What a little gem this site is. I've been a member of the club for a week and it for sites like this that I joined. I wanted good quality sites, close to home where you can go on a Friday night after a week at work as a get away. This ticks all the boxes. The site was clean, friendly and the facilities were excellent.
It's an ideal site for walking or cycling on the chase. I will be using this site many times.

We have just come back from a 2 night stay on this wonderful site. Considering we only live 20 minutes away, we could have been in another world. Spotlessly clean, very friendly and helpful Site wardens and excellent facilities. Perfect place just to get away from it all for a couple of days. We will definitely be going back again soon. The combination locks on the toilet block prevents 'Joe Public' stopping off to use them and spoiling them for club members. The peacocks and cockerels at the house next door are no longer there, so its very quiet. The road noise wasn't an issue for us and it wasn't that bad anyway.

We have just got home from a fantastic bank holiday break at Cannock , what a fantastic site, the best we have stayed at in a long time.
We called the site to explain we were stuck in horrific bank holiday traffic and wouldn't be arriving till well after 8pm to be told that was absolutely no problem and just keep them informed of our progress, we eventually arrived to some very smiley wardens which was a welcome relief !!
The write up on the site doesn't do it justice to the fantastic location , just through a gate a few metres from our caravan and we had miles and miles of beautiful walks, great with our 2 dogs .
Limited TV signal and NO phone signal was a bonus for us as we got our teenage daughter all to ourselves for the whole weekend !!
Facility's were clean everytime we used them .
Will definitely be returning again.

Just returned from 3 night stay. New site managers doing superb job under difficult conditions (snow, cold weather and easter holidays). Good welcome and choice of pitch. Road past site has traffic at rush hour but this did not intrude. neighbours no longer have hens, cockrel etc. Small play area for kids. The site has gate onto Cannock Chase footpath system and is a short drive from either visitor cantre. Two good pubs nearby, Park Gate Inn which in daylight is a 45 min walk away across the Chase. Chetwynd Arms a five minute drive away. Both welcoming and served good reasonably priced food. The site is quiet and rural. well maintained and very clean. Facilities were a little chilly but weather was extreme for time of year. Would definitely return.

What a wonderful site! Beautiful location especially for walkers and cyclists. What appeals to us is that there is immediate access to the Chase with miles and miles of woodland to walk in. The site itself is lovely and the toilet and shower block is spotless. Last but definitely not least are the site managers Jerry and Dave who made our stay very enjoyable and great fun despite the awful weather conditions. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they made us feel extremely welcome. Will be returning as soon as possible!

We found the wardens very helpful, the site well laid out with nice spacious pitches and everything was clean and well maintained. The shower blocks could do with additional heating though...bit chllly in November.
The only drawback would be the noise from the very busy road at the front of the site. At times it felt like we were camping at the side of the motorway, but appreciate this is something the site can do nothing about.
We used the Park Gate Inn for a meal one evening and would highly recommend it. Nice snug bar area too with a log burner...cosy.
Pity about the traffic noise as other than this the site was brilliant.

We have just brought our caravan home after being stored at Cannock since March. We used the site on many weekends during this time and always found it to be well maintained and very clean. We always had a friendly welcome from the management team and our van was well looked after. It is an excellent site for walkers and mountain bikers. We were able to enjoy Cannock Chase as it changed through the seasons.

Warm welcome and friendly, helpful and considerate staff. Site is well maintained, clean and tidy. Toilet and shower facilities are adequate but long over due a refurb. Not sure why there are combination locks on the facilities nor why the gates are locked to site from 11pm to 7am. The perfect location for access to Cannock chase. The addition of drying room for kit would be very welcome.

A lovely site, mainly geared towards Caravans and Motorhomes but does have room for several tents. The site is immaculately maintained and the site managers are extremely friendly, helpful and accommodating. Shops and pubs/restaurants not too far away and the Park Gate Inn isn't far and does lovely food (2 for £10 before 6pm). There are lots of lovely walks through Cannock Chase which is beautiful. The visitors centre and surrounding area is a lovely day out for all and the mountain biking is superb. Our only problem with the site is that it is a little bit noisy, there is a road which is busy at rush hour and a farm with dogs and peacocks which have a tendency to be a bit rowdy but after a little while they fade into the background. Theres a brilliant play area for younger children. We've given it a 4/5 for facilities because it may benefit from a drying room due to the great British weather combined with walking/mountin biking, but the other facilities are of a high standard with plenty of showers/toilets and private sinks....the Managers are moving on next year which is a shame but hopefully it will be kept to the high standard they have set.

