"Located on the River Ure, this campsite is a great spot for fishing & walking."
Just off the A1(M) motorway in a meander of the River Ure, Boroughbridge Club Site is perfect for those driving up or down the country. It is also lovely for longer stays - ideal for fishing, sailing, exploring local attractions or simply relaxing next to the river. Self-catering accommodation is available at this site.

We all wished we were there for at least two weeks, instead of our few days. This has made us determined to return to this Site.

Lovely site with helpful staff and good dog walking field.I am new to towing and found getting on and off site nice and easy. There is no direct access to the river from the site which was a bit disappointing. To do the circular walks you have to go to Boroughbridge (20 mins walk away). Roecliffe Ramble is a bit nearer but difficult with dogs as it involves crossing farmland with sheep etc.

What a gem of a site this is. Spotless everywhere. Site manager directed us to our pitch, informed us of where everything was and asked if we needed
any assistance in setting up. Reception was stocked with basic items at very competitive prices may I add. Lovely for walks in the surrounding area yet only 10 min walk into Boroughbridge town, which is a worthwhile visit. Did a 5 mile walk through fields, woods and by the River Ure and never met another soul. All the services were 5 star and even the showers were free. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and we cannot wait to get back. When i asked my wife what star rating she thought for the site she said at least 6 out of 5 it was that good.

The site is adjacent to the River Ure and the pitches are immaculate.
The wardens and their assistants are extremely friendly and the Facilities Block were immaculate and were a pleasure to use. We will return again and again. The number of attractions are to numerous to mention but members should stay at this site when visiting yorkshire.
SUITABLE FOR: Families,Older couples,Peaceful break
Friendly staff, modern and clean washrooms and nicely laid out site. Only downside is the location being close to an industrial estate with machinery noise 24/7 and the A1 which is also noisy.
SUITABLE FOR: Older couples
Great site for a stop-over if you're North/South bound on the A1.
Traffic could be heard but not intrusive.
Entrance to the site is not too bad if coming off the A1 but exit from the site very uncomfortable as you come out of the main site to the reception area on a left turn and then turn left again on to the road. Bushes on your right make it nearly impossible to see what is coming on this fast stretch of road. The hedging really needs cutting back/down. My only other comment was that the site could do with another set of waste bins at the other end of the site from the reception area. On the good side, the fish and chip van on Saturday evening is worth a visit and the tranquility of the river and the occasional Canal boat putting up the river is delightful.

Good little site. We had a very warm welcome. Large dog field and many walks nearby. When visiting this site you must go into Ripon and watch the Wakeman blowing the horn in the town square( at 9pm every night ) he is full of information and very funny. Well done to the club for getting the site usable so soon after the flooding. We will be returning as there is still so much to see. There is some noise from the motorway but it really did not bother us as it was so low.
SUITABLE FOR: Families,Older couples,Groups,Younger couples
This was our first holiday with with our touring caravan, The site easy to get to from the A1, The staff were very friendly and helpful, we were near the children's play area and we weren't disturbed by the noise - including our own son ! The site is spotless and has all amenities needed. This is an excellent base for travelling allover Yorkshire and the local villages are lovely, a van comes with the morning paper and a chip van 3 times a week, we will be going again to this site.
SUITABLE FOR: Families,Older couples,Active break,Peaceful break
The staff were very helpfull especially as we had a mix up with booking dates and were given a very convenient pitch. Chippy van came on site. Very convenient to Newby Hall and gardens which is well worth a visit short walk into Boroughbridge centre.
SUITABLE FOR: Peaceful break
Our first visit to this site. We stayed for four nights, arriving on 27 February. Prior to our arrival we received a call from the club to say the site was still officially closed due to flood damage, and although it was due to reopen on 1st March work was still ongoing and that there may be limited facilities. We were given the choice to book elsewhere, cancel and receive a refund or accept the limited facilities. We chose to take a chance and accept the site as it was. We are so glad we did. The new site managers Ken and Denise who some may know from The Oval and Windsor Park at Keswick gave us a warm friendly welcome and could not have done any more to make our stay a pleasant and comfortable one. When you consider the flood water was four feet deep in reception you wonder how they manage to keep smiling. You also get an idea of the clean up that has been carried out. The facilities were almost finished, just some tacky gloss paint around the doors so we were given a key to the disabled room which was fully functional and spotless. The rest of the facilities were open by the planned 1st of March. The site is close to (a walk of just over a mile or two minutes in the car) local shops, takeaways and pubs. There is also a Morrison supermarket close by. This site makes an ideal base for exploring North Yorkshire and the Yorkshire Dales, and is an easy drive to the city of York and the historic towns of Harrogate, Knaresborough and Ripon. We will be returning to this site in the future.

WE have stayed at this site many times over the past few years mainly with a folding camper, we purchased a caravan in 2012 so we could accommadate our g/children my husband had never towed one before, living close to boroughbridge it was good practise for him, until he had to reverse omto the plot at the site we neednt have worried Ian the site warden gave my husband instructions on how to do it he was amazing Ian that is.Our daughter and son-in law loved this site and often came with us in their caravan.
The only problem was the weather rain and more rain and unfortunately the river was too close the weather was the only thing that spoiled our holidays here, Ian and Maggi where fantastic wardens gonna miss them they could never do enough for you the site facilities where always spotless considering the weather we had last year. A good dog walk for my border collies , a nice walk too into Boroughbridge, great places to visit Harrogate Rpon mother shiptons cave in Knaresbrough.Really a lot to do whatever the weather.
