Found the site easily, on arrival staff were friendly and the site presents itself very well, appears clean and the large lake is a nice central focal point. Check in was simple and the assistant was full of information. We only stayed here for 2 nights and although the weather was wet and windy I am keen to return, I would imagine the site is fantastic on a hot sunny day. Showers and toilet all ok, have come across more modern but perfectly useable and clean. The only thing to remember here is that the reception doesn't really sell anything and if its wet the dog walk (which looks good) isn't really useable unless you have wellies. Kids play area is good and has a fence and gate surround which keeps little ones safe. I Look forward to returning to this one!!

We stayed a couple of nights but found the facilities to be in need of renovation. Also on arrival at some sites you are given plenty of information, perhaps this could be a little bit more comprehensive. That said the staff were very helpful.

First camping trip of the year and despite the changeable weather had a great time at Horsley. We were greeted with a friendly welcome and personally escorted to our pitch. As it was April with only a few campers we were given the choice of chosen our own.
The new playground was excellent and a good meeting point for our four year old to get some time with kids his own age.
The site was lovely and clean and we had nice hot showers each morning and evening. I don't fish but I enjoyed watching some lads catch an absolute whopper which they advised me weighed 8 lbs!
Horsley is a great location for exploring the delights of Surrey. There is a great village just a few minutes away with a bakery, take always, convenience store etc.
We enjoyed it so much that we have booked for July.

This really is a site in a beautiful setting around a lake. We would be glad to stay here again. There's a train about 25 mins walk away & it's near to Surrey Hills for walks etc. When it's wet, it does get muddy so be prepared!

Very friendly people running the site - always a smile and a joke. Great fishing. New Play area is very nice and our kids loved it. Hot, free showers. Easy reach of the major roads and Horsley village for shops and the station. Road in to the site is very narrow and so is the entrance gate so care needed.
Only downside is the lack of phone signal and Wifi - only one booster at reception so you can get it there and on the pitches nearby but most of the site has no coverage and little phone coverage.
Overall though - would highly recommend.

We visited this site in September from the moment we arrived we were made welcome a very tidy site & the showers & toilets were cleaned to a very high standard only one down side my wife wanted to use the toilet block when they were being cleaned & was told by a very abrupt lady to use the toilet at reception . The lake was a real bonus very good fishing & well stocked would we come again yes we would .

This site is well below the standard of other club sites we have visited. The staff in Reception were friendly when we arrived but when we asked for some help getting our caravan in position on the pitch, the member of staff who showed us to the pitch just said "I drive a campervan", shrugged his shoulders and cycled off. Thanks.
There was usually a queue for the showers which were fairly clean but too old. There are no recycling facilities and no hand sanitizer near the chemical toilet disposal.
The site was noisy - not just because we were there at a busy time of year - but because the staff seemed to drive around the site almost constantly on a small tractor.
The site is a 20 minute walk from the railway station so access to London is easy.

This was the 3rd time we have stayed here. Very friendly site the staff were exceptionally helpful and in control. We had our 2 dogs with us,one only 4 months old, the Dog Walk was brilliant. Our 5 year old granddaughter spent most of the days with us and absolutely loved the new play area. Family members came in their tents for a long weekend and had a wonderful time. Only complaint we had was the poor TV signal and no Wifi access in the field we were on. All in all we can only thank everyone for a great couple of weeks and will certainly visit again.

Horsley is a wonderful site. We spent four nights here in a tent and from the minute we arrived the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The facilities were great, everything we needed was there and was maintained to a very high standard.
The site is in a lovely rural location with some beautiful walks nearby. It also had a fantastic fishing lake that I would highly recommend for carp fishing! In addition, the villiage of East Horsley is a short walk away, with plenty of shops and a train station with regular services to central London.
5 out of 5 for this place, I'll definitely be back!

This was our first time at Horsley, it is a tranquil site tucked away down the end of a small lane.
The site is quite large, there is a beautiful lake with day fishing available, the facilities are adequate, clean and functional, the play area is nice and safe for the kids. There is a dog walk although we didn't take our dogs.
All in, it is a lovely site, friendly helpful wardens and i would definitely go again and take my fishing equipment next time.

