This site no longer takes caravans or tents.
Very unhappy about this.

Overall a good site. Approach roads and site roads could do with a permanent pothole maintainence solution. Toilets were clean and warm. Dissappointed that push button in my shower was for 3/4 secs only whilst mens was apparently at least 10 secs. Well stocked shop but as out of season, shop and reception closed at 6pm. Photocopied maps for cycle rides available free but as B&W the colour coding of the paths was lost. Luckily it was cold so the midges had almost gone. Motorhome owners will need either bikes or to take van out for eating out as village was 3 miles away.

Almost gave this site a miss after reading the bad reviews but extremely glad we did visit.
Pretty faultless really. A lovely warm welcome, well stocked shop (even in a wet September), clean and warm facilities and a wonderful location.
This is not a pristine site with a lawn cut by nail scissors and 'keep of the grass' signs but a Scottish woodland/lochside with wonderful views and walks around. Do go there. (Just don't tell everyone or it'll get tooo busy).

One of our favorite sites. Friendly, helpful staff and stunning location make it a great place to spend time. Good location for hiking, fishing or canoeing.

This site has potential. Sadly there are numerous things quite wrong with it.
Pitch sizes are small (I heard due to lodges being built?)
The access and site roads are full of potholes. It looks terrible.
Toilets - showers etc are good. sink hot water is tepid. green mould on all shower curtains and lots of spider webs.
Sign saying water has potential health hazard, but not informed about this on arrival.
For the prices that are charged, this site disappoints.

someone please save this site, its going down hill fast, it needs a proper old style warden to run the site, the place is a mess, and the tent pitches are all on a slope of ground that looks like waste ground the pitches are to small and you can not get electric hook up if you are in a tent , their is only a dozen tent pitches ,, the site is grubby and poorly run ,, av been on a few forest holiday sites and this is the worst kept even though they all are to expensive,, clean up your act

Excellent place for forest walks, fishing and boating,or just relaxing.Toilet/shower block ok,also well stocked shop on site,or there are three grocery/newsagents in nearby Arrochar. Will definately return, only wish we lived closer. The only downer is the weather which can change within minutes, but this is Scotland after all and this site could not be better placed,ie on the edge of a loch and a forest.

surrounding areas are what you would expect from scotland. the campsite will we feel give the camping and caravan club a bad name to anyone.the staff believe they have nothing to do with the club, and if you don't like the state of the site LEAVE.so we did even though we had booked for longer

We stayed for one night in January - we received a very friendly welcome - had a great pitch overlooking the loch - very clean and well maintained facilities. We had a great stay and would return.

Ardgarten site is situated in one of the prettiest areas of Scotland, surrounded by mountains and Loch Long. Unfortunately it has become very untidy and does not live up to the Club's standards of cleanliness. The shop is well stocked and it is nice to have a cafe, and forestry facilities (cycle hire and canoeing) on site. However, unless you have a boat, the fishing seems to have gone downhill. Before we visit again, the site needs a bit of care and attention, weeding on the hardstandings, better defined pitches, the holes in the entrance road and the route round filling in and somebody to actually spend the designated hour cleaning the facilities thoroughly.

Not really up to the standard expected of a club site. Staff were very helpful and friendly and shop is very good but facilities are not really large enough to cope and pitches are a bit tired and poorly laid out. newly built cabins do nothing to improve the site layout.