Ian and Maggi sorry to see u have left gonna miss u we certainl know what a tough year u had with the weather but u did a fantastic job why did u think we kept coming back we tried to make the sunshie for you but it never happened we felt we where a jinx at times lol. seriously though this is a great site hopefully it reopens and the next wardens are as great as Ian /Maggi where.

Ian and Maggi would like to thank all the campers for their help and support over the past two and a half years. we have truly enjoyed managing Boroughbridge. we have met some fantastic campers and some are now really close friends. the locals here are so friendly and will be truly missed. we look forward to seeing you all and new campers at our new position at Sandringham club site. Happy New Year to you all xx
SUITABLE FOR: Families,Older couples,Groups
Excellent welcome, arriving at 17:30 on a friday at the end a full days rain to be told an electric supply had been fed to the best draining area to pitch a tent. The pitch was excellent underfoot despite standing water elsewhere on the site. We were also fortunate enough to benefit from winning a free draw for Fish & Chipsx2 from the van which visited Sat eve (one of it's 3 weekly visits). The facilities were clean and tidy as you would expect. Only 5 mins from the A1 but feels very rural also benefitting from a jetty onto the adjacent river something for our next visit. As a 1st year camping family we had a fantastic weekend.

staff extremely friendly and helpfull

Excellent site in a great location. More than just a stopping off point for North & South. Moors, Dales and Coast within easy reach by car. Fishing is available on the river Ure which borders the site.Facilities are modern and clean.
Site management team go that extra mile. Thank you.
We've just left this site after the last part of our honeymoon, the largest site we've been on so far and we enjoyed it, the staff were very welcoming the facilities were lovely, 2 shower blocks which were cleaned at different times so 1 always available......the only niggle was only 1 washer and drier for this big site so had to wait ages the one day to do our washing.....improving this would be ideal.....otherwise couldn't fault it, thanks very much
Stayed here for the 3rd part of our honeymoon and absolutely loved it, what a pretty campsite this is, right by the river too. We were given a lovely big tent pitch in a gorgeous spot and couldn't have been happier. Lovely staff, lovely clean facilities, the cheapest laundry facilities of any site we've visited yet and as the farm we'd camped on previously had no laundry this was much appreciated. Not too far to the local Morrisons so ideal for supplies and treating yourself to a lovely all day brekkie. Went to Scarborough one of our days and passed through some stunning villages and countryside, even saw a deer, ideal if you like a drive out. Would definately stay here again, loved it.
Brilliant site ideally situated for several tourist places to visit. The staff are brilliant and always willing to help if needed. We regularly and have,nt found another site that comes anywhere near the friendly home from home atmosphere
brilliant site [been going there for past 2 years] fantastic staff nothing is to much of a problem. we always rebook before we laeve. The family and friends we have recommended this site to have always loved it and vowed to return. The only thing I can say is try it for yourself YOU WON,T BE DISSAPOINTED
We needed an overnight stay on a drive from Moray Firth in Scotland to Swanage in Dorset. This site seemed convenient and we dropped in without previous bookingt and for an ovenight stay in our little tent. The service offered by the staff and the facilities offered were fit for a king staying for a long stay. We needed a good meal in a friendly homely setting. The staff recommendation was spot on - the best sort of English pub, with a quality tht matched the camp site. Absolutely first class, and set us up for this elderly couple to complete their 700 mile journey the next day in fine form. Thak you and well dne.
Our first camping experience. Very friendly staff, very clean, excellent facilities. We'll definitey be back again.
Just got home from a weekend break in are folding camper, what a great place this is and the staff were fantastic, we are a young couple with a 4yr old daughter who loved every min of it playing on the park and meeting new friends, the showers and toilets are spotless,we loved that much we booked to come back for the bank hol weekend, as for the comments about the road noise some people just like to complain, my only downside was going home.
what a lovely site. we booked an extra nights stay as it was so good. the facilities are lovely and clean and the whole site is very well looked after. the dog walk facility is excellent and easily accessible. A 15min stroll takes you in to boroughbridge with a wide range of shops and eating places. will definitely use this site again and recommend to anyone who appreciates superb facilities.
Had a lovely weekend at this site. Facilities exceptionally clean, fresh flowers in the toilet/ shower block a lovely touch. This is a hidden gem that needs to be explored. People have mentioned road noise but it is very faint in the background, would have to be a very light sleeper to notice it. River runs by and is gorgeous. Easy to walk into Boroughbridge itself and clear pathways so dogs can go too. On site dog walk is tiny, but surroundings for dog walking means that this doesn't matter. On site nothing is too much trouble for the wardens and assistants. Go visit!
DATE STAYED: July 2012
Just returned from a lovely weekend at Boroughbridge. The welcome was very friendly and the site staff couldn't have been more helpful. The site was spotlessly clean, as were the toilets/showers. Had a lovely day out at Fountains Abbey and Brimham Rocks then went to Ripon for a meal - all within easy reach of the site, as is Morrisons in Boroughbridge for a nice cooked breakfast to start the day. Will definitely visit again.
SUITABLE FOR: Families,Older couples,Groups,Peaceful break
Just spent 8 nights at this lovely site. The welcome, by Maggi and Ian, was very warm and friendly. The facilities were superb and everywhere was spotlessly clean. Can recommend the visiting fish and chip van!
On a personal note, one of the reasons we were in the area was because I was taking part in the Leeds Race for Life. When they heard about this, Maggi and Ian made me their charity of the week! They very kindly donated £40 proceeds from the Bonus Ball Game to my sponsorship. It was a very kind gesture and I would to thank them very, very much. A very big thank you too to everyone who took part in the game that week.
Lastly, we will miss the ducks!
