Following last year’s successful Jubilee celebrations, Salisbury City Council are delighted to announce it will host the ‘Salisbury Summer Spectacular’ - a large free event at Hudson’s field on Saturday 24 August from 2pm – 10pm.
The Council have organised a FREE entry event for all ages with a main music stage, large arena, mini arena and a Salisbury City Council Introducing Stage in conjunction with The Unit and other attractions such as a large funfair, craft stalls, children’s activities, bouncy castles, Animal WD-40 Action Sports Tour, Business village, bars, food vendors and much more!
The Main stage will showcase local acts such as Sandy Ince from Sticky Toffee Jazz, Jamie Eldridge, Salisbury Rock Choir, Stone Donkey Pilots, The Deloreons and performances from touring acts David Brewster Reggae and FLASH! A tribute to Queen.
One of the many highlights of the event will be the Hot Air Balloon Spectacular from the Main Arena at 6pm, join in the fun as a large number of balloons take to the skies to the sounds of classical and emotive music.
The event will culminate with an amazing firework show at 10pm against the backdrop of Old Sarum Castle.
The Council have organised FREE parking in all City Centre Car Parks from 1pm on Saturday 24 August and FREE Park & Ride, please note the only parking available at Hudson’s Field is for Blue Badge Holders and is via Stratford Road. There is no parking near the site and indeed there is a ‘no parking order’ in the adjacent roads,. Please use City Centre or Park & Ride, walk or cycle to the event or catch a FREE shuttle bus provided by the Council from the following locations: Tesco Metro - Castle Street, Coach Station Car Park, Hudson’s Field, Beehive Park & Ride or Railway Station – St. Paul’s.
Business Manager for Salisbury City Council Claire Burden said, “The Summer Spectacular looks set to be a magnificent event for the City and indeed visitors to the area. We hope to see as many of you as possible enjoying this event and supporting the numerous businesses and groups who are taking part. Don’t forget to make full use of the FREE car parking and park & ride at 1pm in the City Centre and use the FREE shuttle buses provided to make your way to the site.”
Visitors are encouraged to bring a picnic and enjoy the day, however the City Council wish to highlight a number of conditions regarding the safety of everyone, and these include:
- Sorry no alcohol on entry, searches will be taking place
- No BBQ’s
- No glass
- Dogs are welcome; please keep them on a lead
- No weapons, drugs or violence will be tolerated
- Ask 25 will be in operation at our bars, please bring I.D with you
On A345 between Salisbury and Amesbury. Please read the parking restrictions in the press release. Those staying on campsite only have 200 yards to walk.
