After booking we were slightly apprehensive having read some of the reviews but our doubts were unfounded. We were welcomed warmly despite being a tad early and our pitch was flat and firm. The toilets were really clean and we had visitors on two days who also said how clean the facilities were. Only our second visit to a Club site but definitely not our last and we will be back at Cambridge in the future, of that we are sure.

The wardens here work very hard to make the site colourful with flower displays, and clean, and very welcoming.
On a bus route into Cambridge which isn't very direct, takes about 45 mins. Great city to visit.
Warmly recommended site.

I need to start by saying if it were not for the hard work of the site staff this site would not be a very good site at all.
The staff and the location is the reason we have returned. As per the other comments -the toilet facilities are old and need refurbishing(also very cold for my 5 year old as they are not heated).
Last night on walking to the toilet block through all the mud(see rest of comment) it was really difficult to see where to walk and where not, as the lighting on site is very poor.
However, the most important thing currently is the lack of roads on the site. The site staff had put a lot of work into stone entry points to the mainly grassed site. Unfortunately, over the time of our stay the following things have been issues:- we nearly did not get onto the grassed area as out car was slipping on the very muddy temporary entry point to the grass, this was closed the following day and the stone area reopen but the second vehicle to use this a motorhome got stuck and ended up calling a tow truck to get them out at the own expense ! As I write from site now the staff have cancelled a large number of units that were due to come on this week end as the site is so poor. ALL IT WOULD TAKE IS A LITTLE INVESTMENT IN ACCESS ROADS TO GRASSED AREAS AND BETTER LIGHTING TO MAJORLY IMPROVE ACCESS.
I complained to customer services, this morning, but were only offered lip service to our concerns. They did not even want to know who I was and my membership number...really poor !
We feel really strongly that what could be a very lovely site with flower beds and great staff has been let down by poor investment by OUR club.
We have also taken photo of the mentioned issues.
In its current state would not recommend this site.
I HOPE WE DONT NEED A TOW TRUCK TOMORROW WHEN WE HOPE TO LEAVE THE SITE !

As new caravanners, this was our first visit to a club site and we really didn't know what to expect for our weekend break.
I have to say that we were very impressed with the site and can't find anything significant to pick fault with. The staff were excellent and worked very hard to keep the grounds clean and well maintained. The displays of flowers were still colourful and well manicured despite being later in the year.
We'll certainly be coming back for a longer stay.

Good location, only 10 mins from centre. Quite built up area, building site behind, not very appealing. Toilet block is tired and could do with renewing, but is very functional. Wardens are friendly enough, however, a bit to quick to uphold site policies! Observed them telling kids off for playing with a ball (site less than 1/2 full and kids were well away from all units!)

Just stayed at Cambridge Club Site for a long weekend . |The staff were friendly and helpful . The site is next to a development of Penthouses but to be fair it s not something that should stop you going as i did not hear any noise.
The toilets are old but they are clean .
We biked to Cambridge on our bikes via the cycle track about a mile from the site, not to well signposted so we had to ask a postman. Once you ve found it its a lovely 2 mile (approx) ride on tarmac to Cambridge.
Duxford is as must , Airspace and The American hanger are fantastic.
Could have done with a few more days so will go back at some point.
Overall very enjoyable

We are regular visitors to this site and have found the staff very welcoming. The site is always well maintained. The Flower beds and features are good enough to win awards, these are funded by the weekly Bonus Ball draw that the staff hold and we have on occasion won- thank you.
Shower/ Toilet Blocks need refurbishing (hence the 4 score) but are always kept spotless.
The site is well situated for visiting Cambridge City. Also worth a visit are Anglesy Abbey, Wimpole and Milton Park if you fancy a spot of fishing.

We had booked for 6 nights but left after 3. We found showers are as in other reviews, open to the roof and cold. We also had trouble with the shower curtains. The weather was extremly wet so the access was appalling, ground cut up with deep ruts, and only two access points.
The first pitch we were given flooded and the second was not much better. The building site alongside started up at 7.30am.