SUITABLE FOR: Families,Older couples,Groups,Peaceful break,Younger couples
site was easy to find, once on site the staff were very friendly and welcoming - they showed to our pitch which was as expected.
could not ask more for a first time camping experience with family.
did not use on site shop so cannot comment.
the on site wash room and shower facilitates were spotless - brilliant!!!
very small play park (two swings and a climbing thing combined with slide) was good and safe!
all in all brilliant could not ask for more would defiantly recommend and would return!
DATE STAYED: June 2012
This was our very first experience with our tour caravan so did not know what to expect, the staff gave us a very friendly welcome, Ian, a member of the staff, guided us and helped us set up on our pitch, which was a blessing because we had not got a clue, thank you very much, the staff was very helpful and friendly in all the time we stayed there. The site was kept lovely and clean including lovely fresh flowers in the toilets & shower rooms. This is a brilliant site and we definatly would recommend to others.
DATE STAYED: May 2012
Hi, Just spent 3 lovely days at this site ideal place right next to A1/M a little bit of road noise but what do people expect so near a major road toilets first class site is looking very clean and tidy wardens and assistant wardens very friendly and hard working looking after site stayed here for 3 nights on way down and 3 nights back up road will be back...
Lovely site despite weather conditions. Wardens could not have been more helpful when we were faced with a quick pack up of tent owing to rising river levels. Thanks again.
DATE STAYED: April 2012
Have just spent another two nights at this lovely site and once again I can't fault it. A warm, friendly welcome at reception , choice of where I wanted to pitch, and wonderfully clean and warm toilet block and washing up areas. I will be back later in the year too, it is such a fabulous site.
SUITABLE FOR: Families,Older couples,Active break,Peaceful break,Younger couples
Our very first outing with our Teardrop trailer, never been "glamping" before, well, not since i was a kid in the seventies. As im a fussy person, i was nervous about what to expect as far as the facilities were concerned but i need not have worried here as they were excellent. we will be back!
SUITABLE FOR: Older couples,Peaceful break
very helpful site staff - we have a jumbo tent and had not realised not a JWE site-were given a very large pitch and not charged extra.Spotless facilities-very easy walk to local town on main well lit roads. very peaceful, quiet, friendly (even the baby ducklings) and well kept site
-intrusive noise at night from nearby milk processing plant-only not heard when raining heavily!
-showers closed from 11am to 12 30 for cleaning-the very time you need them when you have just packed your very large heavy tent
would visit again with no hesitation
Thanks again to Ian/Maggie&staff for another great week end, nothings ever a problem to them,it's a spotless site well maintained, the kids loved the open grass area next to main site, and watching the boats going up and down the river will be back again in June(ish)with my fishing gear(if the better half lets me)
This site was recommended by several friends. We found the site to be excellent and the managers could not have been more friendly and helpful. The facilities were first class and spotless. Even though it rained most of the time we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definately be back.
I have been a caravaner for the past five years and in that time I have confined myself mainly to the caravan club sites. I recently tried this site at Boroughbridge and was more than pleasantly supprised. On arrival I received a warm and friendly greeting from the site manager Ian and his wife Maggie.
I was escorted to the pitch and provided with all the information needed to assist with the stay.
The location next to the river was fantastic and the site was in excellent order. The toilet/shower facilities I can say were in excellent order and are the cleanest I have come across. The site staff were more than helpfull throughout the stay
I will definately be returning to this site and plan to become a regular visitor. 5 Star
DATE STAYED: March 2012
We selected Boroughbridge for a Family get to gether Some of us living in Lincolnshire others in Cumbria and Northumberland. The wardens really made an effort to welcome us all (11) bent over backwards to help it all come together, so that it was a successful weekend. We would happily recommend this site for a pleasant Friendly stay.
They deserve 11 out of 10, Go there and enjoy. It is of course hand for York, Harrogate and Knarseborough as well as a good base to explore the Dales.
Stayed 3 nights, 2 too many. Too noisy, facilities too far away, accesed by a protracted route, showing little consideration for older members.
If you have a well-behaved four-legged friend with you, don't bother with this site, the dog walk facilities are poor and the enforcement of the "dogs to be on the lead" rule was nothing short of intimidating. It felt like we were in a concentration camp rather than on holiday. Told to put dog on a lead when he was asleep in his bed on the hardstanding next to our van, and again when I let him out under close control to have a wee on the nearest tree!
Yet drivers from the holiday lodges on site regularly drove around the site's one-way system well in excess of the 5 mph limit! Are this site's management interested in stopping such a potentially dangerous offence? When you have to walk along these roads to the facilities, you should at least feel safe. Unlike a car, my dog wouldn't hurt anyone and, being trained off a lead, is always under close control, whether on a lead or otherwise. I don't have a problem with the "dog on a lead" rule, as it is there to ensure dogs are always kept under control. My dog is ALWAYS under close control and a potential threat to no-one, unlike some car drivers on this site.
Consequently, we will not be staying on this site again. The website won't let you book this site for less than 2 nights; my experience suggest this is too long. We won't be staying here again.
This is the first C&CC site we have been disappointed with, most have been excellent.
There are lots of other sites in this area, next time we will be using these!
My Father and I have stayed on this site every year for the last 3 years as we are working at a local dog show, the site is easy to get to, the people are friendly and the site is always immaculate. I have never heard any traffic noise but we are in a caravan so perhaps thats why. Would definitely recommend this site to anyone and Boroughbridge is a lovely little town with some excellent takeaways.
DATE STAYED: September 2011
Whilst the location is wonderful and would make this site as good as any that has access to town and country, it is the Wardens, Maggie and Ian assisted by Christine and Andrew that make this a home not just somewhere to pass through. Spent New Year at the site and enjoyed a lovely Hogmanay evening in great company - and that is from a Scot!!