Hard to add to the other reviews on here. Immaculately clean, exceptionally well run. We rang ahead en route after some delays to inform the site we'd be arriving after night fall and we were greeted by a friendly chap on arrival who took time to show us by torchlight and talk us through the advantages and disadvantages of each choice of pitch. Well beyond the call of duty - but a really great welcome at the start of a fabulous stay. The Chase itself is beautiful with plenty of scope for getting away from it all.

I read the reviews before booking the site expecting exaggerated comments of both the good and bad points. we were given a 5 star welcome from the staff that could not be bettered, we chose a hard standing pitch, no need for leveling blocks and lots of well manicured grass around us. Like the grass areas the facilities are kept immaculate (and we both found the showers warm) a tribute to the hard work and enthusiasm shown by the staff, as for the noise of the Peacocks and Geese that's all part of the country scene, a pity they were not roaming on site, Tv reception was poor on some channels but a Satalite dish or book would overcome this mild irritation, no phone coverage which meant no one disturbed our break. Would I stay here again, you bet, it would be hard to find better. we had a dog with us that enjoyed the walks and the attention from the other campers

just returned from a 9 night break at this site, although we did leave a day early this was not the fault of the site, weather just had been wet all week so as our folding camper was dry we decided it would be best to go before more rain. very friendly site, we never ran out of things to do although didnt find any pubs within easy walk there were several in a short drive, most had good deals on food so you could have a nice cheap meal. the only gripe was the water temp in the showers I seemed to be lucky but my husband didnt have a hot shower all week. All in all we did enjoy our week and will go back in the future.

Just got back from cannock and had to write a review of site what a gem.
Site is fantastic for a peacefull break but also great if you love to walk or cycle set on the edge of a wood with access to all of cannock chase you can't go wrong.
Site is clean and staff very helpful only a small site and if you are in a caravan would suggest you book hard standing as grass area very uneven and be warned t v and phone reception not good but apart from that its great.
Also alot of the reviews complained about the animals and birds next door and the noise they make this was not as bad as some make it out to be and you are in the woods so you might hear a few more birds on your stay.
Full make to the staff for making this a cracking little site and we will be back soon.

Wow! what a welcome. Thank you Cannock Chase for a fantastic 9 night stay. When we arrived the wardens said welcome to the friendly club, we are a very friendly site here. He wasn't wrong. The wardens are amazing they really do go the extra mile, even checking we were happy with everthing most days. The site is lovely, very clean (again thanks to the staff) you can do as much walking or shopping as you wish, good walks or biking in the forest from the site. Shopping you need to drive to, but not far. Thank you soooo much for a great time, well done Cannock Chase Staff.

Took a few days off over Easter go away camping, chose Cannock Chase as it was relatively easy to get to as a backpacker.
The site team were fantastic, always helpful and full of spirit.
Plenty of walks around the area, sadly the pubs are a bit of a walk away if you just want a nice quiet drink and to relax.
With a tent and lots of rain it would have been nice to have had something of a dry room or lounge to sit in. but overall a really good experience.

Stayed 9 nights during the wettest April on record. On the plus side, the local opportunities for walking, biking or wildlife spotting make this a superb location for a weekend or longer. Strongly recommend a circular walk from the site to take in the Castle Ring hillfort and the adjoining Park Gate Inn.
On the minus side, believe all the reviews you read about the peacocks next door and the lack of action to address the tepid water in the ladies showers. Only these issues stop this being a 5 star site.

We have just spent four nights here over the Easter weekend and loved it, the pitches are a decent size and pretty level, plus all facilities are kept really clean. I did have to turn the temp up full in one of the male showers and my wife said that one of the womens showers was also cooler than the other two, but this was only a minor thing. Tv reception was fine, but phone signal was almost nonexistant and this was one of the few sites I was unable to get a signal for mobile broadband. They do have wifi on site but signal strength was low on our pitch so I didn't bother to buy a voucher, I can just about live without the internet for four nights. In the early hours of Monday morning the power went off for the whole site but this was not the fault of the site and it was restored within a few hours. All in all a great site, staff friendly and helpful and it's location is good, very easy access from the M6. Would be happy to return here again during the summer when we could enjoy the forest at its best.

A very pleasant site. The wardens were friendly and helpful. The toilet block was spotless. I found the buttons on the door keypad difficult to see in the dark, so would recommend taking a torch with you. The ladies showers never got very warm, adequate, but you wouldn't want to hang around. If you are a light sleeper, keep away from the pitches next to the adjacent house as the Cockerels start to crow at first light.
A very handy site for visiting the Stafford Show Ground, and easy access to the M6 and Birmingham. Ideal site for walking and cycling.

