Our family (2 adults/2 kids) have been visiting this site annually for our 2 week summer holiday. Never had a bad holiday. Lovely location, very friendly and helpful staff, we've always found the facilities clean. Lots of play areas for the kids, peaceful areas of site and noisier areas - so just choose where you want to be. Ok, some things may need updating (pool area/toilets/showers) but the staff/location/site in general more than make up for any of this. We went at Easter last year - pool closed, didn't matter. So much to see/do on the island, you will never get bored.

Had a great week, children loved the pool, (Aged 2yrs & 4 mths) toilet/shower blocks could do with upgrading but were clean most of the time considering how busy the site was. Will certainly return.

i went to Adgestone in october, cant fault the staff, very helpful but they cant make up for the uncleanliness of the site! the toilet blocks always seemed dirty and at one point only one toilet block was open, causing a 15 min wait for the showers, which werent any better to be honest. i dont mean to be harsh but a review is where you tell people what you think.

This is a lovely site which could be so much better if only the club would invest in it. The staff are doing the best they can but the toilet blocks and other facilities are old and worn and impossible to look pristine. There have been so many adverse comments on this I am surprised the club are not doing anything about it. Despite this we will be returning if the site is still open next year with its falling support.

We stayed here in July 2011 in our 1972 VW Bay camper van. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The site wasn't very busy so plenty of pitches to choose from and the rep took time to suggest the pro's and con's depending on our preference - sunrise, sunset etc. The kids play area looked good for families. We have a dog and though the dog walk is small in comparison to some places we've stayed you are close to a cycle/walking path that goes for miles. As for facilities yes they are dated but in my opinion could be improved fairly inexpensively with more clothes hooks in the cubicles and new shower heads (on the assumption water pressure is up to it!). We enjoyed the IOW and would definitely go back to Adgestone. Visit the Garlic farm if you're into cooking and eating nice food.

the site was lovely except the toilet/showering facilities were old and always looked filthy even when clean. there were 2 toilet/shower blocks but 1 was closed due to lack of staff. queuing for showers and toilets at busy times. there was also reduced opening times for the shop and take away. this was during the school holidays! not great.

as others have said the site needs more showers and needs to update the current ones. Lanes near site are very narrow so take care also the site wifi is only good if you stand outside the office. but the site is lovely for kids and is in a very good location. Will go back again as the island is superb.

Having spent 17 nights at this site I was very disapointed to discover the state of the toilet/showers. They are in need of updating ASAP and should include more showers for a site of this size. The showers are NOT safe to use either as I found they go hot and cold without even touching the controls and I hurt my back with hot water. It spoilt my much looked forwards to holiday.
The rules for use of the unmanned swimming pool again are nothing like local council ru ones where children from the age of 9 years are able to use them alone. Here you have to be 12 years of age or with an adult at all times. I would suggest that given the amount of site staff there you should have one as a pool attendant at all times and reduce the age limit. My children found it very degrading having to have parents with them all the time when they go swimming all the time at home on their own.
Unless things change we would not return to this site but, would go back to the Island as it is a lovely place.

We stayed for a week in August and although the site and pitches were good and well layed out, I have marked it down on facilities and cleanliness due to the toilet and shower facilities. There are not enough showers to accomodate a site that size, it was at least a 15 minute wait daily for one. They are outdated and feel dirty. There only 2 shower/toilet blocks so it is a fair trek to them depending on which part of the site you are on. Another shower/toilet block on the far field wouldn't be unreasonable. I was surprised at the sign in the toilets displaying 99.7% customer satisfaction of toilet cleanliness as I feel it barely reached 50%. I feel like I am doing the site a slight injustice as apart from these things I was very happy with the site and shop/pool facilities

Team were very helpful when we arrived, especailly as we had changed our tent since booking and neeeded a larger pitch! Disabled bathroom quite well equipped and we liked that it was key operated and wasn't shared with baby chnaged or family bathrooms as we have experienced on other sites. The site was reasonably level for using a wheelchair. Shop, pool and takeaway were good. Good location for walking and cycling and good location for visiting the island.we visited Sandown, Shanklin, Needles, Ventnor, Barding and the Roman Villa, Rhyde, Osborne House, the Donkey sanctuary, Godshill and Bembridge. We had a great stay.Others staying on the site were friendly.we were very lucky with the weather.

This site is excellent we go every year, sometimes on our own, others with our family this year we took our adult daughter and 19month grandaughter. site staff are so welcoming and friendly very helpful but also leave you to get on with your holiday. Facilities are getting old but work well water is hot and all are kept very clean. Plenty of space, with areas for all types of family. Our grandaught enjoyed the todlers play park. And the family rooms were excellent for baby baths before bedtime. There is so much to do on the Island we have still not done it all despite going there all my life (I'm in my 50's). Thank you to all the staff for a brilliant stay. Only down side was when the school holidays start some families make the showers dirty, it does not take a minute to mop it out. So why can't you all help the staff keep the place clean for all to use! See you again next year.

