A very pleasant site. The wardens were friendly and helpful. The toilet block was spotless. I found the buttons on the door keypad difficult to see in the dark, so would recommend taking a torch with you. The ladies showers never got very warm, adequate, but you wouldn't want to hang around. If you are a light sleeper, keep away from the pitches next to the adjacent house as the Cockerels start to crow at first light.
A very handy site for visiting the Stafford Show Ground, and easy access to the M6 and Birmingham. Ideal site for walking and cycling.

My partner and I stayed at this campsite for 2 nights ahead of the Caravan and Camping show in Birmingham.
We arrived at 7pm and we were made to feel very welcome by the member of staff on duty. We were able to pick our pitch and luckily it was away from the cockerels ( which we heard the following morning) however we were not told of the cockerels on picking a pitch. More recycling facilities would be better as we did try to do out bit. Showers/toilets very clean and well looked after. All the staff were very nice and helpful, would stay here again!!

We had a two night stay here with 2 young children and we all enjoyed our stay.
The children enjoyed exploring the woods and playing on their bikes. The surrounding area is peaceful and secluded.
The shower/toilet blocks were clean and fairly warm for October. The site was well maintained and tidy.
The cockerel next door is a little annoying but we all managed to sleep though it. Earplugs might be needed if you are a light sleeper.....but the fresh egg are worth it. :-)
We will definitely return to this lovely site.

Just returned from a quick 2 night stay. Lovely site with friendly owners. I arrived on a Thursday morning and had a big choice of pitches as there weren't many campers. By Saturday morning the site was looking much busier as people were taking advantage of the good weather (best we'd had during the summer).
The site is well maintained and laid out. Your asked to choose your own pitch and the owner will pop over later to see which one your on. Mostly flat level hardstandings The facilities are clean and well maintained albeit a little dated. The site does not have a playground for youngsters but with 10000 acres of forest surrounding you who needs one.
Cannock Visitor Centre and Birches Forest Centre are close by both having adventure playgrounds and plenty of cycle/walking routes.
Alongside the site there are chickens and peacocks who have a tendency to wake up rather early (take ear plugs if you sleep lightly). On the plus side you can get free range eggs every morning via the honesty box (£1 for 1/2 dozen).
Overall a good sight and location for outdoor pursuits. Would I go back, definetly.

Just returned from 8 days on this lovely site with our 2 young children. Very friendly welcome on arrival and choice of pitches for our tent. Facilities always spotlessly clean. Location is great for exploring the woodland walks and a range of NT properties a bit further afield. Lots to do in area. The site doesn't have a play area but our 6 yr old and 1 yr old didn't miss that, and there are excellent parks in nearby rugely and on the chase. First week of school holidays and although weekends seemed to be fully booked, during the week the site was not even half full. Very peaceful (apart from the birds next door which after a few nights you don't even notice) and very friendly. The only down side for tent campers is that recent improvements have been made to increase number of hard standings and reduce grass no hook-up pitches. This was our 5th visit to this site and we will definately be back.

The site access was difficult because the site map was badly incorrect as it failed to mention a new road that by-passed the town centre( still called the A51 ). This resulted in a lot of frustration after a long drive. Please correct a.s.a.p.
Otherwise the site was fine : peaceful & right next to the forest with helpful staff.

The site managers were very welcoming and vey helpful and honest especially about the Peacocks and cockerels next door. They did wake us up but there is nothing that can be done and we were in the country. The road did not bother us at all.

What a fantastic welcome. If only all sites were like this!
We were given the choice of our originally booked pitch or several others and also had the option of a hook-up since somebody had cancelled. Great.
The toilet/washroom facilities are starting to show signs of age, but are kept spotlessly clean.
Very impressed and will be going back.
The on-site shop didn't have any firelighters, but then I should have remembered to pack them in the first place!

Stayed here for a Mountainbiking weekend with our families. The facilities were excellent and clean with ample provisions. I was dissapointed that re-cycling is not supported at this site. Also our group as "Non-members" with "budget" equipment were not made to feel entierly welcome. Recommended to those who want a quiet, clean site to show off their brand new van. Not recommended to groups, families, "Non-members".