I booked a club serviced pitch for 3 days to watch the Olympic Cycling Races nearby. As you might expect the site was fully booked and when we arrived, although I had booked months in advance, we were directed to a grass pitch. Although the weather had been hot and dry the previous week the area was still wet and a little muddy being on the downside of a slope and shaded by dense undergrowth and trees next to the storage compound. As we were wanting to watch the Opening Ceremony that night I enquired whether I would be able to set up my satellite system, only to be told there was no chance of receiving a signal as I was in the country! The undergrowth was so dense that it even blocked the site wifi signal and radio signals. When I requested to move to another vacant pitch away from the trees I was told they had all been booked. That, and the over zealous staff aside, this is a lovely well-located site. Facilities are OK but the activities room is underused and poorly equipped. I will not rush back but would recommend the site to anyone wishing to visit the area or London, as long as you are able to secure one of the better pitches on the lakeside or northern side of the site.

First time on a Cc & C site and a little disappointed compared with other club.
Weather was very wet and site roads and paths were muddy with big puddles in the potholes.
Toilet block tired and not heated. Charge for hair dryers which won't working anyway.
This site really needs some investment on the infrastructure especially the roads and paths.
Shame to see unnecessary damage to grass areas by some cars and vans.
Was quite untidy but that might have been due to weather stopping wardens mowing and trimming hedges.
On the positive side, Good to see a lovely new children's play area.
Lakeside pitches are lovely especially if sun shines

Excellent site : Positives include - staff very helpful (and keen to accommodate requests), site clean, smashing play area, good variety of local shops, lovely walks, NT Polesden Lacey nearby. Only one negative ... 2 of the 3 showers in the main block do not function very satisfactorily; however, this will not affect our intention to return because on balance it's a minor point. One suggestion ... consider allowing guests to break their fishing into two half days. Overall : Fantastic. Thank you.

The staff there are very friendly, they do there best to make the stay go without a hitch, the staff also make sure that the rule are kept to.
The site was very clean and tidy and the play facilities are very good even though the kids did not get to play on them we looked round them.
The site did lack shop facilities as they were only open between 9 and 10:30 and then again at 3:00 to 6:00 and there are no local shops near by.
This site again will be better suited to the older campers not younger one and is very peacefully at all time great place just to relax.

We stayed Jubilee wkend, although wet at times the facilities were in good order, despite the fact it was busy. one downside i think more use could have been made of the rec hall, considering the event,it would have been nice to have something special organised, and the hall dercorated up,music party atmosphere something anyway,i would say this is a wasted facility that other campsite would love to have and utilize to its full potential! Other wise nice site good fishing, access to other areas of interest, consider coming again, maybe!!

This our first visit to Horsley and will not be our last. Our party of 11 adults and 9 children had a marvellous time, even with wet weather. Thanks to the recreation hall our Sunday wasn't a washout. The fishing on the lake was great too. The toilet/washing up/shower area was spotless and well equipped. Staff were excellent, friendly and when pointing out club rules (we are all non-members) were polite and helpful. The childrens play area is brand new and a godsend when travelling with nine 5-6 year olds. Even with excited children we never once felt like we were being 'watched'. I have now joined after my experience this weekend, many thanks.

The toilet and shower facilities were plenty for the size of the site and always clean, however due possibly to their age the toilets sometimes wouldn't flush and the tiles on the floor of the showers were too cold to stand on, especially for the children. Plastic drainers would have been useful in the dishwasing area. The site was very peaceful and the people friendly. The children loved the new play area added this year. Hardstanding pitches a bit on the small size, made worse in bad weather when the grass becomes saturated. Some nice local pubs to eat at but you will need a car to get to them or the local Budgens, which is just under 1 mile away.
Would recommend, but don't expect children to be entertained for too long, you will need to explore beyond the site.
Staff were excellent and friendly :-)

Facilities have obviously been updated since previous reviews. Toilets were new and clean (but a bit chilly in this unseasonal weather!). There was also a brand new children's playground. The welcome was really friendly and thoughtful as we were moved to a site closer to the playground when we showed up with two little children. Probably a site most suited to caravans, although there was a pretty woodland area which would be nice to camp in if you didn't particularly want to be near the playground. Close to lots of local shops and places for sightseeing.

