Very friendly & helpful staff on our 2 day visit .As it was quiet we was spoilt for choice for a pitch chocks optional but we coped fine without. Is a lovely quiet location with added bonus of a heated outdoor pool which i (Alan) tried out. On site shop sells basic essentials & alcohol though is a Spar bout 1m away if more needed. Takeaway on site too. Shower blocks little outdated i agree but always kept very clean & were more than up to the job. We were also graced in evenings by the local ducks lookin out for titbits. Sandown approx 2 miles & nice walk on cycle route/ residential streets.Exit site at far end go left & cycle track approx 300yds Worth taking visit to IoW Zoo & Tiger Sanctuary got to see tigers being fed also a nice beach nearby. Garlic farm worth a visit also Alum Bay for The Needles & getting to watch Glass blowing.Would reccomend this site & would happily visit again.

Due to hurting my back just four days prior to my arrival at Adgestone I was unable to explore the area as previous reviewerf. However, I do want to say a big thank you to Gerald, Denise and Tim for all their help during my seven day stay. They pitched my motor home near to the toilets so I had just a little walk to the facilities and they also organised a visit to the osteopath for me. I will be back to do all the things I have missed out this time and just hope I don’t have another fall to mess up again! You all deserve a gold medal award for your ready smiles and very kind natures. Thank you again.

We spent 3 nights at Adgestone and will certainly visit again.
My hot tip is to follow the recommended route to the site from the ferry. I got lost and arrived through the narrow lanes. It is far easier to come and go via Lake, between Sandown and Shanklin. I had to be talked in by the warden, who could not have been more helpful.
The site is large but has a small feel to it due to the use of hedges. There are two toilet/shower blocks but only the older of these was open; I was concerned about this having read the previous reports however although these are old, and somewhat outdated, they were more than adequate, spotlessly clean, and I never had to wait for a shower to be free. The 4 stars are only to flag to the club that they need to update the old block.
The on-site shop is ace, and the half hour walk to Sandown is easy, either by public footpath or along a wide flat cycle track.
The vineyard has been mentioned by others; personally I found this to be disappointing, but this is only an opinion.
Will we visit agin...yes.

All the site personnel were very welcoming, personable and couldn't have been more helpful. Swimming pool was a definite plus - the grandchildren thoroughly enjoyed it. Morning visits by ducks were entertaining but rogue chicken was discouraged and eluded the site management. Adgestone vineyard within walking distance and there are tremendous views from Brading Downs. Would we come again? Yes definitely but would bring our bikes.

We had 2 nights here after the schools had gone back, there were still about 50 pitches taken up but it's a large site and it was nice and peaceful.
Site lads and lasses were cheerful and helpful, we were taken to our pitch and helped to get the van level.
Showers and toilets were were kept immaculate.
A half hour walk gets you to a vineyard which is a good half day out.

A nice site with friendly and helpful staff, however the road to the site is very narrow for a modern caravan and the hedges can mark the van. The real downside unfortunately is the old and tired shower blocks, they are kept as clean and tidy by the staff as possible but really are in dire need of replacement.

Having just spent time at this site I would definately go again, the pool was great,(and warm), the shop was reasonably priced and did takeaways including breakfasts, the shower blocks and toilets are very clean and in fairness the whole site is kept to a good standard by the staff. On checking in we found the assistants extremly helpfull and friendly and this attitude didnt change at all, Debs, Jason, Gerald and Tim along with Brian and all the partners took time out to make certain all was ok and were all very helpfull. I recomend this site and am re-booking.

This was our first visit to this site, having stayed at a few club sites over the recent years, I can honestly say that we have never met such happy, friendly and obliging staff.
Nothing was too much trouble and they are all a huge credit to the club.
The facilities are not new, but were impeccably clean, my husband loved the fact he could regulate the shower temperature (it was really hot when we stayed.)
The pool is fantastic if you have children, it is not manned by a lifeguard, but the safety rules are enforced in a firm but friendly manner. We spent a whole day there as there is plenty of grassy area to sit and read/supervise the children.
When on the site you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere, although it is not far to the local shops and beaches.
I would thoroughtly recommend this site to anyone, particularly families. I'm sure we'll be returning soon.

