Club Announces Exclusive 'Real Richness - The Awards' Ceremony

The Camping and Caravanning Club has today revealed that its eagerly-anticipated ‘Real Richness - The Awards’ ceremony will be held on the opening day of The Motorhome & Caravan Show (October 16-21) at the NEC in Birmingham.

And there is more reason to celebrate as the awards will be hosted by celebrity television presenter and Real Richness ambassador Julia Bradbury!

The awards, which have a spectacular prize fund of over £10,000, will take place on Tuesday, October 16 at 1pm and will be located in Hall 17 (Experts Theatre).

There’s still time to enter the awards via a dedicated webpage on the Club’s website: www.realrichnesstheawards.co.uk

Julia, who recently won the People’s Campaigner Award at the National Trust’s Octavia Hill Awards, is delighted to be a part of such a prestigious event and said: “My childhood camping memories are some of my most treasured – there’s nothing better than getting out in the great outdoors and enjoying all that Britain has to offer.

“These awards really demonstrate what camping brings to peoples’ lives and I look forward to presenting the lucky winners with some fantastic prizes.”

Leading outdoor organisations Outwell, Vango, Elddis and Hi-Tec have all chosen to support the awards and are providing a number of exciting prizes for the top three winners in each of the four award categories – which link to the four pillars of Real Richness (Family Togetherness, Work-Life Balance, Sense of Community and Freedom).

Top prizes include £1,000 spending money (x4), a tablet computer, an SLR camera, a year’s free Club membership, free camping and equipment, Merlin Entertainment annual passes, food hampers, mountain bikes, experience days and much, much more (prizes subject to change).

The Club announced the awards back in February to help reiterate the Real Richness that camping provides - highlighting how camping makes people richer in mind, body and soul.

The Club launched its Real Richness campaign last year after over 60 research studies reviewed by leading academics at Liverpool John Moores University and an online survey proved conclusively that those people who camp are happier, have closer family relationships, are healthier, less stressed and are more socially connected.

Robert Louden, the Club’s Director General, said: “We’re delighted by the overwhelming amount of entries we’ve had from campers so far and we look forward to working with NCC Events to ensure that the lucky winners have an enjoyable experience at this awards ceremony.

“We also have an exciting array of other activities and talks planned during the course of the show and will make further announcements in due course.”

Anthony Trevelyan, Chairman of NCC Events, added: “Real Richness – The Awards are a perfect complement to the National Show. The Show celebrates all that is new and exciting about caravanning, motorhoming and camping and unites visitors from across the country who share a passion for a pastime that enriches their lives and relationships.

“We’re looking forward to hosting the Awards, which we know will be an enjoyable occasion for everyone.”

Club members can also secure the cheapest show ticket price of £6.25 (seniors of 60+ years), £7.25 for adults and children (under-16s go free!) if purchased before October 15, 2012 (a £1 transaction fee applies). The ticket price also includes a show guide and parking.
