Enjoyed the surroundings so much we booked another nine nights. Hopefully we will return. - John and Jackie Willard

- Kendal town is a couple of miles from the
Site. It has a good selection of restaurants,
supermarkets and factory retail outlets. It is also home to the Abbot Hall Art Gallery, the
Museum of Lakeland Life and the Kendal
Museum. In September the town hosts a
torchlight procession.
- There are good views of the town from the ruins of Kendal Castle.
- The Quaker Tapestry Exhibition tells of 350 years of history in embroidered form.
- The Brewery Arts Centre hosts shows and exhibitions, and has two cinemas.
- Windermere is the closest lake to Site. The Lake District Visitor Centre at Brockhole is on its shore.
- The Steamboat Museum runs steamboat
trips and has an Arthur Ransome
exhibition, in memory of the popular
children’s author.
- Hire bikes at Windermere station to follow one of the many cycle trails. The Walney to Wear (W2W) 160-mile National Cycle route passes near this Club Site.
- Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway

Bowness for boat trips round the lake.
- Buy a range of paper from The Paper Mill Shop at the James Cropper paper factory.
