Beamish is a world famous open air museum telling the story of the people of North East England. The story of Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian life is told by our costumed staff and volunteers in a unique living and working museum. Most of the houses, shops and other buildings have been dismantled, brought to Beamish and rebuilt here. A traditional bakery is being brought to life in 2013 at Durham’s beamish museum. Visitors will see bakers at work using traditional recipes and will be able to buy tasty treats, including freshly-made bread, pies, biscuits and cakes. The bakery will add to the repertoire of vintage eateries within the museum which already includes a traditional sweetshop and coal fired fish and chip shop.
