Sent in the original shop, courtyards, cellars and bonded warehouses of the Jefferson family business, is The Rum Story – the Dark Spirit of Whitehaven. Discover the story of the UK’s rum trade, which centred on the port of Whitehaven. During your visit you will travel through a tropical rainforest, an African village, a realistic slave ship, Cumbrian cottages, a Cooper's workshop and more. Discover life the slave trade, American prohibition, rum in the Royal Navy, rum in history, and the process of rum making.

Stop for refreshments at the Courtyard Café, or pick up a bottle of world famous Jefferson's Rum, from the Gift shop. Try the Homemade Rum Butter too…
