Built in the early sixteenth century when Smallhythe was a thriving shipbuilding port, Smallhythe Place was purchased by renowned Victorian actress Ellen Terry in 1899. Take a look at an exhibition on Ellen's visit to Australia and New Zealand, and the dramatic events that affected her life during the war.
