Festivals & Heritage

Beatrix Potter's 17th-century farmhouse, Hill Top, has been carefully preserved since she left it to the National Trust. Visitors can now explore the house where so many beloved children’s tales were written (and set, Beatrix Potter liked to take inspiration for her tales from her surroundings, both the rooms and their contents.) The lovely garden is full of informally planted flower beds, and in the height of summer the beds are stuffed with flowers and vegetables. Perfect for attracting Rabbits!

Why not pick up a copy of Hill Top’s alternative guidebook, 'The Tale of Samuel Whiskers,' written by Beatrix Potter!