1st time on the IOW and had a fantastic holiday. The campsite was supurb, the facilities, toilets, showers were emaculate and very spacious, the water was hot and had no problem with pressure. Swimming pool, and shop all on site, play area and quite areas as well if you want to be tucked away.
The staff couldnt have been more friendly. Jason and Debs knew exactly where to pitch us as there had been alot of rain and the ground was quite damp, but Jason made sure we were higher up where the water had drained away more. They were friendly and smiling, couldnt have made us more welcome. As were all the staff, i will certainly be recommending this site to other campers. Plenty to do, you can walk/cycle to Sandown and easy to get to the garlic farm along the cycle route as well. I will deffo be returning to the IOW and to this site.

Quite a large open site. Flat and grass well kept and clean. Site staff very welcoming, helpful and friendly. I can imagine that during school holidays a peaceful break would be difficult. Plenty of play areas for kids, though. Outside school holidays the site is reasonably peaceful, with the occasional dog barking. Excellent shower & toilet blocks all kept spotless. We stayed at another site on the Isle of Wight last year. It was a disaster. Very exposed and invisible staff. We left early and nearly gave up camping. Having briefly inspected the Adgestone Site last year we thought we would give it a try. We re-joined the Club and booked for the end of June.
Nothing could have been more different. We were guided to a very sheltered, (in all wind directions) and quiet pitch. Gerald, Denise and the Team worked tirelessly painting, cleaning and gardening but still had time to give a cheery word and a bit of help.
Although the site is very big it is broken up by planting so that each section has the feel of a small site.
I thought my wife was a "Bleach Queen" but the facilities were always ample and sparkling.
The (heated), pool is excellent and we used it most days.
The little shop, (Squirrel Stores) has an amazing stock of food, camping requisites and holiday goods at very reasonable prices. On the day we left we enjoyed an excellent breakfast from the cafe/take-away. The couple who run it are most helpful, friendly and deserve for it to be a great success.
We simply couldn't find anything wrong with the site and can't wait to return next year.

We have never been to the Isle of /wight before, and it rained almost every day for two weeks. That was the down side, the up side was the Manager and staff were absolutely fantastic, the welcome was great, they could not do enough for us in the muddy conditions. Nothing was too much trouble for them. We had a bad experience last year with the staff at Bala and were thinking of leaving the club, but the staff at this site have changed our minds. We have just got home after spending seven nights at Adgestone campsite and it was by far our best camping holiday to date. The site was faultless in every way... we didn't really understand previous comments about amenities being below par - both blocks of facilities really clean - two wonderful play areas - football pitch, basketball hoops and a fishing lake. With well kept grounds and an amazing heated swimming pool. Every aspect was really well thought out and the staff couldn't have been any more friendlier or helpful. A big special mention goes to Jason and Debbie who we loved and were hilarious, friendly and kind. We have a 4 yr old and 2 yr old and it was perfect for them in every way. The weather was pretty awful and the pitch they gave us was right for the rain. and for us ... it did not ruin our stay one little bit. Got friends coming camping to IoW in the summer holidays and will be telling them to come here definitely. We will be back as soon as we can too. Thankyou for a lovely holiday. Jim and Emma.

This was our first visit to Adgestone and the first to a Camping and Caravanning Club apart from the forest campsites. Having been menbers of the Caravan Club for the past twenty years we found the friendy atmosphere very welcoming and the helpfulness of the staff second to none. Our stay of 3 nights was during the heavy rainfall time and the site was very "squishy" with water. We were trying out a non electric hookup stay to try out our newly installed solar panels, which we found to be quite adequate to charge the battery even during the overcast periods. We were towed out of the site by the staff using their tractor to try to reduce the damage to the grass.
The site shop and cafe are very useful and takeaway food could be ordered at certain times. We didn't try the pool but it looked inviting even with the bad weather. As we live on the Island we know that the Island has it's own "microclimate" and the weather here is usually better than the mainland just 20 miles away! We will definitly return to this site.

