Visit the Kendal Museum and explore the history, geology and wildlife of the Lake District. Explore the Wainwright Gallery which follows the history of man in Cumbria from Prehistoric times to present. There is even a collection of ancient Egyptian material including funerary objects, scarab seals, shawabti figures, and numerous necklace beads. The World Wildlife Gallery, shows evolution and ecology on five continents, while natural history focuses on geology of the local area. Last but not least is the Hamer collection, one of the most extensive mineral collections in the North of England, more 2000 specimens including beautiful ruby crystals from Myanmar and spectacular tourmaline crystals embedded in quartz from Brazil.

By road from M6 Motorway - From the M6, Junction 36 take the A591 to Kendal, leave at the exit signposted South Kendal. Follow signs for town centre, then for Brough (A685). After crossing the river, Kendal Museum is on the right.
By road from Windermere/Keswick A591 - Take the A5284 towards Kendal town centre, and then follow signs for Brough (A685). After crossing the river, Kendal Museum is on the right.
