Very friendly wardens, gave us a lot of infomation re the sites of the C&CC.
As has been mentioned the toilet block is looking a little dated, but very clean and sutiable.

We had the pleasure of visiting the Kendal site twice this year, May when the weather was kind and October when it was "mixed". On each occasion we were treated to a friendly welcome by Wardens Joy and Graham who not only directed us to our pitch but on each occasion Graham was there assisting me to unhitch, a service greatly appreciated after a long and tiring M/way trip. They were always about and always with friendly advice, a joke or a cheery word "lovely people". The site itself is an ideal base for the south eastern side of the lake district and so convenient to Kendal. It is not surprising therefore that the site is so well patronised. "Sadly" it is badly let down by the "primitive" toilet block, which I must add is kept spotless by our ever cheerful wardens.
It really is time that the club up graded these facilities, even portacabin facilities would be a vast improvement.
2012 will hopefully see us heading North and again Kendal will again be our destination. Joy and Graham will sadly not be there to greet us "retirement beckons", We join what must be a very long list to wish them a long and happy retirement. GS & P Roberts

Arrived in the dark due to a crash on the m/way, site entrance needs lights easily missed in the dark, Grayham and Joy the managers could not have been more helpful walking in front with a torch to place my unit, site its self very clean and peaceful, a walk along the river to morrison, aldi, halfords, and more was a 15 mins away. I will visit again. I'm sure all members will wish Grayham and Joy every happiness in their retirement good luck in whatever you do.

A lovely small site within easy walking distance of Kendal town centre. Facilities are basic but clean and the staff couldn't be more helpful. As a tent camper I wouldn't like to stay in high season as there are currently only three showers/toilets in the ladies and two in the gents (so i'm told!) and two wash up sinks, although we were told that an upgrade to these facilities is on the cards. All in all we had a lovely time here and would recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet off season break :-)

Wardens only said hello when you said it first.
Out of 7 nights stay my husband found there was no toilet paper 4 mornings and there was none twice in the ladies this was at approx. 8.30am (at most sites the wardens check the toilets late at night and renew toilet paper as needed)
Toilet seats in two toilets were loose for the full week, not forgetting not a huge choice of toilets here!!
Pitches very small, no choice on which awning door you want to use, we were on the pitches which had very high sloping grass banking round the pitch, this made it difficult for knocking the pegs in.
If the wardens took as much care with the rest of the site as they do with their patch of 'garden' it would be a much better site.
And yes there are pot holes in the roads all round the site.
Site is in a great location very handy for supermarket etc.

what a fantastic break, lovely, clean, quiet and well maintained site. the facilities are brilliant, the staff very helpful and welcoming. everything you need for a stress free break, our children loved it and it was a safe environment for them. only a short distance from Kendal town centre and 5 minute drive to the local supermarket and petrol station. it is also easy to access the lakes, Windermere is only 20 minutes away. we highly recommend this site to all ages. thank you very much, see you soon.

We enjoyed a lovely three night stay on this site and cannot fault the welcome or the cleanliness of the facilities and site itself; the only slight drawback was that there weren't quite enough showers for the number of pitches and we often had to queue, even at 9 at night, and the site wasn't full. All the same, the location is smashing next to fields and river, and only a ten minute walk to Morrisons for supplies trips, 15-20 min stroll into town. Would recommend this site, most definitely. A great base for the southern Lakes!

Loved this site, really nice and would go back. Supermarket next door, Kendle 15 minutes walk.
My only hesitation is that the Toilet Block, although clean, is too small for the site. there was a queue for the 2 toilets in the Mens and i had to wait until the afternoon to get a shower. Otherwise good, the staff were really friendly and very helpful, yes the WI fi doesnt work but who wants wi fi when you are on holiday anyway.
My only negative comment is about thoughtless dog owners, I am not sure why folk would want to have 2 very large dogs in a very small tent, their deep bark was very ANNOYING. especially at 5.15 in the morning.. I actually like Dogs but some people give dog owners a Bad name.
Otherwise, great site and brilliant Holiday.

This was our first visit to a club site and very nearly our last, the pitch was poor and badly sloping regardless of trying different positions with the help of seasoned "motorhomers" the words that will ring in my ears are "don't let this place put you off" there are better out there, I have to say that there are, perhaps this site could take a leaf out of Scarborough's book.
very poor dog walk, do not consider it appropriate to walk dogs through a field of sheep with lambs. nothing to do for the kids.

used this site for a couple of days as a stop off when we were on our way to Luss in Scotland, the site was lovely and peaceful and the wardens were very friendly, our pitch was idyllic and right next to the footpath at the bottom end of the site, we really enjoyed our stay here and if we do venture up this neck of the woods again we would'nt hesitate to stay here, we only wish that our stay was longer