This was our first visit to this site and had been a little nervous due to some reviews.firstly getting from the ferry at fishbourne was a bit daunting signs to the campsite are minimal, you cannot use satnav as this will take you up hill and down dale ! Once we found sign post we thought yeh nearly there ,it would have been nice to know about numerous speed bumps which you have to encounter to reach and leave the site. The roads on the Isle of Wight are generally very poor full of pot holes and uneven surfaces.Once we had reached the site we where greeted warmly although the lady dealing with us was a bit unsure how to book us in so it could have been better with more info. We do understand that the whole team are new to the site and the island so I expect this will improve with time . We were allowed to choose our pitch which was good . Unfortunately although the weather was lovely on the day we arrived it deteriorated very quickly and the next couple of days we fought with wind rain and mud ,so much so we had to move our pitch . Mental note here check what your pitch will be like if it Rains !!! The pitches are not level and you don't want to be sloping down when it rains . I have to say here nobody could have foreseen the weather though. The site is clean and tidy but does need up dating epecially the disable block, floors very slippery so beware .The swimming pool was cold even on warm days and the temp was definitely colder than displayed. The staff are helpful but are very busy trying to improve things and sometimes a smile and greeting would have been good but obvious other things on their mind. The fishing lake is wonderful but river fishing naf as to overgrown. There are plenty of things to do on the island and some lovely walks . The needles park very over rated and for a young family very expensive , but the needles themselves stunning. All in all not a bad holiday but very wet hense our name for the Island is now the Isle of Wet.

This was our first stay at a club site, as we are new members. We were rather hesitant after reading some of the reviews for the site. The welcome we recieved was amazing, couldn't be faulted. We were allowed to choose where we wanted to go. Every day someone came round to see if we were all ok.
There are now 2 shower and toilet blocks, though the showers often had power issues (going from strong to weak pressure and back again). They were at least hot, and were kept very clean. A few toilets near the fishing lake side of the park would be nice as it's a long way to the toilets from there.
There are two lovely parks for the kids and when the weather was dry, the kids flooded to them! We unfortunately were there over the jubilee half term and the weather was absolutely awful!
The only complaint we had was that the pool was really cold, but I imagine that the howling gale didn't help the pool stay warm.
The fishing lake is wonderful. My father caught every time he went (virtually every cast) and often they were quite sizeabe. All in all we were very impressed (and we have our first pennant...yay!).
The site is huge, but divided by hedges and trees into different sections. The site was quite full when we were there, but it never felt it.
We will definately return when we are due some good weather so that we can fully appreciate all the site has to offer.
*Note, they no longer have cycle hire on site.*

We have been coming to this site every May half term for the past 7 years. The site is under new management this year, and it must be said that the new management are extremely friendly, more than willing to help and have spent money on improving the amenities, such as the showers and bins. This site is a beautiful site surrounded by walks and cycle tracks, and the friendly and welcoming attitude of the new management finishes it off brilliantly. Very pleased, and look forward to going back again.

Our favourite campsite. This is our second visit to Adgestone, we were here at the same time last year with our VW Campervan and awning.
The campsite has level grass pitches and the ground is not stoney, so easy for pegs. Facilities are very clean. The showers are fabulous when pressure is high, unfortunately the pressure does drop occassionally but still enough to shower.
The site is a couple of miles inland from Sandown, surrounded by countryside, so feels very safe. Children playing in the ball field and riding around on bikes quite happily.
Jason was great. Always smiling and helpful.
Unfortunaely for us, we had torrential rain overnight for two nights of our stay and with the weight of the campervan, we got stuck with wheels spinning. Gerald came to the rescue with his site tractor and towed us free. Felt bad we had ploghed their lovely grass... We parked on the other side of the awning for the next night, only to get stuck again! More towing from Gerald. Can't believe they were still so understanding and friendly. Great service.
We stayed over the Jubilee Weekend, so this included taking part in the C&CC Guinness World Record attempt at most people wearing paper crowns! Not sure whether we made it, but the kids loved it as everyone gatehred around the swimming pool in their crowns.
Definitely will be back again next year... If they'll have us!

Our family (2 adults/2 kids) have been visiting this site annually for our 2 week summer holiday. Never had a bad holiday. Lovely location, very friendly and helpful staff, we've always found the facilities clean. Lots of play areas for the kids, peaceful areas of site and noisier areas - so just choose where you want to be. Ok, some things may need updating (pool area/toilets/showers) but the staff/location/site in general more than make up for any of this. We went at Easter last year - pool closed, didn't matter. So much to see/do on the island, you will never get bored.

