New booklet to help campers and caravanners enjoy the best local produce Britain has to offer
Calor, the UK’s leading provider of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders, has teamed up with The Camping and Caravanning Club in an exciting new initiative to discover the best places to ‘eat local’ in the UK. The findings of a comprehensive membership survey will culminate in the publication of a special booklet recommending gastro locations around the British Isles.
The booklet, which will include a specially commissioned food and drink map of the UK, will be divided into different regions providing recommendations for places to eat out, where to find the best locally produced food and a selection of recipes all put forward by members. The booklet will be officially launched at the International Caravan and Motorhome Show in October 2007.
The membership survey will be live from April to August 2007 and all Club members are invited to share their knowledge and experience of eating local around the UK. Everyone who takes part will be entered into a monthly prize draw to win a Satellite Navigation system. Every venue mentioned in the guide will receive a special award, sponsored by Calor, and all members who get their recipe published will receive a Calor gas table top patio heater worth £79.99.
Andrea Price, consumer marketing development manager at Calor says: “The British Isles is a treasure trove of great food and drink and between them, Club members have a huge wealth of knowledge when it comes to eating local around the UK. The booklet will be a fantastic way to share this experience with the membership community and we are really excited about putting together such a useful resource, which members can refer to time and time again.”
Matthew Eastlake, The Camping and Caravanning Club’s Director of Marketing Communications says: “A key theme for us this year is ‘exploring local Britain’ and this initiative will help members get even more out of their holidays. By creating a local food and drink map of the UK, as well as helping people enjoy the best local produce Britain has to offer, it might also tempt holidaymakers to try new destinations as recommended by their fellow members.”
As well as a range of essential holiday equipment including lanterns, barbecues, heaters and caravan cookers, Calor offers campers and caravanners the widest and most readily available range of gas cylinders and fittings which can be purchased through home delivery, caravan dealers or one of 10,000 retail outlets around the country.