My partner and I stayed at this campsite for 2 nights ahead of the Caravan and Camping show in Birmingham.
We arrived at 7pm and we were made to feel very welcome by the member of staff on duty. We were able to pick our pitch and luckily it was away from the cockerels ( which we heard the following morning) however we were not told of the cockerels on picking a pitch. More recycling facilities would be better as we did try to do out bit. Showers/toilets very clean and well looked after. All the staff were very nice and helpful, would stay here again!!

We had a two night stay here with 2 young children and we all enjoyed our stay.
The children enjoyed exploring the woods and playing on their bikes. The surrounding area is peaceful and secluded.
The shower/toilet blocks were clean and fairly warm for October. The site was well maintained and tidy.
The cockerel next door is a little annoying but we all managed to sleep though it. Earplugs might be needed if you are a light sleeper.....but the fresh egg are worth it. :-)

Just returned from a quick 2 night stay. Lovely site with friendly owners. I arrived on a Thursday morning and had a big choice of pitches as there weren't many campers. By Saturday morning the site was looking much busier as people were taking advantage of the good weather (best we'd had during the summer).
The site is well maintained and laid out. Your asked to choose your own pitch and the owner will pop over later to see which one your on. Mostly flat level hardstandings The facilities are clean and well maintained albeit a little dated. The site does not have a playground for youngsters but with 10000 acres of forest surrounding you who needs one.
Cannock Visitor Centre and Birches Forest Centre are close by both having adventure playgrounds and plenty of cycle/walking routes.
Alongside the site there are chickens and peacocks who have a tendency to wake up rather early (take ear plugs if you sleep lightly). On the plus side you can get free range eggs every morning via the honesty box (£1 for 1/2 dozen).
Overall a good sight and location for outdoor pursuits. Would I go back, definetly.

Just returned from 8 days on this lovely site with our 2 young children. Very friendly welcome on arrival and choice of pitches for our tent. Facilities always spotlessly clean. Location is great for exploring the woodland walks and a range of NT properties a bit further afield. Lots to do in area. The site doesn't have a play area but our 6 yr old and 1 yr old didn't miss that, and there are excellent parks in nearby rugely and on the chase. First week of school holidays and although weekends seemed to be fully booked, during the week the site was not even half full. Very peaceful (apart from the birds next door which after a few nights you don't even notice) and very friendly. The only down side for tent campers is that recent improvements have been made to increase number of hard standings and reduce grass no hook-up pitches. This was our 5th visit to this site and we will definately be back.

The site access was difficult because the site map was badly incorrect as it failed to mention a new road that by-passed the town centre( still called the A51 ). This resulted in a lot of frustration after a long drive. Please correct a.s.a.p.

This is a lovely, pleasant, little site. Absolutely spotless at all times. The wardens work very hard and are very friendly and welcoming. Their shop is adequately stocked and reasonably priced and they are very knowledgeable on the area. The showers are great, you can adjust the heat and don't have to keep pressing a button to keep the water running. We had a grass pitch which was slightly sloping so they gave us some blocks. We were right next to the "dog walk" which was actually Cannock Chase! Brilliant for long walks and bike rides. If you read comments about the peacocks and chickens that live next door, well yes, you can definitely here them and they can be quite loud but to be honest they didn't spoil it for us. You are also on a busy road and you can hear road traffic but again it wasn't a problem for us at all. Will definitely return again and again.

This is a small but well looked after site in the middle of Cannock Chase. Depending on which direction you approach the site there is a long steep hill to the site to contend with.
The site itself has basic facilities but the toilet/shower block is spotless. The shop is small & has some basic items. There is no dog walk on site but you are right next to the Chase and there are some great walks to go on.
Rugeley is your nearest town with a decent supermarker - about 10 mins away. The road outside the side is a busy country road but quietens down at night. One other 'feature' to note is the house next to the site which keeps lots of birds which make alot of noise at dawn !!
Overall a good site to have a long weekend but wouldn't spend a whole week there. Mobile phone & TV reception is weak. 3G signal was also dodgy at the time of staying there.

Visited this site as it was close to home and, therfore, convenient for trying out the new tent.
Site small and compact and facilities very clean but very few standard pitches for campers. Site seems more geared up for the caravanners. Although this site is located on the edge of Cannock Chase it is sited next to a very busy "country" lane and so the sound of fast moving traffic can be heard at all times - day and night! Not, necessarily the peaceful getaway people may be expecting... but there are nice walks on the chase.