This was our very first experience of Camping having only taken charge of our Folding Camper a few days before. We only live a couple of miles away but so this was more about learning about our equipment before we venture off on longer trips.
The Staff were very welcoming and incredibly helpful. The site is in a beautiful area of Cannock Chase which as thousands of acres of woodland. ideal for hikers and Mountain bike fanataics.
The Site facilities are very good and pristine. I can see why this site is so popular and I would definately recommend advanced booking. If all sites are as nice as this, then I know we made the right choice to become Campers.

This is a lovely, pleasant, little site. Absolutely spotless at all times. The wardens work very hard and are very friendly and welcoming. Their shop is adequately stocked and reasonably priced and they are very knowledgeable on the area. The showers are great, you can adjust the heat and don't have to keep pressing a button to keep the water running. We had a grass pitch which was slightly sloping so they gave us some blocks. We were right next to the "dog walk" which was actually Cannock Chase! Brilliant for long walks and bike rides. If you read comments about the peacocks and chickens that live next door, well yes, you can definitely here them and they can be quite loud but to be honest they didn't spoil it for us. You are also on a busy road and you can hear road traffic but again it wasn't a problem for us at all. Will definitely return again and again.

arrived early to the site as we had to travel all of 8.9 miles from our storage site. Site manager very helpful and allowed us to choose our pitch.
Great for walks in the forest, our 4 year old missed the use of a play area but kept her dad busy playing games.
Peacocks and cockerels in the house next to the site can be noisy at times but you soon get used to them.
Will definately be visiting again.

Great site, we where sited at the back of the site, so the peacocks, geese and cockerels did not bother us (but we are used to staying at friends farm site in Wales and peacocks, cockerels came right under our unit so having them on a house next to the site is not a problem! the joys of the country!)lovely walks straight from the site. Wardens very helpful, facilities good.

Lovely site, friendly staff who do there best to keep the site spotless. This is not always possible when people don't clean up after themselves.
Great dog walks and so much to explore in the local area.
Site can be noisy, as it is next to a very busy road, and the ever expanding collection of birds in the house next door. If you appreciate wildlife you'll love this site, if you don't want to listen to cockerels, geese, ducks and peacocks (3 we counted) then give it a miss.

An excellent site, very clean and well run. Peaceful and tranquil. Lots of room with large pitches and sheltered from the wind by tall conifers. Absolutely perfect for bikes, walking and outdoor adventures as it is part of Cannock Chase.
Serious MTB riders please note that "The Monkey" trail runs right next to the site.

Lovely site in a lovely area. Visit spoiled only by the menagerie that lives next door - cockerel and peacocks at all times of the day and evening. Also surprised by caravan owners who leave dogs in their caravan to bark all day.

This is a small but well looked after site in the middle of Cannock Chase. Depending on which direction you approach the site there is a long steep hill to the site to contend with.
The site itself has basic facilities but the toilet/shower block is spotless. The shop is small & has some basic items. There is no dog walk on site but you are right next to the Chase and there are some great walks to go on.
Rugeley is your nearest town with a decent supermarker - about 10 mins away. The road outside the side is a busy country road but quietens down at night. One other 'feature' to note is the house next to the site which keeps lots of birds which make alot of noise at dawn !!
Overall a good site to have a long weekend but wouldn't spend a whole week there. Mobile phone & TV reception is weak. 3G signal was also dodgy at the time of staying there.

Excellent site. Could not have been any cleaner or tidier. Access off main-ish road but because of all mature woodland feels very secluded once you're in.
Direct access onto lovely walks. VERY peaceful.

Visited this site as it was close to home and, therfore, convenient for trying out the new tent.
Site small and compact and facilities very clean but very few standard pitches for campers. Site seems more geared up for the caravanners. Although this site is located on the edge of Cannock Chase it is sited next to a very busy "country" lane and so the sound of fast moving traffic can be heard at all times - day and night! Not, necessarily the peaceful getaway people may be expecting... but there are nice walks on the chase.
