- Dalemain Historic House and Gardens, near Ullswater, combines medieval, Tudor and Georgian architecture with lovely gardens.
- Beckstone Art Gallery is one of the country’s leading fine art galleries, displaying over 300 paintings by 40 of the nation’s top artists.
- Blencathra (also known as Saddleback) is one of the many fells within walking distance of the site.
- The impressive waterfall of Aira Force is managed by the National Trust.
- Eden Ostrich World is on a working arable, beef and sheep farm and has zebras and racoons alongside a soft play area.
- Whinlatter Forest Park is England’s only true Mountain Forest. In the summer, there is a video link showing the Bassenthwaite ospreys at the Visitor Centre.