DATE STAYED: December 2011
Lovely site, but horrible roadnoise which should have been mentioned in the Sitebook. In a tent it was impossible to sleep for 7 consecutive nights. Probably OK for caravans.(Hence 'Town' rather than 'Country')
Nice village (once you pass the A road) with good library.
Reception/shop on site openening times poor.
Facilities clean as usual at clubsites.
DATE STAYED: July 2011
i have stayed on this site many many times over the last couple of years.you are in easy reach of many popular places to visit, easy to get to as the site is near the A1 motorway.but not to near for the noise to bother you.there are quite a few nice pubs nearby, and if you fancy an indian takeaway you wont go wrong if you go to Flavours of India takeaway. The fishing seems to be good for all the other fishermen,i must have a faulty rod or something.
Now for the important bit.
The site and the toilet/shower blocks are always immaculate.Ian and Magie who run the site are without doubt the best wardens i have ever encountered.nothing and i mean nothing is too much trouble to them.i have been going to write a review for a long time but never got around to it,but what happened to me on my last visit to the site stirred my single finger typing into action.i stayed on the site for 4 nights around the begining of december,i was in ripon at the time my mobile rang, It was magie ringing to tell me that they had been told that the site was on flood alert that night, and would i come back and move my caravan to the top of the site, when i got back Ian was there to help me move my caravan and i was on another pitch in a few minutes.Magie and Ian obviously did the same for the other campers.so i would like to thank them once again for their professionalism and calmness in the way they dealt with the situation.when i awoke the next morning the pitch where my caravan and car was the night before was approx 7 feet underwater.and i would have lost the lot.keep up the good work..kind regards to you both.keith and Freda
The toilet facilities at this site are spotless the fresh flowers in the toilet block are a very nice touch. The campsite is well kept with good level pitches. The only thing to spoil my stay was the constant droan all night & day from the A1M but I would recommend this site & I will return
DATE STAYED: November 2011
Very well kept site. Immaculate toilet / shower block. We enjoyed our overnight stay.
One small negative - there was some slightly intrusive noise through the night - not from the nearby A1, which didn't bother us at all, but from the nearby industrial estate - lorry depot I think.
Site has a small play area (2 x swings and a slide). River looked fantastic - broad, scenic, and looked slow-moving enough for an inflatable dinghy (wish we'd brought it)!
DATE STAYED: October 2011
This was our first visit to a Club site and we were very impressed. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff - even when they had to "evacuate" us all at 2030 in the evening due to a flood warning (which didn't happen so don't be concerned). The facilities were excellent and wonderfully clean. I took advantage of the laundry facilities which were reasonably priced and easy to use. The instructions were concise and easy to follow. There was even a pay as you go iron and board. All pitches were level, the shop was well stocked - even down to awning straps. Nearby Boroughbridge has takeaways, nice pubs and a supermarket. Club members get £5 off a meal at one on production of a membership card and the food is excellent. Well worth a visit. Plenty to do in the are. We will definitely be going back.
SUITABLE FOR: Older couples,Active break,Peaceful break,Younger couples
Our first ever caravan experience and we could not have chosen a better site. Close to home and the dealer but far enough away to be 'on our own'. The site was so clean and the staff all so friendly. A very good introduction to caravanning, despite the steep learning curve!
This was the third site we have stayed on since purchasing our tent. It was a lovely site, pretty, peaceful and tranquil. It was also easy to get to. As others have said before me, you could hear the A1 on a morning but it wasn't oppressive and didn't bother our party in any way.
The only slightly negative thing I can say is that compared to other sites we've stayed at, we felt quite close to the neighbour opposite us. Other than that, the toilet/shower block and washing facilities were superb! They were immaculate, and fresh lilles in the washing area was a lovely touch.
I have recommended to family and will return if I'm in the area again.
Found both Site manager and staff to be friendly, and helpful with site and local information.
Morrisons Super Market about 2 miles away in Boroughbridge, very easy to find and get to.
Site is very easy to find off the A1, ideal if your doing a long drive up or down the country and wish an overnight stop-over. One toilet block, very clean and maintained. Shower water lovely and warm if you look a good wallow.
Site office holds a small amount of essentials if you can't make it to the local shops.
We have visited this site several times in the past and have always been more than happy staying there. This time however I have to praise the wardens even more. Despite our arriving at the and of the Bank Holiday weekend the site itself was extremely tidy and the shower block etc spotlessly clean - as they were throughout our stay. The flower beds and baskets made an impressive entrance to the site. The staff were warm, welcoming and very helpful when we asked for advice and whatever the time of day were always willing to pass the time of day in a friendly chat. Well done and thank you to all concerned. I would not hesitate to recommend this site to anyone.
DATE STAYED: August 2011
This was our first camping holiday we've had in a tent, and we had a great time even though weather unpredictable. The site itself offers friendliness, cleanliness,as well as little bonuses like a newspaper, chances of winning fish&chips if your number is displayed on van also bonus ball for 50.00.Many places to visit in area. Will be back soon.
A first for us to come to this area and we were very pleased we did, there is so much to see and do close by. A friendly and helpful welcome from the wardens, clean and well maintained site with modern well built facilities. A good thunder storm hit near the end of the week, but that didn't damp our spirits and the waldens were on call if there was a problem. A well stocked supermarket was within a short drive, keeping us well fed. A good pump ale I can recommend would be the 'Black Sheep'. Plenty of leaflets for local attractions, we tried Whitby 199 steps and the abbey, Eden camp (well worth the money and educational, needs time to see and read the exhibits, dogs are welcome) Shipton well, again dogs welcome. There are castles and abbeys and stately gardens all around this area well worth a visit.
