"Get away from it all at this peaceful, no-frills campsite in the Shropshire countryside."
People have been staying at Ebury Hill for the last 3,000 years. It was developed as a hill fort in the Iron Age, but is now the perfect campsite to spend a few quiet days exploring the Shropshire countryside with its history, lovely towns and villages. Please note, because of restrictions relating to the historical significance of this campsite, it has no toilet or showers, so you will need suitable facilities in your unit.
Age Concession available all season.

Chose this site due to the other comments and found them to be mostly true, positive. We like to visit National Trust properties so found this very handy for the locations that we had chosen to visit. We will be returning again sometime in the future

stayed several times over the year. part due to rained off holiday sites. Keith and Maggie are great with regulars and new campers to the site. earlier comments say everything good about the site and welcome. Also meet up twice a year with the work party. natter and work. natter and work. makes any clean up and maintenance work enjoyable. And we are ALL senior citizens

We have loved this place and have stayed many times. Last stay got put by a retired couple in motor home. They were long time campers and stayed almost all season, he insisted my grandaughter moved well away from his unit while picking daisy's. 3 year old. His attitude ruined our stay and we refused to go again the rest of last year. I do hope the club doesn't allow it to turn into a retirement park for children intollerant campers. I will give it another go but if he is there again this year with his grumpy attitude then it willl be our last visit. What a crying shame 1 person can ruin a good thing. Staff are great so is the park. Perhap's a note on the site info should include children welcome so be warned.

Quite sad that this was our last visit to lovely Ebury this year :( Had a relaxing time as always, kids enjoyed the park, some great walks across the fields and woods. I'm sure we've said this before but we love Ebury and can't wait for it to reopen for next season. Only wish it was open all year :)

We have just returned from a 17 night stay at this site, and would have stopped longer if we had the time. The site is split into 2 parts,on the lower level in the old quarry, and above a larger site which covers a large area.We stayed on the lower level, which was very quiet ,and only holds about 20 units. It is ideal for travelling into Wales, and central for viewing numerous National Trust properties It is also ideal for visiting Ironbridge..The site is immaculate, and the staff are very helpful and friendly.I will be returning. You do get helicopters flying over from the local R.A.F. base, but they are not intrusive. If you like being in the country and relaxing this is the site to choose. We will definately be returning. The lack of a toilet block is no hardship if you are prepared to use your own facilities.
SUITABLE FOR: Older couples,Peaceful break
Just spent a week at this site and it was the most peacefull week ever. Realy back to nature, with many types of birds, quite a few squirrels, badgers (at night), sheep and some good walks for you and your dogs. Being faily new to members we didn't realise, or didn't bother to read the handbook properly, the savings to be had. The tempory site wardens saved us almost £40 on our weeks stay. Fantastic, we will definitely be staying here again, and again
Keith and Maggie booked us into the site on arrival, and Keith escorted us throughout all three levels of the site ensuring we were pitched at the most pleasing to ourselves. Our pitch beside the flooded 17century quarry was most picturesque and we watched squirrel, rabbits and birds enjoy their terrain. The nearby town of Shrewsbury is an enjoyable experience and is only a few miles away. We used the Park & Ride which is very handy and inexpensive. The nearby National Trust Property at Attingham Park is a fascinating visit. All told, we enjoyed our short stay at this site and hope to visit again.
So peaceful, very helpful friendly staff, Excellent site for Shrewsbury and Ironbridge, clean and and cared for site.
It is a shame that there are no Toilets or showers, I would recommend and use this site again...Roger
Writing this review as I look out and watch the birds squirrels and rabbits. A wonderful site. For a short to mid break, set in a peaceful yet convenient location and well worth a visit. Friendly welcome with no pressure and plenty of offers to help. We will will be coming back for sure.
This was our 3rd visit this year, we all really love it here. As adults we find it peaceful, relaxing and beautiful whereas the children just love getting back to nature playing in the woods and making friends on the park. Stunning views from some areas of the site, we walked down to see an amazing moon and heard an owl in the distance. Staff always friendly and helpful, it's an excellent site for a quiet break.
Good welcome. Lovely quiet site!!!
DATE STAYED: July 2012
We only had one night at this site as we were on our way to Wales from West Sussex. We had a great welcome from the warden who made sure we had a suitable pitch and even helped to make sure the 'van was as level as possible. A very peaceful site , I would visit again.
SUITABLE FOR: Families,Older couples,Peaceful break
We really enjoyed our stay at Ebury Hill and will be returning again.Just one thing I would like to mention as we had our dog with us we went to the Dog in the Lane pub and were most disappointed as we were told we could only sit in one corner of the bar which was next to the Gents toilets, and directly by the dart board. As our meal arrived so did the Darts team not good.So if you have a dog do not go to this pub.Ebury Hill is one of the best sites we have visited a real credit to the wardens.
We have had a very peaceful week at Ebury. We had no problem using our own facilities, the pitches were well laid out and maintained and the site welcomed our daughter and granddaughters when they dropped in for a visit. We will certainly be camping there again!
Great for visiting the Iron Bridge Gorge
Such a great site. Helpful staff, beautiful scenery and wildlife. Can recommend it to dog owners and those wanting a peaceful break away from it all.
DATE STAYED: June 2012
We had a great welcome from the wardens and were sited in a good spot, the site is clean and well looked after, we felt that an extra elsan disposal point near the middle of the site would be welcome also that bins could be placed near the water points instead of walking to the reception area , other wise a very nice site......
Just returned from Ebury, what a beautiful place, the best site we have visited so far. We had kids with us and we all enjoyed it very much. Staff were extremely helpful from the phone booking to settling us in. When we asked if we could move pitch as we spotted a lovely one with a nice view it was no problem. Great woods for the kids and dog to explore, lovely walks and just so peaceful. Kids loved watching the rabbits in the evening and playing on the park. The site is spotlessly clean, no facilities but we had our own so didn't make any difference to us infact we felt this probably helped to make it the serene, tranquil site it was as everyone was self contained. We will definatley be returning.
Had this site recommended to us by a fellow camper when we said we were going to Shrewsbury, and we can't thank him enough. Have just returned from a weeks stay at Ebury Hill and can't wait to visit again. All the previous comments very aptly cover the friendly staff, facilities (or lack of) etc. As members of English Heritage we visited numerous places of interest and still have loads more to see. Fantastic site.
We decided to stay over on the way back from holiday as the traffic was heavy and we were very tired. What a find! Excellent site, plucked randomly from the site book. Extremely well maintained, beautiful location and very friendly and helpful staff. Would definitely go again.
one of the best 'own facillities ' sites I have visited
Roads on site concrete and therefore no problem with heavy motorhome, electric good , no trip outs,
views from most pitches and those in the'quarry' overlook the lake and ciff face, stunning!
bluebells everywhere and the whole place very well run by excellent managers
nearest shops at park and ride but excellent,Tesco, Lidl etc.
Plenty of interesting 'sights' to see in the area
What more could one ask?
fees not bad either!
weve been to ebury the last 3 easters and are booked again this june 2012,as we just love this club site and its cheaper presumably because of the lack of toilet facilities. But i cant recomend this site enough its set partially in wooded area with a playing area for the kids ,a pool and cracking walks for miles. We have 5,kids and they all love it for different reasons.

