What's on?
- The shingle beach at Slapton Sands
separates the sea from a fresh water
lagoon, Slapton Ley. This is a National
Nature Reserve.
- The South Devon Heritage Coast has some of the country’s loveliest sandy beaches. Blackpool Sands and Bigbury on Sea both hold prestigious Blue Flag Awards.
- Start Point lighthouse is open to visitors. It has the original signal flags on display, as
well as stunning views.
- Woodlands is a good family day out. It has
rides, animals and indoor play.
- Dartmouth can be reached by public
transport. At the head of the River Dart, the
town has winding medieval streets and a
ferry across the river to Kingswear.
- Take the Paignton and Dartmouth Steam
Railway towards Torquay.
- Torquay is a traditional seaside town on the
English Riviera. Explore the Bygones
Museum of nostalgia.
- Brunel Woods was once owned by the
well-known Victorian engineer, Isambard
Kingdom Brunel.
- There are many lovely walks in the area,
especially those along the coast or inland
on Dartmoor.
- The Devonshire Collection of Period
Costume is in Totnes.
- Seabreeze runs kite surfing, kite
buggying, kayaking and wave skiing
excursions from the beach, a mile and a
half from Site. Salcombe is well known
for sailing.
