This superb early 18th-century mansion, in silver-grey Pentewan stone with colonnaded wings of mellow brick, is still the home of the Carew Pole family. Visitors can see its collections of fine china, tapestries, embroideries and portraits. The grounds bordering the Lynher estuary, landscaped by Humphrey Repton, include 25 acre landscaped gardens, a formal courtyard, terraces, ornamental Japanese pond, a knot garden, sculptures and the National Collection of Daylilies. There are many species of indigenous and exotic trees and a collection of camellias, azaleas, rhododendrons, magnolias and other flowering shrubs. Open Tuesday - Thursday, Open Sundays 02 June till 29 August Standard Admission: £8.30, child £5.10, family £21.70, family (one adult) £13.40 Groups (15+) £7. Garden only: £4.40, child £2.20.