SUITABLE FOR: Families,Older couples,Groups,Active break,Younger couples
Easy to find from the A1. Very warm and friendly welcome when we arrived. Offered a choice of pitch (arrived Thu pm). Toilet block spacious, very clean and well maintained with plenty of facilities (WC, wash basin cubicles, showers, hair-dryer). Very quiet, despite proximity to A1. Well stocked shop, with a choice of papers in the mornings. Fish & chip van visits the site on Thu & Sat evenings, but also plenty of eating and drinking holes available in Boroughbridge itself, which is a 5 minute drive or 20-30 minute walk away. An ideal location with easy access to the North Yorkshire Moors or Dales. Highlight of the stay was the entertaining, morning camp inspection by the resident troop of ducks. Can think of nothing negative about this site and would highly recommend a stay and would go again.
This was my first outing with a tent, and I have to say I was very impressed by everything about the site. Check-in was quick and efficient, I was shown to the camping area and given practically the whole field to choose where I pitched my tent. The facilities were spotless, warm and I didn't have to wait once to use the showers (though I am an early riser and was in and out before 7 both mornings). The A1 is very close but I didn't really hear it. We had some really heavy rain during one day and even though the field is flat, the pitches appeared to be unaffected. My one grumble - two families arrived after me and pitched their tents either side of mine, they too would have had the whole field to choose from! However, this is a fabulous site and I can't recommend it highly enough.
SUITABLE FOR: Families,Groups,Active break
The wardens and deputies were so helpful and couldn't do enough to assist. This was our first time out in our motorhome and we had a great time. The site was everything and more that you would want from a site. We walked into Boroughbridge and found an excellent butcher for bbq meat (opposite chippy) very friendly. We had a day out in Knaresborough which was market day (Wed) and caught the bus from the site gate. (Being oldies we used our bus pass). We will definitely go again and take our friends with us who are also motorhomers. Thank you to Maggie, Ian and deputies.
SUITABLE FOR: Families,Older couples,Younger couples
Site was easy to find from the A1, well signposted with welcoming staff that quickly showed us to our pitch & offered plenty of information on the site & local area.
The site amenities are kept very clean (just a shame some people are not trained how to use a toilet / shower). To get to the amenity block from the main field it is necessary to climb up & down a couple of flights of stairs or use a ramp, those with mobility problems may find this difficult as my wife did.
There is some noise from the motorway but this soon fades into the background.
A great base to tour the York’s Moors, Harrogate, Knaresborough York etc. You could come here for weeks on end & still not see everything & never tire of the area.
Plenty of rain whilst on site but the area drained well so no problem there.
Overall a lovely site which we would recommend to most people, unfortunately we will not return because of the steps / ramps to the amenity block, to difficult for my wife to access, a great shame.
Just returned home from a short break at this site. Staff really friendly and helpful. I went with a family group from age 3 to 16. Plus I am in.a wheelchair. Both the toilets were spotless and the disabled toilet come shower room were the best I have ever come across. Loads of hot water. Even a hairdryer for 20p. There is a ramp from camping field to toilet block. Or disabled parking right outside. Small park for the smaller kiddie. Games room with pool table and board games for the older ones. Morrison and lots of other shops 5 mins by car. Cheap close fishing too. Would definitely return .
We spent two nights at this site en route to Scotland to break up a long drive. The staff were lovely, facilities great and we had a good pitch near the children's play area so we could watch our children play from our tent. It is a nice site but a personal gripe for me is that it is very close to the A1 (possibly a bonus for some) and I found it very noisy at night. I am a light sleeper though. Other light sleepers would benefit from earplugs at night! Good access to sightseeing in York.
YET ANOTHER GREAT WEEKS STAY IAN/MAGGIE,ANDREW/EVONNE ALWAYS MAKE YOU WELCOME. THE SITE"AS ALWAYS" IS SPOTLESS,CLEAN & TIDY CAN'T FAULT IT AT ALL,WE WILL BE BACK AUG BANK HOLIDAY
Excellent place to stop when heading north (or south). The directions to the camp are spot on. Some traffic noise from the main road.It was not enough to bother me at night but other campers may prefer a quieter site. Showers etc excellent. I did not have to queue when I was staying at the site. A reasonable walk to the town. (Half an hour with a dog who sniffs every tree and lamp post). There is a pavement all the way, which helps. The visiting fish chip van is good, although I only tried the chips. (I liked the idea of the raffle ticket to win a free dinner but sadly, did not win). I like being able to order a newspaper.
Wonderful place to stay for either tents, caravans or motorhomes, right on the banks of the river. 20minutes walk into town with many good restaurants, there is a well stocked shop and wonderful staff who give you a friendly welcome and a helping hand whenever you need. Facilities are clean and tidy, but just one gripe - showers are push button and cannot adjust the water temperature. There is some traffic noise but this soon fades into the background, just a lovely place to stay with lots to see and do in the area.
This is super site and so helpful and friendly,we have stayed loads of times now. But it was our first outing, and warden was fab helped us so much. I would give them 100 points.

A lovely site set by the side of the river. Facilities very clean and plenty of hot water. Quaint village of Roecliffe nearby with good pub (The Crown Inn),nice to visit Boroughbridge itself about a 20min walk.
Also excellent dog walk directly next to site, we will be back.