As kids we used to holiday on the Island every year and so it was with fond and some forgotten memories I returned with my own family for a week in July. When making the booking the staff were very helpful just as when we arrived. They were all very friendly and very accommodating but a special mention has to go to Steve & Yvonne. Nothing was too much trouble for them and their help made the holiday all the more special. Plans are already being made to return next year. My sisterinlaw had arranged a surprise getaway for my brother as part of his 40th and the site managers were kind enough to allow for them to pitch next to us when they arrived later in the week. This was at their discretion and we're all very grateful - his face was a picture! They allowed some of our extended family who have settled on the Island to visit on the Saturday for a BBQ which Sam had arranged as part of the surprise. We left on the Sunday with no pressure to be gone by a certain time - Yvonne later said she had us down as "Quarter to Three'ers" from the moment she saw us arrive! The site itself is wonderful. Facilities are plentiful, very clean and well maintained. There are two playgrounds one for younger children, an outdoor swimming pool and a smaller one too. There’s a shop & a takeaway on site which have been franchised but weren’t very reliable for opening - no fault of the site but this was no issue as there’s a Morrissons nearby. The holiday was a wonderful break made even more special by the staff facilitating the surprise weekend and even a birthday message for me on the entrance chalkboard. The manager was kind enough to call when we were on the ferry as he had found a bracelet which we had left by the pool in the morning and arranged to post it. Without a doubt the Team are fantastic and a credit to the Club as is the site. I relived memories lost from a much simpler time and in so doing sparked the desire to return again next year and who knows after that?! Thankyou.

This site was excellent. We were lucky with the weather and throughly enjoyed our stay. The welcome and cleanliness were brilliant, the facilities could do with updating however.
The only negative point occured on the day we left, we turned into the lane from the site back to lake with our van and met an agressive lorry driver complete with 18 ton truck who refused to back up his vehicle and insisted we reversed, which we did for some distance before he relented and pulled into a drive way to let us pass. Be warned this approach road to the site is very tricky. Can the club not use the entrance at the gateway at the other end of the site to avoid this narrow lane? I would hate anyone else to have this experience as it spoiled our journey home after a beautiful holiday.

We have just returned from a week on the Isle of Wight which was absolutely fantastic.
The staff at Adgestone campsite couldn't be more helpful and the surroundings are just perfect. Whilst on the site you feel like you are in the middle of the countryside but in truth you are just a short drive from the nearest towns and sandy beaches.
The outdoor swimming pool is very warm and we used it everyday. In fact we were the only ones in it each morning and so it felt like a private pool which was absolutely fantastic!
Whilst it might be true that the facilities are fairly old, they were kept really clean throughout the whole of our stay and the showers are extremely hot and much better than many newer ones I have used at other sites. The family rooms also deserve a mention - they were a brilliant layout with plenty of room and made getting ready with two young children (2 and 4) a pleasure rather than the usual chore whilst away.
Overall, we had a lovely time on the Isle of Wight and our only complaint is that we didn't have enough time to see and do more of what the island has to offer!
A big thank you to everyone at Adgestone who made the trip so perfect. We hope to return very soon!

After a long drive and ferry crossing, it was great to have a happy and cheerful welcome. The site itself was ideally situated for nearby beaches as well as nature trails.
A golf course is within 1 mile, and a local Vineyard (Hic!)on the doorstep.
We couldn't have asked for better weather,so every morning we enjoyed a dip in the heated swimming pool.
A thoroughly enjoyable stay was had by all.
I have to mention two site wardens who were absolutely brilliant, Yvonne and Steve. -Thank you so much for all of your help you are a credit to the club!
We hope to be back soon......

Stayed at a few campsites during our holiday & only wish we'd found this one first! This site is very quiet & great for both older couples & families. Plenty for children to do with a pool, 2 play area's & plenty of space where they can run around & let off steam! Ideal for older couples too that want a quiet relaxing place to stay. Facilities were clean throughout our stay & staff were friendly. Would reccomend to anyone that wants a peaceful place to stay, this will be our first choice when we come back again next month!

Very friendly and helpful wardens, especially considering we arrived late having taken an unplanned scenic tour of the lanes from the ferry. As a result we ended up near the entrance with easy access to the facilities, and against a large hedge as an excellent windbreak, but still had plenty of room around us. The site was very quiet and peaceful over the early May bank holiday and therefore we had no issue with the facilities which although dated were very clean. However, if the site is full I can see that there would be queues for the limited 2 male, 2 female, 2 family showers. The swimming pool was opened on the weekend of our stay and was a "fresh" 15c but my son and I had a lovely private swim.
The shop is a separate franchise and the Wardens did not know when it would be open.
The country location is only a mile from the sea with Co-ops and a Morrisons a short drive away.
We enjoyed our short visit to the Isle of Wight with plenty to see and do, and intend to come back again.
Recommended for families at all times and others outside of school holidays.

