For 51 per cent of caravan owners, the benefits of a caravan insurance policy are more important than the cost, according to a recent poll organised by specialist caravan insurers Club Care.
The poll, which was run in association with Caravan Talk, a forum for caravan owners, also discovered that 58 per cent of caravanners are willing to pay more for their insurance to ensure that they are fully protected if anything should happen to their caravan.
While 86 per cent listed price as being important to them when choosing insurance, a number of other factors were also cited as being a vital part of the policy. For 74 per cent of caravanners, the reputation of the insurer was important, with some of those polled stating that they do not even consider getting a quotation from some companies as they have heard they have a bad reputation for handling claims.
Another important aspect to choosing insurance was the ability to earn a no claims discount, with 64 per cent of people saying that this is something they look for when choosing who to insure with.
The size of the excess customers are required to pay out on a claim (58 per cent) and the number of years new for old cover (45 per cent) completed the list of important factors when choosing insurance.
These findings show that independent financial research company Defaqto’s annual Star Ratings will be of great importance to customers when selecting which policy is right for them and will best meet their needs.
Defaqto analyses the benefits of insurance policies by looking at up to 101 different features that they feel are important to help customers select the right product for them. The features they consider include:
● awning cover
● equipment cover
● contents cover
● public liability
● new for old cover
● storm damage
● flood damage
● alternative accommodation
● friends and family cover
● European cover
● no claims discount protection
Defaqto revealed their star ratings for 2012 earlier this month (February), and Club Care, who are the recognised provider of insurance to The Camping and Caravanning Club, were delighted to be awarded a maximum Five Star Rating for its touring caravan insurance.
This Five Star Rating indicates that Club Care provides one of the best quality products in the market, with an excellent range of features and benefits and very high levels of cover.
“At Club Care we are constantly striving to improve our caravan insurance cover for our customers and ensure that they can enjoy true peace of mind whether they are out and about with their caravan or at home,” said Nigel Coppen, Client Director at Club Care.
“We are therefore delighted that Club Care’s touring caravan insurance cover has been awarded a Five Star Rating by Defaqto
“This demonstrates that Club Care’s touring caravan insurance has one of the widest ranges of features and would suit customers looking for all the bells and whistles!”