Fantastic site, really friendly helpful staff. The only drawback is the lack of a toilet/shower block. But that is the only missing feature. Possibly not so great for families due to that but ideal for activish couples.

Have been coming here for 25 yrs or so and now my wife is unable to travel far is ideal for us - only 1 1/4 hrs from home
and at present is the only site we visit several times a year at the quieter times.
Seen many improvements and many friends over the years.
lovely relaxing site, nice views from the pitch we had. just wish it was open all year....
You need a car to get to anything unless you are definitely into walking.
DATE STAYED: October 2011
We have been to this site a couple of times for weekend breaks as its quite local, but as we liked it so much stayed for a week in August as a base for our holiday. Very friendly helpful staff, lovely clean site in a nice peaceful location. Definately worth a visit if you have your own facilities.
DATE STAYED: August 2011
We have just returned from a 3 night stay from Ebury Hill. The site is in a lovely peaceful and secluded area which we like, plenty of walks through the fields or woodlands which is good for the pooches! The wardens were friendly and welcoming especially after a very long drive to get there. With a motorhome we had no problems with the lack of facilities as we have our own and tend to find these sites quieter.
The only negatives we found was the fact the site has a possible 100 pitches which are not defined in any way, you just pitch up where you are put which can be a bit daunting but we were not too hemmed in.
Also there are the usual fenced off areas where you have waste water disposal and drinking water etc but no bins...the only bins are outside reception which we found dissapointing as all other sites we have visited have had bins dotted around the site. As there are no facilities to maintain it would not take up much time to pop around the site and empty the bins once a day.
If you want a quiet site it is worth a visit.
we stayed at this lovely site over bank holiday weekend, and thought it might be a bit over crowded with children but was pleasantly surpised how quiet it was, in beautifull countryside with stunning views, the warden pitch you up amongst the trees, the local pub is a long treck about 2 miles, and theres no quick way,(worth the trip tho the food is great) so really more suitable for caravans as you have a mode of transport, the bus stop is opposite the pub so no easy access to shrewsbury , if your into walking the shropshire way is right on the door step but you need an o s map the site does not have any local maps for walking.the dog walk is great, the wardens freindly & helpfull, will definately go again, but hopefully with caravan next time.
I'm just adding a short comment to say that this site does not accept tent backpackers at all. It has no toilet facilities and this prevents those running it from accepting tents under any circumstances. I found this out to my cost recently, though the staff were very helpful in recommending alternative sites.
The only real draw back is the lack of shower facilities, Found the staff more than helpful, even rang us when we became over due to car technical problems, this was reassuring. there was local Pubs near by and locals were friendly and helpful also. Kids loved it as it was a safe area for them to have adventures in.
DATE STAYED: July 2011
Our favourite site, just love it the staff are great, the wild life is great and great walks for the dogs
DATE STAYED: May 2011
What a treat.. we stayed here for only 2 nights, and we originally booked just for me and hubby, but decided at last minute to take our grandsons, when checking in at reception the staff were friendly and helpful, and offerred us a different pitch right by the play area, this was brilliant and the kids had a great time and we were able to watch them play safely. The only negative would be that the fishing lake is so full of plant life and weeds that it is almost un- fishable. The site is peaceful and very scenic and we would definately stay again.
My wife and I had a most enjoyable and relaxing 2 week stay. We found the site easy to get to and the surroung areas in Shropshire offered much to be enjoyed for all ages.
This was our first outing to a site where you required your own toilet facilities but it most certainly, wont be our last.
Our thanks to all at Ebury Hill and to th C&CC for offering such good value for money.