This is a lovely site which could be so much better if only the club would invest in it. The staff are doing the best they can but the toilet blocks and other facilities are old and worn and impossible to look pristine. We stayed here in July 2011 in our 1972 VW Bay camper van. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The site wasn't very busy so plenty of pitches to choose from and the rep took time to suggest the pro's and con's depending on our preference - sunrise, sunset etc. The kids play area looked good for families. We have a dog and though the dog walk is small in comparison to some places we've stayed you are close to a cycle/walking path that goes for miles. As for facilities yes they are dated but in my opinion could be improved fairly inexpensively with more clothes hooks in the cubicles and new shower heads (on the assumption water pressure is up to it!). We enjoyed the IOW and would definitely go back to Adgestone. Visit the Garlic farm if you're into cooking and eating nice food.

Having spent 17 nights at this site I was very disapointed to discover the state of the toilet/showers. They are in need of updating ASAP and should include more showers for a site of this size. The showers are NOT safe to use either as I found they go hot and cold without even touching the controls and I hurt my back with hot water. It spoilt my much looked forwards to holiday.
The rules for use of the unmanned swimming pool again are nothing like local council ru ones where children from the age of 9 years are able to use them alone. Here you have to be 12 years of age or with an adult at all times. I would suggest that given the amount of site staff there you should have one as a pool attendant at all times and reduce the age limit. My children found it very degrading having to have parents with them all the time when they go swimming all the time at home on their own.
Unless things change we would not return to this site but, would go back to the Island as it is a lovely place.

We stayed for a week in August and although the site and pitches were good and well layed out, I have marked it down on facilities and cleanliness due to the toilet and shower facilities. There are not enough showers to accomodate a site that size, it was at least a 15 minute wait daily for one. They are outdated and feel dirty. There only 2 shower/toilet blocks so it is a fair trek to them depending on which part of the site you are on. Another shower/toilet block on the far field wouldn't be unreasonable. I was surprised at the sign in the toilets displaying 99.7% customer satisfaction of toilet cleanliness as I feel it barely reached 50%. I feel like I am doing the site a slight injustice as apart from these things I was very happy with the site and shop/pool facilities

Facilities are getting old but work well water is hot and all are kept very clean. Plenty of space, with areas for all types of family. Our grandaught enjoyed the todlers play park. And the family rooms were excellent for baby baths before bedtime. There is so much to do on the Island we have still not done it all despite going there all my life (I'm in my 50's). Thank you to all the staff for a brilliant stay. Only down side was when the school holidays start some families make the showers dirty, it does not take a minute to mop it out. So why can't you all help the staff keep the place clean for all to use! See you again next year.

As kids we used to holiday on the Island every year and so it was with fond and some forgotten memories I returned with my own family for a week in July. When making the booking the staff were very helpful just as when we arrived. They were all very friendly and very accommodating but a special mention has to go to Steve & Yvonne. Nothing was too much trouble for them and their help made the holiday all the more special. Plans are already being made to return next year. My sisterinlaw had arranged a surprise getaway for my brother as part of his 40th and the site managers were kind enough to allow for them to pitch next to us when they arrived later in the week. This was at their discretion and we're all very grateful - his face was a picture! They allowed some of our extended family who have settled on the Island to visit on the Saturday for a BBQ which Sam had arranged as part of the surprise. We left on the Sunday with no pressure to be gone by a certain time - Yvonne later said she had us down as "Quarter to Three'ers" from the moment she saw us arrive! The site itself is wonderful. Facilities are plentiful, very clean and well maintained. There are two playgrounds one for younger children, an outdoor swimming pool and a smaller one too. There’s a shop & a takeaway on site which have been franchised but weren’t very reliable for opening - no fault of the site but this was no issue as there’s a Morrissons nearby. The holiday was a wonderful break made even more special by the staff facilitating the surprise weekend and even a birthday message for me on the entrance chalkboard. The manager was kind enough to call when we were on the ferry as he had found a bracelet which we had left by the pool in the morning and arranged to post it. Without a doubt the Team are fantastic and a credit to the Club as is the site. I relived memories lost from a much simpler time and in so doing sparked the desire to return again next year and who knows after that?! Thankyou.