A big thank you to all of the team who did everything they could to accomodate our needs. We have stayed at the site several times, using it as a home from home while visiting a family member who was ill. Your help was really appreciated. The site has a lovely open feel to it while still being close to the town with all its amenities. The site facilities are some of the best. This is one of the few sites that we look forward to visiting time and time again. The facilities for dogs are particularly good.
brilliant site been 2 weekends in a row 1st weekend brilliant sunshine 2nd poured down. staff are brilliant nothing to much trouble trouble for them. only one problem don,t believe sat/nav when arriving from a168 don,t turn turn left into brickhouse lane carry on for 200 yards site is on the RIGHT. it,s no fun turning around on a industrial estate with an audiance
DATE STAYED: July 2008
Very friendly & helpful staff & a very well run site. Clean, modern toilet block. Level sites. Shower cubicles are small & unfortunately there is not any means to alter the temp of the shower water & they constantly need turning on as the water only runs for a short time without pressing the tap . We liked the plants & flowers in the toilet blocks. Easy walk into Boroughbridge with various options for eating out, also very pleasant walk outside the side – Roecliffe Ramble along the river. Nice looking pub in Roecliffe although we didn’t sample the food. We liked the mobile vans fish & chips, which are on sale on site on Thursday and Saturday

very friendly staff on site.very pleased with the facilities, very clean and tidy, several visits from the ducks, tried to make sure that we had some bread for them, plus the the blackbirds.lots of interesting places to visit, especially ripon ,york and knaresborough.got a lot of good advice from the village shop that i got my fishing bait from, when i fished from the lake on site ,one reason we choose this site plus we hadnt been to the area before, but we know that we will visit this site again and we would highly recommend it to any one to visit.
We started our holiday with a great welcome, followed by personal care and attention from Ian.(This was my first real attempt to reverse my Caravan and he helped beyond belief)The fascilities were SPOTLESS. Clean Showers Loo's and Chemical disposal.
The site is very well laid out and very friendly. Yes you do here the motorway on occassions but we hardly noticed it after a day or so.
The site is great for Towns and Dales we will certainly come back.
Thanks to Ian and His wife for making our stay that little bit more than a typical stay.GREAT JOB THANK YOU
Excellent site. Was only vaguely aware of traffic noise from A1M, but not enough to spoil the general peacefulness of the site. It's a good transit stop for those traveling the length of the country.
Steps to and from main caravan area to the wash-house/toilet block to get over the ridge. Friendly helpful staff, nice and clean toilet block, and one of the best Chem.disposal rooms I've ever seen. Made the toilet emptying duty seem relatively decent !(sort of!)
Beware that ducks come on site - not a problem, but one duck got stuck in the awning and eventually found it's way out in a bit of a panic, as did a starling, later. They weren't a problem though, and made it quite fun. Having kids, the site staff put us near the climbing/play area which was ideal.
Nice and near for Ripon and Fountains Abbey which is a must to get kids tired out, and explore an amazing ruin site!
Overall, we'd have no hesitation in returning. (Good take-away's in B/bridge too, but the portions of fish and chips were HUGE, so you don't need to go large unless you have a massive appetite, or have lots of extra folks to feed!)
lovely site, this being our first time camping we were shown a choice of pitches to place our tent , the one we chose was by the river. as it was breezy we were helped out by a staff member to erect our tent .all facilities were very clean , a perfect site for older couples who want peace and quiet.
WE HAVE TO SAY THAT THE STAFF ON THIS SITE ARE TOP NOTCH, WHILE WE WERE STAYING THE ELECTRICS KEPT TRIPPING OUT BUT THIS DID NOT PHASE IAN AND ANDREW RUNNING BACK AND FORTH ALL WEEK-END TRYING TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THE STAFF ON SITE ARE A CREDIT TO OUR CLUB. MANY THANKS FOR LOOKING AFTER US, WE WILL BE BACK.
5 Star site.
You could walk round and not find anything wrong with this site.
We will be going back on a regular basis.
A friendly welcome greeted us. The facilities are very clean and well maintained with lots of thought put into the needs of those with younger children. We loved the rotary dryers at the back of the washblock, a pleasant change to having to feed money into a tumble dryer! Beware the ducks are very friendly and may well wander into your awning in the morning in search of some bread! Already looking forward to our next visit:)
If people are not happy with the service and facilities offered at Boroughbridge then they best give up on camping and caravan's. We could not fault the site. The staff couldn't do enough for you. We are new to camping and helped us blow up our Kayak and even lent us an ariel as the one we brought was pretty useless. The shop on site is well stocked. The toilets and showers were spotless, even have fresh flowers. The water was always hot and showers were excellent. We tried the chip van on Saturday for tea and to be honset were rather suprised. The food was as good, if not better than our local chippie. The river the site is next to is great for kayaking, with a lovely paddle down to Ripon. Morrisons is 5 minutes away in case you forget anything, and the food at the Crown Inn a 10 minute walk away is fantastic.
Yes at times you can hear the A1, but it depends on the wind direction and really isnt that loud at all. We never heard the dairy, must be sound sleepers.
We will definately visit again. Highly Recommended
I stayed here with my husband, two children and dog in a tent on a windy wet weekend. We found the staff to be very friendly and welcoming on arrival and also went out of there way to help when we needed to jump start our car (after forgetting to unplug he fridge!). The toilet facilities were very clean and warm. The dog walk was great for our dog (unfortunately others visiitors with dogs had not been that considerrate and left poo on the field on the way to the walk- just outside our tent!). The children's play area was very small. The village of roecliffe has a beautiful walk that finishes by a great pub!