We recently spent ten days at this site after visiting for the first time three years ago. Friendly welcome, very peaceful and relaxing atmosphere and we enjoyed a much needed break away. Shrewsbury is not far and the park and ride means no car parking problems. The local pub serves excellent food in huge portions so my husband was very happy and the 24 hour Tesco is very useful with Lidl's next door. We had good weather too which helps. There is plenty to do in the area for more active visitors who want to explore the local sights. We visited the Acton Scott farm featured in the BBC series Victorian Farm and had a fascinating day
SUITABLE FOR: Older couples,Groups,Peaceful break
It was out of school holidays so the site was mostly retired couples and dogs. Lovely view from the top field. Facilities are limited but all modern units have toilets/showers anyway these days so not having a shower block really didn't make a difference. Glad we didn't bother to take fishing rods- too much weed to make it enjoyable. Only complaint would be units leaving site after midday - this cut down the choice of available sites for arriving members, created traffic jams in the narrow site arrivals area and stopped the wardens having time to mow the pitches.

Just returned and would stay again .Welcom was very good and the staff very frendley and aproachable. Well cared for site .Plenty of wild life and birds. Pond was weedy but dispite this had several good fishing trips . Just the place to chill out and recharge your batterys. The local pub The Dog in the Lane the food was very good.
good for peacful break
and for ironbridge gorge
We have just bought a caravan, and wanted to go somewhere not too far, Looked on the caravan and camping site, found Ebury Hill, only 20 mins away, we loved it and so did the children, the two of them loved the fishing, so did we peaceful and quiet, and the local pub Dog in the Bone was ideal to go for a meal really nice, would recomend to anyone
will be making time too go to ebury hill as many times as we can
First time caravan’ers and had loads of problems with carvan ... All site staff very helpful couldn’t have helped any more... thanks. Site is very clean great wildlife lovely walks. Met some great people who also helped this is a great site, would go again.
i have been going to ebury for 8yrs now it is a lovley site, the only disappointing thing about it is that the club advertise the site with fishing at £6 plus per day.over the years i have met people who have come to the site for fishing and have walkled away in dismay at the state of the pond. Please go to ebury for a nice quiet rest, but not for the fishing
Ebury Hill is a wonderful, very peaceful and picturesque site. Well maintained by the hard working and very pleasant wardens who are a credit to the club. Out in the countryside but only a few mins drive from Shrewsbury and local shops/supermarkets. On site you have a great dog walk in the woods, a small playground for the kids, fishing and the usual site shop. Local pub (Dog in the lane) serves pub grub too! Give it a go!
over the easter weekend we stayed at the c&cc edbury hill in shrewsbury.
what a fabulous site,it has no facilities so you need to use your own,it has water and hookup and cdu,a small park for the children and the usual c&cc reception/shop.
chocks may be needed on a few of the grass pitches and there are several dog walks of various lengths.there is a sea of bluebells everywhere you look at the moment, the site is especially well kept and the wardens are extremely helpful.
we stayed only for 3 nights and felt instantly relaxed.this site has now replaced our favourite blackmore at hanley swan.
We have stayed at Ebury Hill a few times and have always found it nice and quite even when it has been very full, the staff are very helpful and pleasant. We take the grandchildren and they really enjoy the freedon it offers, the only down side for the children is that the play park get very dirty and slippy from the trees. But it still a great break. We will be going back again this year.
A very pleasant and welcoming site, with easy direct access to the Shropshire Way for those interested in walking We only had a short break there, but could not fault it at all.
DATE STAYED: September 2010
Brilliant dog walk with plenty of interesting places for the dogs to investigate but owners are catered for too with seats to have a break and enjoy the vista.
Look out for the novelty hand-made bird boxes!