This site was excellent. We were lucky with the weather and throughly enjoyed our stay. The welcome and cleanliness were brilliant, the facilities could do with updating however.
The only negative point occured on the day we left, we turned into the lane from the site back to lake with our van and met an agressive lorry driver complete with 18 ton truck who refused to back up his vehicle and insisted we reversed, which we did for some distance before he relented and pulled into a drive way to let us pass. Be warned this approach road to the site is very tricky. Can the club not use the entrance at the gateway at the other end of the site to avoid this narrow lane? I would hate anyone else to have this experience as it spoiled our journey home after a beautiful holiday.

We have just returned from a week on the Isle of Wight which was absolutely fantastic.
The staff at Adgestone campsite couldn't be more helpful and the surroundings are just perfect. Whilst on the site you feel like you are in the middle of the countryside but in truth you are just a short drive from the nearest towns and sandy beaches.
The outdoor swimming pool is very warm and we used it everyday. In fact we were the only ones in it each morning and so it felt like a private pool which was absolutely fantastic!
Whilst it might be true that the facilities are fairly old, they were kept really clean throughout the whole of our stay and the showers are extremely hot and much better than many newer ones I have used at other sites. The family rooms also deserve a mention - they were a brilliant layout with plenty of room and made getting ready with two young children (2 and 4) a pleasure rather than the usual chore whilst away.
Overall, we had a lovely time on the Isle of Wight and our only complaint is that we didn't have enough time to see and do more of what the island has to offer!
A big thank you to everyone at Adgestone who made the trip so perfect. We hope to return very soon!

After a long drive and ferry crossing, it was great to have a happy and cheerful welcome. The site itself was ideally situated for nearby beaches as well as nature trails.
A golf course is within 1 mile, and a local Vineyard (Hic!)on the doorstep.
We couldn't have asked for better weather,so every morning we enjoyed a dip in the heated swimming pool.
A thoroughly enjoyable stay was had by all.
I have to mention two site wardens who were absolutely brilliant, Yvonne and Steve. -Thank you so much for all of your help you are a credit to the club!
We hope to be back soon......

Stayed at a few campsites during our holiday & only wish we'd found this one first! This site is very quiet & great for both older couples & families. Plenty for children to do with a pool, 2 play area's & plenty of space where they can run around & let off steam! Ideal for older couples too that want a quiet relaxing place to stay. Facilities were clean throughout our stay & staff were friendly. Would reccomend to anyone that wants a peaceful place to stay, this will be our first choice when we come back again next month!

Very friendly and helpful wardens, especially considering we arrived late having taken an unplanned scenic tour of the lanes from the ferry. As a result we ended up near the entrance with easy access to the facilities, and against a large hedge as an excellent windbreak, but still had plenty of room around us. The site was very quiet and peaceful over the early May bank holiday and therefore we had no issue with the facilities which although dated were very clean. However, if the site is full I can see that there would be queues for the limited 2 male, 2 female, 2 family showers. The swimming pool was opened on the weekend of our stay and was a "fresh" 15c but my son and I had a lovely private swim.
The shop is a separate franchise and the Wardens did not know when it would be open.
The country location is only a mile from the sea with Co-ops and a Morrisons a short drive away.
We enjoyed our short visit to the Isle of Wight with plenty to see and do, and intend to come back again.
Recommended for families at all times and others outside of school holidays.

This site was one of the best campsites we've been on. We have 2 boys aged 9 and 11yrs, there was a seperate play area for the older children with a football pitch and play area. This was great for the boys to make new friends and stay out of harms way. There was also a table tenis area undercover, so ideal for when it rained. The wash areas were all kept spotless. There was a great little shop on site with all the essentials. We didn't use the swimming pool on site, as we didn't have very warm weather, but there is also a great leisure centre 5 mins away which we did use. We would return to this site again.

