Official Statement – June 2, 2010
Following the incident across Cumbria earlier today involving a 52-year-old man, whose body was later found in a wooded area in Boot in the Lake District, The Camping and Caravanning Club can confirm that a camper staying on one of its Club Sites was injured by the gunman whilst out walking his dog off site.
The individual concerned was immediately taken to a local hospital where he was treated for his injuries.
The Club is assisting the Police with enquiries and the safety of all of its campers across The Club's Sites network remains paramount.
The Club's thoughts go out to all the family and friends of those caught up in this tragic incident.
