Just spent 2 glorious sun drenched days here, fantastic place for tents/caravans/motorhomes. Dog friendly too. Well placed location on the edge of the loch and good location for walking. Only drawbacks the on site shop is very limited, and a very small play area for children. Your are not too far away from a local store, if you have your own wheels. I'd highly recommend it.

We stopped at campsite on spur of the moment from Saturday afternoon until Sunday afternoon, lovely clean welcoming site, clean facilities. We had a beautiful walk along the beach for about a mile and a quarter to small town where we enjoyed a drink and a meal, wonderful weekend.
Thank You

Just come back from a wonderful time at a wonderful site. On arrival, we were met by Ann and Martin who were both efficient and friendly. Martin very kindly offered to help me manoeuvre our caravan by hand so that we could have simply stunning views over the loch from our front window.
The site was very wet underfoot, apparently tents weren't allowed at that time as there was nowhere dry enough for them, but our hardstanding pitch was fine. Luckily all the surrounding grassy areas were well trimmed so the kids could play without their feet becoming too wet. The children's play area was, unfortunately, unusable because of the puddles, despite the copious amount of bark that had been placed there to soak up the rain from a dreadful summer. I suppose there is only so much that can be done by the wardens in the face of such wet weather.
That said, the toilets, showers, family room and dishwashing areas were all spotless despite the puddles outside.
My only negative points would be the limited number of dishwashing sinks (2) for so many potential users. We didn't have to queue, but I imagine that in peak season that could be quite annoying.
We really enjoyed this site; the attention to detail, the stunning views and the friendly staff mean that we would be happy to recommend Milarrochy Bay.

Fantastic site !!!!! Stayed here for two nights and wanted to stay longer but there was no availability, unfortunately. My husband and I absolutely loved it. Spotlessly clean showers and toilets, about 8 of each in ladies and the same in the men's. POWER showers were brilliant. Plenty of local information available. We picked up a leaflet for the woollen shop in Aberfoyle which was lovely. On the two days we were heading back to the site we saw a group of red deer in the fields on the left. A stag and 6 or 7 hinds which was amazing. Pitched right on the side of the loch which was a little frightening, as it was raining hard and very windy but it was our choice. Can't wait till next year to visit again. Thank you to the wardens.

Mixed feelings with this site as when we turned up, there was a group of kids on an activities week......very strange to uson a C & C site.....but they were camping at one end of the site and eating at the other, so the noise they made between the two was really loud and annoying. Fare play to them though, by 11pm, the site was silent. Once they had gone the site was pretty quiet and peaceful.
The facilities were clean and tidy and the staff were always on the ball with that.
We found the atmosphere a wee bit clicky when the boaters arrived by the weekend....pays not to go to a site for launching boats, when you dont own one....O well.
Otherwise, the site was good and beautiful views of the Loch. Highly recommended if your wanting to walk parts of the West Highland Way. Enjoy :-)

Towing - watch for the 15% hill just after a blind left hand bend just as you leave Balmaha. The road narrows after the bend so take care especially if a long and/or wide unit! Take extreme care when leaving as it is then a blind left hand bend leading into a narrow road - a touch of the horn is recommended!
A beautiful quiet site on the banks of Loch Lomond which fills up with backpackers each evening. Barriers at entrance and exit but no code / card needed.
Choose your pitch carefully if you want to access satellite TV - ask the wardens for advice.
Good mobile phone access
Facilities adequate with codes, but only one block - disabled facilities also in this block and by use of winding ramp.
Only two washing up sinks for the whole site! Not enough for 150 pitches!!
Site WiFi very intermittent - seems to switch off at night but then may be off for a couple of days!
Had to use my internet dongle for quite a bit of the time but shouldn't have needed to do so having paid for Site WiFi
Rowadennan Hotel - to north of site along lakeside (3 miles) - fair food, but we found it noisy with blasting-out music
Oak Tree Inn in Balahama - good food and reasonable prices with local beers served - much quieter!
!

Very friendly welcome from site staff and seem to really have made a difference this year as site is looking very good indeed. Only problem is site access for larger units as the last couple of miles is along a narrow road with a very steep climb up a blind bend at Balmaha. Site is rather isolated so make sure to stock up with provisions before you go!Small shop at Balmaha and a Spar at Drymen ,just dont expect a superstore on the doorstep! Midges not a problem this time as any breeze drives them away.Hope to get some sun next time!

This is a Gem of a site where pleasant and helpful Managers and Staff meet you on arrival and really work hard to ensure your stay is a great one. The pitches are well spaced and all the facilities are really clean. There is mention of only one shower block but it is really big and we never had a wait. The site location is stunning. We had the canoe with us and it is so easy to launch on to what must be one of the most beautiful loch in the World. We have already booked in again for later in the year. Thank you.

We stayed here for 5 nights with our son who is a wheelchair user. The facitities were excellent for him, the only downside being the paths weren't that great. There was a lot of gravel and some holes, making it difficult for us to push him. The staff were great, the site was excellent and the area brilliant. Bring plenty of midge repellent, you're going to need it!

