We arrived on a wet afternoon and the warden was quick to open the gate and welcome us. He was very willing to come out into the rain to show us round the site. He was very helpful and offered us a choice of pitches, he had a very friendly manner which made us feel very welcome.
The site is level and the facilities were perfectly clean and in excellent condition.
The site is only 4 miles from Lauder and it is an easy walk to bus ride to the town. There are lots of walks around the area of the site. There is a hotel near the site which served great food.
I've recommend this site to anyone wanting to see this part of the Borders, it was really a great place to stay.

A little gem of a site well maintained in an attractive setting, freindly site managers, spotlessly clean facilities, easy access for all outfits. There is some background noise from the A86 but its some distance away, so its no more than a background hum.

this was our second visit this year, and as before our welcome from Karen and Keith was an excellent experience, the site was every bit as clean and tidy as our first visit, we found the pub just out side the site a bit expensive, all the other guest we spoke to to were very friendly, without a doubt we will visit again.

This site is a Gem. Very quiet and secluded. The staff bent over backwards to help in every way. I could not believe the amount of wildlife in and around the site. Pubs, Resteraunts, shopping all nearby. The site is a very good base for visiting attractions in the Edinburgh area. If there was a place I could choose for a peaceful chill-out this site would more than fit the bill

This was our first ever site visited with our newly purchased caravan - what a great welcome we got.
The site was well maintained, fresh rolls and paper available every morning, nothing was too much trouble.
The dog walk area was great, plenty of grass and bins and was well used by the dog owners on the site. We didn't see any dogs allowed to wander. It was a real pleasure.
If all sites we visit in the future are as lovely as this one we will be truly lucky.
Thank you.

Had a wonderful week here in July 2012 in this pretty, well maintained campsite. We would particularly like to thank the wardens – they provide a friendly welcome and we liked the way they dealt with everything. We felt that they were so easy to approach with questions – everything was straightforward.
We enjoyed our days out and lunches in Red Lion Hotel Earlston – good food, friendly atmosphere. Really nice was The Fisherman’s Arms Birgham beside the River Tweed – turn off the A697 before Coldstream - its on the A698 road between Coldstream and Kelso. (see it on Facebook). The little village itself won the Floral Competition for “wee villages.†This is a handy spot to stop on your way to/from the Coldstream Guards Museum at Coldstream.
We also loved the Fruit shop in Lauder High St – many varieties of soft fruits – including red currants and doughnut peaches – new to us.

An extremely friendly welcome from the extremely friendly wardens, very helpful and informative, nothing seemed too much for them. The site is secluded, open and clean, a wee gem, the facilities were always clean and tidy. If there was a negative to this site, it would be the traffic noise from the main road in the early morning.

Immaculate well run site with very friendly wardens.
Toilets/showers spotlessly clean complete with fresh flowers.Nice quiet location away from main roads but not walking distance to Lauder.
£16.50 per night for 2 adults with EHU was good value for money.
Would make ideal stop off point if travelling north or south.
Hotel with restaurant nearby but a bit expensive

Stayed at this site for 4 nights. It's an absolute gem. We are CCC members and thus far, it's the best. On arrival, though the reception wasn't open (it's open 9am-11am and then 4pm-6pm) the site assistants were easy to find as they were busy tending the site, and once we'd met, nothing was too much trouble. Ricky and Chris were just what you would wish to have as Site Assistants. Friendly, warm and welcoming. Being a CCC member for a number of years I don't generally single out individuals for praise but I will on this occasion. Top notch, both of them. I was amazed when they said they had only been in the job seven weeks. If CCC hierarchy have any sense, retain them and let them continue with their wonderful sense of what it takes to run a site.
Pitch was excellent on well kept grass. Surrounding views, lovely. River, Burn, Brook or however you would describe it, runs at the bottom of the site. Bird watchers, you would love it.
The information provided on site, strangely in the Laundry Room, with regard to local amenities is top notch. Carefully considered and well presented. We had a number of queries with regard to visiting the Royal Yacht and Edinburgh Castle. Although Ricky and Chris didn't have any first-hand experience they were eager to learn of our experience. Indeed, they made a point of letting us know they had told several people of our tips.
I support all comments with regard to the facilities. My only reservation, and this is a gripe with many CCC Club Sites, is push-button showers.
If I have another gripe then it would be the fact that the entry barrier is closed throughout the day. It's not locked, as it is with other CCC sites between 11pm-7am, but it is bolted. Means if you are leaving or returning from the site, you have to get out, open and close the barrier.
Two minor gripes. Would I recommend this site? Wholeheartedly. We wouldn't be planning on returning this coming Autumn otherwise.

