The dolphins made us visit twice, it was worth going back! It’s a very peaceful Site. - Sally Burford
What's on?
- The nearby village of Rosemarkie is
famous for its Pictish stones. These are
housed in the Groam House Museum on
the High Street. The town also has shops
and a couple of pubs serving food.
- The Beach Café, run by the local
community, is open during the summer.
- The red ruins of Fortrose Cathedral are
south of the Site.
- Take a boat from Avoch Harbour or
Cromarty to see the dolphins.
- Inverness, the capital of the Highlands, is a bus ride away. It has shops, galleries, a
cathedral and the Victorian Market.
- Munlochy Bay is a haven for wading
birds, ducks and migratory birds.
- Black Isle Brewery runs tours of its organic beer-making facility.
- The Dolphin Listening Centre at North
Kessock reveals the undersea world of
dolphins and seals in the Moray Firth and
is open during the summer months.
- Feed ducks, geese and swans at the Black Isle Wildlife and Country Park.
- Cruise Loch Ness and see the Monster
Exhibition. The ruins of Castle Urquart
overlook the Loch.
- Walk along the beach to the lighthouse at Chanonry Point. There are great views
from here across the Moray Firth – home
to seals and a family of bottle-nosed
dolphins.