Our second visit and when we left it was raining...again! We can't fault the site for the weather though.
The welcome was friendly, much improved on our previous experience, and the facilities were spotlessly clean, as were the camping grounds. Despite it being a late June weekend, the site was not overfill and had a spacious air to it, was quiet and peaceful, just the thing after a hard days driving and/or sightseeing.
It's a good base for the city.

Lost count as to how many years we have stayed at this site. Started before the current shower block was built. For us the site is ideally placed with the frequent bus service only a short walk away. Plenty to see in Cambridge.Other attractions are the IWM at Duxford, Anglesey Abbey. Audley End House.Always get a friendly greeting from the managers.I agree with other comments that the toilet block is cold. Although it is kept spotlessly clean and the showers are warm it is starting to look tired and needs refurbishment. It is a pity that the land between the new link road to Addenbrookes Hospital and the site is being infilled with, what appears to be, factory units. Hope this does not create a noise problem in the future.Maybe some more tree planting along that edge might help.Don't like too many hard standings being put on sites. The sites of another club frequently look like car parks now.

Just on the outskirts of Cambridge (about 10 mins by car and approximately 30 minutes cycling), this is a fantastic site if you plan to visit Cambridge and the surrounding area. The staff were really happy and friendly, they have a well stocked selection of supplies for the essentials. Well maintained Grass mainly with a few hard standings near the entrance. The last 50 metres or so approaching the site is a little narrow. Would be tight to get two caravans past each other, but apart from that, access is very good from a main road. The shower block is very clean and well maintained. Plenty of handbasin and toilet cubicles. Bit low on showers (In the lady's block I think there were only three or four. OK when the site isn't to busy but I would think you would have to wait if the place was full (It's a big site). But lovely hot showers so worth the wait and plenty of room in each private cubicle. Lots of grey waste and water filling points. Only 1 chemical disposal point as far as I could see and no Motor home servicing area as far as I could tell. So, if you are thinking of visiting Cambridge, this is the perfect site to stop. One final point. The electricity hook up is 10A. I ran a computer, screen, my fridge and a heater which was fine but I think anything more might have been pushing it. All in all, a great campsite.

Ideal campsite for exploring the city of Cambridge, bus stop just down the rd and frequent buses.Unfortunately we arrived in the midst of a "monsoon" so the grass was very wet and causing some problems trying to drive on or off the pitches! However Bob and his team were very helpfull! Lots of building work going on around the site but did'nt seem too noisy, good clean facilities.

I would agree with most of the reviews that the site is kept very well and extremely clean. My complaints are not about the personnel who were very amiable but with the shower block. There was no heating whatsoever in the showers/toilet area and having to face a bleak, cold shower/toilet area primarily in the mornings was not something to look forward to.Unfortunately while were there the weather was very cold which didn't help the situation but the shower facilities certainly need updating. The showers themselves are only at chest height. Also it was quite quiet during our stay with only a few campers but with only three showers in the female block I am sure it would be extremely difficult during peak periods.

First time at this site, very nice if a bit windy at times. Not many hard standings, which is okay as long as it doesn't rain a lot. The wardens seemed pleasant and helpful. The shower block lets the site down, it is kept very clean and tidy but there does not seem to be any heating and its very draughty, when you are in the shower and someone opens the main door the shower curtain try's to wrap itself round you.

A very nice clean site. Staff were extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Toilets and showers were nice and clean. Park & Ride into Cambridge is 3 mins away in a car and the centre of Cambridge is a great place to visit. If you like total quiet then this site is not for you, there is a bit of traffic noise form the road and train line but if you want a site that is clean, flat and close to local attractions then this is the place to go!

Can only repeat all the good points previously mentioned by other visitors -downside and so new its not on Google maps -new arterial road being built next to the site - traffic noise most noticeable just as you are trying to get to sleep and emergency sirens as this is the new route to the hospital. Site your vehicle over by the shower block for a quieter time.

