As a regular visitor to the Site, I am impressed with the new hardstanding pitches which were put in this year (2007). Also being just one mile to Canterbury city centre and so close to Dover for day trips to France. It’s a great Site to visit. - Cyril Moore
What's on?
- The city of Canterbury is just over a mile
away. Buses run from outside the Site
into the centre. Explore the city in style by
horse-drawn carriage or river boat.
- Canterbury cathedral has been welcoming visitors for at least 14 centuries. Today it is host to an international study centre.
- Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales is the basis
of a visitor attraction at the heart of the
city. Join a walking tour and discover the
rest of the city with an official guide.
Whitstable is home to The Favourite, the
last of the Oyster Yawls that used to catch
shellfish around the Kent coast.
- Howletts Wild Animal Park and the
African Experience are both home
to a wide range of animals, from
elephants to wolves.
- Children and adults will enjoy the Rupert
Bear Museum. It has original Rupert
drawings and activities for all the family.
- The channel ports of Dover and Folkestone are less than an hour’s drive to the south.
- Sandy beaches are at the traditional seaside resorts of Margate and Broadstairs to
the north east.
- Kent’s unique woodland discovery park Wildwood is in ancient woodland that dates
back to the Domesday Book.
- You can fish locally for carp, bream, roach, tench, rudd, perch, pike and trout.
