Teversal Camping and Caravanning Club Site is celebrating after picking up a prestigious award.

The Nottinghamshire-based Site, run by franchisees Chris and Jayne Woods, has been crowned AA Campsite of the Year Heart of England 2010.

The 126-pitch Site, set in six acres of glorious countryside with the Silverhill Wood Country Park, was recognised for its continued commitment to raising the quality of its services and facilities.

Chris Woods was understandably delighted with the recognition and said: “We are absolutely over-the-moon; awards like this certainly make all the hard work worthwhile.

“It has been a very busy summer but a worthwhile one and we have high hopes for the winter as well.”

The Site’s new environmentally-friendly amenity block particularly captured the judges’ attention.

The impressive block has five shower rooms each for men and women, a family room, turbo hand-dryers and shaver sockets as well as a disabled access room, washing up, chemical disposal point, and laundry area.

Eco-friendly features of the block include rainwater harvesting, roof lights, light sensors, and under-floor heating.

“The new toilet block is amazing and has been put together after a great deal of thought, with the best materials and is a credit to the owners,” added AA inspector Roy Pye.

“It is probably the best toilet facility I shall ever see on any campsite.”

Teversal was also recently awarded the AA five-pennant rating.