This is a very good site for visiting cambridge, duxford air museum (40 mins service bus and national trust places. The pitches are level and spaced out. The shower block very clean, even a free use of hairdryer with a MIRROR ladies! how good is that. The closest supermarket is a half mile drive, very big waitrose sells cooked food to take back to tent. The park and ride was good once you worked it out it is 10 mins to walk to(didnt drop off at stops or pick up during rush hours. Then dropped off at end of road after 6.30pm 10 mins journey from town)so you didnt go all the way back to park/ride base. The service bus stops outside site but takes over 30mins to/from town and goes everywhere. Only downside for us was no pub within walking distance so we could have a beer or 2 but great pubs to eat closeby loads to choose from. we will definitely go again , thankyou staff well organised site well done.

I had a wonderful stay at this site. I must congratulate the staff at Great Shelford site Cambridge. They are very friendly and service orientated, always on hand with lots of local knowledge and helpful advice. Nothing seems like too much trouble and you are not afraid to ask those silly questions! The shop is well stocked with all the must haves. The site itself is extremely well kept and is hidden down the end of a private road. You are greeted with smiles and very ambitious displays of pretty flowers which was nice. Facilities are good but the site would welcome a second toilet facility if possible. It is a perfect place to stay and venture out to beautiful Cambridge is a must. Great for cycles as it is very flat. Would recommend a visit and will be back again some time.

The site is well placed a relatively short walk from Cambridge centre (the walk takes no longer than the local bus) and the facilities are clean if a little dated. The site is very flat and easy to peg in to.
The site has many overseas visitors and so it was concerning to learn that none of the staff speak any other language...speaking loudly does not count! And a rather disparaging remark to us about Italians not wanting to pay and being reluctant to leave proved ironic when, on our departure day, the heavens opened at 6:00am and it was pouring still at 12:00 noon...we were told in no uncertain terms to pack up or pay up, despite the site being virtually empty by then and our awning being ready to pack away as soon as the torrent relented. We left and will hesitate before returning. A shame.

A lovely friendly welcome greeted us. A feeling of being in the country but close to Cambridge and villages nearby. There is some road noise and train noise but not enough to deter us from staying again. Well maintained site with beautiful flower displays in all areas. Shower/toilet block is not the most modern but was always clean. Small shop on site from which we bought bacon and eggs, ice creams etc. Easy access to Cambridge for all the sites by bus just outside site entrance. Nice meal at The Rose pub left out of site on road to Saffron Walden. Our children( age 7 & 10) met several friends and the children's area kept them entertained.

Found site friendly, more so on our last visit when we had became members. very clean and tidy site, well maintained. Playground is excellent for the kids. The bus stop to take you to town is close by. My biggest bug bear with the site is that the toliets, showers and washing up sinks are closed between 10.30 and 12.00 every day. This is a popular time for its use, especially when trying to pack up and leave site at midday. This leaves one disabled toliet and shower avalible which is obviously busy and not very clean after so much use. I would still recommend the site.

The friendliness of the welcome we recieved at this site was exceptional. The staff are incredibly welcoming and helpful and were very happy to answer any questions about the campsite and the city (we had a lot!). My twin girls loved the play area and could run round freely - but best of all they loved watching the bunny rabbits playing on the grass outside our van. Ref facilities: We had to take our recycling to the nearby waitrose as there are no recycling facilities on the site. But the shower and toilet block was very clean. All in all, it was a fantastic stay and we look forward to staying again soon. Our only regret was that we were a couple of weeks too early to benefit from the new cycle path linking the site to Cambridge town centre.

Very clean flat site, nice floral displays and nice to see staff names hanging up on their units makes it that little bit more personal.Facilities are a bit old but always clean. We were given a very nice pitch with no disturbance to our view. Used the Park and Ride into Cambridge, slightly traumatic. Guy in the Bus Station there doesn't give change, machines will only take the exact fare for ticket, any other machine you put too much in you still get your ticket but no change these just spit all your money out and no ticket. So then you have to pay on the bus for a slightly more expensive fare!Probably minor gripe but never use buses at home. Intended to use bikes but nervous on roads and found maps we bought confussing to get to Green Routes so ended up not bit of a dissappointment. Site very peaceful for being so Urban.