Horsley is a peaceful and quiet site - has a decent dog walk and seems to be a popular fishing spot. However the washing and toilet facilities, although fairly clean' are grim and very run down. Stayed at site for the first time prior to a show at Sandown Park racecourse - very easy to get to!!. Visited RHS Wisley on the way home, very close to the site and parked in the coach park. We were lucky enough to get a pitch on the lakeside, great view. Staff very friendly and helpful. A shame that some people couldn't be bothered to mop showers down after use as they left muddy footprints throughout. This is a great site easy to reach, lovely eggs sold at the house by reception and not too far to walk into the village where there ia a good selection of shops. I am a fussy person - would I stay here again, YES.

Site could be better signposted from main road,a friendly welcome was depending who was on duty, the falcilities are very out dated and could do with a make over and the washing up area is very (friendly) small. There does seem to be a definate group who always seem to pick the lakeside picthes, fishing is a bit overpriced for a day ticket as some people only want to fish for a couple of hours as said before the shop could be open more often and is not always open at times stated, spoilt at the weekends by children running wild and dogs that never stop barking and not being controlled. But apart from that a nice site.

On the positive side the site is just a mile from the local train station and accss to London is great. Also easy to get to local theme parks and other entertainments by car. Set in the country with excellent walks etc. Lots of local shops, a chippy and restaurants.
Probably the least friendly welcome we have had at any site. The facilities are sad, tired and (although cleaned regularly) look grubby. Hopefully a refurb will happen over the closed season. The play area does not exist and as such needs to be deleted from the site details. There is a recreation hut - rather dark and very unwelcoming. The roads are in poor condition and when we arrived there was a caravan in all sorts of difficulties due to the road.

Horsley is in an excellent position for three theme parks (Legoland, Thorpe Park and Chessington) and also for travelling into London City Centre from the local train station. The line terminates at London Waterloo and takes approx 45 - 60 minutes depending on which train you catch. There is ample parking at Horsley station which costs £5 for the day peak times but only £2 for the day if you arrive after 1030am. You could walk but at that time of year it would have been a dark walk back as there is not much lighting on the main road.
Part of the site is situated around a lake which caters for the fishing fraternity.
All in all an excellent base for exploring but with a caveat - the site is VERY tired! The roads need resurfacing and the main shower block is in need of serious refurbishment. Only 3 showers in each of the male\female areas and in each one which was pretty much out of action. I can't comment on the facilities in the reception block. Saying that, if you time your showers outside the peak times then you can get by.

We stayed here in our folding camper for a week in August. The train station is about 1 mile away and we went into London for 3 of the days. It takes about 40 minutes to Waterloo. It was fab exploring the capital and the rest of the time was spent relaxing and fishing in the lake. I think the fishing could be a bit cheaper but there are some good size fish. We were fortunate enough to get a lakeside pitch which was wonderful but do be prepared for the dawn chorus from the ducks! Overall we had a great holiday and will definitely be back.

1. We have been coming to Horsley for years now and still have a problem finding the site sign. The last 5 minutes of the journey are stressful as we peer into the trees at the side of the road.
2. The staff are friendly and welcoming although sometimes a bit harassed and busy.
3. Fishing on the lake is great and one of the main reason we come to Horsley apart from visiting nearby relations.
4. Now the nitty gritty, the facilities are sad, tired and (although cleaned regularly) look grubby. Hopefully a refurb will happen over the closed season. The low water pressure is annoying and so is the hit and miss of the electrics - trying to guess what we can use at the same time without tripping the fuse.
5. It is very sad that the children's play area has been reduced to virtually non-existent.
6. The dog walk is not well marked until you are right on top of it and it is not very welcoming and in order to get through to the great walks at the back of the site you have to get through it. Could some attention be paid to opening up the pathways and also making a clear path from the site road to the opening of the walk - it is embarassing having to walk past and round people's units - just a simple path would make it clear to everyone where they should walk with their dogs and what to avoid when putting up their tents.
Having said all the above will continue to come to Horsley because we like it a lot and it is so convenient for the M25 and where we live in Kent.