This site was one of the best campsites we've been on. We have 2 boys aged 9 and 11yrs, there was a seperate play area for the older children with a football pitch and play area. This was great for the boys to make new friends and stay out of harms way. There was also a table tenis area undercover, so ideal for when it rained. The wash areas were all kept spotless. There was a great little shop on site with all the essentials. We didn't use the swimming pool on site, as we didn't have very warm weather, but there is also a great leisure centre 5 mins away which we did use. We would return to this site again.

Just got back from a 3 day break cycling on the Island. What a lovely site this is ! A fanatstic location especially if you are cycling, walking etc. There is an old railway line that has been tarmacced for most of the way from Sandown to West Cowes via Newport. Also some lovely walks within a short distance and only a short ride/drive from the coast at Shanklin.I thought the facilities were excellent and clean although it was quiet when wew were here last weekend and i guess with a full site you can see where they may need to upgrade to meet demand but all in all i recommend it to anyone and indeed a member of my family is looking at booking a few days here in September

I took my hyper active 11 year old son on a short camping break for 3 nights 18-21 April low season. We loved it. Quite, peaceful and relaxing for me and my son soon made some new friends to play with, a couple of young lads with their families who were camped across the way from us. The staff that we met on arrival(Jenny & Phil) were very pleasant. Having checkd in, Phil showed us around the site and took us to our pitch. He even recommended some fun places for me to take my son. The facilities on site that were open were spotless. Situated about 10 minutes slow drive from Lake, the road leading to the site being a narrow country lane, we had brunch at Morrisons every morning after making our own breakfast on site. We were able to visit different parts of the island from Adgestone without any difficulty. Hopefully even before the summer season has finished. Only negative comment I can think of is the showers were a little cramped but again they were spotless and water was lovley and warm in the morning. Will definetly be visiting this lovely site again.

We have visited this site many times and love the setting and tranquility but the showers are toilets although extreamly clean and well maintained by the wardens they are desperate for rebuilding and modernising many peaple we have met over the years are now saying they will not visit any more untilo the club spends some money the shop is a joke and this year the clud has decided to only open fer a short season (ONE HAS TO ASK IF THE CLUB INTEND KEEPING THIS SITE) As the CC have just compleatly refurbished there site and are getting many bookings so considering Adgestone is in a far superior setting why is it being run down by head office

We have quite a large outfit and the pitch allocated was perfect. Plenty of room although a long way from the facilities. Our boys were 5 and 3 at the time and loved it. A great atmosphere, all the children played together, making up games etc and the play area was a lovely size. There's an easy cycle route into Sandown from the campsite which we often used. The only downside were the showers. We gave up using them in the end and resorted to using our caravan shower - there aren't enough for the size of the campsite - once waited over an hour - and you could barely get your hair wet as the pressure so poor. There are 3 good family rooms but again the wait for them was so long that we just felt we were wasting half our day trying to get washed.

Our family of four, including two teenage children, really enjoyed staying at the Adgestone site. I have just come back from Adgestone.
Had a great time the girls loved the pool nice and secluded, will be going back next year. The showers were a bit dated and could use having money spent on them, there was only 6 showers in the ladies over the whole of the site which has 200 pitches, there was no pressure in the showers so rinsing your hair took time.
Apart from that would recommend the site.

This is a good family site in a great location, but let down by rather "tired" facilities. First, on a positive note, it's a very peaceful and quiet site, very safe for kids to ride around and with easy access to walks & bike rides, yet within a few miles of Sandown or Lake, where you can find all the necessary facilities. It has an excellent pool and a couple of good play areas for kids. Unfortunately it's let down by a couple of major things. First, the showers are rubbish. There are nowhere near enough of them - I had to queue almost every morning. The water pressure is feeble, there's not much space for hanging up clothes and towels, and they feel cramped and just generally "old". I get the feeling that they haven't been updated since the 80's - come on Adgestone, spend some money and refurbish them - they are letting down the site badly. And at the same time, can you please put in a few more washers & dryers - three of each for a site with 270 pitches is a joke. I had to do my washing at 11pm! Finally, the shop leaves a lot to be desired. I think this is a separate business, not owned by the camp site, but although it has a large captive market, there was a serious lack of fresh meat & veg, meaning that you couldn't buy the necessary ingredients for a decent meal. A couple of packs of sausages and a lot of tinned food doesn't make a barbeque - where were the steaks and burgers?? I don't want to sound too negative - I would probably go there again, but it could be so much better. This is the first Camping & Caravanning Club site I've visited, and I expected far better - I hope this isn't the standard generally.
