This was our first here and wont be the last! Site the manager could not be more helpful and it was great to be able to order our papers and rolls every morning. The site itself was first class. Walks and scenery were lovely and being able to go the local hotel outside the camp was really handy for meals and a few drinks. Can't recommend this place enough!

A little gem. A lovely quiet site with level pitches for all and a delightful burn. We came with a tent in frosty and wet weather; Keith and Carol could not have been more considerate, often checking if we were warm enough or in need of anything.
We would definitely return as this is a place for history and walking. Easy bus access for Edinburgh and many gardens and houses within a twenty mile radious

Have I just found my favourite camp-site? I think so.
This small site has loads going for it, quiet and peaceful, but only a short drive or bus trip to get into Edinburgh or Lauder. And a great pub with good food, at the top of the driveway.
We used the site as a base to explore the 3 Abbeys and some castles in the boarders, and had a great time.
For this trip I booked the electric hook up, as it was April, and this is Scotland, which put us next to the small burn that flows the length of the site. The drainage on the site is really good, there was a lot of rain, and the puddles drained away reasonably quickly, but that gives for some hard ground to get the pegs in.
The wardens were good with my two boy's who loved going to the shop to order the rolls and papers, and to collect the next morning. One small point that parents might want to be aware of is that the field for ball games, also doubles up as the area for tents, so if the site is busy there will be no ball games, but not an issue in April.
Lastly I must mention the toilets and showers, even the kids talked about how clean they were. The cleanest camp-site I've been to.

We have just returned from a wonderful stay in one of the four timber chalets at Lauder and have to say the stay totally surpassed our expectations! The chalet was incredible value (and we stayed as non-members in high season) - very spacious yet cosy, spotless and had absolutely everything you'd need for a break away. We were even allowed to have our dog stay with us in the chalet which was great. Keith and Carol were lovely hosts from the booking process right through to when we left and we can't believe they've only been there as site managers at this particular site for 2 weeks!! They had organised Easter events for the kids which seemed to go down very well with the families there. The site was very peaceful and perfect for the quiet retreat we were looking for. Easily accessible, a lovely pub right on the doorstep and incredible walking trails right from the site - all in all it's a real gem, we can't wait to return!

After some last minute change of plans and seeing past reviews for Lauder, we packed our camping gear and set off for our first family camping holiday with 3 young children.
From our first arrival we were made to feel welcome. Bob and Sheena explained everything we needed to know and we chose to be sited near to the burn.
Bob and Sheena could not have been more helpful throughout our stay and have a site to be proud of. We had a lovely area for our children to play and daily paddles in the burn were real fun!
As a first camping holiday for us as a family we could not have asked for more. Lovely fresh bread and papers delivered daily with a well stocked shop. Bob even lent us waterproofer for a few small leaks that appeared in our 'vintage' family tent. We even won the weekly raffle and enjoyed a lovely breakfast in the local hotel The Lodge. Relaxed reading, kids learning to cycle, playing field games.......just what our memories of camping are filled of and memories that our children will have formed forever also.
An excellent site, run by perfect wardens. Would recommend without hesitation for all!

Having recently spent a week at this wonderful site we cannot recommend it highly enough. From the moment of arrival to the sad morning when we had to leave we were made very very welcome by Bob, Sheena and the staff...who could not have done more to make our stay enjoyable. A mine of information about local attractions and amenities, Bob even went to the trouble of downloading a write up and menu from an Edinburgh restaurant for a special birthday meal. We were also able to borrow a book outlining all the attractions and history of the city, ensuring that we didn't miss a thing...and of course ensuring we return to visit the places we didn't manage to squeeze in.
The site itself is extremely well kept and so pretty, with a babbling burn running through it to add that little bit of Scottish Magic. The shower block, which is first rate with plenty of hot water plus hairdrying facilities, also incorporates a very good laundry, and the undercover pot wash area is large enough to accommodate a sizable (male) gathering. The site shop is well stocked with all the basics, some luxuries and newspapers to order. An added bonus is a very nice restaurant close to the site entrance which offers an extensive menu of good food at reasonable prices - the haggis was superb.
Despite changable weather we had the best week ever and can honestly say it was one holiday we did not want to end.
Bob & Sheena are doing a great job here and have every right to be proud of themselves.
We shall most definitely be back.

we went to Lauder on the back of the great reviews on the site, and we were not dissappointed at all. Met by the manager Bob, who was warm and welcoming and explained everything to do with the site very well, also had a choice of pitch for our big family tent too... Got it right by the Burn, it was heaven. The facilities were 5 star also, being kept spotlessly clean and fresh with hot water a plenty. I would definately go back and have already recommended this site to family and friends. Keep up the great work Bob and Sheena it's a site to be proud of.

Just returned from spending a week at this site.
We were made very welcome on arrival by the manager Bob, who explained everything about the site to us and then showed us several pitches to choose from. All the staff were very friendly.
The site is ideally laid out. The facilities are set in the centre of the site and therefore pretty much central for everyone.
The toilets and showers were kept spotless at all times and there was always plenty hot water available. The same for the washing up area.
Will definitely return to this site again.

This is a lovely site - very peaceful and everything pristine.
The staff are very friendly and helpful.
There is a small shop on site with most things you need - they will order fresh rolls and newspapers for you each day if you want them. There is a river along the edge of the site and horses in the field next door - all the kids on the site loved these. There is a pub a stones throw away which does food so you don't need to travel far if you want to eat out. The site recommends all the good places to eat in the area anyway -ask them if you are going out - they know the places not to go to aswell!
Roads are very good locally and unless you are going to Edinburgh, you should be able to get around very easily without being stuck in traffic.
Best of all, the toilet/shower blocks were spotless with lots of hot water all the time.

Our first visit to this site but hopefully it won't be our last. We received the warmest and friendliest welcome at any site ever from Bob & Sheena. Nothing was too much trouble including help with pitching. Also, having stopped en route to stretch our legs and our dogs I stupidly left the dog lead on the caravan A frame when we drove off. Surprisingly, when we arrived on site it had disappeared. When we asked Bob & Sheena where we could buy a replacement, not only were we directed to the nearest "dog lead shop" we were lent a lead until we could purchase a new one. Service above and beyond. A lovely stay on an impeccably run and maintained site. Thoroughly recommended.

The site is a perfect place for a peaceful borders break. I've stayed here a couple of times whilst working in the area and have found it to be a great place to relax. The site managers are friendly and more than accomodating. They keep the place meticulously clean and tidy with lovely hanging baskets. The area is great for walking, and there are bunnies living on site so fab for small children. There is a nice pub a few minutes walk away which does good food. Highly recommmended.

We just went for one night but will definately go back again, We found the Site Wardens to be extremely helpfull and accommodating and were even offered, and accepted, a morning paper delivery service. The site was very well kept and had beautifull hanging flower planters around the central building which made the place look very nice indeed. There is a hotel a few yards down the road which has very good food.
As it is only 40 minutes drive from Edinburgh it is an ideal base to enjoy the peace and beauty of the countryside and also have easy access to Edinburgh's attractions. Highly recommend this site. It's a little gem!