Horsley is a lovely site, but sadly very, very tired. The showers could do with up-dating and there were several huge pothole puddles. Also and sad to say; some dog owners allowed their dogs to foul wherever they felt the nee, a local resident we met on the dog walk commented on the amount of dogs mess left behind, so if you're a dog owner, please be more considerate and clean up after you....even in the fields. The childrens play area is a sad sight, where there used to be a slide and two swings, there's nothing now and for the amount of children visiting, this is very poor, we take our grand-daughter and on previous visits "the park" was the place to wait around for a new friend, so come on CCC get the play area up and running freshly laid eggs are on sale by a local (if you're quick), nearby Cobham and Guildford are good for shopping, It's a lovely peaceful, friendly site, the lake is full of carp and ducks, beautiful stars and owls hooting at night, it's so close to London and yet so quiet, Hopefully it will be updated in time for the Olympic games, and in saying all this, the staff worked tirelessly to keep the campers happy and in check!

We came here during May half term and had a lovely week. The pitch was in the corner and although there were lots of big groups we were never disturbed. The dog walk was good and the lake was beautiful. We didn't do any fishing but it didn't matter. The site is in an excellent place for tourist attractions such as Brooklands, Merecedes World etc and we went on a day trip to London on a direct line from the nearby village. I would suggest there was a clearer signpost as we went pass the entrance more than once! The showers were basic but clean. We had to queue for a long time over the bank holiday weekend but the rest of the time was fine. There wasn't a lot of space if 2 people went to the dishwashing facilities (no standing space other than infront of the sink if all sinks used) but this didn't spoil our holiday by any means. I would definitely recommend this site and would come back - we did get a chance to do everything we could have done!

Have been to this site many times over the past thirty years but it is no longer our favourite due to the tired facilities, large potholes in the roads and the extra pitches that are now squeezed in for tents and large groups camping together with gazebos. However the lake area remains tranquil with only a few pitches around it. Local shops are good and can recommend the chinese/fish and chip shop. Will continue to return as my husband loves to fish. With a refurb this site could return to it's former beauty.

We spent 14 nights at this site and loved it! We chose it because it was a useful base for visiting the area's many attractions (Legoland, Chessington, Thorpe Park, Windsor castle, innumerable National Trust properties). Once there we discovered many other interesting places to visit nearby (eg Brooklands, the Watts Gallery), and we found plenty to keep us occupied every day. There is some lovely countryside nearby, and the railway station in Horsley provides easy access to London had we run out of places to visit!
The site was generally peaceful (apart from some occasional overhead planes). It was tempting to spend some time relaxing by the lake on the site watching the fishermen/women, and feeding the ducks.
There is a useful array of shops in the village (bakers, butchers, newsagent, Budgens and Costcutter). There are a couple of pubs, and though we didn’t try these they were recommended by our neighbours for “pub grubâ€.
A number of caravanners store their vans on site and return frequently. So although there is a community of regulars who seem to know each other well, we did not experience a “clique†…. Like the staff they were friendly.
The staff were welcoming, helpful and informative. Facilities were spotlessly clean and generally adequate, apart from at the weekend (when the site was full ) and we did have to queue for the showers.
I agree with other reviewers that the site is not well signposted, and it is easy to miss the narrow lane which leads to it.
This is our first year as camping and caravanning club members, and if all sites are of this standard we will definitely be renewing our membership!

Had a great stay at this campsite. It is easy to walk to from Horsley train station and the area for tents is in amongst some trees, so it is very cosy. The rest of the site was pretty with a fishing pond in the middle complete with ducklings and lilly pads! The facilities were clean, the showers hot and the staff friendly. We went for a walk in the surrounding countryside and saw fox cubs playing, deer, bunnies and lots of birds and flowers. We only stayed a night, but I'd definately go back.