SUITABLE FOR: Families,Groups,Peaceful break,Younger couples
First trip as a club member and as Boroughbridge is not too far from where we live, we thought we would give this site a go, the welcome we received was excellent, everything was explained well, and we were made to feel really welcome. We were shown to our pitch which I thought was a nice touch. The campsite is beautiful with plenty of room between each camper. The shower/toilet blocks are superb, very clean and tidy, there are even flowers inside, the dishwashing area, laundry/ironing room are all enclosed within the shower block building. Where we were sited was really peacefull, Boroughbridge is only a couple of mins drive away from the campsite and is an interesting little town to walk around, it also has a Morrisons supermarket which was handy for our bbq food etc. All in all we really enjoyed our stay and will definately be coming back, lets hope the rest of the club sites are as good as this one.
This was our first time on a caravan & camping club site. Stayed over for one night on our way to Donington Park, easy reach park just of the motorway. Warden & receptionst couldn't have been more helpful. Lovely clean and well kept site. Had a power cut at night but warden kept us informed and electricty wasn't off for long. Would stay at this site again.
DATE STAYED: April 2011
First time at Boroughbridge and really enjoyed it.It was peaceful and tranquil, also very handy to vist places. The people staying were very friendly and only to good to help if needed. The staff were brilliant too, only to glad to help. The place to eat in Boroughbridge we found was The Grantham Hotel..the carvery was to die for and the menu was very good as well. The landlady Sue welcomed us with open arms,i just wish she would moved to our local and i would never have to cook again. But don't take my word try it and you won't be disapointed. We will of course be going to this campsite more often now, highly recomended.
Although I only stayed one night as a backpacker, I was unexpectedly welcomed by name on my arrival. Very friendly reception and just the right amount of helpful information provided - good knowledge of where to eat locally, etc. Wash facilities excellent and kept very clean. Flat, grassy pitch and acres of space for tents. All in all, a very pleasant camping experience.
SUITABLE FOR: Families,Groups,Active break,Peaceful break,Younger couples
We've stayed at this site twice, having returned following a great first visit. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The site facilities are more than adequate for a peaceful stay. The grounds and toilet/shower facilities were always clean and well presented. The ground is flat so pitching was easy. We stayed next to the river which added a peaceful sense of occassion (take plenty of bread to keep the greedy baby ducks happy!!). Nearby facilities in Boroughbridge are only a few minutes away and can be accessed by car or on foot, whilst York/Ripon/Knaresbrough are all within a short drive. Overall - a RECOMMENDED and friendly and peaceful site worthy of a visit.
The site is by the A1M, so very easy to get to, but there is a constant hum of traffic - not a problem in a caravan but could be disturbing under canvas. Toilet block lovely but not adequate under pressure - not enough showers - why do the C&CC insist on putting in so many washbasin cubicles at the expense of shower cubicles? Negative points over. Nice playground for kids, nice location by river. Boroughbridge not a bad little town, not much to see in town itself but there is a large supermarket, good fish and chip shop, a good picnic area by the river and Roman remains nearby.
A fantastic site. The welcome was perfect, as was the care given in showing us our pitch, supply of ice packs and the information given to enable us to enjoy our stay. We will definitely be returning to this wonderful site. The toilet\wash facilities were immaculate. A very well run site. Thank you.
A well kept site within easy reach of local ameneties. Sadly, also within easy reach of the A1M which kept waking us all up each night with the traffic noise. This is in addition to the helicopters in the middle of the night from RAF Dishforth a few miles away. Site was very busy when we booked and opted for the only available standard club pitch (£91 for 4 nights). We understood that there was no electric available and were happy to go along with that but when we arrived we were not put on a pitch in the campsite itself but in an adjoining field which had just been cut to make room for more units. For the facilities we used, we would have been as well catered for in my brother in law's field! What made it more annoying was the fact that there were pitches with electricity vacant on all the nights we stayed and we were not offered the option to move onto any of these pitches. If you are wanting a quiet break in the Yorkshire countryside, don't come here as quiet it is not. Sorry to be so ascerbic, but £91 for field camping is extortionate. When we did try to use the family room to shower our children, we ran the shower for approx two mins to get warm water, put child no 1 under and the water turned clap cold once he had got his hair in shampoo, requiring me to take himi half naked and dripping wet to the mens shower room to get him rinsed off.
Brilliant site . Facilities are really clean and very well maintained . Ian and maggie really helpful and will do anything for you well impressed will be back down later on in the year .
This was our first camping trip so we dont have anything else to compare to. However what I can say is that Boroughbridge was lovely!!! The staff were friendly, approachable and helpful. The shower and toilet block was immaculate!!!We had a lovely pitch and a hook. There was a minor hitch with the electric mid afternoon but was sorted swiftly and didnt affect us in any way. There is a dog walking area and a field where the children could fly kites/ play football without worries of tents or caravans. It was a short drive to a small town and shops incl large supermarket. Very easy to get to the site. I hope the other sites live up to the same high standards.
I will start with two minor negative points. First, the road to the pitches is uneven in one place and you can "bottom out" on the slope if not careful. Secondly was the noise from the local dairy which has the ocasional loud clatter at 5am which can wake you up.
That being said, my family loved the stay. This is by a river but is fenced off so is safe for young children. On arrival I was made to feel welcome and was shown to my pitch which was in a huge field and told to pitch where i liked. Initially we went for a weekend but extended for another two nights and that was no problem. The family washroom was also a great plus! The chip Van pops round twice a week. There is a small play area for kids which my little boy loved.
Morrisons is literaly a 3 minute drive away and you are within easy reach of Ripon, Newby Hall and all of the yorkshire Dales.
This was my first experience of the C&CC sites and I will be using it again.