We visited this site with our children for the first time over the half term period, which included the Jubilee weekend. The site managers Keith and Carol made us feel really welcome and did a great job of keeping the place clean and tidy. They ran a well stocked shop that offered local produce, which was useful, and were able to offer good advice on the local area. Over the Jubilee period Keith and Carol were assisted by Richard and Chris. Richard did a particularly good job of organising the kids/adults events of lawn darts and horse racing, which was enjoyed by many of the campers. The Guinness Book of Record event of gathering campers together wearing crowns was another great fun event. We had a great time, despite some poor weather and would visit again.

Have I just found my favourite camp-site? I think so.
This small site has loads going for it, quiet and peaceful, but only a short drive or bus trip to get into Edinburgh or Lauder. And a great pub with good food, at the top of the driveway.
We used the site as a base to explore the 3 Abbeys and some castles in the boarders, and had a great time.
For this trip I booked the electric hook up, as it was April, and this is Scotland, which put us next to the small burn that flows the length of the site. The drainage on the site is really good, there was a lot of rain, and the puddles drained away reasonably quickly, but that gives for some hard ground to get the pegs in.
The wardens were good with my two boy's who loved going to the shop to order the rolls and papers, and to collect the next morning. One small point that parents might want to be aware of is that the field for ball games, also doubles up as the area for tents, so if the site is busy there will be no ball games, but not an issue in April.
Lastly I must mention the toilets and showers, even the kids talked about how clean they were. The cleanest camp-site I've been to.

We have just returned from a wonderful stay in one of the four timber chalets at Lauder and have to say the stay totally surpassed our expectations! The chalet was incredible value (and we stayed as non-members in high season) - very spacious yet cosy, spotless and had absolutely everything you'd need for a break away. We were even allowed to have our dog stay with us in the chalet which was great. Keith and Carol were lovely hosts from the booking process right through to when we left and we can't believe they've only been there as site managers at this particular site for 2 weeks!! They had organised Easter events for the kids which seemed to go down very well with the families there. The site was very peaceful and perfect for the quiet retreat we were looking for. Easily accessible, a lovely pub right on the doorstep and incredible walking trails right from the site - all in all it's a real gem, we can't wait to return!

After some last minute change of plans and seeing past reviews for Lauder, we packed our camping gear and set off for our first family camping holiday with 3 young children.
From our first arrival we were made to feel welcome. Bob and Sheena explained everything we needed to know and we chose to be sited near to the burn.
Bob and Sheena could not have been more helpful throughout our stay and have a site to be proud of. We had a lovely area for our children to play and daily paddles in the burn were real fun!
As a first camping holiday for us as a family we could not have asked for more. Lovely fresh bread and papers delivered daily with a well stocked shop. Bob even lent us waterproofer for a few small leaks that appeared in our 'vintage' family tent. We even won the weekly raffle and enjoyed a lovely breakfast in the local hotel The Lodge. Relaxed reading, kids learning to cycle, playing field games.......just what our memories of camping are filled of and memories that our children will have formed forever also.
An excellent site, run by perfect wardens. Would recommend without hesitation for all!

Having recently spent a week at this wonderful site we cannot recommend it highly enough. From the moment of arrival to the sad morning when we had to leave we were made very very welcome by Bob, Sheena and the staff...who could not have done more to make our stay enjoyable. A mine of information about local attractions and amenities, Bob even went to the trouble of downloading a write up and menu from an Edinburgh restaurant for a special birthday meal. We were also able to borrow a book outlining all the attractions and history of the city, ensuring that we didn't miss a thing...and of course ensuring we return to visit the places we didn't manage to squeeze in.
The site itself is extremely well kept and so pretty, with a babbling burn running through it to add that little bit of Scottish Magic. The shower block, which is first rate with plenty of hot water plus hairdrying facilities, also incorporates a very good laundry, and the undercover pot wash area is large enough to accommodate a sizable (male) gathering. The site shop is well stocked with all the basics, some luxuries and newspapers to order. An added bonus is a very nice restaurant close to the site entrance which offers an extensive menu of good food at reasonable prices - the haggis was superb.
Despite changable weather we had the best week ever and can honestly say it was one holiday we did not want to end.
Bob & Sheena are doing a great job here and have every right to be proud of themselves.
We shall most definitely be back.