We have been to Horsley several times as it is well located with a nice village nearby, handy for motorway and has a mainline station to London for those planning a visit to the capital. The lake is very attractive. I would recommend it without hesitation on those grounds but having visited over the years some of the facilities are starting to look rather tired - the showers for instance seem to suffer from low pressure sometimes, with some clogged heads and are generally in need of a refurb. They are however spotlessly clean. There are no facilities for children unless they like fishing. There is a recreation hut - rather dark with nothing in it and two just swings so this is definitely not the place for young children. It is of course ideal for anyone who loves fishing, peace and quiet, probably older couples. The shop is OK but not always open when the times indicate so be aware. There is indeed a rather loud mower that staff use to show people to sites and this does get a lot of use so is buzzing around all day - they have a bicycle too for this purpose, but it doesn't seem to get much use. On balance I think the site is ideally situated in attractive setting but not ideal for kids and could do with a bit of a refurb, but I have no complaints as such and will be returning.

Lovely site, exceptionally clean especially the washing facilities and toilets, as with other reviews they may close these facilities at midday for a good while but if it means they are as good as they are then it is worth it! Some negatives, there are few things for children (only 2 swings) so bring your own games, signage to the site not good, the tent sign nearly covered by trees and no campsite entrance sign on the main road. If you have children would recommend Fishers Farm Park which is about half an hour away, loads to do and reasonably priced.

This is the second year My family have been going to this site. We have three young boys and a teenage daughter. The staff are always friendly and go out of their way to help and give advise. Their might not be a massive play park but kids with imaginations can play for hours in the woods an make friends with other campers. I have no concerns what-so-ever about my children's safety on this site.
The lake holds some big fish, and the kids are allowed to fish as long as they are supervised if under 12 years old.
We go back again and again and will continue to do so even though we live 20 miles away. We have made very good friends there and enjoy being relaxed and safe on site. I feel this site has had some unfair reviews but then i suppose it depends what your looking for. I would highly recommend this site to anyone.

The facilities of the site were cramped, especially the washing up area of 4 sinks squashed together. The loos were clean and adequate.
The recreation hall looked un-inviting, so avoided. There was very little to apart from fishing.
The lake turned out to be a large, man-made, pond scuppering a planned evening stroll.
Most disruptive part was the site tractor/lawmower which was used to show people to their plots. It was very noisy and not child friendly!!!
Not a bad site, but best for campers without children who just want to sit.

We stayed here as a fmaily during October half term. We travelled form Yorkshire and used the site as a boase to visit freinds and family in the South East. Although it was easliy accessible from the M25 the site is very peaceful and secluded. The dog walk around the site was ideal. Staff were friendly and helpful - especially when there was a power cut! The only thing that spoilt our stay was the shower facilities. There were only 3 showers in the ladies which was a bit limited for the size of site. They were also a bit tired and one of the ladies showers just dribbled down the wall unless you held the shower head up - not very practical for a successful shower! If the showers were updated then it would make a big difference.

This site is in a fantastic location for London, Legoland and Chessington. This is such a lovely site, it is a shame that the facilities do not do it justice:
The play area is disappointing given the number of young families using the site with only two swings, one of which is a baby seat.
I agree with previous reviews in that the water pressure means that filling your water can take a considerable length of time.
The ladies showers (three), one was out of order, one had very little water pressure and a broken head, therefore leaving one decent shower for the whole site!
I would not recommend for older/teenage children as when full there are no green spaces as these are filled with tents and even if you could find the space there are signs everywhere saying 'no ball games'. It is not safe to cycle around the site as the whole site is on a one way system, therefore leaving the games hall which consists of a single table tennis table.
It is such a pity that the site seems to be being used as a cash cow with no re-investment to maintain the facilities, given the popularity of the site.

Of all the sites we have been to there has always been good signing to your sites, the sign for this site is tucked away in the bushes/trees and right on top of the turning. We were disappointed with the staff at the shop on our second day, the shop was open at there opening times and they were all sitting outside having there tea,my wife asked if they could be served and they told her to come back half hour later!! Either your open or not!?! You do tend to get airplanes flying from Heathrow above either around 6/7o'clock in the morning or 10/11o'clock in the evenings we found this rather annoying. There is a recreation hall which we found very disappointing with nothing particular to do in it(may be worth investing in to help this site) The park only has 2 swings, how can you call this a park?? We will say that this is a beautiful looking site and well maintained, good for dog walking, very relaxing and a lovely lake. The village is just a mile away and has some good shops/ restaurants.

