Lovely site, stayed here for three months
last year, just had another twelve days. Wardens friendly and helpful. The only down side is the shower block, although very clean and warm it does need updating and my husband says it needs more showers. The site itself is beautiful with large pitches and plenty of open spaces. You can sit outside your van and watch the wildlife.

We have used the site for a number of years and are delighted with the friendly, supportive attitude of the staff. We must mention by name Brian, Jill, Fran and Den. Nothing is too much trouble for them, whatever the problem and whatever the weather. They run a friendly site, which has, as a result, developed a superb community spirit. We have used the site as a base for visiting family and for writing walks, which we post on the Internet on the site www.walkingworld.com and there are an incredible number of delightful walks within easy reach, including from the site itself. The town centre is only one mile away, but the site is rural and has a variety of birds and other wildlife.Very highly recommended!

Two of us spent five nights in a tent with an electrical hook-up towards the end of February 2012. Fran and Den were standing in for the managers during our stay - and they did a thoroughly excellent job.
The staff were friendly and helpful at all times. We were pitched fairly close to the facilities block which provided everything we needed. The whole site was very clean and well maintained.
We would definitely recommend this site and would be happy to go back there in the future.

We have returned here for the third time but noticed that despite the facilities being kept clean, the state of the shower trays and cubicles was very poor. The shower trays are all chipped and look horrible and the cubicle I used has a crack from top to bottom on the rear wall. Not the standard we have seen so far on club sites.
The site itself is lovely, peaceful without much road noise and just a little noise from the planes into/out of Luton. A lovely walk through Balls Park.
It is a downhill walk to the town centre (about 15 minutes)and some lovely walks along the river towards Ware.
Staff were friendly, despite us interrupting their evening meal, sorry about that :-) We will certainly be back but would like to hear that the facilities will be updated some time in the near future.

We spent 3 nights at the Hertford site. The staff were helpful and very pleasant.Would reccomend to all for a weekend or longer. The signs on approach to the lane suggest you should cross the dual carriage way. This was a bit hairy. It might be better to got to the next round about and come back on the other side. We will be back at a later date.

We have visited this site many times over the past few years and we love it. The site managers are very friendly and the facilities are spotless. There are times when the site is noisy and the facilities are untidy and crowded (as has been mentioned in other reviews) but what people need to remember is that it is a large site and during the high season and school holidays the site will see a rise in families and groups and at these times the facilities will get stretched. The site managers will always respond to problems that arise but telling them the next day, after the event, is pointless as they cannot resolve problems/issues when they are over...logical, I think!! If you want a quiet, children-free holiday it would be wise to visit the site outside the high season/school holidays - which if I was retired, I would certainly do!! Roll-on retirement age!!! and keep up the good work Hertford site!!

Living in Central London this is a great site to visit if you want a countyside experience without the long journey. The site is easily accessible from the A10 and despite the closeness to Hertford and being near a school it is one of the most peaceful campsites i've been too. The staff are really friendly, (they even mowed the grass for me on my last trip), the facilities spotless (although one of the toilet blocks was closed last time and it wasn't clear if this was permanent thing) and the site clean and tidy. There are plenty of quiet spots on site if you want to relax and unless you pitch near the childrens play area you hardly notice the children playing. I've been to this site with the family and just me and the dog and haven't had a bad experience yet - all it needs is for someone to build a pub next door and it would be perfect!!

We had a lovely week in May. The pitch was in Moonackers Alley and was lovely and peaceful. The dog walk area was excellent. The facilities were great. However this wasn't the most friendly of sites and the information provided about the local area was extremely limited. we paid for a wifi card so we could do our own surfing to check information. The C&CC handbook gave more information about local attractions than was displayed at site. We did have a lovely day trip to London by train from Hertford. The directions could do with updating as the fire station highlighted at the roundabout is completely obscured by a large building and not identifiable at all until you've been round the roundabout for a week! However, these matters aside, this is a lovely site and we shall certainly return.

Hertford is a lovely site that we have visited many times. Over the last three years however we have seen a change and not necessarily for the better. The Facilities as always are very clean, The Site managers very friendly. The downside for us is the lack of respect from the larger families and groups that now seem to use the site. With the demise of the bins around the water tap areas, we are now seeing rubbish just dumped anywhere. The lake area is somewhat overgrown now, but not enough to prevent loud and noisy people throwing their beer tins and rubbish into the water. Sunday night we had more excessive noise from parents and children. On the Monday as we were packing up to leave, the ladies dutifully deposited our rubbish in the recycling point at the entrance to the site, commented to the site managers, and were told that they (the site managers) did not get down the far end very often? Come on club!! This was somewhat apparent, as we never saw the site manager's, and there were dogs running loose, and ball games a plenty, along with lots of noise. Just a tightening up of the rules, and putting back the rubbish collection points would remedy these shortcomings. It's a good site just spoilt by an inconsiderate few.

I have visited this site a number of times throughout 2009/2010 (mostly out of out of school holiday times). Big spacious site with generous pitches. Toilet and shower block generally spotless and no queues. Good for dogs on and off site. Friendly helpful staff. Near Hertford with good range of shops/supermarkets. Will definitely re-visit and recommend to others.

This is a nice site but our stay was ruined by families who played around their tents instead of the designated area. Despite being advised by staff about the rules our peace and quiet was non existant as we were continually bombarded by frisbees, footballs and children on bikes. I would beg the site to consider a child free area as there are people who will always break the rules! we ended up leaving a day earlier than we paid for and would not consider visiting or recommending this site until there are areas just for adults.

Nice site - but quite large (250 pitches) and found toilets and showers nice and clean and tidy but not really sufficient numbers of showers for size of camp. 9.00 a.m. on Sunday morning there were 6 ladies queuing to use 3 showers.
Otherwise good.