Just got back from a 3 day break cycling on the Island. What a lovely site this is ! A fanatstic location especially if you are cycling, walking etc. There is an old railway line that has been tarmacced for most of the way from Sandown to West Cowes via Newport. Also some lovely walks within a short distance and only a short ride/drive from the coast at Shanklin.I thought the facilities were excellent and clean although it was quiet when wew were here last weekend and i guess with a full site you can see where they may need to upgrade to meet demand but all in all i recommend it to anyone and indeed a member of my family is looking at booking a few days here in September

I took my hyper active 11 year old son on a short camping break for 3 nights 18-21 April low season. We loved it. Quite, peaceful and relaxing for me and my son soon made some new friends to play with, a couple of young lads with their families who were camped across the way from us. The staff that we met on arrival(Jenny & Phil) were very pleasant. Having checkd in, Phil showed us around the site and took us to our pitch. He even recommended some fun places for me to take my son. The facilities on site that were open were spotless. Situated about 10 minutes slow drive from Lake, the road leading to the site being a narrow country lane, we had brunch at Morrisons every morning after making our own breakfast on site. We were able to visit different parts of the island from Adgestone without any difficulty. Hopefully even before the summer season has finished. Only negative comment I can think of is the showers were a little cramped but again they were spotless and water was lovley and warm in the morning. Will definetly be visiting this lovely site again.

We have visited this site many times and love the setting and tranquility but the showers are toilets although extreamly clean and well maintained by the wardens they are desperate for rebuilding and modernising many peaple we have met over the years are now saying they will not visit any more untilo the club spends some money the shop is a joke and this year the clud has decided to only open fer a short season (ONE HAS TO ASK IF THE CLUB INTEND KEEPING THIS SITE) As the CC have just compleatly refurbished there site and are getting many bookings so considering Adgestone is in a far superior setting why is it being run down by head office

We have quite a large outfit and the pitch allocated was perfect. Plenty of room although a long way from the facilities. Our boys were 5 and 3 at the time and loved it. A great atmosphere, all the children played together, making up games etc and the play area was a lovely size. There's an easy cycle route into Sandown from the campsite which we often used. The only downside were the showers. We gave up using them in the end and resorted to using our caravan shower - there aren't enough for the size of the campsite - once waited over an hour - and you could barely get your hair wet as the pressure so poor. There are 3 good family rooms but again the wait for them was so long that we just felt we were wasting half our day trying to get washed.

A lovely site, convenient for all the wonderful IOW amenities. Spoilt however by the club's policy of charging for hookups even if one is a tent camper and doesn't require power to run all the electrical appliances one could properly leave at home.

Our family of four, including two teenage children, really enjoyed staying at the Adgestone site. The staff were very friendly and the site was clean, well looked after, good size pitches and well laid out. The toilet/shower blocks could do with some refurbishment, but the staff make the best of the facilities they have and they are kept VERY clean.

I have just come back from Adgestone.
Had a great time the girls loved the pool nice and secluded, will be going back next year. The showers were a bit dated and could use having money spent on them, there was only 6 showers in the ladies over the whole of the site which has 200 pitches, there was no pressure in the showers so rinsing your hair took time.
Apart from that would recommend the site.

This is a good family site in a great location, but let down by rather "tired" facilities. First, on a positive note, it's a very peaceful and quiet site, very safe for kids to ride around and with easy access to walks & bike rides, yet within a few miles of Sandown or Lake, where you can find all the necessary facilities. It has an excellent pool and a couple of good play areas for kids. Unfortunately it's let down by a couple of major things. First, the showers are rubbish. There are nowhere near enough of them - I had to queue almost every morning. The water pressure is feeble, there's not much space for hanging up clothes and towels, and they feel cramped and just generally "old". I get the feeling that they haven't been updated since the 80's - come on Adgestone, spend some money and refurbish them - they are letting down the site badly. And at the same time, can you please put in a few more washers & dryers - three of each for a site with 270 pitches is a joke. I had to do my washing at 11pm! Finally, the shop leaves a lot to be desired. I think this is a separate business, not owned by the camp site, but although it has a large captive market, there was a serious lack of fresh meat & veg, meaning that you couldn't buy the necessary ingredients for a decent meal. A couple of packs of sausages and a lot of tinned food doesn't make a barbeque - where were the steaks and burgers?? I don't want to sound too negative - I would probably go there again, but it could be so much better. This is the first Camping & Caravanning Club site I've visited, and I expected far better - I hope this isn't the standard generally.