We arrived on Friday, 30 July 2011 (Scottish Bank holiday weekend and a folk festival was booked in Balloch) and had no booking. Think the campsite was already busy, however the Warden is a very friendly and accommodating chap and offered us a pitch, which turned out to be very good. The pitch was near the main toilet block and within easy access of the loch side. Some noise on the Saturday night but that is to be expected, people are on holiday and want to let their hair down. The noise died down very quickly around 11 pm. Would definitely use this site again in the future.
The Warden does an extremely good job making sure all his duties are attended to and there are no issues with the guests. On Saturday evening I noticed someone came along at around 7 pm looking for a pitch, the Warden said he was fully booked but managed to accommodate the campers. This shows a commitment to the site and also how friendly and eager to help, especially on a Saturday night. Keep up the good work and we hope to see you again very soon x

Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice, clean site which is well looked after. If visiting again would request to be kept away from the main road as it got a little noisy in the tent during the night (thought a car was going to end up on top of us at one point!). Pitch next to Loch would have been preferrable. Midges not too bad either. Great fun, kids had lots of fun at the play park. Nice a quiet site!

On arrival we were made extremely welcome by reception staff. We were offered a good pitch with electric for our 6 berth tent. The grass area was very well looked after as was the rest of the site. The toilets and showers were very clean, modern and had private cubicles with individual wash hand basins. The site manager was is a very friendly guy as are the rest of the site team. They have a real passion for the site and it really shows.
For a quiet, very friendly and relaxing weekend I would definately recommend this site........well done to all staff and thank you.

My first experience of a CCC site with my young son and small tent. Excellent welcome from all staff - we were very helpfully given a pitch by the loch as we said we wanted to go out in our canoe. Facilities are great and clean. Walking and loch sports are there on the doorstep and the hotel at Rowardennan is a short drive away and had live music. Def be back.

We stayed here in July for 2 nights with our two children. The wardens'were all extremely helpful especially as we are new to motorhoming. Nothing was too difficult for them.We felt reassured to see how often they circled the site checking all was ok.The shop kept the usual snacks, rolls eggs etc. Dish washing area, laundry and washing facility spotless.Codes needed to access toilets and showers. There is coastal path to Balmaha from the nearby visitors centre. This was beautiful but for less mobile persons could be difficult and to walk the narrow road instead to Balmaha is a little long and dangerous in places. There is a little beach near the site and a few spots for kids to try a spot of fishing which my son really enjoyed.More experienced persons could be seen launching small boats from the site too.Bike hire is in Balmaha which is a good 35 min walk kayaks also available.Water boat leaves balmaha frequently to visit other sites of interest. We really loved this site. Only drawback were the midges!! Advised by lots of campers and caravanners that Avon skin so soft spray works the best as deterrent!!!

This is a wonderful site. The location is superb, right next to the loch. Midges can be a problem at some times however the toilets and showers were superb, and the location was wonderful for walking or boating. The site was small enough to be friendly however towing a van was tricky for the last couple of miles with a steep hill on a corner presenting a bit of a challenge! Worth the effort though, would definately visit again

We have been to this site twice this year. Being on the West Highland Way, it is a great place for walks and the steeper forest walks in Cashel are rewarded with beautiful views across the loch. The coastal walk to Balmaha can be rewarded with a lovely meal in the Oak Tree.

Fantastic place to relax and enjoy the sights of the Lock from the site. We've been there a couple of times, and found it to always be peacefull, even with children around. Easy place to launch a water vessel from. Easy location to get to fantastic walks. The first year we stayed there, we say a large male deer, walking through the woods, just up the road. Don't know if we were jst lucky on that occassion. The toliet/shower and washing area's are spotlessly cleaned everyday. The laundy facilties are good, and not expensive. The staff leave you to enjoy your stay at the site, and also very helpfull should you need to know anything. Excellent, thank you.

The site staff were very helpful and friendly. The main toilet facilities were always spotless along with the rest of the site. The drainage seemed pretty good in most places. We were pitched with our back to the road (with trees between us and road). Caravans got the pitches on the loch side. If you do prefer loch side pitching in a tent there was another area that you could pitch but there was no electric down there.
We tended to use the backpacker facilities for washing up which were clean most of the time with decent big sinks but the backpacker toilets, which are unisex were horrid and always full of midges so we walked the extra few yards to the main block for the loo and shower. The main block has a coded door which you have to punch in each time you enter. All very clean and never had to wait for shower.
There is a nice pub down the road in Balmaha which serves food or go up the hill instead almost as far as you can go (few minutes drive) to Rowardennan and there’s a pub there, part of the Rowardennan Hotel. Gets a lot of hikers in there as it is directly opposite the path to Ben Lomond and has a colder less cosy feel to it than The Oak Tree but still decent food served at good prices.
The walk to Balmaha from the site along the loch side is lovely. We were advised not to cycle that due to the tree roots etc but we did anyway and were glad we did, we just had to push at the narrow parts and over some drainage areas that’s all.
There’s a nice little village shop next door to The Oak Tree pub as well which sells everything you would need along with gifts and postcards etc. There’s a large car park across the road and a visitor centre but apart from that Balamaha doesn’t have much else to offer. It’s quite a trek to the nearest big supermarket but there’s one or two to choose from.
We definitely plan to return to this site if we visit the area and just hope for better weather which would have really made the stay special.

Upon arrival was pleasantly greeted by the staff and shown to my pitch which I had the choice of opting for a pitch out of the way with lovely views over the loch.
My stay was slightly spoiled by some campers who were still a bit rowdy at 2 am with singing and laughter which was keeping myself and partner awake.
Overall the site was lovely with a good general standard of clenliness and should appeal to all ages can only hope rowdy campers are not common place.