A lovely site with a warm welcome from the wardens on arrival. Everything was explained to us and we even had our pitch mown for us before pitching the tent. You could hear the noise from the A1 but it wasn't a problem for us. The facilities were spotless, very clean. The only problem is the access onto the site which is up and over a small hill. If you are not careful you will ground your car. The warden does mention where to position your car in order to avoid this but when the husband is driving and he forgets... the club could do with rectifying this. We visited the Crowne Inn in Roecliffe. The food was exquisite but also expensive, however an appreciated treat. Friendly staff too. We went early evening (6pm) and there was no problem with just turning up for a table. Would definitely consider visiting this site again. We didn't look at the lodges but there were plenty of signs advertising their purchase price of £90k(!) which we thought was steep bearing in mind the veranda looked out onto the neighbouring lodge.
Lovely site by the river with large pitches so no sense of being crowded. Very helpful wardens keen to share their local knowledge. Facilities absolutely spotless - plenty of toilets, showers and privacy cubicles (certainly more than the two mentioned by other visitors!). Despite being minutes from the A1 the noise of traffic was not at all intrusive - even in the evenings when the site was quiet. Treat yourself to a meal at The Crown in Roecliffe - it is expensive but well worth it. (If you just want a quiet drink I suggest you go elsewhere, however, unless its warm enough to sit outside as there are no tables inside other than for meals). Would definitely recommend this site and would have no hesitation in returning.
An excellent site, it was our first visit. Greeted at the gate, checked in then shown to our pitch ! All amenities were first class and the staff very helpful. The only critisism we had was no recycle bins and only one waste skip, otherwise A1.
wardens very helpful and friendly lovely little shop toilets beautiful and clean infact sparkling best toilets ever will visit again
One of the easiest sites to get to as its only a short distance from the A1. This does mean however that there is a constant background road noise. The Site is in a great area with plenty to do and see. The managers are extremely friendly and helpful but as it is apparent that the site is prone to flooding, they appear to be fighting a losing battle keeping the mud at bay during the winter months. I feel that as this is an all year round site, the club should invest in a tarmac road and wider hard standings. During my week-long stay, I was asked to park my vehicle some 40yds from my caravan which meant mud in the car and the caravan which did mar the enjoyment a little. Our stay was in February when it was quiet but I do wonder how the facilities would cope in busier times as there are only 2 toilets and wash basins (and no urinals) in the mens washroom.

A warm welcome certainly makes a difference on a cold grey wet Friday, and really sets you up for your stay and that’s what we received here. The wardens were exemplary; from walking in we were greeted with a smile and given full details on the site, its facilities and local area. We had booked the site after reading the reviews on the CCC website and we were not disappointed.
This was our first outing in our new caravan and we were a little nervous of pitching up, however after being shown to our large hardstanding pitch the warden assisted my husband professionally, patiently and calmly, coaching him until we were level, probably saving us 30 mins and an argument in the process. So this would be a great site for any first timers.
Although the site is quiet, it is suitable for young families (the river is fenced off)and there is a small play area for children ( 2 swings and a slide), and there was plenty of room to have a run around, it was great we didn’t use the car once instead opting to have a pleasant 15 min walk into Boroughbridge heading left out of the site where you pass the 3 devils arrows and you can also visit the many tiny shops and pubs in the town, the Black bull gave a lovely warm welcome, a little more up market and a 15 min walk to the right of the site is the Crown Hotel (gastro pub) in Roecliffe, however be warned, walking gear is not really appreciated in the crown, it does serve lovely (albeit pricey) food, advance booking essential.
The facilities are immaculate, and warm, although my only criticism ( and I am being picky) is that there were only 2 loos and no general sink to wash your hands afterwards, instead there was 2 washing booths, so if they were in use you would have to wait, this no way impacted on my stay. There is a family washing room, to use this facility speak with reception and they will provide a key.
I can’t wait to return to this site, Thank you for a wonderful weekend
this site is highly recomended. Ian and Maggi(managers)give the best welcome and put themselves out to make your stay a good one. The site flooded while we were there but they came to the rescue and found us a spot next to all facilities to complete our stay. this is an excellent site for touring the dales or just relaxing by the river, have a play park for kids and a large field for the dogs. Had a fantastic break and will return again.
In December 2010 we travelled North from Kent in extreme snow conditions. We had booked ahead and found the staff had cleared the access to our pitch in anticipation of our arrival. The snow was almost a foot deep and we were clearly not going further. Although we did not get to enjoy most of the facilities of the site on this occasion, the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff ensured we will remember the site for a future return.
DATE STAYED: December 2010
This was a lovely clean site, more ideal for a stop over as there is easy access to the motorway (M1). The only problem we found was the very steep hump bridge on entering and leaving the site which could cause risk of grounding.
DATE STAYED: August 2010
Site was beautiful, gorgeous location, Ian and Maggie were fantastic, Highly recommended. We will be going back!!
DATE STAYED: October 2010
This site was recommended to us by Bob and Sheena, Managers of the Barnard Castle Camp Site. It did what it said on the box, relaxing, picturesque, warm, friendly welcome, nothing was to much trouble for the managers.
Facilities again fantastic a real pleasure to find this little hamlet inclusive of beautiful surroundings. Will be soon returning to chillax and take in this surreal part of the country.
What a great hideaway! placed between Roecliffe village & Boroughbridge, both within walking distance(5 &15 mins) as is Aldborough, though a little further.
Lots of places to eat locally, very pretty villages & some good walking. Roman village Aldborough only open at weekends which was disappointing as we stayed during the week.
Site very clean and well maintained. Some great pitches overlooking River Ure, many evenings spent watching fish jumping!Lovely scenery & great sunsets, well worth a long stay.
Hourly bus service to Ripon, Knaresborough & Harrogate but it terminates quick early in the evening 6pm. Definately on our revisit list!