We come to Horsley more than 15 years now (that says all). We always stay here for the last couple of days of our holiday to visit friends in Wimbledon. After that we are heading home through the channel tunnel. Last September I made a short video of the site which I would like to share with you. Have a look at this:

This was a brilliant site to just sit ans relax and catch loads of fish. It was helped by the fact that the weather was amazing for this time of year. Sunshine up until 4pm! The main fact also was it is literally just off of the motorway. Coming straight from work on a friday from Kent, perfect. definately will visit again. Thank you

I turned up very warm welcome, shown to the camping area on foot, the views are excellent (overlooking the lake) I asked where i could pitch the tent they informed me that i could go anywhere on the tent site, i chose a nice open area under the trees, this was very quiet. I visit was the fishing this is excellent and i would recomend this to any keen fisher, it is ideal for beginners and the more advanced, the quality of the fish is excellent, I will definatly be returning this year and many years to come, I was suprised abouth the bait restrictions as im a maggot fisher but sweetcorn-meat-bread was the only thing you can use i cought on all of these and plenty of fish ranging from the tiddler-15lb+ it isnt often you find some where to fish and camp in such a peacefull area so close to the M25. the facilities and local shops just a short drive away where excellent, i found the cleanlyness of the toilets - shower where very clean, i am also registered disabled and would recomend this to other disabled campers. I asked for some briks for my bbq and was told to use a old stump i did and also had a fire in my bbq as well and had an enjoyable weekend. There are rail links direct in to london about 2 miles bown the road, there where also cyclist arriving while i was there so in my eyesy this is a warm welcoming site to all.

We visited the site after a prolonged wet spell. The welcome and staff were very good, even though they had trouble with waterlogged ground, meaning we had to use a hardstanding electric pitch, when we booked grass electric, with no extra charge. This meant them having a major reshuffle, but they coped well. The dog walking area was very good, if very waterlogged, but through the gate onto the plantation was superb. Another plus, which really pleased my wife, was the showers, although not updated like a lot of the C&CC sites, were adjustable for temperature. No being boiled alive. The only downer we could say is that, due to the very wet weather and the absence of any paths to the water points from the nearest driveway, we got very muddy going for refills and emptying of containers. Overall though, a very good site in a very good area. I`d recommend it.

This is a lovely site, the directions are easy but with no international camping signs along the route did have wondering if we were going in the right direction. The only one is virtually where you have to turn. The rest of site it lovely with the lake to just sit and watch or fish if you want to.
Guildford not far away the the park and ride so easy to access. (If you are a pensioner and hold a bus pass, it is free). Wisley was certainly worth a visit. Unfortunately the days we wished to visit the national turst place they were closed. Would certainly recommend the site as it was to us.

Have just returned from a long weekend at this lovely well kept site. The staff who run the office and site were really helpfull and friendly. Town of Guildford is nearby and several National Trust Properties. Wisley is almost on the doorstep.
Will certainly be back, thanks to everyone concerned.

Friendly welcome, choice of available pitches offered. Site walkways not lit at night and slightly too overgrown. Showers old and drainage channels very smelly, hooks in cubicles missing, insufficient or loose. Late arrivals being shown to pitches with the site tractor running at full revs repeatedly was very tedious!

Site far too expensive, maybe just maybe worth current fees if allocated a 'lakeside' pitch but not if you are sited in the 'back field'. When we were there it was the start of the school holidays some children playing ball and frisbee in the camping area . Toilet/ shower facilities inadequate when the site is busy and water pressure very low in back field, took ages to fill aqua roll. We have used many club sites and have always been delighted with facilities etc. this is the first time we have been dissapointed, which is a great pity as the location of this site is super with so many places to visit nearby and being so close to the M25.
