet facilities were clean but very jaded/dated.

We love this site. BIG plus is the 4 minute walk to the town centre, eating places and pub. The site is being improved with each visit but did not disturb any of our stays there. Freindly, knowledgable staff who keep the site clean and tidy. Facilities are central with decent showers.
Good dog walk along the river which is being improved. Only one mile off the A74 so a good overnight stop for those travelling distances north or south. We will definately return.
I love this site to bits. Have stayed there many times just love it as you can park up and there are lots of lovely eating places in the little town especially the Bucchluech Hotel, meals are out of this world and not very expensive. Lovely walks from the site also. Only down side is the showers and toilets very dated need refurbished badley although theyb are kept very clean.

We have been coming to Moffat site for a number years now,the close proximity to Moffat town and all it's facilities are great bonus as are the many surrounding country walks.
The site toilets and shower facilities are however a bit "tacky" and in need of a serious major facelift.
This doesn't stop us visiting this great site that could be greater if the facilities were up to the mark.

our fourth visit to this lovely site very handy for local site seeing and a short walk into town for friendly pubs and great restaurants and take aways. live music every Thursday night in the Black Bull great food. The site managers are wonderful and nothing is too much trouble. Many thanks to Sylvia and Ron. for making our stays so memorable

Having booked early for November 2010 and looked forward to our visit, it was a major dissappointment. This was our first outing ever!!! We had booked with friends and they received a call to say some work was being cariied out on site, we however had no notification whatsoever - What an understatement. The site groundworks are being fully refurbished. We had a Tarmac machine outside our caravans on one of the mornings at 8.30am (not ideal, this I add was squeezed past my friends car. No of the staff notified us of this and one customer was held up for over an hour trying to exit the site. Going for showers semed pointless as you ended up covered in mud by the time you got back to your caravan feeling as if you needed a further shower. The dog walks weren't ideal, the end of one of them looked like a building site, my 2 dogs had to stay on their leads. This was frustrating as we had mentioned we had large dogs who need exercise daily. I only wish we had known the extent of work being done, we could have booked alternate dates. I am sure we will visit again at a later date, but never again to a site that is having any work done. The lack of information gven before our visit was appalling. However on a good note I am sure the site will be lovely when finished. Yes, I will visit again, staff very friendly.

Always enjoyed every visit great New Year in Moffatt and good food and pubs
DATE STAYED: December 2009
I rejoined the club after several years break and now both retired so able to take advantage of age concessions
We would not have booked on line as we were unaware until arrival that building work was in progress, Monday to Friday, increasing hard standing capacity, revamping power and services points.
However, other than the wake up call at 8 each morning, the noise of digger, dump truck, and reversing beepers at times, there was no undue impact.
We both enjoyed our stay and will probably visit again excellent amenities, warm and clean
friendly, helpful staff but DO use the site entrance map from the main road.
Only stayed one night en-route further North. Would certainly stay here longer on a future Scotland visit.
The site book is accurate. It is only a few miles from the motorway.
The town of Moffat is nice and has plenty of facilities.
The lane to the site is very narrow and badly in need of repair.
As this lane is used by those other than camp site users I guess there might be some difficulty about who pays for road repairs.
Only a five minute walk into town. Definitely worth a visit.

This was a site picked for a stop off while traveling to visit Scotland from Cornwall as it was just in the right place for a break for first stop up last homeward , Having used this site we liked the area very much & wished we had more time to investigate the area as it seems such a nice town & countryside , very busy site when we where there so very popular so hope this will not make pitches unavalabe by being over used with sites at a premium .

We used this site to use as a stopover on our way north and stopped here for a couple of nights , it is very convenient for Moffat town centre a five minute walk from site , which is a nice little town with all the shops you would require and more , next to the site is the Hammerlands centre which is a small garden centre and fishing lakes ,it also has a café that does decent meals , just out of the entrance is the Edinburgh Woollen mill site , with its usual range of merchandise .the site its self is a lovely flat site which is larger with 180 pitches than its appearance makes it look , and the facilities are up to normal C&CC club standards , this site would be ok for short stays but I didn’t find enough in the area to make me want to come back for a longer stay ,, there was a decent dog walking field at the entrance , but there was plenty of walks from the site anyway although you would need to keep dog on lead