Site is mid-sized set in the countryside and fairly level for the most part. Friendly atmosphere.
Contrary to some coments, the facilities are perfectly adequate - male and female toilet/washing facilities each with two showers, a number of basins and toilets. Clean. Also, dish and clothes washing area with a tumble dryer. And a phone and small shop.
Site postcode doesn't work well with TomTom. Go to Kendal, take the A6 north marked for Shap or Penrith. Just out of town, you'll see a 150yd camping sign on the left and then a well-marked right turning onto the campsite access road.
Short riverside walk to retail park with a supermarket. Kendal about 30-40 minutes further on.
Kendal is basically a pedestrianised area with most of the usual national chain shops surrounded by a one way system, which is OK when you get used to it. Some restaurants, shopping, galleries and so on. Supermarkets are out of town. Abbots Hall Gallery is worth a look and the Brewery Arts Centre close by does decent coffee and croissants.
Good jump off location for Windemere and points north.
In emergencies, the local camping equipment supplier is about five miles south east (LA8 0FB).

On this site some of the pitches have been upgraded, however, we were allocated a small, very sloping pitch despite the fact that several of the upgraded pitches were available when we arrived. The warden explained that it was necessary to allocate pitches in order to accommodate larger outfits (presumably on the large upgraded pitches). He did his best to find us a better pitch, this one was grass and sloping in another direction, slightly better, but still poor. The facilities at this site are woefully inadequate. I imagine the condition and state of repair of the shower cubicles would make it impossible to clean them properly (hence only two stars for cleanliness). We booked in for five nights but stayed for only two.

This site is very well situated as within a mile there is access to a supermarket and the town, yet still in the beautiful countryside. When registering some people who got impatient at having to wait for what was quite a long time, the female member of staff miscried the owner of that car in front of her customers (I could overhear this despite having to stand outside because I had the dog). Then, when my husband didn't have his membership card on him (I was displaying mine from the outside - not allowed in with the dog) she talked to him like a little boy "...next time you keep your card on you". We later asked if there were dog friendly pubs in the surrounding area and this same female member of staff said that she doesn't have time to spend trying out pubs because she's always working here. We suggested that perhaps she could ask her customers to to report back and record what the local pubs were like.
Although the facilities themselves were spotless the toilet block and (+ one other)could do with a bit of an upgrade.
Despite the initial hiccup, this is a lovely site.

We had a lovely holiday at this site 4 years ago and wanted to try again, we were not disappointed. The staff where very welcoming & extremely helpful, the facilities were lovely and clean. The weather made our stay more enjoyable and its only 5 minutes in the car from Kendal, yet there is a lovely walk taking 40 mins along river bank. There is a lovely animal rescue centre you can walk around with ponies/farm animals and parrots flying free, with cafe in courtyard, just outside Shap next to Jersey ice cream factory. Site is 15 minutes from Windermere. Would recommend site to anyone who wants to explore or just spend time relaxing on site. Will definitely return again in the future.

Arrived 20 mins early and told we had to wait until they finished cleaning! Not happy with two children after long drive to get there. Not permitted to book in before 12 (not been a problem at other sites). Neither were we allowed to pitch up and then to book in when they were ready. Waited in car outside "reception" until 12.10 and then phoned and were told they were waiting for us in "reception". They didn't bother to knock on our car door to advise they were ready for us to book in. Decided not to stay and went to Windermere CC site which was fabulous with a warm welcome.

On Arrival we were happily greeted by our hosts.
We were informed rock pegs were not required for the awning, but found they were, as under the gravel was a base of concrete.
At our plot we were offered good advice and assistance.
I am convinced the WiFi on this site is FAULTY as two feet from transmitter and in the reception area, (a converted static), a full signal was achieved at 6 feet away no signal was possible.
The Ladies and Gents Shower/Toilet facalities are of a very poor standard, extremely dissapointing.

The site is in a lovely setting but within walking distance of Kendal and the supermarket mentioned by another reviewer. There is a lovely walk along the river that runs past the site. I agree that the facilities may be limited when the site is full but they were very clean and in good working order and with about 25 pitches occupied they appeared to be hardly used.

What a little gem! so near to the town yet feels in the depth of country. The site managers could not have been nicer when my husband had a bump with the electricity post! A nice mix of young and old on site, nice to camp amongst quiet youngsters. As for the toliet block concerns some have raised......I didn't notice anything amiss myself. In fact I think sites like this offer good basic facilities. It's not a five start hotel after all! Perhaps that is what stops it being overcrowded.....suits me I rarely visit the lakes cos I don't like the crowds.....will definatly be going to Kendal again this year.

the Kendal site access road was badly potholed.allthough the staff where friendly and welcomeing, the site toilet block is not good enough (small/only two showerbooths/toilets and washhand basins)for todays 'camping and caravan club'. too small for the amount of persons trying to use the facilities.
we booked 2 nights but only stayed 1 night because of the poor block.
I think the club should remove this site from its books untill a new block is built.