We were made very welcome on arrival by the manager Bob, who explained everything about the site to us and then showed us several pitches to choose from. All the staff were very friendly.
The site is ideally laid out. The facilities are set in the centre of the site and therefore pretty much central for everyone.

This is a lovely site - very peaceful and everything pristine.
The staff are very friendly and helpful.
There is a small shop on site with most things you need - they will order fresh rolls and newspapers for you each day if you want them. There is a river along the edge of the site and horses in the field next door - all the kids on the site loved these. There is a pub a stones throw away which does food so you don't need to travel far if you want to eat out. The site recommends all the good places to eat in the area anyway -ask them if you are going out - they know the places not to go to aswell!
Roads are very good locally and unless you are going to Edinburgh, you should be able to get around very easily without being stuck in traffic.
Best of all, the toilet/shower blocks were spotless with lots of hot water all the time.

Our first visit to this site but hopefully it won't be our last. We received the warmest and friendliest welcome at any site ever from Bob & Sheena. Nothing was too much trouble including help with pitching. Also, having stopped en route to stretch our legs and our dogs I stupidly left the dog lead on the caravan A frame when we drove off. Surprisingly, when we arrived on site it had disappeared. When we asked Bob & Sheena where we could buy a replacement, not only were we directed to the nearest "dog lead shop" we were lent a lead until we could purchase a new one. Service above and beyond. A lovely stay on an impeccably run and maintained site. Thoroughly recommended.

Went to lauder for the first time 13/6/11 for a week, and wasnt to sure about it as the picture in book doesnt do the site any justice, but what a surprise we got when we got there it is beutiful and spotless, and the doggy walk has a lovely stream running beside it,and it is nothing like whats in the book, the managers bob, sheena, jean and julien couldnt of been more helpful and friendly, and keep the site spotless,we were so impressed we told my sister who has motorhome too, and we all booked up for another week from 14/7/11 and it was excellent, all in all if you want cleanliness, friendliness, beutiful clean site and surroundings ,dont be put off by picture in book, and you can even get your papers and rolls delivered too,all in all first class managers and first class site

This site was absolutely fantastic!! The staff were amazing from start to finish. I even got to choose my own hard standing....wow......and not forgetting the staff do a little money lottery for the hanging baskets etc and we won. How wicked was that :-))). Everything was so tidy and immaculate. The site is so peaceful and lovely. Even a stream flowing around the edge of it which works for a spot of fishing for the kids, or a cooling swim for the dogs. I would highly recommend this site to everybody. What a great weekend we had!!!

The site is a perfect place for a peaceful borders break. I've stayed here a couple of times whilst working in the area and have found it to be a great place to relax. The site managers are friendly and more than accomodating. They keep the place meticulously clean and tidy with lovely hanging baskets. The area is great for walking, and there are bunnies living on site so fab for small children. There is a nice pub a few minutes walk away which does good food. Highly recommmended.

We just went for one night but will definately go back again, We found the Site Wardens to be extremely helpfull and accommodating and were even offered, and accepted, a morning paper delivery service. The site was very well kept and had beautifull hanging flower planters around the central building which made the place look very nice indeed. There is a hotel a few yards down the road which has very good food.
As it is only 40 minutes drive from Edinburgh it is an ideal base to enjoy the peace and beauty of the countryside and also have easy access to Edinburgh's attractions. Highly recommend this site. It's a little gem!

What a lovely little site. It was so peaceful and relaxed that we wanted to stay much longer. A site for those wanting to get away from it all...not for those wanting late night parties and lively activities. This has to be the friendliest site we've stayed on and certainly the cleanest. Bob, Sheena & Geoff run things extremely well and nothing was too much trouble for them. 10 out of 10 absolutely....we'll definitely return.

Just spent three nights at this lovely site. We got a very warm welcome from Bob and Sheena. We were able to choose our pitch from three locations on the site which was a bonus. Although there is no play park on the site this did not stop our girls from having a great time. We all enjoyed our stay so much we are booked up for another weekend in two weeks. The friendliness of the staff is second to none and we were made very welcome.

Second visit to this site and it won't be the last! Setting is lovely with walks from the site and plenty of good places to explore nearby. Edinburgh just a bus ride away too. Last but not least, very well-kept by Bob and Sheena who were so helpful and patient to a 'rookie' campervanner - however daft the questions!
